ES FIle Explorer NOT compatible with Android's task switching ? - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
ES File Explorer behaves in a strange way with Android task switching : when you open a file with ES File Explorer, it shows up inside ES File Explorer window instead of showing up in a separate window like any other app do.
I have joint a screenshot of the problem: you can see that ES File Explorer is opening the app (Doninn app here, but it is valid for any app, even stock Android app, like Gallery ) inside its own ES File Explorer window, instead of just opening the corresponding app in a different window. Here the .m4a music file is opened inside ES File Explore.
The current behavior is seriously limiting the possibilities of ES FIle Explorer: how can I browse to another file .m4a file while listening to the 1st .m4a app?
Best regards, Chris

Can anyone with ES File Explorer installed, check if they have the same behavior?
just open any file from ES File Explorer and take a screenshot of Android task switching.

[Q] File Manager for G-Tab that has same capabilities of ES File Manager or Astro?

OK, I have Astro File Manager because Gmail seems to work just fine with using that to add a file attachment. But it doesn't have as good of a LAN access experience as ES File Manager - and while it can navigate to SDCard2, it won't let you create a new directory on it.
I have ES File Manager because paired with it's SMB and Viewer mods it is THE way to read downloaded Manga and it works great to move files back and forth to my shared network disk (4TB). However it can't be convinced to navigate to SDCard2, and I've never found a way to convince GMail that it can be used to select a file attachment.
So what I'd really like is something that can really work with SDCard2 (which is where I'd prefer to put the documents I'm working on, etc), but has ES File Manager's viewer and LAN browsing as well as Astro's GMail file attachment capabilities.
Any suggestions?
You might want to think about installing cifs and cifs manager, that way any file manager can access your network shares.

Perhaps, but I can already use ES File Manager for that. I think the SDCard2 issue is the bigger hurdle.
Why can't you navigate to sdcard2 with esfile? Just open program and hit home icon in the program menu bar and scroll down to sdcard2 directory.
I can navigate to sdcard2 just fine with ES File Explorer. By default it opens up to /sdcard, but if you press the sdcard tool bar button (the first one), it will take you to root where you can access /sdcard2.

[Q] G2X File Associations and Icon

Very frustrating problem. My G2X has been set up exactly the way I like it. I've been using ES File Explorer for network access and it has worked flawlessly.
However, a few days ago there was a new update for ES File Explorer and since that update, file management has been weird.
1. First, using File Manager (built into CM7), when I browse to a directory images, videos, and other files are associated with ES Zip Manager (which I do not have installed). I can change the file association, but the icon for the files stay with ES Zip Manager.
2. Browsing a directory of images with File Explorer or Gallery (built into CM7) will sometimes insert an image from different directory.
3. Using Gallery, as I browse files sometimes an image will duplicate.
I have been forced to uninstall ES File Explorer, but problems #2 and #3 still exist.
I've gone into Development Tools > media Scanner, but no joy.
This is very very frustrating. I now have my media messed up and no way to access files on my network.
HELP!

how do I see an apps "technical" name?

Like the Amazon app is com.amazon. the kindle app is com.amazon.kindle.
Thanks!
If you're rooted you can use a file explorer ( I use ES File Explorer) go to root directory then /data/app. Should be a list of all of these technical names.

Chnage default file manager/explorer

My z3 is rooted. I want to change the default File Commander to ES explorer.
I have uninstalled file commander system app as well still unable to set ES explorer as default app for browsing file/manager.
