I have a rooted g2x, and flashed recovery through Rom Manager. I tried starting the phone with Power and Volume Down, and now I'm stuck in a boot loop. What can I do?
Thanks in advanced for your help!!!
Did you make a backup while your were in recovery? If you did try flashing that. If that doesnt work do a factory reset.
I did make a backup, but how can I get in to recovery now to restore my backup?
Is it okay to factory reset at this point?

you need to set up nvflash and after that is set up you need to flash back to stock firmware
Did you do a nvflash which has been suggested by the devs here or did you do a fakeflash thru rom manager.

I need this too!!
how to factory reset??
use this thread do the nvflash and then boot into recovery, no more easy ways out people... even then this is the easy way compared to the old days with the G1.
I recently rooted my pico...i have read in many forums that u dont have to factory reset or it'll be a brick, so what exactly the cwm recovery option "wipe data/factory reset" do ?
And one more thing, i wipe the data today from cwm and chose reboot system now but it was struck on the boot screen
Luckily i had a nandroid backup which i restored succesfully !! What basically is the problem ??
A help would really be appreciated !!

What you read was correct, but that is the factory reset in the bootloader menu.. which is the white screen you get when you press the power + vol down button combo..
When you do a factory reset/data wipe from the RECOVERY, all it does is delete all the user data.. that is, apps, contacts, messages, basically everything you, as a user do on the phone, switching the phone back to factory condition, ie, clean.. if you do a factory reset at the white screen, ie, bootloader, then the ROM also gets wiped.. That is a soft brick.. Hard bricking is not possible in HTC phones, without S-OFF..
So no need to worry... Sometimes, doing a factory reset makes the phone go into a 'bootloop', ie, the phone does not go beyond the boot animation.. It remains stuck there.. In such a case, all you have to do is flash the ROM again, and you'll be good to go..
Ok...i got it
Thanks for the info....cheers mate:beer:

I was flashing a new ROM and I got stuck at the google logo upon bootup. I tried holding power button to power it off. It does, then turns right back on.

press both power + volume down until it boots on bootloader. then choose recovery, press power and do necessary steps to flash a new rom
You need to restore your cwm or twrp backup in this case...
You phone's not restarting properly coz the custom myt have been missing a file or you might have forgotten to clear the data, caches and delvik cache before installing the custom rom zip file...
As of now...i recommend you restore your backup first

In TWRP, I wiped everything but internal storage. I thought it was a norm coming from a S4 but I don't think I should have done that now. I have the factory image downloaded. Just trying to get into fastboot mode.
I got into fastboot mode. the mistake I was making was that I was stop holding the buttons once the phone powered off.
Yeah...this boot stuck thing happend to me too...during custom rom installation...

If you long press the power button to force a reboot as soon as the screen goes off hold down the volume down button and it will put you into the bootloader screen, Getting to recovery from there is a piece of cake. Holding the volume down button at the beginning of a reboot (when screen is off) to get to the bootloader and/or recovery screen has worked on every device I've tried it on. Just one more way.
Could someone please help, my nexus 5 is rooted and has twrp recovery.
I tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/4-4-4-stock-xperia-devices-ps4-remote-t2868092
Flashed the zip file, then as I was wiping the dalvik cache my phones screen turned off and I was really scared, so pressed the buttons to get back into recovery volume down and power on, boot logo flashed up a twice and then a sigh of relief, then I realised I haven't got any signal on my phone, then looked into my files and they are all gone, I can't install any new apps. the phones internal memory is not showing up.
Just realized that it's not for twrp recovery it was for cwm.:crying:
How do I get out of this and back to normal
Edit -as the phone was wiping dalvik cache when the screen went off, I didnt know it was just turning the screen off, so I interupted it by reseting the device
thanks
Go into boot loader and flash stock

Luckily the zip just contains /system files on this occasion.
/system/etc/permissions and /system/frameworks
...so flashing a Nexus 5 ROM should remedy the problem.
Ive been trying to update to 5.1, it was rooted with 5.0.1 and Team win
ive tried up update with the flash all but that just had plenty of errors ( error cant load/doesnt exisit )
then i tried to use fastboot, fastboot flash radio, system, bootloader, userdata etc
now its just been showing the boot sequence for quite a while
ive tried repeating the fastboot comands after re-settning it and going into the boot laoder but no luck
recovery results in the dead android screen
The dead Android is the stock recovery. When you see it press and hold power, then press and release vol up. Do a factory reset in the stock recovery.
