Tried to Port Xperia remote play killed phone - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Could someone please help, my nexus 5 is rooted and has twrp recovery.
I tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/4-4-4-stock-xperia-devices-ps4-remote-t2868092
Flashed the zip file, then as I was wiping the dalvik cache my phones screen turned off and I was really scared, so pressed the buttons to get back into recovery volume down and power on, boot logo flashed up a twice and then a sigh of relief, then I realised I haven't got any signal on my phone, then looked into my files and they are all gone, I can't install any new apps. the phones internal memory is not showing up.
Just realized that it's not for twrp recovery it was for cwm.:crying:
How do I get out of this and back to normal
Edit -as the phone was wiping dalvik cache when the screen went off, I didnt know it was just turning the screen off, so I interupted it by reseting the device
thanks

Go into boot loader and flash stock

Why did you flash something for the Xperia on your device. Try flashing the factory image in fastboot but you might have bricked your device

Luckily the zip just contains /system files on this occasion.
/system/etc/permissions and /system/frameworks
...so flashing a Nexus 5 ROM should remedy the problem.

[Q] Stuck at CM10 boot screen. Can't recover.

Hi there, this evening I was on the forums, looking for an easy way to root my S3. I followed the steps exactly, and got it rooted. I then went to flash Cyanogen mod 10. I booted into recovery, wiped the cache, and installed the .zip and the gapps.zip. Well I rebooted it from CWM, and it just sits at the boot screen. I've turned it off and tried booting into recovery by holding both volume buttons and the power button, but it just boots up normally back to the CM10 screen. So, I cant seem to get it into recovery, or anything. Please lend me your knowledge.
Did you unlock the bootloader?

Recovery is volume up, power, and home. Just boot your phone up by holding all 3.
p.s. - if all you did was wipe cache before going from Stock (ICS) to CM10 (JB) - bad idea. You should always wipe cache, data and dalvik as well if you're going from ICS to JB or vice versa.
You should also format the system when changing base versions (4.0 to 4.1). Especially on aosp roms, and definitely when returning to tw. Most roms incorporate this, but it is evident that it does not always clean it out fully all the time. True clean install is factory data reset/cache/dalvik/format system.

I did unlock the boot loader. I used the EZ Unlock. But it said that status was unknown. I clicked unlock though and it said it unlocked the boot loader. And there was only one option when I was in CWM, to wipe the cache (it might have been the data I can't quite remember) but either way there were no choices to wipe the data, cache, and dalvik. I tried holding the power, volume down, and home. It said it was downloading, but I let it sit overnight and it never did anything.

Recovery is volume UP, power, and home. Downloading is down. Download mode is when you connect it to your computer to flash firmware via ODIN. CWM definitely has options to wipe data and cache on the main area, with wiping dalvik as an option in advanced options.
I'm very sorry everyone. I took it to my brother and he fixed it for me. Thank you for being so helpful though I just booted to recovery and wiped the cache, dalvik and data. Then it booted up good. I wish I was good with technology

Well, I had been pressing the wrong buttons when trying to boot into recovery *facepalm*. Also, I was too dumb to look in the advanced options for the other options, like wiping the cache, data, Dalvik, etc. Pretty much me just being a noob at all that is technology haha

[Q] Help! My faulty TWRP erased cache and system!

I was in recovery to flash a camera mod, after I flashed the mod I went to clear cache and dalvik just like I usually do when I flash something.
It got stuck on erasing cache for TEN minutes. So I held power to reboot it. Cache was then unmountable. Then I heard if that happens it's probably TWRP's fault, and that a Factory Reset would help. So I did that, and now my /system is gone and I unmountable.
I was able to get into bootloader before, but now that I'm at home it seems I'm having trouble getting there. What are some "force"/hard reset ways to get there? When I try to hold to reboot and hold Vol UP/DOWN it stays black??? Sometimes if i just press power it boots to Google and stays. From there I try to hold power to reboot and get UP/DOWN to get to bootloader but either my timing's off or I'm doing somethign wrong?? Help!

Yes but it continuously says "E:Unable to mount /cache"
I tried wiping it but it takes <5 minutes, is this normal? Can I format it in fastboot...? Or should I just use Google Factory and not ever use recovery or what?
What's the long term fix since somehow TWRP can't wipe my cache without doing something horrible, and CWM isn't official?
EDIT: Finally cleared after like 10 minutes. I managed to adb push a stock untouchced zip through TWRP.
EDIT: What the hell? I booted and my phone is just like it was before?? Somehow data survived I guess? Lost no apps, no photos... Cool i guess? /thread
I had the same problem as you and after I flash back the stock camera I can enter the system normally except the internal storge won't be mounted. do you have any idea why...and how to fix it?

Took a factory reset and restored the data, it worked fine. they should put a giant warning in the camera mod thread about this kind of things.

[Q] Bricked Nexus 5

Hello
I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2507905 to root my new Nexus 5 and flashed this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2528265 onto it, when I tried to boot it up it got stuck in the boot animation so I rebooted into recovery and wiped the data, cache partition and the dalvik cache and tried to boot it up and encountered the same problem so I went to reboot and it wont boot back up not even to the bootloader and when I plug it into my pc its unrecognized and wont even show charging animations
Did I brick my new phone?

Then it is bricked , but I don't really understand how could fromating data, cache and dalvik cache destroy the bootloader . There must be something wrong those recoveries, because you are not the only one
Did you ever check the md5 of the rom you flashed? It could have been a corrupted download
does your bootloader work? hold the vol up/down and power on boot. if u can get to the bootloader u can save it with wugs nexus tool.

If you can get into bootloader you can save it without a tool kit.
Do this if u can't go into recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513937
But if u are able to go into recover, just flash any other rom, make sure you before flashing u do a factory data reset, and after finished wipe cache/dalvik always so u dont go into bootloops.
Through some miracle I was able to get to the bootloader (sat there and held the vol and power buttons for like 3 minutes while my pc dinged and donged as it disconnected and reconnected) but I'm unsure of what to do now. Should I keep trying to load a custom rom on it or just go back to stock? and either or how am I going to get the rom on the internal storage as its still not being recognized by my pc (but I do have fast boot access)

Won't boot past Google bootscreen, TWRP can't mount any partition

I think my Nexus 5 is fried (hopefully not).
I went to check my phone (almost full battery last time I looked), and I notice it's on the boot screen (the google logo with the lock symbol on the bottom) but it won't go past it. Strange, hold power down until it restarts, same thing, stuck at the logo. I am able to get into recovery (TWRP 2.7.0.0). But it can't do anything, can't wipe cache, can't restore/backup, because it can't mount any partition.
I was on stock 4.4.4 rooted, with Franco kernel r54.
Have you guys seen this before!? What should I do?

Just noticed you're on that thread too. If it is the /data that's corrupt, or worse, all my partitions are corrupt, what's the best way to pull the data that's in there now? adb? What if I can't mount it?

I will try that as a last resort, but considering that /data can't be mounted, I'm pretty sure that won't help since it'll just flash system right? The data partition is corrupt (just like last time). I'm trying the method of fixing the corruption through adb based on the link I pasted on the first page.

stuck in loop, possibly a different kind of loop

I was trying to fix my girlfriends nexus 5 that was doing the restart loop after an update. Everything seemed to go fine. Unlocked the bootloader, etc. Flashed the newest rom (6.0.1 (MMB29S) ce1d670f61061c3902f3997510ea55d7 6bfcdfa4f4840898e5d76fa044f5e6a0f71343bf) and then something obviously went wrong (not quite sure, dont think i touched anything) and it's now stuck in a different kind of loop that only loops while it's plugged in. Ive uploaded a video to youtube, but since im a new user i cant actually link it properly yet. Hopefully this wont annoy any mods, I promise it's not spam. youtube . be / yNSoiTPnGZw
Is there any way to get it to stay on for more than a couple seconds to retry the flashing?
Any help is appreciated.

First i followed the guide here on xda to unlock the bootloader(guide-nexus-5-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t2507905), installed twrp, which went fine. Then i realized that i couldnt (or didnt realize how to via command line) to copy the stock rom and install it via twrp, so then i followed this guide here on xda (tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701) with the factory img (6.01 hammerhead), got to this point in the guide: ★After everything finished, select "Recovery" using the volume buttons. then it stalled out, turned off and now just cycles on and offf through the google logo with the lock picture or if i hold down the volume button it will go into the bootloader briefly then restart, rinse repeat.

Different problem
I had a problem where the google logo keeps on booting up with a slight vibration. This started to happen when my was dropped.I initially thought that was a software issue and thought of installing new ROM's but eventually my device was not detected :crying:
So i took it to repair shop near my house and they said it would cost 2500
I did some google research and found the reason was due to the power button being stucked during the fall.I got that repaired and my device is good to go

ok, took it into a shop, got the power button fixed. It must have been on the way out because literally one minute it worked and the second it didnt. now i think ive got it narrowed down. it's saying it's unable to mount /persist. ive tried the various fixes:
e2fsck/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist
and
make_ext4fs/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist
but all i get is a not found error. not sure what to do from here on.
success!! i ended up stumbling on a bit how to restore the persist partition i didnt try. got a custom rom installs and everything works. thanks to everyone who tried to help!!
stuck in bootloop while flashing cataclysm rom
i tried to flash cataclysm rom in my n5..i unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery using TWRP and flash cataclysm rom following the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...s-5-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t2507905...after that it was stuck in bootloop...i tried to open recovery but it wont open anymore it will only go back to loop....how can open the recovery? is it safe to flash CWM recovery?..tnx in advance..
When it was stuck in the loop, I had to hold vol up and down with the power button (wait a few secs until it was completely off) then reboot holding down + power till it opened the bootloader. if that doesnt work, try reflashing the bootloader via fastboot. I only found out i couldnt mount the persist partition by looking at the terminal window in twrp after trying to install a rom which kept it in the boot loop. I then used the cmd: make_ext4fs /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist to rebuild it.
