I prefer black because... vs. I prefer white because... - Moto Z Guides, News, & Discussion

I prefer black/lunar grey model because...
I prefer white/gold model because...
Express yourself and let us know your opinion!

Black/rose gold was my first choice... since it has been reserved (apparently...) to some Force editions, I think white/gold is better for a premium phone like Moto Z is. Black / grey is a bit anonymous in my opinion, expecially on front. The rear isn't bad anyway...

Black looks more natural on this phone because of all the sensors. I wanted to take white first, but all the sensor holes are black, and because they are everywhere, on top and bottom, it just looks bad and displaced if you take your phone in white.

I agree with you on this but... al last I still ordered it white.

Always black, because it stays black.
White phones always look dirty and gross after a short time and they slowly turn yellow due to UV. Friend has a "white" iphone, it looks disgusting.

Black/Lunar Grey because it's sleeker. I temporarily switched to a white phone back when I had an S3, but something about the black blending in with the display and sensors is just more appealing. Especially with the AMOLED screen the Active Display looks so much better on a black phone face.

I really like black on my phones, but I was forced to get white/gold :/ I like it because idk it's just easier on the eyes and it just looks better overall. Like @thefatalepic said, everything blends together, and it just looks way nicer.

[Q] Edge Light Bleed

After 2+ weeks, I just noticed light bleed (in total darkness) at the bottom left corner, corner of recent menu button. Anyone else getting light bleed?
You can only see it while the recent button light flashes on.
Not on a screen tough....
You talking about gap between screen and metal side (left corner)...yes at night I see light coming from there...we all got that.
Cheap ass samsung:victory::laugh:
Actually, I have it on the right side at where the curved glass meets the metal. Didn't notice it for the first week though which is weird honestly because I scrutinize my devices when I first get them. But yeah it's only a minor annoyance, not worth exchanging it.
Yes, the gap between the screen and the metal ring. Anyone Not have this issue?
I get led bleed.
When the green charging led is on and its really dark in the room. You can see the green bleeding under the black trim and onto the lcd.
Other then that i havent seen any bleeding.
I remember the white models of some of the samsungs phones had bad bleeding.
white note edge
I have it all around the screen on the top and bottom and 2 sodes it looks like its glowing
I guess I'm lucky. No led bleed here but I also have the black version. Are yall using the white?
white note edge
Ok thanks for reply and yes i have the white one

It was a fault with the fone i took it back to carphone warehouse and swoped for a black one rhanks for u help
Yeah ive heard quite a few people with the white one complaining of the bleed. I played with the white one in the AT&T store and saw the same thing. Thats why i went with thevplain ol' black. The white looks much better imo but i couldnt deal with the bleeding
white note edge
Yh samsung told me it was a fault so i took it back and got black i do think blsck is better the back is cheap feeling and the edge looks cheap to glad i got black now
I haven't seen any bleeding from the black Verizon Edge so far, at least from the screen to the home button area. Verizon has a cheap, but very awesome and good feeling case that covers the light bleed between the framework. I never noticed it in the 3 days before I got the case though. Has anyone noticed light bleed on their black Edge's so far?

Yeah I read your post about swapping them out. I originally wanted the white because it looked cleaner, but now that I have the black and after reading all the posts I'm so glad Verizon only has the black one available. I don't blame you, I wouldn't pay that much for something I wasn't completely happy with either.

[Q] Black Sapphire versus Traditional Black

Hello, I already pre-ordered my Samsung S6 Edge (Sapphire Black) but I was just wondering what people who have the Black Sapphire think about it. All my past phones were color black (unless there wasn't my option) and I absolutely loved my iPhone 4. I just love the effect of having a black wallpaper / turned-off screen when paired with black surroundings gives off (almost like the entire front of the phone is a screen where you can't discern where the screen ends). Since the Black Sapphire changes color depending on the lighting + angle, is that sexy effect still there?
Thanks in advance to those who'll reply and share their personal experiences.
Looks black in the dark and sapphire in the light. the effect is similar to some cars that look different colors depending on the setting.
I wanted to know this as well. I ended up preordering the white simply because i didnt like the way the black looked blue when the sunlight hit it.
All the videos i've watched so far were taken indoors where there isnt much direct light, which makes the device look darker.
when outside and with sunlight directly shining on it, it's noticeably blue...which imo looks ugly since i'm not a fan of blue anything
Not trying to change your decision or anything, but wouldn't a good choice for you to be to buy the Edge instead? It seems to have that effect where there's less of a discernable edge of the screen haha.

Yeah, that's what I've been seeing as well. I wish they just went with a Pure Black color, just like the White Pearl.

Yeah, I'm still unsure whether I'll be getting the Sapphire Black or just go for the White Pearl. I've never liked white phones but the Sapphire Black looks too blue in some light which (for me) just ruins the classiness of having a black phone. If they were going for 2 unconventional colors (the green and gold version) they should have just kept the black conventional (like the white).

Remember the blue S3? The phone kind of looks like that to me, just darker. It's definitely more blue than black, at least under normal lighting in my house. Definitely a sapphire color though, and not very subtle.
That being said, I like it, but I'd prefer if it was more black, with a blue sheen, rather than being a deep blue.
I actually really like the black sapphire despite also not being a fan of blue normally. When the light hits it it looks like a nice dark slate blue, and it doesn't feel overly blue to me. The front of the phone is also a bit more shimmery in that regard.
I decided not to change my pre-order for the Black Sapphire colored Edge. Been playing around with my friends' S4s and S5s and couldn't bring myself to like having a white phone.
To be honest I like blue as a color. I just can't deny how sexy having a pure black phone paired with a dark / black wallpaper looks. Well, maybe the changing colors might amuse me for a while... especially if some people I know gets tricked into thinking I bought 2 phones: a black and blue one

Has anyone tried this case? Official Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Clear View Cover Case

Yea and it covers the front. With the concerns of softer materials may be a good choice when in transport.

I also don't usually buy flip cases like that but I think it would be perfect for the Note 7 since it's such a massive smartphone.

My note 4 is bigger, but im digging this case.
I would try it.
After reading horror stories about these types of cases when I had my note 3, I stay away from these style of cases. By horror stories I mean people saying dirt and sand would get in there and scratch the screen when you closed the cover.

I'm using it, and it's great. There's only a couple colors, but I'm really loving it so far.
oh, and it's much less expensive.
I got this case a few days before launch and Used it yesterday and the day I got the phone. Nice case, stylish. Kind of worried about it scratching tho because it is shiny plastic. Also I definitely recommend a screen protector with any such case

Best part about the removable battery is that the flip covers didn't add a lot of bulk since they would be part of the battery cover.
I love the clear view flip cover case, and it rarely gets any fingerprints on it. Shows all the notifications on the cover. Samsung redesigned it from last year's model, and it can no longer scratch your phone due to a new raised lip on the inside. I have the blue cover on a blue phone, and it's really beautiful, the back of the phone almost looks like it doesn't even have a cover on it, yet it never gets any smudges on it.
I got the black version of this case. The time and other bits that were visible under the case had this "glow" around them ... ie. they made the clock and the rest look fuzzy. I didn't think I could deal with it so I returned it
Also, the always on display of the Note 7 doesn't work with it. I kinda like this feature of the Note 7.
I'm digging the case but it has its downsides. Not much functionality apart from viewing notifications (tapping it tells you to open the cover to view it) and snoozing and dismissing alarms. No AOD, although, i understand why, because the clock is in a static position. But what's bugging me the most is the background color. I can accept the rest but not this. You'd think it would be black but its not. Its grey instead and lights up the whole screen making the magnet and the strip that connects the flap to the rear very noticeable in indoor lighting and in the dark. In darkness you can even see the inner rubber lip because the screen is lit. Being an SAMOLED screen why couldn't they keep it pitch black and only light up the clock and notification pixels?? I came from a HTC 10 with ice view case and that was so flush and better looking than this and that phone has a LCD!
Still rocking the clear view but I really wish it would just have a black background that's all. You can't seem to notice it in video reviews or outdoors as much but once you see it yourself, you'll know what I'm talking about.

The blue version does not show the magnetic strip or the side flap at all when it is lit.
Only one disappointment on this case. No AoD. Maybe Samsung can modify the software to provide AoD also with the case closed.

Really? No silhouette of them? Wonder why it's happening with my black one then. I've read about it happening on the s6 edge sections too and that was with a blue case if not mistaken. I've ordered a UAG Magma anyways. I want the AOD and off screen memo.

I purchased the gold color case and I don't have the problem you have. The background of the screen is black. Not grey. And I like the case as it felt solid. I like the edge of the case with silicone around it. And i bought OEM screen protector to protect the screen, because my Note 4 S view cover scratches my screen last time. The Screen protector works very well too, not peeling up at the side.

Damn that ain't cool (for me) lol. I like the case too apart from the background color, makes it look a little cheap to be honest and I'm using the samsung screen protector as well. I've tried all the possible display options to see if it was one of them causing it. Reset the phone too, took it out and back into the case and same thing. I'll see if I can get some pictures up to show.
Edit: You can see in this picture I googled how it looks to me. Notice the silhouette of the flap and the magnet. You can also tell the whole screen is lit coz its plenty bright and if I lift the cover just a little bit to peek under I can see the background is grey

Prism Black vs Blue

I'm getting the S10e in a couple of weeks, but I'm still debating which one to get. Black? Blue? Green? Even the flamingo pink looks great, tbh. Any input?
They all look great, but my favorite is the green one, followed by the yellow, followed by the white, followed by the black, followed by the pink and finally followed by the blue.
However, I only had the white and black to choose from, since "ThEre iS No DeMaNd On OtHeR cOlOrS" in my country.
Go and check them up at a store and see which one sparks more joy in your life.

Thorough answer, 10/10
I LOVE Prism Green, but after seeing it in person that changed. Renders of both Green and Blue are absolutely lovely, but green looks dull IRL, and Blue has a strong tint of violet, if my eyes are to be trusted. Black looks best IMO, but looks boring in renders... agghhhh having too many choices is a burden sometimes.
I had the same dilemma, ended up with white. It's very slick and not showing fingerprints.

Not really a fan. No fingerprints showing is a definite plus, though :good:
You should see it in person in white color, maybe you will change your mind. [emoji6]

Mine is yellow ;}.
Got my yellow one today and it looks amazing
If you're able to see them in person, do that, and go with your gut. No matter what, you're going to second-guess yourself. But you'll do it less if you pick the one that feels right at first.
In case you can't see them in person: To me, the black looks like a very dark silvery navy (with some purplish-ness) from many angles). The blue comes out as very light silvery blue (with some purplish-ness).
The camera hump is tinted to match the phone's color somewhat. The blue one is a light-medium blue. I liked the idea of being able to see a little blue, even if I got a case that wasn't translucent. For that reason, I picked blue over black.
By the way, get a case!
Love my blue 10e.
I got the Prism Black and one thing i noticed is it does have a dark blue tint to it.
Went with Black. Will update you once I actually get it lol for now still stuck on a 6s

I love my canary yellow one. It is not the standard black, blue or white that's been there for so long.
No offence!!
The green was also a little "flat" to me too so only way to go is yellow.
Not everybody (guys) dare to take this bold move and make a statement that there should be more color options available to personalize it.
I took the prism BLACK one. It then looked better than i thought. I was suprised if i you turn the back side against bright light or against the sun. The back color gets brighter. Turns into a bright gray/grey-blue/grey-green color. But nevertheless, i have a back cover so i only see the black front bezel. I have no advantage of the overall color the phone has.
Even the seemingly black color looks very good. You get a grey mirror look on the sides and the back. Only the front is deepest black.
Alright, so I've had the Prism White and Black in my hands for a while now. There is one thing that really bothers me about the Black one: as many of you have pointed out, it is a very deep shade of navy. I saw a black regular S10 at the store, and I don't remember it being navy. Are we sure the colors between the s10 family consistent?

There are many "leaks", if all are true what color is everyone thinking of getting?

There are many "leaks", if all are true what color is everyone thinking of getting?
I am torn between a few of the leaks I have seen. The white looks really good to me, probably my first choice. After that it is a toss up for Bronze, Blue, Green.
What is everyone else thinking?
Copper.
Copper is definitely first choice.
Ive had a version of blue for every note going back to the beginning. For some reason I think Copper is calling my name. Its different.
Maybe I'll go with the black one. I put a Pitaka case on, so the color itself doesn't really matter at all to me. Maybe I'll do the copper so I can have a nicer colored S-Pen?
Copper, since its the same as my Note 9
Once you go black, you never go back!
I was thinking copper but I'm afraid it looks more like pink.
Black or white for me!!!
Sent from my IN2017 using Tapatalk
I'm with Shook, "copper" looks like rose gold to me so I won't be having that. Blue or black here.
Samsung chose some of the most boring colours for the note 20 Ultra.
The copper is horrid & black is boring.
I'll probably go for white, I had the Pixel 4XL in white & it was ok.
What happened to the Canary Yellow of S10e...Now that would have been a fab colour to have on the Note 20 Ultra.
Black, because 512GB
