[Q] Edge Light Bleed - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After 2+ weeks, I just noticed light bleed (in total darkness) at the bottom left corner, corner of recent menu button. Anyone else getting light bleed?
You can only see it while the recent button light flashes on.

Not on a screen tough....
You talking about gap between screen and metal side (left corner)...yes at night I see light coming from there...we all got that.
Cheap ass samsung:victory::laugh:

Actually, I have it on the right side at where the curved glass meets the metal. Didn't notice it for the first week though which is weird honestly because I scrutinize my devices when I first get them. But yeah it's only a minor annoyance, not worth exchanging it.

Yes, the gap between the screen and the metal ring. Anyone Not have this issue?

I get led bleed.
When the green charging led is on and its really dark in the room. You can see the green bleeding under the black trim and onto the lcd.
Other then that i havent seen any bleeding.
I remember the white models of some of the samsungs phones had bad bleeding.

Yeah ive heard quite a few people with the white one complaining of the bleed. I played with the white one in the AT&T store and saw the same thing. Thats why i went with thevplain ol' black. The white looks much better imo but i couldnt deal with the bleeding

Yh samsung told me it was a fault so i took it back and got black i do think blsck is better the back is cheap feeling and the edge looks cheap to glad i got black now

I haven't seen any bleeding from the black Verizon Edge so far, at least from the screen to the home button area. Verizon has a cheap, but very awesome and good feeling case that covers the light bleed between the framework. I never noticed it in the 3 days before I got the case though. Has anyone noticed light bleed on their black Edge's so far?

Yeah I read your post about swapping them out. I originally wanted the white because it looked cleaner, but now that I have the black and after reading all the posts I'm so glad Verizon only has the black one available. I don't blame you, I wouldn't pay that much for something I wasn't completely happy with either.

[Q] Light bleeding through white plastic

Hi, I had my note for about a week and a half and I noticed a lot of light bleeding through the plastic around the screen. Is this normal or should I be worried? Thank, RandomAwesomeGuy.
I never had any light bleed on my Note. I got it for two weeks now and everything seems fine. Maybe try to contact Samsung support or anything. As I've read around here, light bleeds are pretty unusual with Samsung's builds.

Same
I have the same problem. Not really sure about it but i can't return mine until I fill out the warrenty card, it doesn't really bother meq though.
There are reports of light bleed in notes unfortunately most of the tablet suffer from this if its new tablet just get it replaced. Though light bleed is not a sign of hardware failiure but note not put together properly
It is pretty bad, there is a lot of blotches on the screen and the plastic rim is bleeding light. Like I said, the tablet is about 1 and a half weeks old, and I still have the plastic protection around the sides and back . Does any one know if Bestbuy will exchange it?

[Q] White Nexus 5: how it looks after some time

Hi everyone!
I've been thinking of getting a white Nexus 5 (i really like the black-white contrast, and even the white touch for the ear piece). On thing I dread, though, is discoloration on the white back side or turning yellow or getting dirty or ... etc, etc...
I know there have been some rumors that the white back of the N5 is prone to discoloration, prominent marks from wear-and-tear, yellow-ish spots and so on..
Since the N5 has been launched for some time now, can anyone with a white model share his/hers experience? Did you suffer from discoloration or marks on the white backside over time?
Note: I did search the forum for such a topic and I know there is one that discusses the differences between black and white versions. I just wanted a new thread that is focused on the way the white N5 survives the test of time and wear-and-tear.
Mine is just as pretty and white as when I received it on Nov 5. No staining or anything like that at all.
Just as white since launch. I put it in a case for obvious reasons and it's flawless. I rather pay for a new case than a new phone.

I can confirm that. looks like day one
I'll go ahead and back up what these fine people have said. There's no discoloration at all.
What about scuffs from wear and tear? How easy does is gather scratches (from laying down on a table etc)?
What about the black shiny sides? Do they gather scratches and dings?
Thanks all for your answers so far!
It all depends on how a user treats the device bro, some are more cautious then others.
My white one started to get some discolouration, especially around the corners (I used it without a case, but kept a pant pocket exclusively for it). Beware of blue jeans that fade, it does rub off onto the phone.
I've heard of people complaining about scratches around the black edge but mine doesn't have a single mark on it anywhere and I've never had it in a case (bought late December)
I throw it in my jeans pocket or suit jacket, never had a case on it.

Thanks for your input, @daisun! I'm sorry to hear that! Could it be possible to post one or two photos with the discolored or affected areas of the phone?
The jeans thing sucks. I had a white One X and, fortunately, I didn't have any such problems with it ...
The pair of jeans I was wearing were brand new and hadn't been washed ever, so it was at its peak 'phone staining' state. The discolouration is very very slight and you probably couldn't tell in real life due to shadows and lighting. It also doesn't show in photos because the whitebalance of the camera will simple disguise it.
I've since sold the white phone in case it discoloured anymore and bought a black one.
Put a case on it. Mine looks like the day I received it.
And for the record. Scratches on the side of a white vs black is shananagins

Little round white spots on screen 2 replacements.

Hi guys,
I have replaced the screen in my nexus 5 twice now. I purchased the screens from Amazon. The first screen on white backgrounds I would kind of see a square image on the screen in white. It kind of looked like the outline of the battery. It also had a few white spots on the screen. I tried loosening some of the screws but it didn't help. I contacted the seller and he recommended another replacement. He sent out another screen plus digitizer and frame.
The new screen arrived and I put it in. This screen is a lit better. I know only get 3 tiny white spots about the size of the screws in the nexus 5. Two look like they are where the battery would be inside the phone. The third is about 3 quarters of the way up the screen in the middle and slightly to the left. Why does this keep happening? Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing this?
One thing I have noticed is in the dark with the screen on around the sides of the phone in places I can see slivers of light shining around the screen. It seams that the tape that the screen provider used was not sticky enough. Could this be what is causing the white spots? The screen seams firmly attached at the top and bottom just the sides. I heated it up with a blow dryer and held the screen down till it cooled. It slowly goes back to the way it was.
Thanks,
Rocky
Light bleeding from the edges of the frame in a dark environment is not uncommon with 3rd party screens. Putting on a case can help a lot.
As for the white spots, it may be a manufacturing defect that has nothing to do with the way you assembled the phone.
So there is nothing that can be done about the white spots? I don't understand how both screens did this. Seams like there is a very high failure rate. From comparison and matching numbers s to the stock digitizer the replacement seams to be a stock digitizer and frame. The white spots are annoying.
It's possible that both screens came from the same production run. I used screens from aliexpress and only one had a bit of light bleed around the frame. Once I put on a case, you could not see the light bleed.
None of the replacement screens had any dead or stuck pixels or hot spots.

Just got the S8 and the screen has a red tint (just like korea)

I have turned red off in colour balance, I have tried a different display formats and can't get rid of it. what's worse, is that at the endge of the screen it's a red GRADIENT so even if I get it close to white, it will never be even

Is this while viewing straight on or at angle?
This is crap. Samsung will ever get their screens right?
Pics please
Mine has a very slight red/pink tint on the right hand edge as you look at it straight on. Goes away when you tint it to an angle. Something obviously isn't as it should be but it's almost like the curved edge is causing it. My S6 Edge had nothing like it though.

agreed, a couple of others on another forum I post on have the same issue, looking straight on doesn't help because of that graident around the phone.

aluminum color

hey guys, i have a galaxy S6 for two years now, after a couple of months i noticed that the part of the aluminum which my hand touches when i am holing the phone turned black, i am almost sure it's because of the sweat, now i am planning to get the S8+, and i want the orchid gray color, but i am afraid to face the same problem, and the only solution is maybe to get the black one....what do you think?

Well maybe try using a clear case or bumper?
I have had flagship Samsungs since the S1 (every years flagship and most times went from S to Note and then Note to S) and the only phone where i noticed any sort of silver shreading was exactly the Galaxy S1.
I guess you can get the black one, but you are the only person that I see having this problem.
You can always get a skin or a case.
I got the S8+ orchid gray and to me it was a no brainer between the 3 colors, the orchid looks Silver, gray and purple depending on the light reflecting on it (with some lights it looks like the coral blue color, even) - most people like the black better, but that is a fingerpront magnet, and the orchid gray barely leaves prints that you can see
One more comment, although you did not call for it, be careful coming from a S6 to a S8+, it is not a one handed phone whilst the regular S8 trully is and you still get the 5.8". I came from a S7 edge (before that a S6 edge+ and before that 3 different note models between the mix) and i can tell you that it is impossible to get a thumb to the notification tray (I swipe the finger print scanner and then pull it if i must 1 hand). Only reason why I got the plus was the battery that will actually last a whole day of abuse.
Have a good day
