7.0 s7e root? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

Can I use chainfires root to root my 7.0 beta g935f? No, right?
(((I can't see anything android version-specific about the root file?)))
Don't mind me, I'm just a pleb.

Yes,
7.0 Installed, TWRP and Root.
Xposed is not Ready for 7.0 so dont expect it to work or any time soon
(Expect the same time Xposed took to port to MM)

Download TWRP
Put phone in Download Mode.
Add TWRP into AP Slot.

Once completed, Power down Device, Power On Holding down Power, Home and Volume up.
Wait for the TWRP to Load, Swipe acrosss, Hit wipe, Type Yes.
Wait some time.

Stock 7.0 Beta: Everything working
After flashing TWRP, no-verity / supersu: Wifi, USB not working
So i guess it has something to do with root.
Edit: Ahhh silly me I always forget to wipe
Edit2: Still, Wifi not working. Flashed 7.0 Beta through Odin, then TWRP through Odin, Wiped data in TWRP, then sideloaded SuperSU through TWRP

Ok, thanks, will reflash.

Guys, "wipe" as in, wipe (delete all apps, wallpapers, images etc.)? or wipe cache or smth?

Worked fine here... using SR3-SuperSU-v2.78-SR3-20161103171345.
Interesting... Lost WiFi too.

You need to format data, so press wipe in twrp then on the bottom right, press format data! Put the ROM on your SD Card because formatting data will wipe absolutely everything from your internal storage.

Ontheedge is still pretty buggy so I would like to have stock + root. Have you actually managed to get THAT working with Wifi?
Ill try the new SuperSU and report back
Edit: Nope, no change

Hi.
You need to follow the steps in order for enabling xposed. The zip file which needs to be flashed and the app are required. Prior to lollipop, you don't need to flash a zip for xposed..
Secondly, no CWM recovery is available for the device and also, CWM is almost obsolete. TWRP is better as it is a touch based recovery and more user friendly.
Third, a Chinese cm12.1 was available but I don't speak Chinese and I need a Baidu account to access the download link.
Thank you for your reply, i finally have my xposed working, with your help. but it seems that some mods are not compatible, i searched whats compatible for f1 plus and i dont see any forums about it,gravity box not working fine. I saw some mod working with 5.1 but still not working with my f1plus, sorry for asking too much but maybe you have a list that is compatible for f1plus, thank you in advance...

Yes. ColorOS is a heavily skinned version of Android and most Xposed tweaks are designed for stock or near stock Android.
However, Greenify works like a charm

Hi. Annoyed with some questions.
I am using the google translator, so I apologize if something is not understood.
1) Does this ROM have the security patch updated?
2) How do I not download the update to 5.0.2?
3) If I wanted, can I update it? How do I do with the TWRP?
Thank you very much for your help and your work.

Guys, here is the ZIP to update via TWRP,
https://mega.nz/#!wA8C3RJJ
is the backup of my entire system, it contains boot, recovery (stock) and system partitions, it's safe to flash due I made a full wipe of the system before doing this backup. Should be easy to update as a piece of cake.
Copy the uncompressed file to the root of your MicroSD card should be something like TWRP/backups
1. Reboot into TWRP
2. cancel if ask for code
3. Don't allow system modifications
4. MAKE YOUR OWN BACKUP just in case
5. Optional, erase data, always is good a fresh install
6. Go to Restore
7. Select system and boot.
8. Reboot and enjoy

Uhm.... I'm not sure you have well understood what I mean...
If you are still STOCK and update to Nougat, remaining STOCK yet, (only unlocked bootloader is needed I think...) and before flashing TWRP and/or obtaining root, you can boot on TWRP without flashing it.
If you do so, you can take a full stock boot, with (original) /recovery too and with untouched /boot & /system...

I rooted my Nougat A9 by following these steps:
Flash TWRP 3.0.3 -> wipe data (don't restart) -> flash SuperSU 2.79 SR3 -> Reboot to system and SuperSU works like a charm!!

Did you solve the problem yet? you may try to delete TWRP folder in your internal and external storages they will reboot twrp and required your permission to write again when you go to recovery mode next time. and it will be flashable (as my experience)

Nope, im talking about while running the system, it works fine in twrp, i actually solved this by changing the permissions by checking all the boxes with es file explorer.

Can't/Won't update via Local Upgrade

I can't seem to make the Local Upgrade work. The zipfile doesn't show when I hit the Local Upgrade, even if it's in the root directory.*
Got the update from Oxygen OS Updater.

The file needs to be located at /sdcard/filename.zip
The filename needs to be OnePlus......zip from the download.

Are you rooted? If so you need to download the whole update, not the just the OTA.
If you Use Magisk download full zip. Around 2 Gb. you need to uninstall Magisk mod's if you have any.
Settings > System > Local Update > go where the Oos.zip is. Flash it. DON'T reboot!
Open Magisk > Downloads > TWRP A/B Retention script. fla****. Reboot to TWRP.
Flash Magisk 19.3 Stable. Reboot to system.
If you want to clean youre system flash Tomatot Debloater. I use the Light version.
Check your internet connection.

This is not the best way to ask for help. It's best to provide as much detail as possible. What OOS version you are currently on, what OOS version you are trying to update to, what you tried, the specific results, etc.
The 1 or 2 times the "local upgrade" option didn't work for me, I simply deleted the OTA file and downloaded it again. It appeared that the file was possibly corrupted during download. Once it was downloaded again, I just copied/moved it to the "main" storage directory, and the local upgrade option picked it up and installed it just fine.

I solved it was the slider in my case
OnePlus T-Mobile variants aren't allowed to peform local upgrades. This could be the issue for some who are reporting problems installing downloaded OTA updates.
I got it to show in local upgrades but it won't allow it to install just like the reg ota FW DL. I changed the end of the file from jar to zip. It shows but not allowed like the normal ota. TIA.
