I rooted my Nougat A9 by following these steps:
Flash TWRP 3.0.3 -> wipe data (don't restart) -> flash SuperSU 2.79 SR3 -> Reboot to system and SuperSU works like a charm!!

Did you solve the problem yet? you may try to delete TWRP folder in your internal and external storages they will reboot twrp and required your permission to write again when you go to recovery mode next time. and it will be flashable (as my experience)

Nope, im talking about while running the system, it works fine in twrp, i actually solved this by changing the permissions by checking all the boxes with es file explorer.

ES kind of master for file editor and file management :fingers-crossed:

Hate to necro-bump, but I have yet to find a version of TWRP that works and doesn't bootloop

Hi cofface, thank you for your recovery and root.
I have a question. Your recovery make backup with strange path - /data/media/, but user-accessed area of inner-memory have path - /data/media/0. So we don't have easy access to backup via PC connection. Is this possible to change path for backup?
my phone is stuck at odin when i flashed it , its stuck up in the " setupconnection "

It's impossible. Now i use this ROM and when i install it, i can't see this error. Please delete and replace ROM on your SDcard and try again. Don't forgot make factory reset.
This problem may be due to interruption of replace. You can't get some error's when you replace ROM?

TWRP-saga-2.8.7.0-unofficial.img is the recovery for normal saga ROM. On the other hand TWRP-recovery-sagaopt-2.8.7.1.img is the recovery for sagaopt ROM. So it is depending on which type of ROM are you going to flash. You could notice the type of ROM by their name whether it is saga or sagaopt. This ROM is saga I guess so you have to use saga recovery. Please do not mix them up, otherwise it will not work. Thanks.

Guys, here is the ZIP to update via TWRP,
https://mega.nz/#!wA8C3RJJ
is the backup of my entire system, it contains boot, recovery (stock) and system partitions, it's safe to flash due I made a full wipe of the system before doing this backup. Should be easy to update as a piece of cake.
Copy the uncompressed file to the root of your MicroSD card should be something like TWRP/backups
1. Reboot into TWRP
2. cancel if ask for code
3. Don't allow system modifications
4. MAKE YOUR OWN BACKUP just in case
5. Optional, erase data, always is good a fresh install
6. Go to Restore
7. Select system and boot.
8. Reboot and enjoy

If you are rooted/with TWRP installed simply don't do it...
P.S.: if you decide to install it (and all go fine... ) could you kindly boot on TWRP (not installing it, only booting to it from fastboot...) and without modifying system taking a backup of: recovery, boot, system? Thank a LOT!

Uhm.... I'm not sure you have well understood what I mean...
If you are still STOCK and update to Nougat, remaining STOCK yet, (only unlocked bootloader is needed I think...) and before flashing TWRP and/or obtaining root, you can boot on TWRP without flashing it.
If you do so, you can take a full stock boot, with (original) /recovery too and with untouched /boot & /system...
Was it already clear?

Capacitive button fix
Some people have the problem of missing capacitive buttons. The reason for this problem is not flashing a recovery but probably because something during firmware upgrade went wrong.
I made a custom kernel which should fix the capacitive button problem. This kernel also allows disable of SELinux with setenforce command.
ONLY for OREO
New: Proto8 kernel includes my capacitive fix. Download it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/kernel-proto8-kernel-t3780551
Old method with kernel compiled by me (not recommended, use Proto8 kernel instead):
Download kernel
B360: http://www.mediafire.com/file/6n1wfbxtp09orda/KERNEL_B360a_TOUCH_FIX.img
B362: http://www.mediafire.com/file/c6yayg8sp2tvach/KERNEL_B362_TOUCH_FIX.img
B366: http://www.mediafire.com/file/opc9ilg6x5uzyvk/KERNEL_B366_TOUCH_FIX.img
Flash with fastboot.exe flash kernel KERNEL_BXXX_TOUCH_FIX.img
Reboot into android and check capacitive buttons (enable them in settings if necessary)
Flash stock kernel again if you want
After flashing and used this TWRP the capacitive buttons and camera flashlight are still working?

Yes they do, atleast on my phone. Haven't tested other functions yet.

You are on Oreo right? Anyway have you tried to root? Works all?

Yes I am B360 to be exactly, and I can confirm that rooting with Magisk works perfectly, buttons and flash keep working and safety net is not triggered.
Well tried to do a backup of my system and noticed that it failed to mount /system.
Logs are attached
Edit:
It can't mount rw, read only works as expected.

Via custom recovery:
Download the latest Magisk zip file
Reboot to a custom recovery and flash the flashable zip
Reboot to system, and check whether Magisk Manager is installed and the version matches the latest one in the OP
If for some reason Magisk Manager isn't installed/upgraded automatically, please install/upgrade it manually!

Does TWRP need system rw for backup? Anyway, Huawei added write protection in memory controller. So in order to mount system rw, a custom kernel is required. If you need it I can compile a custom kernel. Note that recovery and system have the same kernel now in Oreo.

To be honest I am not sure, you can back up without a problem (system) but I needed a few tries to restore but it worked. But I can't back up data.

Data backup in TWRP does not work because the data decryption is not officially supported by TWRP.

Ok, i've flashed this TWRP, buttons and flashlight still working. Flashed Magisk v16.0. Root works, but SafetyNet is triggered.
------- EDIT -------
After reboot, SafetyNet now is not triggered!

It works, thanks!
If i remove Magisk and flash SuperSU NetSafety will be triggered? In a future a flash of stock rom and a total remove of root will turn off SafetyNet or it will be triggered forever?
A working version of SuperSU with this TWRP and Oreo B360?

New version released. Fixed native decryption now and backup of /data should work properly. Let me know if it's working.

Screenshot shows that SU-binary isn't present - at least neither in Android's /system partition nor in Android's /vendor partition.

Have neither used TWRP nor Magisk: both for me are absolutely senseless. I exclusively manage my Android devices by means of ADB / Fastboot. And if root is needed to perform things then I install a temporary root.
