Hi it seems the ability to install apps is disabled for this head unit.
There is a forum about the Honda Pilot's head unit and they have been able to install apps by accessing the head unit from a computer.
Some people have successfully used it on 2016 Accords, but I do not know if it will work on your 2017 accord.
Since the 2016 and 2017 cars look the same I assume it should, but do your research first and read through their posts.
The forum is at :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-how-to-gain-root-shell-2016-honda-t3487644
I also have a 2017 honda - I don't think the 2016 hacks work.
hi any update to get honda to work
UPDATE: Just to let you know guys that wireless adb port is already open on Honda accord 2017 headunits by default, therefore there's no need to enable the developers debug mode.
I was able to root it by the following tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-how-to-gain-root-shell-2016-honda-t3487644 made for Honda Pilot.
After the successful root I've installed HondaHack.apk from this https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-how-to-enter-developer-mode-2017-t3621582 enabled the Pro mode to gain all the features, that allows you to install apps from flash drives or online without the hassle of pushing it manually using the first tutorial made for Honda Pilot.
Apps Installed:
[Waze - Sygic - Spotify - Anghami - Plex - Netflix - Kodi - Newpipe - Dolphin Browser - Root Explorer - Aptoide]

The company I work for has received some Dell Aero's for eval. We mostly have iPhones and WM devices deployed. I have been playing with the Aero. Interesting device. Has anyone been able to get side loading done on the Aero? Also there is not toggle 2G/3G option so I cant force it to 2G.
While the phone has it's issues I would like to get some other apps loaded on it.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Any updates on this? bitung did a great job here. I know its an old phone but I have one just sitting around I'd love to tinker with or turn into something to play emulators on/as a gmote.
You realy did a good job for this. My friend has one Dell Aero and he would like to upgrade to 2.x.
I did try my best to hack it but currently I still hasn't finished completely. This device could ROOTED by SupperOneClick easily. I also obtained the source code from DELL open source with release 2.1and built them sucessfully. But I wasn't able to find a good way to produce a ROM image like HTC etc as the flasher to be used for this device is different. I did try the TAVOR platform flasher that you provided but it didn't work. From the "flash mode" screen, we could see the bootloader provider is "Borqs", so I used firebolt instead. I found the firebolt is definitely a correct flasher for this device but it reconginized mff ROM file formate. As the Dell Mini i3 from China is similar with this device, so I try to download a "DELL_MINI3I_OMS1.5.ophone8_E034.mff" to flash it. But the firebolt seems block as some "IMEIBinding..." message. So I think we did need a original ROM from Dell to initial the workk first.
Because after I shell to the device with ROOT, I found it didn't have recover partition like other common device, so a original ROM would be very helpful when error occurred to restore back. The way I could try only now is manually install the 2.1 that I built with adb shell. But it would be easy to brocken.
sideloading still an issue
Hello all
I rooted my device form this other post on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-643868.html
I even pulled the settings.db from /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/ and changed the install_non_market_apps to 1 but when i try to install an .apk file the security block still pops up. I dont know where else they have enabled the block.
I can install apps from the computer through adb, but I would like to install apps on the go without the need for a computer.
Thanks a bunch

hey hi there alan, I'm gurwinder. i'm frm india. here in india online shopping websites have lured us for buying dell aero at very cheap prices, i think lot of people have bought it online. but now all of them are facing lots of problems this phone has.
1.first of all this phone has locked access to everything we can download limited apps from Google market...yes android market because its not updated version, have 1.5 cupcake version and it doesn't allow system to be update...there is no option to download update to operating system in mobile. it so it doesn't allow any root app like z4root or superoneclick to be downloaded from android market...neither we can download it on desktop and transfer it to phone...it is no use because such is not allowed to be installed in phone..
2. we seriously want to upgrade the android operating system but cant do it..
3. there is a urgent to need to root this phone because we have very limited access to rights.... it is like we are provided with a desktop with a guest account....so at&t and google have every admin rights to this phone
so i thought going online and asking for help form you guys....you guys are expert and i know you will surely help us
thanks...

Dell Aero 2.1 Factory Update
I am Not responsible for bricked devices , dead SD cards, Thermo nuclear war , dead pixels or breaking your WARRANTY . Read only if know what you are doing . It can easily make your smartphone a smart paperweight.
Dell Aero a great phone with android cupcake now can be updated to 2.1 eclair .
1. Works only on windows xp so either use a windows xp PC or run virtual xp mode on windows 7 . ( Google Virtual Xp mode for windows 7 )
2. Download and install Firebolt. (http://www.mediafire.com/?f45haso0nklvfxf)
3. Enter flash mode on dell aero by pressing all buttons and holding . Power button should be held in the end . Phone should be powered off while holding button combo.
4. Connect phone via USB cable to the PC . Open device manager search for unknown device TAVOR . Update its drivers by searching the folder C(local disk):\program files\borqs\firebolt\drivers\usbdrivers\ or where you installed the files. Once done you should see an USB device named MTK bootloader in device manager.
5. Download firmware and extract it . (http://www.mediafire.com/?26b744sedds2yu4)
6. Switch off phone take out the battery. And open Firebolt and set it to look like this.
7. Press the button in red circle and select the extracted firmware file(.mff).
8. Connect the phone WITHOUT battery via USB cable to the PC.
9. Press flash(black rectangle) and insert battery together .
10. If the phone powers on in flash mode ( Green Screen with Flash Mode written on it ) let the software flash the phone. Elif try the step again.
( This method doesn't give usb error like the engineer method in which you turn the phone on flash mode first and then flash it . )
( If error occurs or flashing doesn't start try reinstalling the drivers or get the drivers signed)

I was able to root it by first installing the pdanet drivers (for adb access). And then using the kingo app, which you can get from http://www.kingoapp.com/.
Its free but closed source. I found it via this youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MiZtZCqu4k
Worked even with the 1.0.2 update installed (which I have no clue what it did (17MB).

I also have this tablet(purchased on black Friday from Walmart like everyone else) and mine doesn't seem to have that option anywhere. in fact, compared to the previous two android products I have, this device seems to lack ALOT of available functions. though I am capable of navigating a recovery menu at boot. but that doesn't do me any good for using pdanet. that seems to be my biggest road block. pdanet wont install because the onl;y way I can allow my device to connect to my pc with adp is using the adp updater in the recovery boot menu.

It is a hidden option that needs to be enabled. Follow this guide: www ninjaromeo com / enable-usb-debugging-developer-options-jelly-bean/
I just enabled this option on my Walmart BF 7" RCA RCT6378W2 tablet.
Sorry I had to mangle the link because XDA wont let me link external sources yet.
Glad I could help a few. Now, someone get on a functional recovery ;p
I have poked around a little at the stock recovery, backing it up, etc.. But am not brave enough to try and get CWM working on it.
I was able to use th Xposed framework for a few mod's no problem. Battery mod, reboot menu, hide navbar, etc.. But Xposed can only do so much.
Edit: I heard on reddit this tool also works for rooting. I have not tested it (already rooted with the other method).

Getting Debugging to work.
I was not drunk when I made this post...I have the RCT6378W2 if you go to about tablet in your settings and repeatedly tap the build number...the deveolper options will appear...I fell out of my seat when i discovered this.
On a side note...if you repeatedly tap the android version...a cute picture of the android jellybean will appear. Try it.

1: Install drivers. Seeing as RCA does not provide drivers, we had to find some that work. That's where PDANET comes in. Their drivers support a very wide range of Android devices. We are not installing it to tether. We just want the drivers it provides. So download PDANET, install, let it detect your device, install the drivers, and then afterwords you can uninstall it.
2: Enable Developer Options. Settings>About tablet> Tap Build Number a bunch of times till it's enabled.
3: Enable USB Debugging. Options>Developer Options>Click On (up top)>Then checkmark USB Debugging
That should clear up some of the confusion in this thread. How you root after step 3 is up to you. Personally, I did it with Kango. Which was straight forward. Connect device, hit a button, Say yes to a couple questions, reboot, presto done.

Thanks, that sorted things out.
To make clear, and aid in any other inquiries, I managed to find an ADP connection mode, among other android update features. with the device off, hold volume up while turning the device on. it should boot to an image of an android with an open chest panel and the words, "no command". if you push volume up again it will provide you with options and instructions on how to execute. you can manual update the device with an SDK through USB ADP mode this way. I'm not sure if that makes anything simpler or generates a work around but I hope it helps with future development for this device.
Well got root now we need a recovery...
For some reason when trying to make sure I can send adb commands to my tablet, I am showing no devices connected. I check in device manager and it shows up as Android ADB interface for the tablet. These drivers were installed with the latest version of PDANet. Thoughts or how were you all able to get the drivers fully loaded and working? I have developer options already enabled and USB debugging mode is checked.

Android 4.2.2
Kernal 3.0.36+
PDANet+ 4.12
Windows 7 64 Bit (I also tried it on my windows 7 32 bit computer)

You need to create "adb_usb.ini" in "Users>Username>.android".
Inside "adb_usb.ini" insert "0x2207" and save.

I had this problem too. make sure you're using the most recent version of pdanet. for whatever reason the older version just hang there and dont work right.
Installed the latest pdanet. It wont install the driver. I checked the device manager and it still shows the device without the driver. not sure what else to try..
Hello Guys,
I have a Hilti Laser PD-C device that runs:
android: 4.1.2
build: sparky_silver_2.3.15
I want to note that all apps should be arm not x86 but Im not sure of the DPI.
This runs a special modified Hilti rom. I would love to be able to get a custom rom and add more apps. I am willing to toss some donations for this. Has anyone done anything with this device before?
**** Update: ****
I was able to get root access via PC version "KING_ROOT"
http://king.myapp.com/myapp/Kingroot/kingroot_pc/KingRoot_pc_en.exe
1. I downloaded the most current sdk for ADB
2. I also downloaded the Hilti update app.
www.hilti.com/updatepdc
3. I was able to use King_Root even while the app didnt see the device and it recognized the device after I clicked connect.
4. The main ROM is very difficult to get around. You cant just click an app you side-loaded. Download a launcher that matches the android version. I used smart launcher, no reason, just the first I found. Use ADB to sideload on to the device.
(adb install "app name") https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/smart...1-build-054-android-apk-download/#description
5. From here I got full control to the apps I sideloaded. I am still having issues with connecting to BT on my note9 for the internet.
It is what it is... But thanks for the help. I hope anyone else looking finds this.

Hey guys I'm having (what I think is) a driver problem with V4A. I carefully followed the installation instructions posted here:
https://www.crvownersclub.com/threads/sound-upgrade-replace-eq-with-viper4android.197753/
But keep getting this message saying the driver needs to be installed. After clicking OK it says to reboot the system only to pop back up again upon restarting in an endless cycle. I'm using the
- Superuser.apk
- stericson.busybox_62-212_minAPI15(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk
- Viper4Android 2.5.0.5
I can't seem to figure out how to fix this. My car is a 2016 Honda Accord. Android Version 4.2.2 is on the HU. When I view the driver details in Viper is says Version: 0.0.0.0 , Status: Abnormal, Enabled: No, Audio Format: Unsupported, Etc. So that's leading me to believe the driver isn't properly installing for some reason. Any ideas on how to fix? I've seen this video on youtube:
But since I don't have a good way of viewing file structures on the car's HU I don't know if this method would work for me.
Any ideas?
Hello!
I have a 'smart feature phone' that apparently runs a heavily modified version of android 8.1. I am wondering if there is any method that I can use to install custom apks. Here's what I've tried so far:
-Downloading an apk file amd using the file manager to install it: caused an error (see picture)
-Enable dev options and activate usb debugging for adb: pressing build number does nothing. pressing other lines does nothing.
The weird thing is in theory it has the ability to install and update facebook and whatsapp through the internet. In addition I cannot seem to remove any icons on the home screen, nor is there any setting fpr specific applications.
Any ideas on what I can do? Any possible exploits that I can utilise on 8.1 to enable adb? I'm stuck here.
