[Completed] How can I programmatically enable/disable 3G on android? - XDA Assist

Hi Guys!
So I've been doing a lot of digging around the internet and the latest I can find (can't post links but google "Latest update on enabling and disabling mobile data programmatically" for stack over flow answer from a tear ago) is that if you want to turn 3G on and off from your app you need root access. Now I just tried to root my old phone with (kingoapp, one click rooting) and it won't get past the loading screen for the last hour so I'm not too keen on rooting any more phones!
My questions are...
Is this still the case? You can't enable/disable 3G unless you have root.
This is a personal project and the app does not need to be downloaded by other users so is there any way I can do this from the USB connection maybe?
Thanks

[Completed] [Q] Vast TCP6 connections

Did several searches here on XDA and with Google before posting this thread-
I purchased an LG V400 Gpad 7 a week ago. After rooting it I installed OS Monitor, busy box , a terminal emulator and Droidwall- I have a little bit of experience with Android but am by no means knowledgeable.
The tablet does not have a place for a SIM card i.e. wifi only. I find even using Droidwall to try to cut down connections to the outside world, that there are a bunch of TCP6 connections either close/wait or ack/wait or established. I have been using Elixir to discover processes and kill or disable them when possible. Many times kill only results in a respawn. In addition to this killing isn't persistent i.e. next reboot everything is back. A number of them for example LG Hidden menu, G System server, LGATCMD service - and others- seem to want to 1)establish outside connections 2) looking at their permissions, they want to know everything and 3) some of them aren't killable even through the terminal emulator i.e. kill -9 pid#.
I like what the tablet allows me to do. I don't like everything talking to the world in process of this. Couple of questions 1) is there a way to get rid of this crap- why for example since its not a phone do I need LG Hidden menu running and establishing outside connections and 2) Anyone know of a ROM here on XDA that might work with this tablet?
Thanks for all of the expertise here - any suggestions would be deeply appreciated..

[Completed] [Q] 2.1 device, no play store, app for enable adb wifi when charging?

I'm using a rooted Nook NST. The forum there is a bit quiet. I'm not getting any replies to my search.
What I need to find is an app or method to automate turning on wifi, and enable adb-wifi when charging. Ideally also to take a wakelock to stop sleeping. This can allow me to automate adb sync.
But we're stuck on Android 2.1 REL. We also don't have Google Play service since that effects battery.
How do I find an app that will work?
I looked at making one with AppInventor2 but it doesn't have a way to detect if a charger is connected.
Hi there,
Since you are a Senior Member and you know where is your dedicated device forum I think the best place for asking is there. Or you can try searching thru this forum for an app that match with your needs:
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Apps and Games
Or ask for that here : Your Google Play Store is blocked? Search/request your app here!
And please read our stickies threads.

[Completed] Verizon lg lucid 3 vsv876 Rom help

I have a lucid 3 that was a gift to me from an old friend. I'd live fully customize it but there is close to no development done for this phone.
To manage things worse there's an issue with the current software. I baby sign in to my Google account from the built applications wizard. I can't get on the store or use any of the built in Google apps note the apps that rely on a Google account being attached to the phone. It says that the connection is unsecured, unreliable, or non existant.
I really need a full stock recovery to begin with. This issue began after a master reset abd ding a second one produced no changes at all.
And any custom Rom that is functional would be amazing. I love this phone and i'd love to really are what it's capable of doing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

[Completed] having problems rooting Android double din radio...need help!

Hey guys, I'm not new to rooting as I've done many devices, but I have to say the project I have now seems impossible. ...
I have and Android double din radio that I purchased of of Ebay, it says it is running android 4.4.4 jelly bean...It has so many restrictions, I can't access bluetooth settings/but will connect to any cellphone with no problems. ..and the USB access is very limited as the manufacturer seems to have hidden these features to make more profit on THERE OWN OBDII sacanners and tv box etc that you HAVE to purchase from them ONLY!, or those features WILL NOT work....
I love the fact that I have android in my car but this limited access is very annoying.
ANY help would be appropriated, thanx!

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
We cannot provide technical support nor can other members reply to your posts here on XDA Assist and it's difficult to direct you towards a specific thread since you give so few details about your device but I suggest that you ask your question with all relevant details in the dedicated "Android Auto" Forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/, maybe in the "Android Head Units" subforum there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-head-units where members familiar with your device might be able to advise you.
Good luck!
got it!
I did end up rooting it!...I used (Root Checker) and I am officially rooted...
But, I am still having a problem finding away to access the Bluetooth menu in settings/wireless & networks....
Any ideas?

Hello again.
On a traditional Android device, Bluetooth is typically an entry under "Network Connections" or a similarly named menu. As mentioned earlier we cannot provide technical support here on XDA Assist, but if you ask in the forums mentioned earlier, another member may be able to assist you.
Once again, good luck!

[Completed] Bluetooth hacking for android

Hi, I recently paired my samsung galaxy note 5 bluetooth with a stranger, who wants me to transfer a video i was taking for an event. I paired and transferred the video over to him but I cancelled it mid-way coz the file was over 700MB in size. The whole process probably took about half to 1 minute. My concern here is whether within that short period of time, was there any possibility that my phone would have been compromised, hacked and my personal data taken ? Thanks.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
It's conceivable. BlueJacking, BlueSnarfing, and BlueBugging exists. And personal info is rather small. Not to freak you out, in that time it's possible for the other device to download your encrypted passwords top be cracked at a later point.
Probable is a different question. Depends partly on how much you trust this stranger. Personally, I would be looking to change my passwords just in case.

Hi Jim, thanks for the info and pointing out to me the right threads to go to. I will post my questions in the relevant threads. I have also registered myself an XDA account.
On your comments on resetting the passwords, I think I will do it. Though it will be quite a big exercise. But better to be safe than sorry. Anyways, curious to know, besides my encrypted password,s what are the other data that someone might be able to retrieve via bluetooth within that short period of time?
Cheers,
Raymond

I'm no expert on security; what else comes to mind is IMEI and cell phone number, maybe even address book. Unlike the password things, there really isn't any control over mitigating that.
Hopefully your encounter was on the up-and-up.
