Hey guys, I'm not new to rooting as I've done many devices, but I have to say the project I have now seems impossible. ...
I have and Android double din radio that I purchased of of Ebay, it says it is running android 4.4.4 jelly bean...It has so many restrictions, I can't access bluetooth settings/but will connect to any cellphone with no problems. ..and the USB access is very limited as the manufacturer seems to have hidden these features to make more profit on THERE OWN OBDII sacanners and tv box etc that you HAVE to purchase from them ONLY!, or those features WILL NOT work....
I love the fact that I have android in my car but this limited access is very annoying.
ANY help would be appropriated, thanx!

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
We cannot provide technical support nor can other members reply to your posts here on XDA Assist and it's difficult to direct you towards a specific thread since you give so few details about your device but I suggest that you ask your question with all relevant details in the dedicated "Android Auto" Forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/, maybe in the "Android Head Units" subforum there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-head-units where members familiar with your device might be able to advise you.
Good luck!
got it!
I did end up rooting it!...I used (Root Checker) and I am officially rooted...
But, I am still having a problem finding away to access the Bluetooth menu in settings/wireless & networks....
Any ideas?

Hello again.
On a traditional Android device, Bluetooth is typically an entry under "Network Connections" or a similarly named menu. As mentioned earlier we cannot provide technical support here on XDA Assist, but if you ask in the forums mentioned earlier, another member may be able to assist you.
Once again, good luck!

Hi there
the company that i work are developing an android based eco drive system. and i have been asked to do some research on it
the first obsticle we will face is actually connecting the device to the can bus. I have found a bluetooth however, im wondering wether this will work and wether there is a better way this can work
the system will have to work on almost any android device this is why i believe that the bluetooth system will be the best
also can any one direct me to a half decent Android dev site. i am a complete beginner with android development and really have no clue where to start and google is being proper vague
i hope someone can help :-S

Hey,
I have worked quite a bit with CANbus and I am aware that there are some good Bluetooth based solutions for linking to the vehicle.
Be aware though that CANbus is hit and miss with data and it is completely dependant on the manufacture what data is exposed to the CANbus, so certain vehicles may not have all the data you require.
As for Android development, best place to get started is the Androids own Reference, examples. I would post a link but I am new here, so just google Android Development and it'll be the top result.
Other than that I can only suggest googling/youtubing tutorials like with any other development.
Gentlemen and ladies,
As stated in the title I have a cheap MID M1050 Tablet rocking the 4.0 Android OS. Works fine for what they were purchased for but I am doing a job which requires the ability to access Ad Hoc networks which this does not do well. Sometimes it will see it, sometimes it will connect to it and sometimes it will anger the tablet gods and then it will not connect to any network. Being new to the rooting community, I was directed here for questions and answers but I haven't found the area for this particular device so if there is one, please link me to it because I searched the hole site for this model and it returned nothing.
My main question would be, if a successful root was done on this device, would I have either:
A) Greater functionality in the wifi abilities, i.e. able to connect to Ad Hocs at will
B) Any ability to change the way this device connects wirelessly so I make the changes I have found to enable the Ad Hoc connectivity
If so, would rooting with a custom ROM be similar as other tablets rocking 4.0 or would this one have its own way to go about it?
Not asking for someone to hold my hand through this but would like some opinion, links, and any documentation you would have on the subject. Looking to start my rooting on this simple device for the above and to play with battery conservation.
I assume this post is located in the wrong location and if so, mods please move it to the correct area. As is obvious with my first post, new to the forum and hoping to meet some helpful people on ye ol' internets.
Thanks all.
Assuming this means no one is familiar with this brand or model which I expected. Ill poke around on Google some more and see what I can come up with and post my findings here for others to search. Very curious on the Ad Hoc and Android OS issue and guess I will post that question in the Networking section if I cannot find a suitable answer searching the site and Google.
Thanks again.
I'm using a rooted Nook NST. The forum there is a bit quiet. I'm not getting any replies to my search.
What I need to find is an app or method to automate turning on wifi, and enable adb-wifi when charging. Ideally also to take a wakelock to stop sleeping. This can allow me to automate adb sync.
But we're stuck on Android 2.1 REL. We also don't have Google Play service since that effects battery.
How do I find an app that will work?
I looked at making one with AppInventor2 but it doesn't have a way to detect if a charger is connected.
Hi there,
Since you are a Senior Member and you know where is your dedicated device forum I think the best place for asking is there. Or you can try searching thru this forum for an app that match with your needs:
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Apps and Games
Or ask for that here : Your Google Play Store is blocked? Search/request your app here!
And please read our stickies threads.

I’m looking for someone that can write / edit firmware for Android. Specifically the menu that appears after you boot up an Android TV Box. Nothing too complex; I just want to customize the menu for my TV Box. Or if you can point me to any tutorials so that I can do it myself. TIA.

Hello, and welcome to XDA Assist!
I don't know if that would count as editing the firmware per se, more like hacking an APK (unless it is indeed more low level than an app). In that case, a tool could be helpful.
Not knowing the model name of your TV box means I cannot provide a direct result, but check this forum out:
> Android TV and Stick Computers > Android Stick Computers
Please note, you will need to be an XDA member before you can post.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
Hi Guys!
So I've been doing a lot of digging around the internet and the latest I can find (can't post links but google "Latest update on enabling and disabling mobile data programmatically" for stack over flow answer from a tear ago) is that if you want to turn 3G on and off from your app you need root access. Now I just tried to root my old phone with (kingoapp, one click rooting) and it won't get past the loading screen for the last hour so I'm not too keen on rooting any more phones!
My questions are...
Is this still the case? You can't enable/disable 3G unless you have root.
This is a personal project and the app does not need to be downloaded by other users so is there any way I can do this from the USB connection maybe?
Thanks
