I'm using OPPO R7PlusF with CM13 "Snapshot version" with last update on 20/08/2016.
Can I change to "Nightly version" without wiping anything to keep my current data & cache files.
I just want to save time in setting up a new machine only.
Or there is only way to change? Wipe anything then flash new version replace it.
Please give me any best solution for this issue.
I would flash twrp and do a complete backup. Then flash the nightly without wiping data. If it does not work you can just restore the backup.

Sorry for the ignorance.
I have version 6 of custom rom, if i flash the versione 8 I lose data? Or is it just as an update?
thanks
(sorry for bad english)
If the developer tells you to do a factory wipe or wipe data, then you'll lose your data. But most cases when a developer makes a new version, you can just wipe both caches and update your rom without having to wipe your data.

Just to add a little to the previous post.
You could usually get away with just wiping dalvic
As for doing a full wipe where you would lose your data: thats usually only needed if the dev went from one milestone version to another on the ASOP.
Example from a GB based ROM to a ICS based.

What they said above . In case a full wipe is required as noted by the ROM devs, I would recommend using Titanium Backup to backup your apps and apps data before wipe. You can then restore apps + data after flashing the new ROM or update. TiBu has saved me a lot of time restoring apps after a full wipe.
Thank you all for your responses!
This rom (CyberGR-MOD) run the wipe? Is there anyone who uses it?
Do i just download the new version and flash over the existing? Would that wipe my apps out to where i would have to download them again? Thanks

It's always recommended to wipe before flashing, but dirty-flashing shouldn't wipe out your apps.
You have two options though.
You can use titanium backup to backup all of your apps and data and do a clean wipe and restore them.
Or you can make a backup using TWRP/CWM and try dirty-flashing the new version. If anything goes array then just revert back to the old build and do option 1.

I wiped everything and flashed. Thanks
It's always best to do a full wipe. Less issues /bugs that way especially when going to a new build. 4.1.1 to 4.1.2. There were a lot of changes.

Hi,
I have a razr hd xt925 (Rogers Canada). I flashed CM11 unified msm8960 (do not remember which version) then when M8 snapshot was release I updated it using Cyanogen updates and currently I am on version 11-20140708-SNAPSHOT-M8-moto_msm8960.
- Android version: 4.4.4
- Kernel: 3.0.101-g41dd045
- build# cm_moto_msm8960-userdebug 4.4.4 KTU84P c5de078e68 test-keys
With the previous build and this current one, the browser (this also happens with chrome) gets frozen after like 15 minutes of usage, I'd say once or twice a day, then the razr reboots.
Other than that, the device is very smooth and much better than original ROM.
Can you help?
Did you clean flashed?
In recovery when going from a Nightly to a Snapshot one should always clean flash to avoid any issues, that is, wipe data factory reset (this wipes cache (including dalvik), data (not internal data). It leaves your phone in a factory state. Also, wiping the /system partition is a good idea, this remove the OS and makes it even more cleaner to install the rom.

I did that and it went fine for a couple of days then I am back to the same issue. I also did not install any app after flashing. Unfortunately, this will force me to reinstall Rogers ROM 4.1.2 and wait for the official update.

Very weird. You can try restoring back stock and clean flashing directly to the snapshot M8, and see how it works. Also, gapps can be the problem too. Make sure you use CM 11 updated gapps, you can find them here:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
Hope this helps.

I did all that. I refalshed stock ROM then rooted, installed CWM, then flashed cache, dalvik, data, and formatted system. I then installed M8 but still the device freezes occasionally and reboots.

I will try to reproduce your issue to see if this is not only you. I mostly use Firefox for more than 15 minutes, reading and stuff, and have never noticed that. Going to do the same with chrome for the same amount of time and see what happens.

gapps not working after last flash

Hi guys.
Is there a way on how to update the ROM without crashing the Google Play Services? Everytime I wipe dalvik cache and cache. And flash the update ROM including the GAPPS, Google Play Services isn't working anymore that causes all Google Play apps to not function properly. Using Stable G-Apps build 8.x-282 and SlimKat build 8.0. Thanks in advanced.

I'm having the same problem, dirty flashed the latest update, then flashed latest mini gaps, now can't log in to Google servers with any of my ACCTS on this device. Tried reflashing, wiping dalvik and cache, deleting Google accts and restarting, continue to get same error of unable to contact Google server. Any ideas?
CP's
A simple but hard to accept fix is to fully wipe data, cache, system and reflash the ROM and gapps. It should work fine for me.
Wipe system, flash rom, flash gapps, wipe cache, wipe dalvic, reboot.

French translation for SlimKat Launcher
I tried to do my best to provide a french translation for the SlimKat launcher.
And I would also love to thank all the SlimKat community for offering the rom we know today.
Thanks a lot!
@IKill4MySkill please check if this is ok or needs to be improved, also you meight translate the missing parts? https://gerrit.slimroms.net/#/c/15749/9/res/values-fr/slim_strings.xml
I now created a genral thread for SlimLauncher translation - so lets move the discussion about the translation to this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/slimroms/general/slimlauncher-translation-t2913635

First time rooting and flashing on a tablet(done it on my SG3 w/o problems). Ran into the sector 7 error while flashing and now stuck on CWM(6.0.1.1) loop. Dont have a backup to restore from(doh). Did I soft brick my P3113? Tried connecting to Odin again and it says Added while galaxy tab logo is on but then disappears when it goes to CWM after the tab logo. Any suggestions will be appreciated

You need at least CWM 6.0.4.4 - reading the FAQ would have had helped.
Use latest CWM 6.0.5.x for P3110, link in my signature.
Boot into Download mode and flash the new CWM using Odin.

Dirty flashing from 8.12 working fine here ?
F2FS
Just got the stock device for a few days. Would like to try SlimROM.
Is there a F2FS version of any ROM for the P3113?
No F2FS by default. You can try a custom kernel supporting f2fs, but imo f2fs is a needless feature.

insufficient storage issues
Sometimes the problem is that the OS gets confused. I've had this problem many times where trying to update some apps cause "insufficient storage" errors....here is what I did to clear the problem.

Yes, just flash the update, wipe cache, wipe dalvik and reboot!
Does the kernel shipped with the Rom supports "loop devices"? I'm trying to boot ubuntu 13.10 using LinuxOnAndroid and the Terminal just stays at "[email protected]:/ #" command

Hey,
so right now I have android lollipop 5.1.1 rooted with twrp 2.8.7.0 flashed.
I have made a backup in my twrp.
Now i want to know what happens with the backups, if i flash a new twrp version.
I'm afraid that it cant read the old back up.
My plan was to flash the Multirom twrp version, because i want to try and use multirom on this phone, although it is officially not supported.
Multirom thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011403

Multirom won't work on the Honor. After bricking your phone flash the old twrp and you can restore the backups
Can i access the backups, with an other version of twrp ?

not 100% sure but newer twrp cant restore backups made on older version of twrp.( i tried a long time ago and so it may work now?)
generally just flash the twrp version that you made a back up with to restore the backup if you brick the phone to reduce the chance of errors
