Hey guys.
I found out that G3 is confirmed to receive Nougat update in February 2017.
Considering our phones' stronger hardware do you think we are going to receive the update too? I know the Spring and Att versions havent got MM yet but still.
I think it would be a pity if LG upgraded a SD801 devices and not our 810.
I think G3 with Nougat is a bit false information. Because they stated that they didn't release graphics drivers for SD800/SD801
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Well yeah I think youre right. But I so thrive for 7.0 or root on MM,I wouldnt go back to lollipop just for gaming.
It is so horrible that a flagship like this has no root and bad gaming performance that it almost seems unreal
All we Need is root - or hardwaremodification with some heatpipes and stuff
Its certainly false alarm, since SD 801 was discontinued by Qualcomm so it wont get Nougat any time, same goes to Nexus 5, SGS5 and many others. But there is still chance tho, SD 810 is still supported and after G5 fiasco LG might be better to customers. But the chance is really, really small,if we do get Nougat,i think its gonna be in H2 2017,so long time on MM ahead.

Its fiasco for me, not bad phone, but its not available in most parts of Europe, design is not that good and built quality lacks in modular part. LG can do better.

Well its HD2 is legend and is showing what a will of community can do. However, reason behind LGs flagship not getting Nougat is simple, LG dont give a f... as they dont do only phones like HTC for example and they dont earn much as division. That and lack of root tools of LG tools which leads to this situation.
I just saw the HTC Bolt specs which was announced today. Its running Android 7.0 and has exactly the same Chipset, CPU and GPU as Flex 2. So, from hardware point of view there is absolutely no problem that we receive also 7.0 at some time. The question is does they want to upgrade it or not.
Everyone who thinks Flex 2 is getting Android N needs psychiatric consultation.
Im just hopeful here
But still im waiting for black friday to buy another phone.A G5 or Oneplus 3,I cant stand G Flex anylonger,I mean..its a great phone overall but gaming on MM is awful and is not a suitable phone for a power user anyway
I would wait a bit. S7 will get cheaper next year, HTC 10 also, well every phone will get cheaper. G5 isnt bad phone, but im afraid of support, Oneplus 3 is great but you cant actually buy it anymore, only 1+3T. Im checking for HTC 10,it looks very well and its metal,i dont want glass phone anymore after Xperia.

HW isnt problem, Nexus 6P has mostly the same specs and has Nougat for a while, Bolt too. Its only on OEM when and if they publish update. But im worried they wont, original G Flex had same history, got Lollipop after hard times with KK and thats it. Small spark of hope still exists tho,at least until LG will deny update officially.

This is such complete bull. I don't know what is wrong with these companies. Why won't they give us the freedom to use our devices as we choose. Are they that scared of making a loss? They made a brilliant device, but they don't want to support it. What is the point in doing that? I'm tempted to see whether I can sell my G Flex 2 and just buy myself a Xiaomi Note Pro from an overseas company, or something. I love my phone, but I don't want to stay stuck on 5.0.1 for the next two years.

This is how the first G Flex was and is still without an unlock bootloader. I was afraid this was going to happen and was the reason I had skipped this device.
I spent a whole year with the first G Flex a whole year with no root to latest version that it had and no unlock bootloader, development on that device was and still is dead.
If LG says they can't bootloader unlock our phones, then why in the 5.1.1 update we have the "Allow OEM unlock" in the developer settings?
I hope LG have problems or something else with unlock on the g4 so because this they dont release a unlock solution for the flex2. It is possible to encript the g4 bootloader unlock key with the sn and imei? Maybe we can build a own unlock tool for lg phones.

I also had opo before gflex 2. I also miss every day flashing ! But to tell the truth gflex 2 is at another level. Much more powerful even with throttling. I suggest you keep the phone
at least a couple of months. Note 4 (805snapdragon cpu version) is not a good option.
i am confuse?!
I DONT UNDERSTAND ( i have been rooting and changing roms for 5 years on samsungs, but i am very new to phones with locked bootloaders, AKA my new phone.. Lg G Flex 2)
okay so how come it is possible to root android 5.0.1 on Lg G flex 2 but not on 5.1.1
tbh customs roms are great, but now i got kinda bored from it as back in my day i flashed a thousand and now i see less point init, but the minimum i want is root so i can hack apps and try new features, as well as restore my device from Titanium backup
Please dont disappoint me guys. I just bought the phone and i cant sell it anymore cause im gonna make some loss and i dont want to do that.
IS there gona be any root for 5.1.1, and if not.. then please tell me why its not possible, as i heard it worked perfectly in 5.0.1
also my fellow (lg g flex 2) freinds , what do you guys think? we gona get root or not?
what are the hopes our phones can finally leave prison and experience its new FREE Life in the open world of developing.
Ps. for my G flex 2 mates, i think we should all email lg multiple times, and threaten them that we will leave to samsung permanently if they dont fix the issue ASAP¬¬!
with the update to 5.1.1 LG locked the bootloader and made a root impossible (at this time). the G4 has the same locked bootloader, but LG offers you to unlock it with your IMEI and some other numbers from your phone and then you will get a unique unlock code only for your phone. In a statement LG said, that this method is for upcoming phones, not for old models ..
and Samsung, Motorola, HTC, Sony and Google are much better and much dev friendly then LG -.- I won't buy a LG phone again

This really stinks. Rooting and customizing is why I do not like IOS. And LG will be soon on the same list. I already Avdes my client not to buy 350 LG phones for their employees. Such a good hardware but really bad customer relations decisions. Oneplus really looks like a way to go.

I have to say I agree with you. I have mixed feelings about the Flex 2. It is a very unpopular device and since I am on AT&T it will be last to receive any updates. It also is selling for a very low price ( I hate to see the value drop so soon but the more people to own it the better). I just hope we can get root and a recovery or atleast a way to return to 100% stock so when things go bad after rooting we can atleast recover from it.
Hope our flex2 will get the updata~

It's their fastest phone, but the chance of M is probably 20/80. Chance of an unlocked bootloader, 5/95. I'm curious about a stagefright 2.0 patch.

I hope you're wrong about 20/80 for Marshmallow. The phone is only ~6 months old and abandonment by LG would be a pretty miserable business decision. As far as unlocking bootloader, we'll more likely get that unofficially as a result of developer effort (highly unlikely without some LG tech leak) but overall the odds are probably even worse than 5%, especially for those of us with AT&T model.
If there will not be a 6.0 update for this device, i'm gonna buy a freaking iphone and never look back on android ... srsly, i'd be done with it and its fragmentation bs forever. Vendorlock me to apple crap.

Intuitively, logically, and reasonably we should expect Marshmallow and the rumors floating around on the android sites are a good sign, but personally I won't bank on it until LG puts out something official. The original Flex was release only 9 weeks earlier than the Flex 2 the prior year (Oct 27 2013 versus Jan 5 2015) and the first Flex never saw Lollipop.

The Flex and G2 had the same SoC, yet LG abandons it with no apology to users. I can't even find a reason for why they'd abandon a phone with those specs while it still had KitKat. Heck. I don't even understand why KitKat never came to the ATT LG Optimus G despite having the S4 Pro.

I see where you are coming from here, but I think that the flex 2 is much better and more popular than the original flex. I don't fully understand why the deep price cut, but it will dramatically increase sales no doubt.
Sidebar: Thanks again to help me confirm I had bad sensors. I sent the phone to LG for repair under warranty and they replaced the entire screen. When I got the phone back it was updated to 5.1.1, so now I don't have to worry about trying to coerce an OTA (sweet!). Battery life is stellar so far and no heat issues. Marshmallow would be a real treat (pun intended) on this phone, so I will stay hopeful that we'll get it (eventually)
Anyway if LG doesn't keep his word, I won't buy his device anymore

So ive been searching hard. 810 rumors are rampid. Id rather ask you users. Has the throttling stopped since the updates? Was this really the korean model? Or? How does the screen look compared to note 4? I ask because i love amoled. I also like the fact the flex is not seen much in the hand around my parts,of town. Lol. I see development is lacking. Guess no loki? Wonder why sprint would sell the flex 2 with locked bootloader? Oh well. 5.1.1 and up should fix all the lag. Everyone don't wet it! The update will contain Band 12 VoLTE and E911. VoIT is in question? I got this info from higher tech support. Took about 4 days to get official answer. Do plenty of research first. I sent my 6p back because after 4 days of normal use the frame was twisting. It would no longer sit flat. I carried my phone in my front pocket as i have done with all my phones. I also had much worse reception. I constantly dropped to 3g at work whereas with this phone I don't. If on Verizon there is also no visual voicemail so if you have advanced calling enabled you get text messages instead of a notification that you have voicemail periodically. Your mileage may vary but I couldn't wait to be rid of it.

You know Nexus phones get the updates right away.. so why didn't you just buy the Nexus instead of the MXPE? Sounds like a personal problem...
C'mon, apologists. Waiting a few extra weeks isn't the end of the world for most of us, but it should've been out by now, given Moto's near-stock software design. The fact that it's taking longer to update their brand new, revolutionary, carrier-free flagship than some competitors' heavily-skinned, carrier-variable models is a very bad sign about Lenovo's priorities.
If 11 months from now we're finding out that the MXPE will not be receiving Android N at all, we can probably look back to this episode and say: "you know, we should've seen this coming." I'm enjoying my phone, but I absolutely don't blame anyone for hedging in favor of the 6P despite a few weaknesses (no expandable storage) because of Lenovo's poor showing this past 3-4 weeks.
So, go to the dev section and install MM...

Can you link to where Moto/Lenovo gave the MXPE an exact date of when MM was going to come out? Last I heard they were rollin' it out in phases... and even then, there were no exact dates... if peeps want to spend more on the 6P/Nexus and not worry about delayed updates, then they should have bought it, but yet, they didn't and are complaining about the "slow" updates on the phone(s) they 'decided' to buy instead..
Go to the dev section and install those MM updates posted there if you guys are really that bent on getting MM on your device...
I can wait, nothing in MM that I really want, much less need, anyways...
A few weeks is nothing. We'll get it.
This isn't like the Atrix and ICS, where the phone was out for a fair bit and also canned once google bought Moto. The phone is new. If other regions are getting it first, then that's just how the testing works.
They really don't want a repeat of Lollipop. I heard horror stories on how badly that update botched the 2nd Gen Moto X.

Do those dev section roms include T-Mobile B12 & VoLTE support??? That's what many of us are waiting for. If it was only a matter of wanting MM then yeah, that's a no-brainer, but no way I'm going through all that crap for a rom that doesn't have the T-Mobile support I've been waiting for all along.
From what I can tell there is no band 12 in the Indian mm but doze works ****ing wonders on this phone even completely stock. I'm on modded marshmallow now and will switch to official mm when its released. Simple enough

This perhaps not so soon. The phone is old just about a year and a half.

3. LG
10. Samsung
Yep, I went straight to 10 with Samsung because they're piss poor on support
You guys just got lollipop and you think the flex going to get 7.0 lol?

yeah, "got" MM. Just a fraction of devices got the update while majority is still officially on 5.1.1.
At least getting 7.0 on a snapdragon 810 is remotely possible... maybe LG decided to skip MM and go directly for nougat. But then again, why would they. They've probably already fired the last engineers involved in the development and nobody remembers last years flagship phone, even though there are DOZENS of users like us waiting desperately for a newer firmware
There will never be 7.0 for Flex 2 . Please guys, just be real..

No custom ROM for LG G Flex 2 and very slowly update to marshmallow . Android nougat 7.0 is not possible for this phone is fact and real.
I wonder if 7.0 will come with an unlocked bootloader?
lol, only joking

the worst part about is, that someone might think just like that. Two things are infinite - universe and human stupidity...
I had big hopes for actually coming back to a Moto with the release of the G6 but I guess that won't happen now. I see that once again US customers are getting shafted with no G6 Plus version for available which also means no NFC.

According to this. G6 (non plus) does have NFC https://www.motorola.co.uk/products/moto-g-gen-6

Strange indeed. I don't understand why. Here in Europe I already pre ordered my Moto G6 Plus. Been on the Moto G series since the Moto G 2014. But I'm afraid the good Moto days are over. I never received an Oreo update om my G5 Plus... Let's see what the G6 Plus does.

well, i guess the same history will happen with the G6 plus (hope they won't bring G6S to the game like they did to the G5)

Per Motorola the G6 does not have NFC. Maybe in other countries, but not in the US. The response I received from Motorola when I questioned that decision was "Most people in the US don't use NFC". That's the level of stupidity that they've sunk to since being taken over by Lenovo.
No NFC has been what was keeping me away from Moto G* since the G3. Now it's included for us in the UK I'm ditching my awful Nokia 5 for a G6 immediately

When i found out it wasnt coming to the US, the Moto Rep got kinda scared at my reaction. I device MEANT to pull them out of a whole isnt being sold in the USA, for real??? I ordered a Dual SIM XT-1926-7 on Amazon and it covers ALL GSM LTE Bands except for TMOs 600mhz spectrum...I am going to try and find out if it can be turned on....
A couple of weeks ago I purchased a Galaxy S9 and have been happy with it. I'm still feeling my way around, I sometimes can't find the fingerprint button on the first shot and I'm still getting used to the curved screen but overall I'm very happy. I never use stock launchers, especially TouchWiz so getting rid of that was no problem. I actually thought about emailing the Motorola support person every time I used NFC.
Ah well - the usual problem of a low budget phone...
I got a G6+ (with NFC) from extending my contract without charge, coming from the S7. Have it in use for "testing" since Friday and I'm happy. First phone in the bottom price segment that finally does something right - from my experience. Dual SIM & SDCard, decent CPU and RAM, good screen & ok SOT, finally a compass. Screen is a bit big, though.
Will ditch my S7 anyway, this one finally does almost everything I need - except gaming. But that's ok, too.

Funny you say that, i got sick off the Locked Bootloaders on the S8+, Note8 and S9+ and traded my S9+ str8 up for a Google Pixel 2 XL 128GB PanadaAnd i couldnt be happier modding my phone again...S8+ and Note8 had Root, sorta, and the battery would only charge to 80% and i wasnt having it. So the ONLY Excitement i got were Daily Leaked Oreo Builds. We were running Oreo in the Note8 3 months before everyone else.....
I'm loving my g6. Got it just yesterday after breaking the screen on my Nexus 6p. Not much of an upgrade, just a sidestep from a flagship phone for half of the cost. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap phone. I can't wait for development to take off (looks like we're almost there now that there's TWRP being tested) I'm really missing the dirty unicorns features I used on my 6p

I've got an S7 but I'm considering the G6 plus...can you elaborate on why you like the G6 over the S7?
Lack of NFC has stopped me from buying this phone. I personally know 3 others who won't buy any phone without NFC, so Moto is hurting themselves by not including it.
Lack of NFC is a downer. I have an amazfit stratos which has a NFC and it pairs so easily with iPhone but getting the Bluetooth up and running to sync is a hassle on Moto G6. Leave alone Google pay.

I'm sure Motorola is very concerned with losing your business.

dont get your hopes up for development on the g6. the most you can do is flash a treble based rom, very few work though.

Could you kindly elaborate on the Bluetooth and audio issues and their possible fixes? I've been thinking of giving Treble Roms a shot on my G6+, but the negative feedback on those issues has held me back. So as not to hijack this thread, if you have the time, you can comment through PM if you'd like... Thanks in advance.
