Shield K1 1.5 update - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I've just got the 1.5 update for the K1, but I was wondering if I can use flashfire to flash it like I did with the 1.4 update. I'm asking because this update is very small, I think it was 25mb also I have used this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792531 to get my Xbox wireless controller to work by editing the keylayout files, would this affect updating as the files are in system/usr/keylayout

I did, it only upgraded the security update. I can't figure out how to make it show 1.5.
Do you mind telling me the exact steps? I tried to flash the ota file in TWRP but it fails every time.

What do you mean mate, have you flashed the 1.5 update with flashfire, and have you done the Xbox wireless controller mod?

I use Nvidia controller.
As I said, yes I flashed with flash fire. It gave me the new security update, but will not show me as being on 1.5. I don't know if that's normal since I always used TWRP to flash OTA.

no it should flash the whole update but i think it needs to be the full ota but im not sure if the xbox controller mod i did will affect the update

I kept selecting full ota.

I'm having the same issue as OP. It doesn't appear as if a full update will download using the upgrade option (yes, the full upgrade option is selected). It's just a 26mb patch.
Flashing the patch doesn't work either.

Yeah I know, maybe they will release the full version soon, but do you know if editing the keylayout files will affect the update?

So whats up with Hulu in Mikfroyo

Im sure its been asked before.. but how come it wont play? Do i need a new flash update? Says it doesnt support my phone or some crap
I'm thinking the best place to ask that question would be in the ROM thread.
I'm using MikFroyo 4.4 and it was working fine. The initial fix was to the FlashPlayer.apk. There has been a recent update to FlashPlayer on the market, if you downloaded that update, that would probably cause it to not work anymore. Try uninstalling the update (if its even installed).
it was actually working just fine with the flash in 4.4 but they have since put out 1-2 new updates to Flash since then, and it broke my Hulu also. Uninstalling the updates made it work again!
Hulu blocks mobile devices. People have been getting around this by tricking the site into thinking it's a windows device by hex editing the .so file. I haven't been able to locate the most recent edited version of Flash but the previous version has been posted on XDA.
I just flashed MikFroyo today and the Hulu works on mine.... I havent updated the Flash that I know of..

Easiest way to watch Hulu is to use the app that Mik included with the rom. After you choose video you want to view, make sure you click the hourglass when the window appears.
If you are trying to use your browser to use hulu.com, you need to change your browser settings to NOT view as a mobile website, and it should work fine as well!
Also, I am pretty sure if you update Flash from the Market you will lose the hulu mod.
Hope this helps!

[Q] Updating to 3.2 from rooted 3.1

I've looked high and low, but I can't find info on updating to 3.2 from root. I'm mostly terrified of losing everything I have setup on here when I update. Mostly just apps, movies, pics, and my layout. Can anyone put my fears to rest about updating? And can anyone provide a link on where I can get my hands on the update to install manually since it won't do an automatic update?
Thanks
lav0C,
If you are running the stock ROM and have CWM recovery installed,
you can use CWM to update to the latest 3.2-9 (8.6.5.9):
1. Update from 3.1 (8.4.4.11) to 3.2 (8.6.5.6) using the ZIP from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190877
2. Update from 3.2 (8.6.5.6) to 3.2-9 (8.6.5.9) using the ZIP from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234734
It worked for me!
Regards,
Eric
I have an overclock rom on my tablet. I don't think I can do it this way. I tried to flash the rom but it just spits out an error. It's able to mount it and everything, the moment it trys to impliment the changes it says that it was aborted. Any ideas?
Also, I have the Netflix patch. Not sure if that will cause problems too

You're right - the CWM updates I listed are for stock ROMs only.
You may have to 1)un-root and go back to Asus standard HC3.1,
2) update to 3.2-9 with the Asus OTA updates, and 3) re-root.
I think your data would be safe during that process, but I'm not sure.
how do I safely un-root?
I used your method to attempt to put 3.2 on after updating 8445 to84411 but i got stuck in a boot loop and had to flash Prime 1.5 to get it back on.
any suggestions?

Need stock recovery.img from 2.1

I have a 16GB Shield bought in the UK and I need the stock recovery.img (I'm on the latest Lollipop build). Can anyone upload it please?
It would be much appreciated
I can't seem to find the full image for the latest Lollipop update either so I could extract the recovery.img myself.
There isnt one yet... I suspect its the same recovery as in 1.2 (if your specifically looking for the recovery partition that is). I did a reload from 1.2 then upgraded to 5.1 (Nvidia removed the 5.0 OTA and now goes directly to 5.1).
I have to say, since did that, almost everything is working properly on 5.1. I suspect 1.2 to 5.0 to 5.1 caused some minor annoying glitches..

Ah I see. Could you point me in the right direction as to where to download that? (16GB WiFi Shield bought in UK, I literally just need to flash back the stock recovery.img)
I signed up as a developer on the US Nvidia web site... a few hours later I received the approval then downloaded from there. I suspect it is the same process except from the Nvidia UK site.
Here is the site where I went (scroll down to NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet WiFi Recovery OS Image ):
https://developer.nvidia.com/gameworksdownload
And look here!!! I stand corrected! Nvidia updated to 2.1 recovery late December! Nice!
Try the same but on the UK site.

Can't update to Marshmallow

Hi there,
So i had an OTA update available, I started downloading it and then I stopped in the middle because I had to leave the house, when I got back I couldn't continue and now whenever I try to check if there is any available update it says I have the most updated version which is 5.1.1 does someone knows how can I install OTA again?!
thank you!
Don't now. It was pulled due to WiFi issues. In the update settings clear out your residule stuff and reboot. Get it when it comes out again.

thank you and I formatted my shield for nothing
If you ran the OTA and it failed you can restart the update by going to \data\data\com.nvidia.ota folder on your Shield and delete the OTA.zip file then run the update check again.
I'm still on 5.1.1 not getting the update to 6.0 on my originals replacement tablet! Did everybody on the original get 6.0? Saw the k1 was to get 6.0.1 soon.

Nvidia Shield Portable Update 110 - Does Anyone Have Full Download Link

Hey Guys -
Along with my Shield tablet, I own a Shield portable which is currently on Update 106, is rooted, and uses TWRP. Update 110 obviously came out about a week ago as well as a new update for the Shield Tablet. The only way I know to install it on a rooted device without loosing data is to install the Full version via TWRP. I've downloaded the one for the tablet, and plan to install, but cannot yet find the one for the Portable.
Does anyone happen to have a link to the Portable's Full Update 110? Thanks!
I'll see if I can re-flash to stock 106 and nab the file for you (if it lets me).
Okay, so reverted to 106 build successfully. Now downloading.
Silly question (I used to know but forgot, damned if I can search now that all results come up with the Tablet) but where specifically do the files download to in stock?
Hey guys, Full STOCK Update to 110 is available here: https://developer.nvidia.com/gameworksdownload
