Can i use this charger with my r?

i have bought tablet few days ago and i got usb charger with it (i mean a charger with usb port at end)
that charger have output of 5v and 2000ma
stock samsung charger have output of 5v and 700ma so i thought that if i can use that charger maybe it will help to charge my phone very fast as it have output of 2000ma.
can i use that charger with my galaxy r? can it damage to my phone or it's battery?

It would not be recommended as it may actually damage the battery or even the charging circuit which charges the battery in your R if it can't withstand the higher rate of charging.

A higher amp output should be ok.
A higher voltage is the one you should be worried about.

Simple Guidelines When Buying a Charger
Use the correct charger for battery chemistry. Most chargers serve one chemistry only.
The battery voltage must agree with the charger. Do not charge if different.
Within reasons, the Ah rating of a battery can be higher or lower than specified. A larger battery will take longer to charge than a smaller one and vice versa.
The higher the amperage of the charger, the shorter the charge time will be. There are limitations as to how fast a battery can be charged.
Accurate charge termination and correct trickle charge prolong battery life.
When fully saturated, a lead acid charger should switch to a lower voltage; a nickel-based charger should have a trickle charge NiMH; a Li-ion charger provides no trickle charge.
Chargers should have a temperature override to end charge on a malfunctioning battery.
Observe the temperature of the charger and battery. Lead acid batteries stay cool during charge; nickel-based batteries elevate the temperature towards the end of charge and should cool down after charge; Li-ion batteries should stay cool throughout charge.

One more reason why we should be extremely cautious when using other chargers is that when using the charger provided by Samsung I have observed that the charger cuts off the supply to the battery when the battery reaches 100 %.
It may not be the same when using other chargers which will lead to over charging the battery. This continuous over charging can reduce the life of the battery.
Lastly you can experiment as much as you want ( BTW that's why most people are on this forum ) its your decision, but see to it that you are not damaging the battery or the handset in the process.

Its not the charger that cuts off power supply to the phone.
It's the memory chip inside the battery that supplies information to initiate the cut off.
That is why it's highly recommended to use original batteries in ur phone so that the phone will not burst into flames !!!
A Smart Charger, on the other hand, has a built in circuitry that does the cutting off and after that continues to trickle charger the batteries to maintain the charge on the batteries. U can usually see this for car chargers.
These chargers cost way more than ur average Samsung charger.

today i thought i should give it a try
i used stock micro usb to usb cable to connect with that charger and plugged in but something weird happened
when i plugged in charger screen lights up with with notification tone as usual but touch screen stopped responding
both touch screen and touch sensitive buttons stopped working only home button was working after removing that charger all things started to work again normally really strange

Battery overvoltage... Or not?

I use a Samsung wall charger which outputs 5.0V and 0.7A to charge my phone (I alternate it with USB 2.0 charging via PC). However I checked CPU-Z after the battery reached 100%, and the voltage read 4340mV but health was in Good status. Unplugged the charger and voltage went down to 4296mV. So far I haven't gotten the Overvoltage status, but I want to know if it's a normal thing or should I use another charger?
Another thing is that when I turned on my phone, it had 94% of battery after a charge from 15% to 100. But did charge it again because I want to do a battery calibration.

How can I switch between quick charge and normal charge?(there is a label on the charger "Quick charge", So for normal charge I should buy a new charger?)
Will quick charge harm the battery(In long usage and compare to normal charge)?

you can use a certified quick charger or normal charger. Its just the normal charger will take longer..
They have made the quick charge work in a way that it charges fast until it reaches 80%, and then gradually decreases to 'normal' up to 100% full, so in the long run it should have no harm to the battery.

there is no option. you can either use a QuickCharger or a normal charger..
But as i said with a quickcharger it Automatically changes the amperage as it gets more full, so as to protect the battery.

Any charger will do. Not every charger will charge the phone as fast as the original one though.
Using an Anker 5-ports charger here, without any issues, obviously.

Really!? Two damaged battery of HTC devices after use Samsung chargers about a mont. Personal experience!!!

OK, i don't want to argue with you. Just share opinion. And for some reason the manufacturer pay attention to use genuine chargers (attached pictures).

those warnings are for non technical minds.. because they done pay attention to technicalities.
Any charger will work, but you do need to take note of the output Voltage mainly...
Amperage will just mean how fast or slow it will charge..
- If i were to use a 9v 2A charger on a 5v 2A phone, i think it may cause harm.
- a 5v 1A charger on a phone 5V 2A, will just mean it will charge half as fast...
- just like when you plug your phone to computer USB port, it charges at 5V 500mAh (0.5A), hence why it charges slowly

Mine also came with a slow charger. When I plug it to my portable battery, it can still be pretty fast (and hot...)

With stock UCH 12 charger it takes my phone about 1,5h to get fully charge. 30min to 60% and 1h for the rest. It seems like Sony disabled any type of QuickCharge above 60% to prevent battery damage and it doesnt matter what type of charger you would use alter that - it will stick to 1000mA all the time.
Two things:
1) are you using QuickCharge charger?
2) do you or any of your apps use phone while charging?
Any of those would prolong charging time.

Try to keep it turned on then. I guess Sony could set offline charging to minimal settings and control QuickCharge with software. Try "Ampere" app to check how many ampers are you getting while charging (download from play store, no root required). It should oscillate from 700mA to 2500mA. If not (e.g. stuck at 1000mA) it means your charger could be defective and should be exchange for new one.

man. I got 75% in an hour while the phone was off :/ using the same charger as yours so there must be a problem, try to change the cable

Guys does anyone know if the USB type-C cable which comes with the non-fast charger is 3.0 Quick Charge compatible?? I've ordered a Anker 3.0 Quick Charge charger just wanted to make sure the cable is.

My case is even worse, tales 3 hours to charge from 13% to 97%

XZ support QC 3.0 so it should be able to charge from 0%(theoretically) up to 100% 1h40-1h50 using a QC 3.0.
During my few weeks i've had this phone (recived with UCH20 charger) i tried to test phone's ability to charge quickly and failed it took usually 2-2h20 min with original charger. I've ordered chinese charger (sony's UCH12W is 4 times more expensive, even samsungs and htc chargers are much more cheaper).
During tests (using ampre) i tried to start charging when battery dropped to 10%. I used 2 charges original UCH20,Tronsmart WC1T and 3 USB-C cables 1x original, 1x unknown chinese, 1x tronsmart(original included with a charger).
Conclusion:
UCH20 is slower, Ampere won't show more than 1560mA 10-60/70% then something around 1100mA and 780 or less 90-100%
WC1T is faster, 10-60% 2220mA (or less depends on throttling/temperature) then about 1500mA to 90% and less than 1000mA (usually 500-800mA) 90-100%
Tested with onvo adaptive charging on, stamina off, wifi on, brightness auto (0-40%), there was no difference betwen cables only unknown chinese cable was slightly slower but that is only my opinion. Battery temperature oscylated between 26-37/38°C(Ampere)
This phone will only fast charge up to 60/70% then it slows down a bit and last 10% is slow, it should preserve battery health yet still allow you to charge it quickly when in a hurry so u can use it for another few hours until you'll get back home and plug it for a night.

I ve recently brought Anker PowerPort+1 charger QC3.0 compatible and used stock Sony cable and max output I got was 2180mA max using Ampere too.. What my question is now what should the XZ be drawing max? near 3000mA?? Battery care Off.
Ive ordered PortaPow 20AWG cable it states its also QC3.0 compatible so lets see how much it get and if it makes any difference to the charge times.
I will post my results in the next 2 days.

Slow Charging!

My 1.5 year olf Q6 is charging very slowly. The battery backup is still 1 day. But the charging rate is very slowly. It shows 3hrs+ for a full charge! What can I do?

get a minimum 2 Amps charger, this phone supports quickcharging (at least thats what i see, and what others said). the stock cable is fine but you might have to try another cable if your charger is already a quickcharge compatible. i can charge from 0 to full in about an hour with 2 amps, you might get better result with a better charger brick but i can't confirm.

I have a V30+ charging brick. That's QC 3.0 Will it work? EDIT: just tried it. It doesn't work. My phone has never shown Fast charging. It just shows charging. The stock brick is 5V1.2amps.
Which brick do you have?

i forgot to tell you it won't show anything that tells you its on quickcharging, the only thing that shows is the faster charge estimation, please try again and observe. my charger brick is a samsung adaptive fast charging with 2amps maximum rating, your charger should be better than mine. borrow another fast charge compatible brick if necessary, and also cable quality matters. else, welp might be hardware issues...

Tried a fresh cable and the stock charger. The old original cable was the culprit for the slow charging time. Charging time has come back to original fast levels. But it's the same with the V30+ charging brick. Don't have another phone that's QC. But will try if I get an opportunity

I'm using Battery saver in Maximum mode (with VIbration enabled) + Comfort View (highest level) with Grayscale. With moderate usage, it takes two days to drain the battery after fully. Though I recharge it at end of every day for an hour for the battery durability. I've also replaced Home with 'ap15 launcher which for me has proved lightest and most practical one.

My lg q6 canadian variant came with fast charging. It's region dependent. Though i don't know if you had fast charge on your variant

Same as my DSK unit. Charging slowly for about 5-6 hour with original wall charger
