FIXED. Lost serial number // Galaxy S7 softbrick // SPRINT - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I have somehow managed to lose my S/N completely from my Sprint S7. Doesn't show in Settings > system status.
Only shows IMEI and MEID info for "#*06#."
Peeled sticker off back like an idiot .
When I 'Home + vol down + pwr' then 'home' only shows MEID
So essentially- in a nutshell- I'm trying to repair my phone with Kies/SS, they are requesting my S/N and none of these numbers work. Somewhere along the way of rooting i wiped my S/N from my S7 no idea how...if anyone could be of any assistance it would greatly be appreciated!

Try updating the firmware with Odin and you will be fine! You can download the orig firmwares of sammobile.

Look at the backside about an inch from the bottom. You might need a magnifying glass or a loupe.

The most current firmware sam has is outdated right now. I updated my firmware right before so i keep getting a FAIL (AUTH) prompt in Odin...Cause you know i couldn't have made this situation more difficult . & For the numbers on the back of the phone none have worked for smart switch.

UPDATE: Phone is now soft bricked.... No idea how just does a pulsating vibrate loop upon boot.

So where im at now, phones showing an exclamation mark with the use recovery prompt. Have access to download mode. Flashing stock firmware fails through ODIN with (auth) code. No serial number to use kies or SS. The only way to get this OS stable again is through Odin with the most current firmware...which was just released like 2 days ago & I can't find ANYWHERE. otherwise this is a really expensive brick plz help!!!!!

Well if you have a G930F then i would just download a other region firmware that is newer then yours. This should do the trick and why didnt you keep the box of the phone?

If the S/N eched on the back of the phone doesn't work with SmartSwitch, then there really is something fishy going on. Maybe the phone is blacklisted?

No it is because it is a sprint phone they use DEC not S/N and are not compatible with Smart switch recovery...talked to a rep lastnight stupidest thing I've ever heard.

SM-G930P you're right but as of the other nights update i can't find the most current official firmware that ODIN will authorize.

The MEID by DEC replaces the IMEI used in other countries. This is an individual unique identifier related to the cellular networks and is not controlled by Samsung. The Samsung serial number on the other hand is up to Samsung and this is the number you use with SmartSwitch. It could be that Sprint phones are not compatible with SmartSwitch, but this can not have anything to do with the MEID DEC being used instead of IMEI. I would think that the other US networks uses MEID DEC instead of IMEI too and so you mean that they too are incompatible with SmartSwitch?

I don't mean to assume that it isn't compatible at all, but what the rep told me is that sprint does not use S/N but instead DEC & the DEC # is not compatible with smart switch. It may be compatible but from everywhere I've searched a S/N does not exist for my phone. Spoken to sprint and samsung about it...

UPDATE: further information, my phone was rooted and flashed with ODIN. everything was fine until i went through the steps to re enable my service. i disable a couple things in buildprop.editor, restarted my phone and got stuck in a boot loop. I can access recovery but i flashed twrp so it's custom.

UPDATE: I have gotten the firmware information from sprint. I need the G930PVPS4APJ2 firmware. If anyone can be of assistance with this it isn't available on sam yet.

Vietnam S6 soft-bricked upon flashing 5.1 update !

I am creating this thread on behalf of @k_kasadze, who was seeking help from me using pm.
It looks like he has soft-bricked his Galaxy S6, whose model no. he says is indeed G920F without any doubt, by flashing the 5.1 firmware. I find it strange, because he did get PASS message on Odin, as shown by the screenshot below.

Can anyone help? As far as I know, you cannot downgrade after flashing 5.1.1. And you can't install TWRP either. Please correct me if one can install TWRP, in that case, he could restore from TWRP. I think he can still boot into download mode.
Ask him, to boot into stock recovery and clear cache + factory reset

tried a lot of times but I think there is something not flashed correctly. But after finishing the process odin says 100% pass.
SOLVED - bootloop after installation france 5.1.1 on G920F
SO who has similar problem I fixed the problem this way.
1) flashed TWRP RECOVERY 2.8.7.1 via ODIN
2) downloaded custom rom XtreStoLite-2.0-Odex-Pure-ROM-Final-XXU2BOFJ
3) flashed it and my phone is alive plus root and TWRP recovery
I have no idea what to do...
So I'm in the same situation as you, I was doing all sorts of flashing and stuff but something went wrong along the way.
So I have the very latest twrp installed and I connected to my pc, yet I can't move files over for some reason.

OK so I was on the unbranded S6 920F and as the signal was pretty bad thought I would try the H3G latest stock firmware .on Sammobile.
I am on 3 anyway so hoped that using that firmware the modem may have been better. I did the usual and it failed at the end of the cycle same as you.
Did that several times and tried with smart switch, wasted loads of time then tried the first one that was released for 5.1.1(France) and it passed and booted normally.
Not a clue what happened maybe the H3G Rom BOfj was a corrupted file, though very unusual from sammobile.
Edit.
Ironically the signal actually appears better on the france 5.1.1 than befor on AO3 5.02..will update after a few days

No Network Issue after DC Phoenix Factory image flash

Hi All,
I bricked my phone pretty badly couple of days ago. It was not booting and was not allowing me to go to the recovery and also fastboot was not flashing anything at all. Even unlock bootloader command was failing.
So, as a last resort, I flashed my NXT - L29 with the factory image of AL10 from DC-Unlocker Phoenix software. Also after that I restored the IMEI and all other stuff.
Problem is that after doing that my phone is not picking up any network. It was showing sim locked initially which I unlocked using the codes generated by DC-Unlocker and the phone now is not showing locked to carrier but still it is not picking up any of the service provider's network. I tried Airtel and Jio (I am in India). Strange thing is that it is not even listing any networks when I go and search for them manually in network options. Not even in 2G or 3G specific modes.
To overcome this issue, I debranded my phone to C636 and C185 as well but the result is the same. No network.
I suspected that somehow the bands got changed from TD LTE to FDD LTE which is causing the issue as in India all 4G rpoviders use only TD LTE right now.
Now my question is that is there any way to get back to the TD LTE and should this effect 2G and 3G coverage as well.
Any help will be hugely appreciated as the phone is right now a brick even if it boots up and functioning fine. :crying::crying:
I don't know much about dc unlocker but do they have l29 factory image to flash?
What about the baseband in about phone is it showing correct and ur imei?

The code in the link does not work on mate 8. May be they have just assumed that it should work and it might be a generic code. I found that link when I was looking for solutions and many more like this but they do not work. The codes mentioned on the most of the tutorials are not working on mate 8. I think USSD codes are partially disabled on our phone.

I believe that the are many guides like this out there, because I already know all of this. Why even bother posting this if I can do all of this more easily with Smart switch?.
And use Odin 3.12 [/QUOTE]
Got the firmware, unzipped it with 7zip. Placed in BL line. Execurtes and after the 12th line it says emmc.appsboot.mbn and then the next line says Fail (Auth)
Ideas?
My device was already soft bricked so I still cannot boot. I can only get to a boot loop or download mode.

For G935V users here a link I made for a stock zip (December update G935VVRU4BQK4) ... unzip file and just follow OP instructions and you will be out of a brick in no time! No need to wait 2 god damn hours for a file that should take no more than 20mins...

Galaxy S7 Verizon phone unlocked

I bought a refurbished phone off ebay with the Verizon logo on it but unlocked version of android without Verizon software and wifi calling. Was phones sold new with the Verizon logo and unlocked version of android? Does the GS7 have wifi calling for Verizon? I can't find the option in the settings. My G6 has wifi calling.
To my best knowledge only the G930U (non carrier) comes from the factory unlocked, if yours is Verizon (G930V) it would have sold new as locked on Verizons firmware, and someone has unlocked it afterwards.
They should have VoLTE and VoWIFI, you just need to make sure your carriers CSC is flashed on the device. If it's refurbished unlocked it's probably on unlocked CSC so won't have any carrier features.
Try getting the latest firmware package for your carrier from sammobile.com or updato.com, and flash ONLY the home_csc via Odin.
All US models are the same SoC, so even if your phone is the Verizon version, you can flash any other carriers firmware.

Thanks. I have another question. Will the unlocked version be better to have and will it get Oreo sooner then the Verizon version?
I haven't flashed a firmware before. have some links bookmarked for doing this to this phone. I guess i would have to reset my phone and reinstall everything.
I would expect the unlocked version to release first since the firmware doesn't have to go through carriers own changes and verification, but that's only a guess.
But since the SoC is the same, you could technically flash the Oreo firmware from whichever phone gets it first, you'd just have to put up with the carriers bloatware.
There's a good flash guide on updato.com for Odin, from memory if you flash all files using home_csc and it's the same version or newer it doesn't wipe. But I've never tried it that way myself.
here's what my about phone screen shows. Would that be stock or flashed by the seller or whomever? It shows my phone its the U version instead out the V version.

Boot into download mode and check, the phone information page will be wrong if the phone is flashed with firmware that's different to its stock.

I finally tried to flash the files and using home_csc but it still says 930U and the software is still the BRC1 not the BRC3 and the settings menu isn't the verizon style. I'm not sure what changed. the flash was successful though.
You might find the stock CSC needs to be flashed for those changes, since it triggers a full wipe. I'm not sure the model would change either way.
So long as you get the functionality you want you should be fine.

It has VOLTE enabled in the settings. is that HD Voice for Verizon?
Yep, from their faq:
"HD Voice is a suite of services enabled by VoLTE (Voice over LTE) technology. VoLTE delivers voice calls over the 4G LTE network instead of the traditional voice network, providing clearer, more natural sounding audio when both parties are using HD Voice-enabled phones that are connected to our 4G LTE network."

I can't remember if the setting was there before. Does all the unlocked versions have that feature? I don't think i had it before because my phone signal is weak and mom says I cut out when i move around.
I believe it's only there if you have the CSC of a carrier that has it enabled, it's not there on mine at all for example. But I have a G930F which is international, different SoC and firmware.

Wait I got confused. I was thinking of wifi calling when i was posting last night. I made a phone call today and it was waiting for a good signal before dialing. Any ideas? I was hoping to use wifi calling since i get a weak signal with this phone. my LG G6 got a stronger signal in the same spot at the computer desk then this GS7. The G6 has wifi calling in the settings but not this phone.

Since I don't have the option myself I can't tell you where the setting should be, but these might help. They're technically different services, so are enabled separately.

Since I'm on the unlocked version I don't have the Verizon style setup menu so I can't find it. I don't see Wifi calling in the settings at all. I do find a Smart Network Switch in the advanced settings for the Wifi. is that the same as Wifi calling?
(fixed S7 typo)

You will need to flash the Verizon version of the stock firmware (SM-G930V) in order to get VoLTE and WiFi calling on Verizon's network. Every carrier is different, and this is usually one of those features that require their own firmware build in order to get it to work. If you have the Unlocked version (SM-G930U) then Wifi call may work on other carrier's networks, but it won't work on Verizon.
I'm currently using a Verizon purchased S7, that I flashed to the Unlocked version SM-G930U. Wifi calling works for me because I'm on T-Mobile's network (with Mint Mobile). If I inserted a Verizon SIM then I wouldn't be able to use their Wifi calling without flashing the firmware back.

Congrats. But FYI, the only reason you were able to do it so easily is because you were flashing a "Stock" firmware, direct from Samsung and signed by them. You can flash any US stock firmware on any other US model of the Galaxy S7 (the Qualcomm version). So it's really hard to mess up. Flashing any of the "custom" roms in the other threads is an entirely different animal, and not something I personally recommend unless you are truly motivated and know what you are looking for. Lots of opportunity for error, and requires workarounds.
The point I'm getting at is you'll likely get the official OTA update around the same time you would find a version that you would flash, because they come from the same source, and are the exact same files.

Greetings Sir. Can I root My SM-G930V?? Baseband G930VVRSBCTC1??

Question Weird firmware version on my S21 plus? Some things not working as expected

Hi all,
So, I have a new Samsung s21 plus that I bought. This phone has not receive any updates and I am still on Android 11 Security patch september 2021. Going to download mode, it seems this is a Verizon set but I also noticed my phone does not have similar codes that other phones have. Was wondering if my download mode codes show anything weird.
I am also not able to use Samsung Smart switch, after connecting my device to my computer, Samsung smart switch auto closes(maybe crash?).
Even though this is a Verizon set, I do not have any Verizon bloatware. I am currently looking to install G996USQS5CVCB_G996UOYN5CVCB_VZW which I downloaded from Sammobile, will this introduce bloatware to my phone? Since I am not installing G996U1 firmware, this should not need my data to be wiped right?
Any advice would be much appreciated

CVCB... but I see that the update is now pushed, at first when you posted the comment, I wasn't seeing notice for updates being pushed from VZW. It is the correct version, it was just a delay of information form my end.
Not sure what may cause your issue(s), you can try getting help from samsung by reporting each issue using samsung members app > get help >error report after reproducing or seeing the issue again.

the bloatwares come when you install the USERDATA segment of the software, but I may be wrong. I do know that you can install carrier apps during the setup process, it asks if you want to download the sponsored apps and such... I just can't remember if it comes in the USERDATA or not. You should be able to reach out to vzw and ask for the carrier apps :/ if it's not in the playstore then they'd be happy to share their bloatwares
other than that your device... I think it should say Service Provide Software version : .....OYN_VZW_....
where you running unlocked before?

Haha thanks for the info. I don't want their bloatware but I'm not sure which firmware to flash as I don't want to lose my data and I don't want to accidentally put bloatware on my phone. Any ideas?
first I would check why you have the XAA as the provider software, XAA indicates it was a unlocked device... or had been unlocked by carrier, if it was always with VZW then the last bit of the provider software version should read something like VZW/VZW, VZW/VZW or something similar.
if it has XAA as part of it, then it means it's initially or was running unlocked software version.
such case, yo may need to download the unlocked software version, not the carrier version. I'm just confused because your model number seems to read as carrier locked device... is the Model Number in About Phone showing as G996U or U1?
Also, if you were initially referring to the carrier apps like visual voice mail and other carrier supported feature/apps then unlocked won't be able to get them. only devices that started carrier locked will get it if I'm not mistaking.
I'm assuming at the moment that your device was unlocked and you installed VZW's software hence you didn't get the correct push for the update and still stuck in UI3.1 (just a guess...)

Yeahh. It's weird. I got this phone cheaper than usual and the guy that sold me doesn't seem to know either. That's why I'm kinda confused which version to flash. My model number is G996U and in download mode it says VZW but the phone is unlocked and I don't have any bloatware. So, should I just flash g996u1 software and hope it doesn't reset my phone?

I would try confirming with VZW to see if the device was initially carrier locked and later unlocked. and ask VZW what the best way to go about is.
My guess,... if it's showing 996U as the model number, then just be safe and go with the carrier's version of the software.
BUT as for the carrier apps and other bloatwares, don't expect to get them since the device seems to have been unlocked. unless verizon shares the User data packet with you, you won't get it.
