Language and batteries issues - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey folks, I have got the xperia z3 dual 6653.
My father has the sony xperia z2 for 3 and a half years now and he was so impressed with it. I had the LG g3 for about a year and a half. I really hated it, I had to charge it all the time, it got super laggy after a while and the camera suffered too.
The only probelm I am having with the xperia are as follow:
In contrast to my LG g3 I don't need to charge the phone during the day, for two weeks now. The battery seems to last me all day long with avarage of 4-5 hours of SOT. My usage is a lot of youtube, forums, emails, phone calls, Wi-Fi with my gopro, and camera. Brightness on adaptive and on the first 1/4 to the left. No sync, no 4g/lte, regular 3g and my home WiFi.
When I got my phone I immediately updated to android M 6.0.1. And switched the language from Hebrew to English.
I was only interested in Hebrew keyboard, but couldn't find it in the Xperia keyboard writing languages.
Sony support in my country suggested to repair the software via the comapnian through usb cable, I did it, it took forever and I needed the phone so I disconnected in the middle, few hours later I managed to complete the repair and it said successfully repaired, I installed everything from start, but couldn't find the Hebrew keyboard. The store that I got it from says that the dual z3 don't have hebrew for 6.0.1 M. Can some one confirm it? My dad, who updated to android M 6.0.1 indeed have Hebrew.
Another thing, I am very concerned that all of the repairs, plugs to usb and disconnecting ruined my battery a bit, or the battery performance. I only get between 4-5 hours SOT. But I read here that people get 8-9 SOT.
Can someone please help me with some information? I really like the phpne, just a bit concerned.
Thanks for reading this. Cheers!

Battery life and self powering on.

[Grrr lost message because of board login timeout]
Hi all,
I wonder if anyone else has had similar problems with their Rafael or has any suggestions...
I first got my Rafael (a stock O2 (UK) XDA Serra) back in February. At that time the battery was lasting about a day and a half between charges which was comparable with my previous Artemis (XDA Orbit). This is with my normal use.
About 6 weeks later the phone was needing recharged after about 5 hours of my normal use. The location I was using the phone hadn't changed, so this can't be put down to signal strength meaning the phone is using more power to compensate. My usage hadn't changed either, and I had not instaled any software that ran up the GPS in the background or anything that woudl cause extra drain.
One thing I did notice before I sent the phone back to O2 for repair was that occasionally I would take the phone from my pocket and the screen would be on, an app would have launched (like SMS or email or something) and the text entry area would be full of a repeated character. So the phone had obviously woken up from standby in my pocket.
The phone (and bettery) went back for repair and came back with a note saying that the fault had been found and repaired - unfortunately it didn't say what the fault was that had been found.
For a few weeks the phone seemed a bit better, but now about 3 weeks later it's doing it again.
Yesterday the phone was left in standby and not used at all. From full charge and just taken off the charger, the battery was dead within about 5 hours!
The waking up issue is a bit more than just inadvertantly touching the power button. I now have the phone in the supplied case/cover the other way around which protects the power button more meaning that I can't switch it on by accident. But sometimes I take the phone out and its on as before.
Even more odd is that sometimes if I pick the phone up of my desk by the sides (ie fingers nowhere near the power button) it switches on. And if I have used the phone and switch it back to standby and go to put the phone down, sometimes it wakes up again before I have managed to put it down...
A soft reset seesm to cure the waking up problem for a while, but after a few hours it seems to come back.
Obviously the phone waking up will cause extra battery drain, and that would mean the two are related or even the same problem. But does anyone have any idea what it could be and why a soft reset seems to sort the problem? Has anyone else seen this problem?
Obvisouly a battery life of just a few hours means this is not such a mobile device anymore!
Cheers,
FM
Update:
I sent the phone back for repair (to O2 UK) and they apparently found and fixed the fault.
When the phone came back it still seemed to have the same problem, but I tried it for about 6 weeks until I was absolutely convinced - it did!
So, back to o2 again, this time it was returned 'No Fault Found' - having done nothing to the phone.
So once again it was sent back, this time I was demanding a replacement handset as they were obviously unable to fix the fault.
A replacement handset turned up a week later. Note that this was not a new handset, but a refurb from the repair centre and it already had about 9 hours of calls on it and a dirty screen!
After putting all my apps and things back on the phone one at a time just in case it was a particular app causing the power on problem and the battery drain, the phone seemed absolutely fine - no switching itself on and battery life of a few days (estimated over two days). This was without the SIM card in though.
After 4 days when all my apps and things were back on I finally inserted the SIM and made my first call on the new handset...
...arrrggghhh....
This handset had a faulty speaker (earpiece, not handsfree loudspeaker)... sounding like a badly tuned analogue radio. Calls to a few numbers confirmed the handset at fault (the cracking started as soon as the speaker activated before the ringing tone started).
So after another heated call with o2 I eventually learned that they are no longer supplying the Serra (Raphael) and that my only option is repair again.
Oh no. Not going to happen. At this point I am 4 or 5 months into a new contract for which I paid for an upgrade to the Serra and have not yet had a new working handset. So I demand a replacement.
As they are no longer supplying the Serra, I have had to make do with an SE Xperia X1 (HTC made anyway, and just rebadged by Sony Ericsson), but in my opinion an inferior phone despite the widescreen.
The X1 has no accelerometer, no TV out, won't run Ton Tom Navigator 5 (of which I have a legit paid for copy), has a few supplied apps missing compared with the Raphael (RSS Hub, WorldCard Mobile - although they are available elsewhere incl links from these forums), and inferior remote control on the headphones (though better headphones, it must be said), and only a 3 row keyboard.
The loss of TF3D is no problem as I never used it anyway - I don't use the X1's 'Panels' either.
The X1 does seems to 'stick' a bit more often than the Serra did as well, but I'm managing to live with it so far - especially as I now have a battery which isn;t dead by 2pm each day!

P.S. O2 UK customer services were apalling. It was only after 3 months of grief that one day I eventually got to speak to decent people who genuinly seemed to want to help. One bloke (a supervisor!) I spoke to (called Nathan) was the most utterly rude and unhelpful tosspot I've had to deal with in a long time. Not only was he accusing me of 'trying it on' but he refused to even entertain the thought that I had received less than satisfactory service from O2. His superiors wil be receiving a letter very soon, when I eventually get this completely sorted - which it isn't quite yet.

[Q] Experts, what's the phone for me?

Hello everyone,
I would like some advice from you guys as I think you know what you're talking about (and I don't in this area )
Situation:
* not an IT'er, hence not informed about these things
* Current phone = Nokia E51
* Has a long battery life and hence very reliable
* I have a long commute to work every day
Lots of time (waiting) on the train
Would like a phone to mitigate the boredom
Expectations for a new cell phone:
* Battery life of minimally 24 hours
I want to be able to take it off the power grid at 7am on a friday only to have to plug it back in again around 7am on saturday with quite some power (20-25%-ish) to spare
* After having done the following:
some texting and a few minutes of calls throughout the day and evening
browsing/using youtube/watching some movies or listening to music for +-2hours
being able to go out with it at night and google some random stuff (i.e. checking which movies they're playing etc.)
without having to worry in any degree whatsoever that I'll be left with a dead phone in case something unexpected happens during the night (car breakdowns or other accidents, hospital visits, friends or family who urgently need to contact me, etc.)
* Other points of interest:
Budget doesn't matter too much, can be cheap and can be expensive
Screen needs to be fit for reading on the internet/some pdf's etc
No physical keyboard
I do not care about the camera functions
Already took a look at:
* Windowsphone / blackberry (Not my cup of tea)
* HTC (Have only heard bad things about this, and all the people I know who had one got rid of it)
* Iphone (Itunes annoys me, and so do the apple people who freak out about their cell phones)
* Samsung Galaxy S2
Was blown away when I saw this phone
Went to order it yesterday after having read unanimously positive reviews (techradar and such)
Then read about the battery life span which renders it useless to me (had no idea that people can live with that kind of thing in this day and age)
Cancelled it about 2 hours ago and got my money back, thankfully.
* Nokia 5800
link to phone
My brother has this and is happy about it
I can't imagine there's nothing better on the market than a 3 year old phone
So long story short:
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you guys might have for a phone that would suit me. Perhaps I'm too demanding for current technology?
Thanks guys.
When I got the Galaxy S the Battery life was maybe 8 hours. After rooting the phone deleting all the bloatware and installing a custom rom, Well.......... 30 hours +/-.
The point is battery life is soley contingent on how you set up the phone and what you do with it. Frankly, out of the box, Samsung sets the phone up poorly. That is how forums like these got started, They saw great hardware and sucky software.
Now, The S2 is awesome hardware, and the development on it is just beginning. I would recommend you read the S2 forum general and development sections. You are going to find that people have addressed the battery problem.
My Galaxy-S Phone I bought 2 batteries so I would never have to worry about battery...... now, I do not know where the spares are it has been so long since I have needed them.
I would be using the S2 if it was available here in the USA NOW. But we still have to wait 45 days more.
Read up on that forum here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1055
Right Now the best phone out there is the S2
Stick with the Android Format it is way more flexible Win-7 is decent but not enough support, and win7 and Iphone do not make it easy to modify the phone.
Other than the email syncing advantage on the Blackberry it offers nothing else. Android long term is the way to go.
Hope that helps
Yes I followed that forum for a while, which is what made me cancel my order for the S2.
People are getting horrible battery life out of it that is nowhere near the 24hour minimum range I'm requiring, and I doubt they'll be adding 50% to the battery life it currently has.
On a different forum where I posted the same question, one advice that has come in by now is this:
Motorola Defy with Cyanogenmod that puts the latest android OS on it.
I'd like to have a few options though so suggestions are still more than welcome.
I would still go for the GS2 despite the battery issues it will be a great phone

There is no "despite" the battery issue I'm not buying a phone to babysit it.

Sony Ericsson Live View

Hi all, bought this one yesterday, updated it, connected to phone and it works like charm.
In 12h of using it id didn't drain battery much more then without bt (perhaps 5-7% more.
I can recommend this cool device to all SGS users.
What does it do more exactly? did some googling and it seems awesome but what can you use it for more specificly?
i got liek 3 months ago and i stoped using it.
it disconnects very often and i doesn't have an exchange widget.
for me it's almost useless for the moment.

LG Shine Plus (C710h) post update troubles

Hi all,
I just recently updated my LG Shine Plus from Telus (LG-C710h) to Android 2.3 and my battery life has dropped significantly. Where it used to last more than 12 hours, it now only lasts less than 6 without use. Using Juice Defender has not made a significant improvement.
Is there are way to go back to 2.1 with this phone? (I've played with other ROMs with my old Xperia X10)
Thanks!
Statik
I've done this update on my moms phone and she had some battery problems, jsut pull the battery and replace it, that helped fix hers
I actually had Telus replace the battery and that didn't help it. I looked at Juice Defender some more and it mentioned autokiller (I had been using Advanced Task Killer). I installed autokiller and killed some processes and suddenly the power drain leveled right off and the phone started sleeping again. The battery usage went from a 45 degree decline to almost straight when it wasn't being used. I'm not sure which thing I killed that was doing it, but the phone seems to be running 100% better.
A side symptom which also has disappeared was that SMS messages weren't being received until an SMS was sent out and then all the SMS's would show up. Now, the texts are received withing seconds.
Thanks!
Statik
Thats good it's working better for you, hopefully you get the SMS worked out
Thats just it, the SMS problem is worked out. The autokiller fixed both problems.
Sent from my SGH-T989D using XDA App
Update troubles
Hey everyone, I know it's been a while and my chances of getting a reply are pretty slim, but I have a friend with an LG Shine Plus C710h and she's trying to update her phone from 1.6 ...as someone who frequently updates and has experimented with various ROMs on my previous SE X10 I was astonished that someone hadn't updated their phone from 1.6! unheard of, I know!
And so being the helpful friend that I am I offered to do some searching around for her, but found nothing. Not even the PDF manual I found online gave me the answer I was looking for. So I thought I would try you guys.
tl;dr -- the problem is that the phone will not connect / sync to PC suite. She's looked all through the settings and can't find any way to change it, and with all my internet searching, neither can I (we're not together at the moment, she just called me and asked for help)
Can anyone who owns this phone or has owned it previously give us a hand here?

XPERIA XA battery unable to charge while in use

Hello all,
I've recently bought an Xperia XA and have been satisfied with the device itself, i know its a new phone and we could await some updates, but what i encountered last night made me create an account here and ask.
I was low on battery, basically 1% and attached it to the charger i received with the phone itself, thus the phone goes into normal mode no battery saving or stamina, nothing and no third party apps installed for it. I started browsing Instagram, through google chrome, and even though the phone was charging it couldn't get up even 1% for the time I was on it, basically 30mins almost.
Now, your thoughts, I see on the forums the battery drains fast, cannot basically use it without stamina mode, but do you think that this is 'normal' or should I go back and ask for a different device?
Do you think the updates to the system itself will solve the problems in the future? I was on an Xperia M2 before and was really satisfied, battery lasted whole day no stamina mode, no problem. And from the specifications I read its supposed to have a good battery(XA).
Thank you,
Friction

Not sure about the charging but one thing I never do is use a device whilst charging, there is a known wifi bug that doesn't let the device reach deap sleep on the original firmware are you on the latest firmware version as the wifi bug is fixed and there's a new kernel aswell apparently I also recommend either a factory reset or software repair once latest firmware is available. How is it compared to the m2 as I'm making the same upgrade next week all being well and I'm following everything closely it's a stunning looking device only had a few brief goes with one don't know whether to get black/charcoal one or lime gold one

The current build number is 33.2.A.2.35 and I did do a factory reset since the update but didn't help much. For eg I've taken it off the charger this morning @ 6.00 and haven't been using it much, a couple of viber messages and pictures taken, one short call (under 1 min) basically its on my desk while I'm at work, only chatting with my gf a bit. And it dropped right now to 40% . And it is in Stamina mode, with optimization disabled for viber and whatsapp.
*edit call quality way better than m2 forgot that*
Now compared to the M2, hands down like going from a zastava car(serbian) to a benz i'd say, works flawlessly, the camera both front and back is better than expected, zoom is nice, design and aluminium body are perfect with slight screen curvature. It says mid range but certainly doesn't feel like it. Only issue beside the battery is finding accessories for it, screen protection or casing, at least in Serbia, as it is brand new, most people in shops haven't even heard of it.

Only cases I've seen myself are genuine Sony ones, a shell type and the leather flap type screenprotectors try mediadevil the best non tempered glass ones I've found been using them on my M2 for a while
