Sony Ericsson Live View - Galaxy S I9000 Accessories

Hi all, bought this one yesterday, updated it, connected to phone and it works like charm.
In 12h of using it id didn't drain battery much more then without bt (perhaps 5-7% more.
I can recommend this cool device to all SGS users.

What does it do more exactly? did some googling and it seems awesome but what can you use it for more specificly?

i got liek 3 months ago and i stoped using it.
it disconnects very often and i doesn't have an exchange widget.
for me it's almost useless for the moment.

[Q] SE LiveView Micro Display

Has anyone tried this device with the Desire?
They're only £50 at most places now. Thought it might be fun to play with, but there are some horrible reviews about it loosing connections and not re-establishing. Someone said that it has to sync with your handset just to display the correct time?
Wondering if anyone has any experiences to share?
Have seen a couple of reviews, none of the reviewers seemed very impressed. In one review (coolsmartphone.com I think), the unit kept randomly disconnecting from the desire used. Was interested myself until I saw how temperamental it was.

Electricpig seemed quite impressed too, but I dont think they tried it with a desire. I like the idea, but the battery life on the desire isn't great as it is, having bluetooth on all the time would kill it i think. And on the liveView I've read battery life is as short as 12 hours...
Think I might have to give it a miss too.
BIG problems..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830734
I have one. Not good with Desire..
well, sometimes it works good, sometimes it doesnt ... the main problem is a connection problem. sometimes it tries to connect every time you press a button on the liveview.
sonyericsson is on its way to publish an update this month ... lets see if it helps
Update out now! Firmware and Market update!
How to update:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/liveviewupdate
More info:
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/developerwor...-micro-display/
Don't forget to update the app in the phone using Market.
Stable for me.. just need to wait and see.
Got one on order, thought it was worth a punt, will report on the reliability of it once I receive it.

I got one a couple days ago. Its working great with the update. Only issue I've run into is I'm using cm7 and each time the display reconnects to my desire I have to approve the pairing on the phone. I wish there was a way to allow it to auto-pair when in range. Such a pain to have to acknowledge connection on the phone each time!! (just to be clear this happens when I get out of range from my phone, then walk back into range)
How are people finding the battery life?
The reconnect issue must be very annoying!
battery life is fairly decent. about 4+ hours. after the update from Sony and finally moving to CM7 build 13, it's been fantastic.
i only using the watch when driving around on the motorbike, for short periods of time. but, it's a world of difference from pre-update and pre-gingerbread.
remember, the LiveView is really just a fun little toy. don't rely on it for much more than that.
oh also, the plugins are working much more reliably than pre-update.
hello, I've got mine for couple of days. The LV shutdown after only three hours, it is for me not enough!

can you describe these 3 hours? what was your activity level and what apps are you running on the phone/watch?
in this 3 hours i only use the media player controler 45 min. and received one or two mail and sms.
I tried also to uninstall all the plugins,it only increase life time for 30 min.
Mine works fine since I read the threads on this forum regarding which processes to put in my ignore list. In fact, to test initially I disabled My Task Killer and it stayed connected for 2 days, I then ignored the correct processes, including goign into low security mode and ignoring everything to do with liveview. Since then it works great.
Mine lasts a couple of days with normal use. I use it as a remote for winamp at work for about an hour a day and read notifications every 30 mins or so.
An hour of charging every other day does it for me.
There is of course several things that I would like to see improved but it does what is advertised. The access to plugins I feel is way to cumbersome for one thing.
I had several problems with connections in the beginning, some even needed a unpair and the LiveView to be switched of for a day or so. The problem seemed to be that on connecting it tried to connect as my car stereo! After removing all other paired bluetooth devices the connection has been much more stable, though not perfect. The question is how it will behave if I start pairing these other devices again.
Now I loose the connection a couple of times each day but atleast reconnect is painless most of the times with just a few seconds wait.
Because of all the bad reviews and reports I bought mine used and cheap, so for the price I payed there is nothing to complain about.
Apart from being a nice gadget it really is a conversation piece, most people are very interested, and terms me gadget crazy =)
Planning on getting one as well, £42 on pixmania.
But was wondering are there any alternates to this for an android device. Or any other cool pocket devices that connect to the phone
There's a Sony watch that dies some similar things, but it us rather bulky and I am personally nit a fan of the aesthetics. I'd love to see this device get revisions to be thinner, more responsive, clearer and faster. I purchased mine in the hope that it would get these updates in the future. Have to support it now if I want it to be better later.

In your opinion do you think i should buy the Live view or wait a little longer and see if anyone's launching similar products.. (have not seen any news of any other manufacturer making one though )
I would wait..

Are you happy with LG G2X

I've read post from people that seem to be very anal about there phones and nit pick at every little thing, I sold my thunderbolt and love this fine piece of technology despite some issues like light leakage. I personally still like the phonea lot. Its not to big and not to small, Nvidia hardware a company that is actually using the dualcore processors in its gaming applications through Tegra Zone. If the G2x is good enough for steve aka cyanogen its great for me. Not having to deal with Sense and HTC is even better, I don't even want to bother with Samsung phones and updates LOL.

The software was rushed out the door, but if you remove My Account and WiFi Calling it stabilizes pretty well. I like mine, my wife likes hers (and she's an iPhone fangirl)
Do agree it was rushed out the door but overall worth it . This is, my first non-htc android phone. Previous ones (g1, mytouch slide, g2(wifes)), all were rooted the first week I had em., well still have them to.

Hell yea, I love this phone... It is the most amazing phone I have ever used... And I have used plenty of android phones... I had HD2 (CM7 Nightly), Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S 4g, HTC shift and now G2X.... Somehow I never liked Atrix, and I do not know why. When I held that phone in my hand I did not feel like I am holding a cutting edge technology in my hand....
As for the G2X, best thing about this phone is, it comes with stock android(close enough)... You are free to do whatever you feel like doing with it. It is going to have amazing dev support, IMO it already has.
I do not have much LCD issues now with my phone luckily. (But that after replacing my phone.) I do not use WIFI at all, coz at my place tmob 4G is faster than my wifi.
I do not have random rebooting issue, one reason for that not happening may be that I let my device reboot after 2-3 days just to get my battery cycle. My GPS works fine. Bluetooth works fine though one time I had issue of my phone forgetting profile for my laptop.
I have laucher pro, go launcher ex, adw launcher installed. I have set them up differently according to the days and time... I keep changing them and still my phone never got hung, never rebooted itself, and never slowed down.... There is enough ram and storage for my use... I have almost 150 apps installed..
I have 8-10 hours of battery life after calibrating it with battery calibrator.. My usage is normal.. I keep background sync on for gmail, facebook, twitter, weather and pulse news. I watch 2-2.5 hours of podcast and youtube.. for 45mins - 1 hour I surf web, xda app and market...
In all I love this phone, it runs very very fast and smooth, and for the first time I am able to use all the apps to their full potential. Like in all the launchers, I can now set any animations I like without worrying about phone freezing or slowing down on me....
I love the phone when it is working right, but the battery use is horrendous. It is worse then my 2.5 year old G1 and it's battery was on it's last leg. I have done the factory reset and it seemed to work for a day and then slowly got worse again since last friday.
I'm using the phone about a 1/3rd of what I would with my g1 (out of fear of draining the battery) and the battery burns through quicker then the old phone. Yesterday I watched a 1 minute you tube video, sent 3 texts, opened a few emails, and played 3 turns on wordfued (total of about 1 minute, 1 move each on 3 games). The rest of the time all I got to do was use to monitor the battery, woo hoo, what fun.
I am also getting lots of reboots now (probably 20 total in a week and a half), and a few freezes. This morning the pinch zoom seems to be out of calibration too.
Tmobile is sending me a new phone and I hope it fixes it. My wife's seems to be working fine.
When it is working probably it is awesome, I'm fairly sure it can move around in google maps quicker than my computer!

every tmobile device that had android i had it. i also had the nexus s since release. i was ready to give up on this device but now since cm7 im liking it even more than i expected. stock isnt always so good....for the nexus it was but stock on the g2x had issues with battery life, signal, reboots etc. this is my 3rd device and i have very minimal bleeding and its great from what i use to have. im just looking forward to more roms preferrably one or two sense ones, and ill be a happy camper.
I am very happy with my G2x. There are some minor issues that I have experienced, but nothing that is going to make me want to get rid of the device. This is my 4th attempt at using an Android Phone. I had the T-Mobile MyTouch 4g when it was first released, but I was not a fan.
Then go forward to when the Samsung Galaxy S 4G was released, I got that phone. I returned it after 14 days, and then went and bought the Nexus S. I loved the Nexus S, but it was not the phone for me and I knew it. I had been waiting for the G2x, and since it was released right before my 30 day window was up, I exchanged my Nexus S for it.
I LOVE IT! It is one of the best phones I have ever used. It might not have the best battery life in the world, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that the phone itself has a lot of features, and a dual-core processor. I think I will be buying a spare battery, which I do not mind doing as long as the phone works well.
Yes I am happy with this phone. All new phones have bugs. I remember my last phone the Samsung Epic having a cap on the data speed as well as other minor bugs. I have yet to experience a random reboot on this phone.
My phone is:
Rooted
Bloatware removed
ADW Settings used to customize my pages
Juice Defender on Extreme setting
Advance Task Killer used each time before turning off my screen
Switchpro used to put custom widgets on top of my home page.
Wintec 16gb MicroSD class 10
My battery drops 1% in 6 hours from the time I sleep and wake up.
My battery drops about 20-30% in 12 hours of light to moderate use during the day.
I got mine this past Sunday and I love it. No reboots, LCD not a problem. My main issue is that I get zero service (the x) inside my building at work. I would think I would at least get 1 bar since I'm in a "very good" 4G area. When I wake the phone, I have 2 bars, but it goes to zero in about 5 seconds. When I take about 10 steps out of my building, I get 4 bars. I can use wifi-calling while at work, but still haven't decided if I want to keep it. I'm thinking of dealing with it for a month and if necessary, swapping it for the Sensation. But if the reception was better, I would definitely keep it. I much prefer vanilla Android over HTC sense. My wife has no issues whatsoever with hers. Both of ours have a 4/05 date bought at Costco in Overland Park, KS.
I am glad you guys like it, as I am waiting for mine to arrive in these two days.
Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones. I never had a reboot or problems with bleeding. Hardware wise it is perfect for me. Yes, sometimes I get annoyed when I rub my pinky against the usb port, but its all good. Coming from the vibrant I do miss certain features of touchwiz. Especially the smart dialer and contacts app. This stock froyo one is brutal. I feel like i'm ranting now. Well to sum it up, heres what I like and what I don't:
Pros:
1. Cyanogen Support (A nightly already?!)
2. It's only been out for 2 weeks, the xda community is booming
3. Sexy build quality
4. IPS screen...sometimes it feels like an iPhone...is it just me?
5. Speed
6. Vanilla!
7. FFC cough for the girlfriend cough
Cons
1. Screen Accuracy
2. Battery could have been bigger** (maybe a arc reactor would have been nice)
Thats it :O
**Thats what she said.
I loved my phone at first until other issues started to arise... I got it the day before it hit stores... now when unlocking my phone it pauses on a black screen shows me my screen then brings me to the unlock screen... A PAIN and time consuming! My battery is flakey sometimes REALLY good and sometimes sooooooo awful its unthinkable! Today, I called to finally get a replacement... time to unroot and return!
***lmao at that's what she said!***

I really like the device a great deal. However, I am on my third. Calling issues have plagued my previous two. I think it MAY have been an application, or some incompatibility between something(s) I installed. However, this latest one, with most of the same applications does not exhibit the issue.
It is fast, stable, has stock Android, and none of HTC Sense in the way...however, none of Sense's benefits either.

Do You Like Your Sony Live View?

I currently have a MBW-150 with Openwatch and am considering upgrading to the Live View.
If you have a Live View, can you share whether you like it?
I love it. However, I bought it right after buying a SE phone. As I read quite everywhere on internet, liveview uses to fail if linked to non-SE phones.
Hence, before wasting 50 Euros for a gadget, I waited for my "monkey" leading me to a SE phone (specifically xperia arc)
i actually love it too im using it on my x10 and it works a lot better after the firmware upgrade (doesn't randomly disconnect as much)
Just placed an order for one on Amazon.
To follow up on my purchase:
I initially had nothing but issues with it when using it with my ATT HTC Aria, it would disconnect constantly and was a real pain in the arse to get reconnected I was very frustrated and was planning on attempting to return the Live View for a refund. But, about a week after, I switched to Verizon and a brand new Samsung Droid Charge phone, and the Live View is working much better.
The battery life goes a couple of days on my Live Vew, so no problem there.
I found that running just the stock "apps" gives me the best experience with the Live View. I do have the gmail plugin loaded as well.
Caller ID is a little slow... the phone is ringing for a few seconds before anything shows up on the watch, so that is not as useful as it could be as I am usually going for the phone long before anything is displayed.

LG Shine Plus (C710h) post update troubles

Hi all,
I just recently updated my LG Shine Plus from Telus (LG-C710h) to Android 2.3 and my battery life has dropped significantly. Where it used to last more than 12 hours, it now only lasts less than 6 without use. Using Juice Defender has not made a significant improvement.
Is there are way to go back to 2.1 with this phone? (I've played with other ROMs with my old Xperia X10)
Thanks!
Statik
I've done this update on my moms phone and she had some battery problems, jsut pull the battery and replace it, that helped fix hers
I actually had Telus replace the battery and that didn't help it. I looked at Juice Defender some more and it mentioned autokiller (I had been using Advanced Task Killer). I installed autokiller and killed some processes and suddenly the power drain leveled right off and the phone started sleeping again. The battery usage went from a 45 degree decline to almost straight when it wasn't being used. I'm not sure which thing I killed that was doing it, but the phone seems to be running 100% better.
A side symptom which also has disappeared was that SMS messages weren't being received until an SMS was sent out and then all the SMS's would show up. Now, the texts are received withing seconds.
Thanks!
Statik
Thats good it's working better for you, hopefully you get the SMS worked out
Thats just it, the SMS problem is worked out. The autokiller fixed both problems.

Update troubles
Hey everyone, I know it's been a while and my chances of getting a reply are pretty slim, but I have a friend with an LG Shine Plus C710h and she's trying to update her phone from 1.6 ...as someone who frequently updates and has experimented with various ROMs on my previous SE X10 I was astonished that someone hadn't updated their phone from 1.6! unheard of, I know!
And so being the helpful friend that I am I offered to do some searching around for her, but found nothing. Not even the PDF manual I found online gave me the answer I was looking for. So I thought I would try you guys.
tl;dr -- the problem is that the phone will not connect / sync to PC suite. She's looked all through the settings and can't find any way to change it, and with all my internet searching, neither can I (we're not together at the moment, she just called me and asked for help)
Can anyone who owns this phone or has owned it previously give us a hand here?

Language and batteries issues

Hey folks, I have got the xperia z3 dual 6653.
My father has the sony xperia z2 for 3 and a half years now and he was so impressed with it. I had the LG g3 for about a year and a half. I really hated it, I had to charge it all the time, it got super laggy after a while and the camera suffered too.
The only probelm I am having with the xperia are as follow:
In contrast to my LG g3 I don't need to charge the phone during the day, for two weeks now. The battery seems to last me all day long with avarage of 4-5 hours of SOT. My usage is a lot of youtube, forums, emails, phone calls, Wi-Fi with my gopro, and camera. Brightness on adaptive and on the first 1/4 to the left. No sync, no 4g/lte, regular 3g and my home WiFi.
When I got my phone I immediately updated to android M 6.0.1. And switched the language from Hebrew to English.
I was only interested in Hebrew keyboard, but couldn't find it in the Xperia keyboard writing languages.
Sony support in my country suggested to repair the software via the comapnian through usb cable, I did it, it took forever and I needed the phone so I disconnected in the middle, few hours later I managed to complete the repair and it said successfully repaired, I installed everything from start, but couldn't find the Hebrew keyboard. The store that I got it from says that the dual z3 don't have hebrew for 6.0.1 M. Can some one confirm it? My dad, who updated to android M 6.0.1 indeed have Hebrew.
Another thing, I am very concerned that all of the repairs, plugs to usb and disconnecting ruined my battery a bit, or the battery performance. I only get between 4-5 hours SOT. But I read here that people get 8-9 SOT.
Can someone please help me with some information? I really like the phpne, just a bit concerned.
Thanks for reading this. Cheers!
