I just got an S7 to replace my Note 7, and right when I set it up, I got an update (T-mobile). I'm on Android 6.0.1 and have the September 1 security update. After the update, my flashlight no longer works. The bulb is good, because I can use the flash through the camera app, but the toggle is greyed out. I tried installing flashlight apps, but TeslaLED crashes and won't even start, and others don't even recognize the flashlight. Also, I tried "ok google, turn on the flashlight" and it replied that the phone doesn't have one. Is this a common issue?

Just wondering.
Every time i open the camera app, the gps icon blinks on screen.
My gps is disabled.
Is it geotagging?
Any way to turn it off?

Click to collapse
Yes it is geotagging
And I don't believe there is a way to disable it through settings. Surely there is a way if you edit the .apk. But thats above my pay grade
Someone here more than likely has the know how
But there was an option in eclair based roms. Why it has gone?
Use Camera 360 from the market. It is a much better app - even the free version.
In the stock camera from samsung, you choose the gear menu and then the wrench menu and then on the second page of that one there is a check box for geo tag. (other camera apps may vary...)
It's only a problem for 2.2 ROMs where they take away the option to enable/disable Geo Tagging. It is enabled by design.
I just noticed that as well. I wonder why I can't turn it off, its not like the gps on the phone works.
I have the Verizon Pixel 3, and ever since I updated to the November 5 version I have had nothing but trouble with my camera. The native camera app works great, but if I attempt to use any other app on the device that accesses the camera, I get nothing but a black screen. Apps I have on my device that I've tested include
- Messenger
- Snapchat
- Ibotta
- QR Scanner
Once one of the apps attempt to use the camera, the native camera app only gives me a black screen until I restart the device. Once restarted, the native app will work until another app attempts to use the camera, and then it's right back to the black screen.
Has anybody else had this issue yet? I ran across another post where a different user had the same issue, and they had reset their device a couple of times to no resolution.
On latest (nov 5th update) on pixel 3. Camera works fine in Textra for me.... you shouldn't need QR Scanner anymore with the google camera, just hit the lens button, or enable lens all the time in camera settings.
I'm now having this same issue as of a few hours ago. Nothing changed as far as I can tell but any app other than the default camera app trying to access the camera locks the entire thing up.
Flip to Shhh is not working since day 1, updated digital wellbeing, checked all settings, toggled on/off from the interface, rebooted to check, checked in sound option from settings no option of turn on automatically, waited flipping my phone for long time but still not working,
Is this a bug or i am still making a mistake don't know.
Will i have to opt digital wellbeing beta mode for this?
Pixel 2 users please let me know if you are facing the same issue of flip to Shhh not working.
peace.
Santy
Hello mate, new to the pixel 2 myself but tried the flip to shhh and it's working for me, I have it enabled in well-being and in gestures in system settings if that's any help
I love my XZP, especially now that we have Android 10 custom roms. My problem started when I was on pie with eXistenZ. My flashlight stopped working and as a result the camera also. I was able to get it back with a reset but it then failed again after awhile. I tried a 3rd party flashlight app but it still wouldn't work. By this time I was trying the various "10" roms and noticed I had no GPS which is an issue with some of these roms but I also had no compass. In test settings and in compass apps, it shows "no sensor". I reverted back to stock pie and that didn't change anything, even went back to oreo but no help.
I'm guessing it's time to toss it in the bin of broken phones but before I do I thought i'd pick everybody's brains here first. I have the back off and the flashlight led is..well and led and is integrated into the board so I'm just guessing it's toast. I'm not sure where the compass is or what it would look like but guessing it's probably integrated also, as opposed to say the camera or a speaker. So... open to suggestions.
The June ota update on my pixel2 killed the camera. It literally worked perfectly the day before. At first I could open it, disable, update, then open and it would work, randomly, but now it never works. It was 4 weeks over the two year warranty and Google said they could not help me. Told me that IFixUBreak, the auth repair place could fix it.
Tons of negative reviews on play store, but no answers out there. Any idea? Did the factory reset, nothing, installed other camera apps, nothing. The selfie mode is working. On the rare occasion I could get it on it takes perfect pics for about a minute, then the autofocus goes nuts and it starts to go out of focus then turns off.
Root and install an old OS or other?
My original pixel lasted right at two years as well. Feels like design obsolescence...
Go to developer options> quick setting developer tiles> sensors off. Now you will see a tile to turn on and off your sensors. Try that. When the camera sensor is off the camera will not work. So it could be an issue with the sensor
having same issue, i tried sensor off and on but doesnt work.
