Native Huawei covers pretty much everything except Wi-Fi. If you don't have root it's very convenient.

You mean the hisuite? Or the backup/recovery tool built in the phone? My phone is not rooted.
The stock Backup app is also great.

No, it's Huawei Backup. You should have it installed on your phone and available at Google Play.

Try the Huawei Phone Clone app. It uses WiFi direct to transfer apps, media, messages and more from one device to another.

Both of them are good in backup.
I would go with Huawei backup and keep a copy as I always do. That way if something goes wrong I have a copy outside any device I'm fiddling with.
SHAREit also has data cloning capabilities.

Just keep the backup in a safe place in case there's a problem with any of the phones.

Well you're updated.
I don't see anything else you might do.
The common solutions are try another card (formated to extFAT), try the card in another phone and factory reset.
I am on L04 in US and would like to use HiCloud to backup my phone except for the photo gallery. I have been using it for a while with my Huawei ID, but it stopped working in the recent 2 months. It keeps saying there is not enough space on the cloud, which it is not true as I have only used 40MB out of 5GB space. Does anyone know what is the issue? Maybe the service is not for people out of China? But you should be find HiCloud on Settings...

I never had HiCloud on my device. In fact for me the theme store also never worked. It was only when I travelled to India and used an Indian SIM it activated the store.

Yes I have. It looks like all your data is being backed up by google, that means its working already. You just need to login using your google Account to your device at the first boot and select the name of this device and that's it. You will get everything (except the app data)
i use high cloud for backup.
So I have this pré installed app named "Information", it occupies 56 KB.
What is that thing used for? Do I keep it or uninstall it?
(it's not about storage, it's more that seeing something that looks useless is messing my head)

When restoring using HiSuite, it responds with "Failed to restore".
I'm on build 10.0.0.134 of EMUI - could this be the problem? Is that the build that others have had success with?

1. Check your drivers and make sure they're all installed properly
2. Make sure you use the provided cable
3. Need to have a Sim card inside and also logged into huawei account
4. USB debugging needs to be turned on and also the hisuite USB access.
Had the same issue too and doing all the above plus a a reboot or two and it worked fine after that. Firmware versions doesn't effect it.
Hi, plan on this phone as my daily driver so I will probably runs anything on it, including sensitive banking and security apps, I have saw lots not recommending using this method as it opened up some loopholes (i.e. Google SafetyNet failed), any source or research being done that pointed out any insecurity of using such method? (i.e. Prone to information leaking, etc.)
Thank you in advance. Great community!

Hi all,
After installed success, can I unstall LZPlay app?
Is there a way to extract it from the p40 pro? I don’t see much info out there on Huawei's stock sms app. I would like to use it on another Huawei phone that has google services on it.
You could use APK analyzer and then use the export APK command.
Hi,
Give this a try. Just extracted the .apk myself, let me know if it works: https://mega.nz/file/Ic53AQZQ#Nnuo6oHDTzVkFTjfIKQtz_kxUnWaFTtxxL5p7ooFNZQ

You probably can try the Huawei Phone Clone app, but now launch the app in reverse on both of your phones, and select only the SMS app to be copied over.

I had it in the emui 9.1 (mate 20x) but dare not go back after having managed to update to 10.1. I thought I had a backup - will look for it and report back if I find it.
It was theme-able as well (i.e themes actually could work on it)
