replacement s7 came, now service crap zone - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Hey all. I had to order a replacement S7, and this new one is having some service issues. Basically right around where I work, there seems to be an area where the service just sucks. Makes it difficult when I'm working as I need to be connected to their wifi. Anyway, I wasn't having this issue with the other phone.
I thought I remembered from an older phone of mine some file that I could download to mess with where the phone is trying to connect to, to achieve better signal or sync it properly.
Any ideas guys?

Is there a way to run diagnostics test on a failing fuze?

Hey guys a few days ago I dropped my phone. Nothing broke, the screen didn't crack. Nothing got loose.
After I turned it on there was no more 3G (prior to the drop I always had 3G coverage), My signal dropped to two bars and alot of times it showed as roaming.
I think something inside got messed up, I opened the phone but everything seems fine.
Is there anyway to find out what is wrong? Maybe a diognostics test like cars have that tells me what is failing?
I have done a hard reset, and even reflashed my phone. Nothing seems to work.
If someone can help me out to fix my problem successfully I would give you 40.00 dollars. I really need this phone fixed and cannot afford another one. I use it for work cause its GPS since I travel alot.

Antenna Issue : No Network Access

Ok so this has happened every night I have had the Captivate (3 nights), I go to bed at night and in the morning where my signal bar should be I have a circle with a slash through it (no network). When I go to bed I will have like 2-4 bars of service but something must happen and I lose all network functionality. I have to restart the phone which solves the problem but is a serious pain. This also happens sometimes randomly throughout the day.
Any ideas if this is a common problem with all Captivates or if it is a hardware or software issue?
I like this phone and if I can get it to work properly I love it more than my iphone but not getting service is a buzz kill and I will return it. (Bought it unsubsidized for $500 because I couldn't deal with my iphone anymore)
Note: I live in Tampa which generally has good AT&T service and have had no other problems with other phones
Did you turn off the phone and remove the sim card for a few minutes?? According to an at&t rep doing that solves network issues.
The problem I had today was that the phone showed full bars, but I couldn't send a text or make calls. I took the reps advice and it's fine for now.
Well I will give that a try tonight and see how it goes and post back tomorrow with my results. I really love everything. Else about this phone and would be a shame of I had to get rid of it because of silly antenna issues. Thanks for the advice!

Are you sure you don't have any power saving apps on that are turning off the radio after a few hours? Did it happen when it was stock with no programs installed? Might try and flash it back to stock and see if that solves the problem.
Otherwise you could always walk into an AT&T store and ask for another one and see if it still happens.
Well last night it did the same thing after removing the sim for about 10 minutes before bed.
And as far as knowing if it did this before I rooted it.....well...I owned the phone for maybe 10 minutes after unboxing it before I rooted it. So I have no idea if it is because it is rooted. I don't have any apps on it for power saving purposes and nothing should be killing the radio. Problem is that it isn't like airport mode is on...its completely out of service and the only way to get service back is to reboot. Turning the radios on and then off again while the phone is on won't work...it must be a reboot.
I will probably end up returning it and trying one more Captivate before I look else where for a new phone. But after seeing this screen it would be hard to look at any other phone twice.
iphone4 would be a good screen alternative
ur antenna issue is unique and a new phone will probably fix it. id get that sim replaced too.
The new iPhone would be ok...but I can't go back to an iPhone. I have had 4 of them (2 first gens) and I am so bored of them. And I know people rave about the iPhones new screen but side by side with this phone I would take the extra screen real estate anyway.
And I did consider getting a new sim card too. I think I will wait until towards the end of my 30 day return policy and trade in for a new one.
Thanks for all the help guys

I've had mine since July 18th and had never have this happen...till this morning. When I pulled it off charger I noticed the signal meter what a circle with a slash. Well, I dont get great reception in my apartment so it didnt phase me until I was on my way to work and still didnt have a signal. So, I turned it off and back on and then it had a signal. So I dont know what was up with that. I'll keep an eye on it tomorrow to see if its something thats going to happen regularly.
Hmmm...so I'm not the only one having this problem. Yeah I don't get superb service in my apartment but I have also never really had any other network problems with other phones.
Wonder if there is something that kills the network if you don't have a decent signal for a certain period of time. I just wish it wasn't everyday. On the brightside nobody will wake me up with emails or texts or calls.

[Q] HTC G1 unlocked no reception

I got a used G1 almost a year ago, unlocked it so I could use it with AT&T and it had been working without any trouble until this past Sunday. I was running 1.6 for the longest time and never got around rooting it or installing mods. Suddenly, after I was on the phone for 2 hours, the G1 stopped receiving service. It was normal for the phone to drop service for a moment because of where I live, but after a couple seconds I usually get service again. I didn't.
I swapped out my SIM to an older phone and I was able to get service. So I figure it probably isn't a SIM card problem.
So I put the SIM back into the G1, browsed through the phone to see what was wrong and suddenly found that I had an "update all" button for the market. That's a feature only in 2.2, not in 1.6. I checked online to see if there were any updates to 1.6, but didn't find anything. I had no service, but a feature not in 1.6 on my phone.
After several hours of having no service, I decided to root my phone and install Cyanogen Mod 6. I thought maybe updating the phone might fix the problem. Hours later, I got CM6 up and running and used my brother's SIM to activate my Google account. It just so happened that when I was activating the phone, I had a small window of reception. After that, no service.
Monday I went to the AT&T store to see if they could help and my phone suddenly worked inside the store. I left it there for 15-30 minutes and service didn't drop, so I thought it was fixed. I left and just as I got home, my phone stopped working. So I drove back to the AT&T store to get a new SIM. Sad part is, my phone has service in the store. Again. I just don't get service anywhere else.
I got the new SIM, but I still didn't get service. My brother suggested that the antenna cable might be loose. So yesterday I went to pick up a screwdriver set that had the right size torx bits so I could open up the phone. The cables looked fine, but I pulled them out and plugged them back in. That didn't fix the problem. I still didn't have service.
Late last night, at the CS club at school, a guy with a G1 on T-Mobile put his SIM into my phone to see if it would work. After 5 minutes, my phone was able to connect. So I swapped my SIM back in, but no service. My G1 can see the networks. Right now, I can see AT&T under "Available Networks", but every time I try to connect, it says, "Unable to connect to this network at this time. Please try again later."
I'm using a spare phone right now, but I'd really love to have my G1 working again. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Same Problem
If it makes you feel any better.. 7 months later and I have the same issue. Been scouring the internet and XDA for hours without any resolution. Maybe AT&T is dumping IMEI #'s for devices not in their lineup? Older AT&T Sims seem to work though which is strange. Maybe this bump will get us some kind of response.

Dropped phone no longer connects to cell network; Wifi still works

Hey guys. I've been banging my head on the desk for a few weeks now and have now given up on self-help.
I drunkenly dropped my phone and even though it had one of those soft rubber fishbone cases, the screen cracked. It worked just fine until the next day or so until the phone stopped connecting to the cell network 90% of the time. For the first week after the connection issues, it would connect to only LTE but for about 5 minutes, then have a period of 30 minutes to an hour of no connectivity. During the LTE on-time, I couldn't send/receive text messages or make calls. I was confused, but figured it was because I live in an area with poor reception. Gradually over the last week, the phone's ability to connect to anything at all except Wifi has turned to absolutely null.
I just took the phone apart completely, checking all antennas and contact points but nothing was helping. I just ordered a new antenna from eBay to see if a transplant with an OEM part will help. We'll see how that goes when it gets here.
When I powered the phone back on after a complete disassembly/reassembly, it connected to the cell network with only enough time to spare to receive the 48 texts I'd missed since the last connection was established.
My question is, I guess, what do?

maybe getting a new phone from ebay or trying to replace everything(internal parts) till the signal gets back to normal
Your best option is to make sure it isn't just a software problem, I'd go back to stock and see if you can get full connection on a fully stock rom.
Replacing everything on your phone would be a tedious process, you're better off taking it apart and seeing if you have any visual components that are obviously detached, you can compare it to Adam's Deboxing video where he completely disassembles the phone and you can see where everything attaches and what everything is supposed to look like.
If that still isn't working, then i'd call Samsung and see if they'd repair it, might be worth the cost.

Not bad plans of action there. Might end up doing both. I did remember updating to the CM10.2 stable the day before the connection issues, so I reverted back to a random 10.1 nightly. No luck. I'll see if I can dig up a stock ROM from the forum. I know they had one available for the Samsung Fascinate. As for Samsung repairing it, I just hope they don't charge me more than the value of my kidneys. Thanks, bruv!

Simcard isn't detected sometimes

My already 3 years old nexus 5 is working great, except that I have some troubles with my simcard. My phone isn't detacting it sometimes in the middle of the day, without any proper reason and then I have to restart my phone several times to make it work again. I already tried taking out the simcard and putting it back in but it isnt really helping. I also have the problem that my phone isn't really accessing the internet. Even though the 4G symbol is there I don't have a connection, the only thing that helps at these moments is to turn on and off the airplane mode, that way I can access the internet for a quick time, enough to refresh a web page or send some whatsapp messages. I already tried to tape that area where the simcard is placed to make it more stable, without any success.
Does anyone have an idea what to do? I don't really want to buy a new phone since the n5 is working great for me.
Hey,
had exactly the same with my N5. Not sure if it's related to a securtity update or not. I was not able to get it work again. Probably it's getting worse for you with time. There are some threads around xda dealing with this problem, but - at least for me - there no solution yet.
regards
Same problem here since a few weeks.
If you have updated the radio to the last version, and if you have already tried and got the same issue with another sim card, then it may be a motherboard issue.
