It's nothing worth taking note of, it's just a security patch no Android N!
Yes it comes with January security patch > https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/samsung-galaxy-note5-update/
Yes, I don't think we will see that update for a while thanks to Verizon..
Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
So now it's prompting me to install. I don't want to, I want to attempt root if that guy gets back to us. What packages do I need to disable to get rid of update?
So, I disabled the 2 packages called System Updates and then rebooted into recovery and wiped /cache hoping that it will wipe out the contents of the /cache/fota folder. Someone please let me know if I did something wrong or if any additional steps should be taken.
Boring...But good this phone is still getting frequent updates. Really needs some N love ASAP though.
just another security patch

You didn't do anything wrong. Your phone should be fine.
I cannot disable either System Updates app. I even tried downloading Package Disabler Pro and that didn't work either.
I've been deferring updating for days now and it's starting to really annoy me.

You need to get ahold of the guy who owns the app because there's an issue with the way it's trying to stop the updates... The one you're using probably has "com.samsung.sdm.sdmviewer" but you need to stop "com.samsung.sdm" and then it'll go away and the only way I got that to work was, he gave me a link to download a completely different one which stopped it. I'm pretty sure his email address is on the package disabler app on the play store.
Also you could load the root kernel so you at least have the console root and use the pm command to disable it if you need help let me know.

Try this https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294
See if you can disable the updater.

Lol thanks but I don't need that.. I was just trying to ask him if he figured it out for himself yet because otherwise the reason that package disabler and other apps aren't working to stop the upgrade nagging is because they decided to change the name from com.samsung.sdm.sdmviewer to com.samsung.sdm so when package disabler was stopping (or trying to stop the incorrect name) it just kept nagging until the right one was stopped and technically you don't even need package disabler because you could load up the console root kernel and use the pm disable command and it would do the same thing as package disabler but it's easier and faster to just use package disabler.

Samsung Members stuck at "Please Wait"

I'm trying to launch Samsung Members. It connects and I can see the screen that shows how to use it as well as the welcome with my name. But over that screen there's a "Please wait". I've left it all night but it's not going away.
I've tried force stopping the app, clearing the data and even uninstalling the update to reinstall it. Nothing works!
I have the Galaxy S7 SM-G930W8.
Thanks!

Do you have any screen overlay apps installed?
Such as blue light filter apps etc?

No nothing of the sort. I also tried to kill all apps and use the optimization app in the settings. Nothing works :/
Just installed it from Galaxy App Store and it has logged me in and works fine, so nothing wrong server side
The app is a bit useless though, any reason you want to use it? Nothing in there you can't do yourself another way tbh
Try booting to recovery and clearing cache from there, other than that I'm not sure
Mobile Data connection instead of WiFi try too, or vice versa

It was pre-installed on your S7?
I had to download it myself
You can use Package Disabler Pro to disable any apps you like, removes them from view, and does not require root

Yeah it's a system app on mine. Annoying.
My trouble is the same with Disabler Pro actually. I have to keep it after disabling. I'm a little obsessive lol!!

lol, well there is a final option (Well.. two but one is destructive)
1.) Flash a firmware it does not come pre-installed with (XEU for example)
2.) Root, and properly remove it (Destructive and will trip KNOX)

Nope, only flashing something custom will trip KNOX such as Root or custom Recovery / custom ROM

If you are moving to a CSC not included in the CSC (If it is multi) you already have on the phone (Use Samsung Phone INFO app to check), you'll need to use the CSC (Not HOME_CSC) part of the ROM along with the other 3 sections, and select 'Repartition' from the PIT section in ODIN
This will obviously reset your phone to factory, so backup first
I had the same issue.
Here's what I did that fixed it for me:
Google play > Samsung members > uninstall (which only remove the updates)
Galaxy apps store > Samsung members > update
That fixed it. Maybe I could have update it through google play and it would have worked, but I updated it through the galaxy apps store and it worked...

This is from one of the S7 forums but I pretty sure it's the same on the S8.
"There is an application coming on some phones called Custom blocker. It disables Download mode, ADB, Erase all data, Block device admin and other restrictions. Not possible to delete app, download firmware or force download mode with jig."
hii if you want to remove these restrictions and remove permanently from your device contact me
[email protected]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDfKciTB5ho
I don't understand.
Why and what is the purpose of this?
If true, is there an option to not install this in the first place, or is it being forced on the end user?
Do you know what devices these will be pushed to? Is it location, variant or carrier specific?
I'm sure some basic consumer rights are being abused.

Probably can't remove it but you can get Package Disabler Pro from the Play Store and disable it.
Ok guys succesfully removed custom blocker from SM-G935F.
Do not pay anybody for this just use your brains

The solution is very simple.
1. Configure a pin or password lock in security.
2. Go to settings>Lock screen and security>Security lock and settings.
3 Turn on auto factory reset and lock the phone.
3 Type 15 times the pin or password wrong ( you need several minutes to accomplish the task, probably 1 hour).
4 After the 15th time phone will reset and the blocker will be gone.

Privilege elevation?

Hello everyone. I'm just a bit curious (and worrying) about this.
I have the Find My Device (or formerly Android Device Manager) 's administrator permission disabled. However, this morning I got my device almostly erased by this feature (luckily I turned off Wi-Fi at that time). After re-checking, I found that somehow the admin permission was re-enabled (WITHOUT MY PERMISSION !). Could anyone here please explain me why?
Thanks very much.

Are you sure? If so it sounds like you must have malware with root access on your phone. Maybe your network also hacked.
I didn't think disconnecting WiFi will stop erase command, but I might be wrong as never tried it. Also you got everything back That suggests to me it was not "erasing" but something else was happening.....

Thanks for replying. Actually, I got to reproduce that scenario. I clean-flashed my firnware again with GApps, then revoke GMS' Administrator permission. And...it automatically enables when I click Enable Lock & Erase in Find My Device.

I don't know whether it works on your device.. I also tried on a Galaxy A5 (16) and it can still enable itself.
By the way, which model is your device?

Well, I thinks that depends on the GApps installation type (pre-installed or flashed manually).

Dead Mother's locked Velvet

I searched the forum for this and maybe I missed something but I can't find help anywhere.
My mother recently passed and we're trying to crack open her LG Velvet. She was very secretive about passwords and such and I can't break passed her finger pattern lock screen. Everything I've found says I can wipe her phone clean and it'll be clear but we need in to access her information and photos, we don't know what details she kept on her phone so we desperately need in. Does anyone know a way we can get passed the lock screen without erasing data? We've tried 55 times all the patterns we think she used but it's so far to no avail. We have T-Mobile, of which I called. They can't help so they sent me to LG and they can't help.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!
Id u can get an custom recovery installed on that go to /Data/system/ and erase all files with lockscreen name on it and it would remove the pattern

Hey you found a way to get past the code without losing data files? My situation is the exact same except it’s my brother, and it’s sooo frustrating!
