Weather widget - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Hi,
If you tap the clock on the home screen nothing happens? I thought was meant to load a weather info screen?
Maybe me being thick. ????

Go to your Google app and search "weather"
Once it gives you the weather, it'll ask you if you want to add weather to your home screen.
Click yes and a weather shortcut will be added.
Go back to the Google App and refresh your cards feed.
That should refresh the Pixel Launcher into adding the weather widget.
Working on my Android One.

Part of this functionality exists in Android 7.1.1 which is only out for last year's Nexus devices and the Pixel C at this time

All I can get is the shortcut icon to the weather app.

I downloaded the new 7.1.1 launcher from APK mirror then refreshed cards and it instantly changed to the widget.

The only other thing I can think of is to clear all your Google App data and do a reboot.

Thanks. This worked for me.
It just added a weather icon at first, but then I went over to cards, refreshed and scrolled down to see the weather there. As soon as I looked at the weather in the cards section, it was on my homescreen when I went back to it.

Pixel Launcher has just appeared in the market for me with an update to version 7.1.1. It says :
"The weather appers in the top right corner for your current location"
This hasn't happened to me as yet but I'm sure it will
Update: It just literally has.

Okay I've worked it out and now have the weather widget showing.
Swipe to cards and scroll to the weather card.
Tap the three dots to top right
Tap customise the feed (see screenshot)
Scroll down to 'everything else' (see screenshot)
Tap on each of the weather options and change to 'yes' (see screenshot)
Voila!

I am in Canada. Won't work for us until we get our own update. Pixel Launcher does not show up in the play store.

The weather seemed to appear for me after the Pixel Launcher updated from the play store.
I didn't make any other changes to make the weather appear.

On my phone it was saying not available in my country and not showing up on laptop in play store but when I went to this link
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.nexuslauncher
I was able to install from there.

This was the cure for me as well. I'm not sure why the update or Pixel app doesn't show in the play store. I also had to go into the weather card and retick all the boxes even though i had them ticked already.

How to get the stock Clock/Weather on Nova Launcher?

Trying to use Nova and missing the weather widget - how would I go about getting it within Nova? Can't seem to find it
I don't think you can. My last Samsung phone was a note 3 and you couldn't add some of the widgets to a 3rd party launcher. Weather was one of them.
zooper widgets.... There are a handful out that match it 100% already.

I was able to use the HTC sense widget in Nova
Zooper gave me very low quality images
XWidget on the other hand is perfect
I use beautiful weather widget with nova
Download Xwidget from the play store. It has all like-for-like S8 widgets, and most importantly it pulls data from Accuweather, rather than obscure OpenweatherMap in Zooper. You can also set a click event to open up the full weather. (Have to add the weather app on the homescreen first, from the weather settings)
Can't post screenshots, as first post, sorry

First of all go to the actual samsung weather setting and enable "add weather on apps screen
Then, on your xwidget's weather widget :
Click on it-menu will open
Click on Settings and About
Click on "click event "
Choose "open app"
Choose samsung weather as an app
Presto, samsung weather will open upon click on that widget

Revert back to stock launcher, access the weather from it, add "show weather on apps screen"
Then revert to Nova, and you'll have an actual weather button in your app drawer.

Worked like a charm...You are the man ty!
If you wanna add the weather/temp on the search bar, unlock the Labs settings in Nova and enable the option for it under the Labs settings. Clicking on the temp opens the Google weather app, not sure if you can default it to something else yet.
"It's really simple, actually - while in Nova's settings menu, hold volume down for 2-3 seconds. You'll see a toast notification letting you know that Labs was successfully enabled. Similarly, if you wish to disable the new menu for any reason, just hold volume up for 2-3 seconds."

Multiple Lock Screen Wallpapers?

Ok am i missing something ? On my previous Galaxys i could add up to 30 wallpapers pics and every time i unlocked the wallpapers rotated on lock screen only.
Have Samsung done away with this feature or is it just well hidden.

found a workaround for this, using multipicture live wallpaper from the playstore you can setup multiple images to the be shown on the lock screen however it wont change everytime you start the screen it will change as per time set. Still better than nothing.
For multi wallpaper pls check my thread>https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/themes/root-multiwallpaper-lockscreen-t3638406
We Can find multiple wallpaper in the Samsung theme store. So it's possible !
Maybe only with the theme developper kit...
Any idea ?
If you use Nova Launcher, or anything that can create activities, then you can still use the native Samsung multiple lock screen wallpaper selector app. Find the 'My Interests' app in whatever app you use to see activities, and it has the 'Multiple images' activity for '.ui.KeyguardPhotoSlideMainActivity'. ?
This should work too: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...pchanger&hl=en&rdid=com.shirobakama.wpchanger

You should get an award for finding this. Thanks!
I was unable to find "My Interests" but here is how I managed it.
With Nova installed press and hold on a blank icon space to add a widget as normal. Choose Activities from the Nova section.
Find Keyguard Wallpaper Updator and twirl it down and select Multiple Images. This will add an icon to your home screen that will open the hidden multiple wallpaper chooser.

I was able to find that option. But after starting the "Multiple images" activity it tells me that I need to give the "My interests" app permission for the "Multiple images" activity to work. But there is no "My interests" app/activity on my phone.

Unfortunately, I didn't. I'll post one as soon as I find one. The needed service doesn't seem to be installed or doesn't seem to be accesible that easily.
Same problem here on A8plus 2018
It was working fine on Oreo
After upgrading to pie it asked for this annoying permission
Same here on an S10+. Asks for storage permissions, and I can't give it to the app.
Two other things that didn't work

I thought perhaps I could grant it with adb, but no go. I tried:
adb shell pm grant com.samsung.android.keyguardwallpaperupdator android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
... but I got:
Security exception: Package com.samsung.android.keyguardwallpaperupdator has not requested permission android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
I also tried installing a more recent version that I found here (uploaded just yesterday) but it said "Target: Android 6.0" and it wouldn't install.

Use the whitelist app posted in this forum. It's on Google Play.
I have no idea what the Essential app did other than whitelist Nova.
It didn't seem to do anything for me. I turned off whitelisting from the app and Nova reverted to old behavior. Maybe it's just whitelisting and if you already had that setup it doesn't do anything else.

Yeah, interesting indeed. I hope this will be fixed in a future update.
I already had the whitelist editor installed and Nova was selected. Even after the update, when I deselect nova on the whitelist editor, it's no longer full scene. Not sure if the whitelist editor overrides the company's update... either way I rather use the whitelist editor than wait on Essential to update their whitelist. Lol
Seeing the same thing on mine. Luckily the whitelist editor works so well it's not really an issue.

So I guess I'm not the only one. Right now I just put google app in the middle of the dock to access the feeds. But still I would appreciate if there is some way to fix it because it looks really cool if it works on the shelf.
Are you guys for real? No offense, but this whole thread sounds like an Onion piece - Jaccob from Hicksville cannot get his feed, so SirFace from Armenia offers advice on the Google Shelf and Dock
Forgive my ignorance, but I never heard of Google Shelf and Dock. To access Google feed - click on Google Search widget, then click on the "G" letter in top left of the screen.
EDIT: Hehe, just learned there's an actual feed widget. Sorry, guys. My feed widget is also broken, just added to the screen - same result as OP

Shelf is actually OP6 shelf (the widget page appear when you swipe right). And dock is just the bottom area where you put all the "fixed app" that don't move when you swipe left and right.
But yeah, I'm kinda surprised that very few people noticed this problem. I'm sure there are many ways to access Google feed. But it would be cool if I can check the feeds by simply swipe right (just like what you can do on Pixel phones).

Add shortcut to a feed/widget to the main homescreen? Huh?
The Google cards will show when you click the "more cards" button. My guess is OnePlus wasn't able to integrate the cards to their launcher, but clicking that button pulls up the Google feed you are used to.
I stopped using the OP launcher. Went back to Nova. Made the right page my home page, swipe right and put my widgets on that page. (Left of my home page) If I'm on home page and swipe up, the Google feed launches. (Press home button (with OP6 gestures enabled is just swipe up) shortcut to launch app)

I'm sure that will work. But I just hate and love OP launcher at the same time...
The only reason I'm still using it is because of the app drawer swipe up animation. I know it might sounds ridiculous but it is kinda important to me. Nova launcher have that app drawer slide animation but you have to swipe from the very bottom of the screen instead if anywhere like stock android. And if you set swipe up gesture, you can do that anywhere but without the animation... sad
The closest launcher I find that have both is Lawnchair launcher, but that animation is a bit laggy.
But thank you for your suggestions. I guess I'm just a bit too picky on this one:laugh:

[Tutorial][8.0+] How to Install Good Lock 2018

Hi
If you're a XDA's regular visitor, you have already known that Samsung released GOOD LOCK app again and this time for OREO only. If not, head over to the XDA feature portal here:
Samsung is bringing back Good Lock, the UI customization app
https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-bringing-back-good-lock/As it is stated in post this release is region specific only. Luckily I've figured out a way by which every Oreo Samsung user can install and use this to modify some system UI tweaks. So let's start.
Download the .zip file from here, extract it and install all apps one by one. Some apps(edge lightning etc) show icons on launcher. Open them and go through them you'll learn how to use them to tweaks SystemUI.
For apps that don't show icons, Download and install Activity Manager app from Play Store.
Now Launch it and search for the apps you installed along with good lock like quickstar, lockstar task changer etc
Upon finding app, just lauch 1st activity and you'll be brought right to that app's setting page.
Modify it as you like and you're done.

Oh wow! This was worth it for the task changer and quick star alone! Makes the phone feel like a new phone. I wish they had added options to change the navbar as well.
Thanks for a great contribution.
Thanks for the files works great!
Hey guys, does somebody know why my clock disappears on lockscreen whenever I use Lockstar? I'm on RenovateICE and every apk is working fine except Lockstar that for some reasons doesn't want to make the clock appear. I tried to check on the RICE settings if there was anything to hide etc but everything is disabled/stock. Any advice?

You can select app by pressing the + button in preview screen
I tried every single possible thing so far that I could come up with, but I got no results. It's a bit sad though, the apk is so great that it would be a shame to lose it!

As I said I can't select any apps
Because there is no plus symbol
And also no clock is shown on the Lockscreen
In the settings you can see the clock
Cool
I was able to install Good Lock through The Galaxy App store. The apps work as they should, no issues.
Thanks !

Im also having the same issue. Whats weird is I also tried the same app I installed to my colleague's S8 and it works fine. Only thing I can think of is the dpi since thats the only thing I changed

I can confirm it's the dpi. Reverting it back to 360 makes Lockstar work again.
Sad, won't keep my phone at a crap dpi just for a lockscreen!
