How to get the stock Clock/Weather on Nova Launcher? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Trying to use Nova and missing the weather widget - how would I go about getting it within Nova? Can't seem to find it

I don't think you can. My last Samsung phone was a note 3 and you couldn't add some of the widgets to a 3rd party launcher. Weather was one of them.

zooper widgets.... There are a handful out that match it 100% already.

Not possible. If you got Trident when it was free in Google Play there's a version of it in there.

I was able to use the HTC sense widget in Nova

Zooper gave me very low quality images
XWidget on the other hand is perfect

I use beautiful weather widget with nova

Download Xwidget from the play store. It has all like-for-like S8 widgets, and most importantly it pulls data from Accuweather, rather than obscure OpenweatherMap in Zooper. You can also set a click event to open up the full weather. (Have to add the weather app on the homescreen first, from the weather settings)
Can't post screenshots, as first post, sorry

i use Chronus with Nova.. Works wonders..

Second widget on nova. Used the extended version.

Then, on your xwidget's weather widget :
Click on it-menu will open
Click on Settings and About
Click on "click event "
Choose "open app"
Choose samsung weather as an app
Presto, samsung weather will open upon click on that widget

Lol
Revert back to stock launcher, access the weather from it, add "show weather on apps screen"
Then revert to Nova, and you'll have an actual weather button in your app drawer.
The rest as per my post above.
Hope this helps

Worked like a charm...You are the man ty!

If you wanna add the weather/temp on the search bar, unlock the Labs settings in Nova and enable the option for it under the Labs settings. Clicking on the temp opens the Google weather app, not sure if you can default it to something else yet.
"It's really simple, actually - while in Nova's settings menu, hold volume down for 2-3 seconds. You'll see a toast notification letting you know that Labs was successfully enabled. Similarly, if you wish to disable the new menu for any reason, just hold volume up for 2-3 seconds."

LG LAUNCHER IN THE MARKET
i been scrolling in the android market and came across this application which looks like the port of the old launcher i did a while back,
(this version has bugs on them and doesnt work very well)
i want to first say that it took me a time to make this launcher to work, LG is the owner of this launcher, but still give credit to those who work and put time on this, damn.

I like it however the calendar widget does not seem to work. Is it suppose to pull the events from the sense calendar or go to it when you click a date? As of right now when I click on a date in the calendar widget it does nothing. How did you get the sense clock to work, or is it something diff (forgot the name of the other one lol).

moving around the icons and labels you have to open the app drawer and just click "menu" theres alot of options there.

This is pretty smooth. I wish the rosie launcher would allow you to add your own shortcuts to it. I hate the default shortcuts we're stuck with.

Sent from my SM-N920T using XDA Free mobile app
For some reason I remember it appeared in the widgets on the Note 4 even with Nova. But, you can't on the Note 5. However, you can use a 3rd party widget application (like Zooper) and install an S6 Weather widget (which is pretty much the same as the stock Note 5 weather widget). Or you could use UCCW or Zooper and create your own. I was going to do that, but I got lazy and bought one from the play store for $0.99 that works with Zooper Pro.
It you're looking for something similar and clean looking like the stock widget you could run a Brightweather and Timely Combination. Have App Overlay turned on and place Brightweather at the top and then Timely below it and stretch Brightweather over Timely to give make it look as if it's one widget and while keeping it clean.
This is how I had it set up for example. I hope this is a good alternative for you!

Xwidget is also a good alternative, although, I have never been able to get the stock weather app to work with Nova.
chronus widget added one that looks similar. need to download the Chronus GS6 weather icon pack too.
There is a way to do it. Technically, won't be the widget but it will be a zooper that looks just like it. You'll also have to add some transparent icons to open the app whenever you tap the widget. I'll find to how to and post it here
Here you go the zoomed widget that looks like the Samsung weather widget https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.designedly.zwskin.s6widgets
And this is what the widget looks like.

Do you mean on the Lock screen or the home screen?
you can get the weather widget on the lock screen when Nova is your default launcher. -
All you have to do is setup weather in your touchwiz launcher - once you have a location assigned in the stock home screen weather widget in Touchwiz launcher - the weather will be added to the lock screen regardless of whether you use Touchwiz or Nova - but you have to turn it on in Touchwiz to get it to work on the lock screen after Nova is set as your default launcher.
I also just tried to add "weather widget" on my Nova Home Screen and it works too - I dont know if adding it in Nova will automatically inlcude it on the lock screen or not - but I know if you follow the instructions above, it does work.
Hope that helps.

not sure - but I just tried to replicate the look of the stock widget with Beautiful widgets and I got pretty close to what you are looking for - just need to use the right layout and correct thrme - I threw this one together without trying to match the exact look - with a little searching, I am sure you could find a theme that is even closer to stock look -

Note 5 Weather Widget Works With Nova Launcher

READ THE WHOLE THING!
Im using the OFFICIAL weather widget that comes in our Note 5.
The thing is the widget looks different in the preview of Nova Widgets.. The widget looks like white blue calendar in the preview however once you put the widget on the "Desktop" it'll turn into the one that's on the touchwiz launcher.
Widgets > Scroll all the way down till you see the widget "Weather 5X2" (AGAIN it will look different in the preview) > Then apply to home screen.
The only thing that is not available is the clean digital clock but you can do my fix which comes pretty close to the clock widget.
The clock I'm using is a skin through beautiful widgets pro.
- BW Clock 2x1
- Skin: S5-Lollipop-Smooth.
- Turn the background to 0%
- Feature: none
- Select the Date Format of your choice
Once you guys get the widgets setup re-size them to complete the look.
Hope this helps!!

Note 5 Weather Widget Works With Nova Launcher ?
Goes to Widgets, looks through them all, nope don't see the stock Samsung Weather / Clock widget in Nova. So no, this doesn't work, without a third party widget.
The thread title is very misleading. As I would love Nova to allow some stock Weather / Clock widgets to work. Same with HTC Sense widget, most of the good stock ones don't work with Nova.
The only thing I found that looks vaguely close to Samsung weather clock widget is HD weather widgets

Go to your Google app and search "weather"
Once it gives you the weather, it'll ask you if you want to add weather to your home screen.
Click yes and a weather shortcut will be added.
Go back to the Google App and refresh your cards feed.
That should refresh the Pixel Launcher into adding the weather widget.
Working on my Android One.
Part of this functionality exists in Android 7.1.1 which is only out for last year's Nexus devices and the Pixel C at this time
All I can get is the shortcut icon to the weather app.

Thanks. This worked for me.
It just added a weather icon at first, but then I went over to cards, refreshed and scrolled down to see the weather there. As soon as I looked at the weather in the cards section, it was on my homescreen when I went back to it.
Pixel Launcher has just appeared in the market for me with an update to version 7.1.1. It says :
"The weather appers in the top right corner for your current location"
This hasn't happened to me as yet but I'm sure it will
Update: It just literally has.
Okay I've worked it out and now have the weather widget showing.

Nova vs stock

On the s8, wanted to get opinions of people whom tried the stock launcher for some time, then moved to NOVA launcher,
Do YOU see a difference in lag experience between the two launchers on the s8 ?
(Not worried about customization differences)
I started with nova prime but slowly over time have gone to TW, it's not near as bad as it used to be. Didn't notice much lag on either launcher but I've disabled quite a few services.
Nova launcher is much smoother everywhere but I back to TouchWiz. Love the new TouchWiz.
Sorry Nova you not my preferable for this moment.
I have been using the Nova Prime since its release.
I always install it on any smartphone first of all. However, this time I gave a small chance to the new Samsung UI and was a few days with it.
No way, the Nova is way better/smoother.
Futhermore, the Nova launcher equalizes
the performance of any smartphone. For instance, my previous Note 3 and 4 got the same smoothness with the Nova as compared to the S8+.
Nova for me; much more flexibility and control of my home screen. widget placement is very limited with TW, not so with Nova. and now Nova allows you to swipe left and show Google Now. my (simple/clean) work layout is below . the only drawback using Nova vs TW is limited (if any) use of TW widgets.

On Your homescreen screenshot,
- Which weather widget is that on the top right corner?
- Is the Google Icon on Top left a part of the Wallpaper, or is it a Widget?
- Which Clock, and Agenda widget is it on the bottom left?
I Really like the way you have organized your homescreen. Neat and Clean, and quite informative as well.

weather graphic and temp is widget from Today Weather app. location and current condition is a custom Zooper Widget.

this is also a custom, but simple Zooper widget; it's comprised of a bitmap that when pressed, launches Google Now

clock is a single Zooper widget using the Samsung Clock font. the agenda is also a Zooper widget that includes the next alarm, and my next appointment. it uses predefined xml code included in the app.

thanks for the compliment. this is basically all i need to see when i'm working. as an FYI, the navbar buttons are from a substratum theme and @Tigerhoods 35pt high navbar overlay. also, my Nova desktop grid is 16x11; this allows for precise placement of widgets so i can get the widget layout exactly like i want it.
Going into developer options and cutting the animation speed helps a ton without sieging up the interface
nova is way better than stock!
Nova FTW
Nova for me! Every time I get a new phone I right away root and remove/uninstall stock launcher and have Nova as my main. I LOVE the fact that I can double tap the home screen to lock the screen (less pressing the button - less wear on button). On top of that it's just an over all smooth and fast experience with Nova
Thanks for the comments, and im aware of all the advantages nova has, But intrested in overall lag experience between the two launchers on the s8
Stock is gorgeous. Who says otherwise is just plain idiot who haven't tried all the options.

seriously shortsided view, lol. what are you drinking/smoking tonite?
I want to use nova, but it's still have to much battery drain compared to touch wiz. ever since nova 5.0 it has had problem with battery drain, had that issue on my HTC 10 also. such shame, cus there are much better customazion on nova

I tried stock, nova and pixel launchers. It's very clear that stock is the winner.
I also asked my iPhone friend what he thinks is the best one not knowing which is which and not knowing anything about them, and he chose stock as well.
Edit: spelling
I tried TouchWiz but it doesn't allow me to resize my widget. And I don't believe I can achieve this setup with TouchWiz.

You need Nova beta and you need to download the Google Now add-on for Nova from the web.
