Hi,
I have one old USB sound card (Steel Series Siberia) and it works fine with Galaxy S7 with stock player or any other player. I've recently got SMSL IDOL and while it gets detected properly on my phone and I also see the device in "Audio Path" option, there's no sound when I use stock player or even pro version or poweramp. I can use ONKYO HF player with some success but it doesn't play some of my music and I am not sure if it will play it even if I purchase app.
I have gone through this and tried everything but nothing is useful so far. Has anyone managed to get USB audio working successfully with any SMSL device ?
My SMSL IDEA works with USB Audio Player PRO.
There is a trial version. http://www.extreamsd.com/index.php/uapp-trial

When I got this device I had installed PA, and so far I had been using that with no issues. Since I heard about 38R's default extra audio stuff I decided to install it. Now, USB audio no longer works. Google music player says "cannot play audio" (flac file) and poweramp (the other player I use) starts then immediately stops if i use default kernel. *IF* I root and install Franco then poweramp can play the music via USB but it still comes out in 44.1Khz/16bit. Can someone tell me what the hell is going on with Cm11S and USB DAC support?

i have 7.1 usb sound card. and OFC i have only on 2 channels. but not skipping flac tracks.
edit: 96khz 24bit listening now via usb and sounds really great.
maybe you have corrupted flac files... or try to flash everything again

You're getting 96/24 on USB really? dang.
Ok I fluked into the solution. I told my music player *not* to use it's own volume settings and so on (PowerAmp has an option for this called 'Direct Volme control') and to completely bypass MusicFX (or any equivalent equaliser). PowerAmp has an option for both ('enable AudioFX' in poweramp to be unchecked). THEN it works with USB audio, it's still a bit wierd the first time you plug it in (i think).
This also means 'Google Music' will not work (which it doesn't) since it has no option to *not* send things via MusicFX. Well, I never had a ROM with built in equaliser, maybe the fact that there is one in CM is causing issues for USB DACs?

you know what?? my poweramp doesnt want to play some flac's with higher qualities even when "direct" is unchecked, but play music does and audiofx built in equaliser works good with play music.
btw how do you checking real bit and freq which is playing by device?

my DAC displays the input it receives and the method (e.g/ usb. 48Khz 16 bit). it doesn't do all (44.1 is missing but gets converted to 48 I guess ?). Real idk, but the device reports it as " this is the digital signal I'm getting". As an example...on my computer I use foobar and have it set to bitperfect mode (no conversions just send signal directly to DAC whatever the bitrate etc)...when I play a cdrip my dac says "48" and "16". if I then switch to my 96khz/24 bit download of dire straits it immediately switches to saying "96" and "24bit" in the little screen on my DAC.

i wonder there are apps to show in notification bar my current media quality... couldnt find any..
This is actually incredible. Before upgrading to Lollipop on Galaxy S5 I was able to plug my DAC (a Dragonfly 1.2) via USB OTG cable into my Galaxy S5 and enjoy pristine usb audio without a single hint of a problem - all apps working - MX Player, Inbuilt Music App, Poweramp etc - all working perfectly.
Then I upgrade to Lollipop, which is supposed to be great for USB Audio, and it doesn't work any more. At all. I am now back to using an app called USB Audio Player Pro, which allows you to use DAC audio devices to connect to headphones and (thank god!) this still works awesomely, but I was really enjoying all my apps making use of my USB audio device and now that has just been screwed over by the update.
There was so much pleasure in just plugging in a usb audio device into the phone via an OTG cable and everything working great, but now I just fall on my knees and shake my fists in the air bellowing "WWWHHHHYYYYYYY??!!!!"
Has this affected anyone else ? I've restarted, factory reset since the update and googled the crap outta this and all I can find are people saying "Yay! USB Audio functionality has been added with Lollipop".
From my perspective, this appears to be balls.
I'll happily downgrade back to the older android OS if its possible just to get this one happy function back.
Hi I think you should ask your question here instead. There are lots of active people in that forum that will give you some answers and hopefully a solution.
thank you and good luck
I have two Nexus 5, one is running Lollipop 5.1.1, the other Marshmallow 6.0 (OTA upgrade).
USB Audio out works fine on the Lollipop Nexus 5: I can connect a USB DAC (iBasso D-zero MK2) using an OTG cable and play streaming music with Spotify, Google Play Music and local music files with Rocket Player. Connecting the same USB DAC with the same cable to the Marshmallow Nexus 5 fails: no sound when playing streaming music and local files using the same apps. (The USB Audio Player Pro app works fine on the Marshmallow Nexus 5, though, allowing to play local music files via USB.)
I tried the "Select USB Configuration" setting in Developers Options and set it to "Audio Source", with no success.
Also, the "Disable USB audio routing" setting in Developers Options is disabled.
Do someone have experience with USB Audio on Nexus 5 Marshmallow?
I received a brand new Nexus 9 today and updated it to Lollipop 5.1.1: USB audio worked fine without any special setting.
After update to Marshmallow 6.0: USB audio is gone!
It works with the USB Audio Player Pro app, which only plays your own local files.
This issue does not seem to be device dependant, since it occurs on both Nexus 5 and 9.
Seems to be a drastic regression of 6.0, or a limitation which was not here in Lollipop.
Can somebody test this on Nexus 5X/6P?
I have a Nexus 6 and I am having the same issue. USB connected to Android Auto on my Volkswagen Golf worked perfectly on 5.1.1, now no sound on 6.0 OTA. Same USB cable, only a software update.
Has this been resolved? I have just updated my Shield TV to Marshmallow and also have no sound.
seems like an issue in MM only =/

I'm guessing there is no solution to this yet. I have a Galaxy Note 5 and I have the same exact issue. USB Audio Player Pro works like a charm but nothing else gets a squeak
Hey guys
I'm pairing my BLOX with a pair of Cootree 260 (also known as QY8) but the audio cuts off every 15 to 20 secs. no matter what app I'm using (Spotify, VLC Media Player, Youtube...). I've tested the headphones to my Samsung Tab Pro 8.4 and Hisense Sero 7 Pro and it works perfectly, glitch only occurs on my phone. Also tried pairing other Bluetooth headphones without a problem. I've tried resetting the headsets and removed other Bluetooth devices from the known devices.
My phone is rooted running stock. Xposed running GravityBox [LP]
Any ideas? Thanks for any help

Like I mentioned, they work on my other tablets but it's on my phone that this problem occurs. Update, I listened to a podcast playing on the Google Chrome app and it was fine. So I guess it's only on the music apps like VLC and Spotify.
Anybody?

I have an old Sanyo TV with 3 HDMI ports. When I installed the Firestick, it worked perfectly, except for the Audio. The instructions say to use Audio 3, but when I switch the audio input cables to Audio 3, the cable tv show that is on sounds through my TV, but I can't hear sound from the videos from Netflix or Hulu. Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks!
Hi !
It may be a Netflix issue , the app isn`t properly working on certain devices
