I was in T-Mobile today pre-ordering the V20. The rep let me know about the "free" LG tablet promo and I declined. He then told me if I have an old working paid off smartphone from any carrier in good working condition LG would write a $200 check/credit toward the LG V20. I went home and grabbed an AT&T HTC Inspire 4G and factory reset it. No cracks and phone is in good to great condition. The associate took down the IMEI and verified it and gave the phone back to me. When my V20 comes in there is going to be another box with paid postage to send the old phone back to LG and between 6 to 8 weeks they will send me a check for $200 toward the V20. I'm not sure if it's a cashable check or just a phone credit.
Yeap, i am turning in an old Droid Razr MAXX. I already got my email from T-Mobile that my promotion application for it was accepted. I just need to send it back and they will do a 3 point inspection on it. Hopefully it all goes through ok.

They said when the V20 comes in it will have a box and return shipping label. LG should be cutting the check, not T-Mobile this time. The quote t-mobile gave me was $0 but they said LG would cut the full amount. 6-8 weeks. We will see how it plays out.

When I get a phone I really like, can root and develop I'll keep it until it dies. I had my LG G3 for almost 3 years lol. Updated to Nougat and everything. That phone is still being developed. Anyway, this phone is going to be a holder for me.

For me this phone is a stop gap until the S8 comes out. If it wasn't for the whole Note 7 crap I wouldn't even be getting the V20. I am going to miss Samsung Pay though - I used it everywhere. I have a replacement for it but it won't ship until 1Q next year https://plastc.com/
I used to root/rom and do all that but with Samsungs latest a lot of the stuff I wanted to root for I could do without root. I could install ad blockers into stock browser. I'm on a Google Music family plan so no youtube ads.
Not sure if I'll root/TWRP/Xposed the V20 or not. I never did the Samsungs because you would lose either Samsung Pay or Fingerprint sensor and I wanted both.

I went Into the store, pre ordered my V20 and brought a old HTC in. I paid $120 in taxes and down payment for the V20 and he took down the IMEI and verified it on his computer. I'm not sure if JOD is the same as the regular Jump! program, but I had no problem doing it at all. The check comes in 8 weeks after you send your phone back to LG and it's only good toward the V20

It makes sense you could not do this with the JOD device you are returning. I have the original Jump program and did not use my current phone that I would have jumped from but rather an old Droid Razr MAXX that I had laying in my draw. The device you are turning in needs to be paid off in full. Like others have mentioned, if you do not have an old phone laying around, you can buy the cheapest 4g smartphone you can find and use it to get the $200.

Is your phone going to Ascurion?
I'm on JOD & followed the trade-in link on my Order Status page, used a $30 Straight Talk Alcatel phone for the trade-in,had to get assistance/approval from CustomerCare since the actual item wasn't in the drop-down menu when going thrugh the process.
My pre-paid mailing label pdf shows it going to Ascurion, not LG.
I have a feeling this entire process is half-baked,since I too had other reps stating JOD wasn't eligible.
( My entire process/Ttransaction was documented by Customer Care,as I completed the process while they were still on the phone & they sent texts confirming as much)
Worse case scenario,if it's deemed a no-go after the dust has settled,I'll just hit 'em up for a $30 bill credit to cover the cost of the trade-in phone...........................
he said he made a down payment, that's not JOD that's Jump! 1.0 or 2.0

I just ordered 2 Alcatel 4g phones, $17.95 each with same day shipping from Amazon to process this promotion with the 2 LG V20's I ordered, both are with Jump1.
Here's the trade in link if anyone needs it.

Lucky you. I went to the store last night and they were clueless. I had to tell them about the promotion etc. . It was a nightmare. I ended up just walking out and calling instead. Wish I just did that from the start was super easy.

THX,that's exactly what I did (JOD) immediately after taking delivery of my V20 on 10/19,grabbed the cheapest 4G LTE phone available @ my local WalMart & followed the same link via my Order Status page.
Sending it out today 1st chance I get.
So,we just sit back & wait,or,is there anything extra we/T-Mobile/LG need to do to get the $200 (less trade-in allowance) ?

This is where things get a little confusing, since the value of the phones are $0 (I bought a old prepaid phone as well for $18) How does LG know to send us the $200 E-Check?
I am assuming once T-Mobile receives the device, they forward this information to LG via order # etc...I will just go in the store to make sure this is done right.

Has anybody here done it for the note 5? I currently have an LG g3 and just transferred an upgrade to my line. If they are truly giving $200 and guarantee for any smartphone I have a working droid x laying here.

Got mine today, traded old Droid X, got $200 GC that I was able to use towards phone. Pretty easy.
I added a new 2yr contract on my account. Bought the 64gb version for 349. Sold them an iPhone 3GS for 200. BB tried to give me the free wireless charger, but I didn't want it (already have a dozen of these things), I traded that for a $40 tempered glass. Also, they gave me a Samsung-The Next Big Thing is Here t-shirt.

I did it
And now I have way too much giftcard money to bestbuy. And the wireless charging pad isn't working! It seems many people are having this issue (s6, s6+ ect.), but no real answers.

Did you buy the phone out right? They wouldn't let me put it towards the phone on the edge program.
To get $200 trade in you have to either renew 2yr contract or get on new pay plan. Lucky me used one of my data lines. Can't get $200 trade in if buying outright.

I forgot.
Did everyone else have to pay $50 to get on the pre-order list? They made me pay $50, then they gave me a $50 gift card. That, with the $200 from another smartphone, you can't spend it all on the phone (unless you had over $50 in taxes?). It really bummed me out because I don't shop at bestbuy.
Yeah I had to get $50 f2f also
I got my Note 5 64GB at Best Buy first thing Friday morning. They gave me the free Samsung wireless charger but I passed on the $200 gift card. I'm getting $260 for my Note 4 from Gazelle.
Best buy wouldn't give me the wireless charger or the $200 because I paid full price.(to keep my unlimited data)
The advertising said you just have to activate the phone to get it, but in the store they claim you have to activate it "on a new contract".
I was going to buy it anyway and they price matched Verizon so I went ahead and got it. But I won't be buying from BB again.

If you get it on the Edge Program, you get a $200 gift card and free wireless charger. Then if you trade in a phone, you get another $200 gift card. You can pay the phone off anytime during the edge program. Where there's a will, there's a way.
All the Best Buys around Los Angeles seem to be out of the 64gb verizon variant. They refuse to talk about stock over the phone so I have no idea when they will get more in. Hope its before this deal runs out.

Got $200 GC from BB and used that right away. I renewed contract on 2yr line, not through VZW's new plan line. I still have family plan so I was able to renew using that. New plan only effects new customers.

Yep they'll make sure your old trade in phone turns on and off, no cracks, they didn't even ask for my charger. Once they verify it's in working condition they'll do some "rebate thing" and give you $200 gift card. Then at the end they'll renew your contract and give you total for everything. That is when you used gift card and pay difference. If you have rewards certificate make sure you tell them about it also so you can use those also.

Yes all Note 7 sold before 9/15/16 will show up bad when you check the imei.
Also the latest update is ph9 and it doesn't have the 60% charge rate.
Just went to three stores. None of them could or would process return for Sero.
Two of the stores had replacements that they brought out but when they tried to process the return they couldn't do it.
Finally called telesales, transferred multiple times, over a hour and a half on the phone and they are shipping mine.
I went to a corp. store with my sero Note 7. Sales person asked me if I worked for Sprint at some point, and I said I was really close friends with an employee. She said "oh", and mentioned my plan and exchanged my phone. They did ask where I bought it, and said online. But, no issues, no fuss, no muss.

did you show them your original receipt or did they process your return with your account number only? Im not sure what to bring to the store. that's why.
They asked me where I bought it (online), and I told them corporate is telling people to go to stores where she issued a "that figures" sort of look. No receipt or paperwork... my phone number and email was all that I had to provide (other than the phone). I wish I held onto all the accessories, though.
I'm a Sero500 customer and went to a corporate store, they exchanged and activated it no problems. The manager was on a phone the whole time I was there....so the manager wasn't needed for mine.

i would watch out. I went yesterday to a sprint store here in Van Nuys, CA after i got out of work and about 30 minutes before that i was told that they had the silver one in stock after making me wait for an hour i was asked if i had the box and i replied for what? No i don't they then told me i had to pay a 35 dollar restocking fee if i didn't cause they needed the serial number off if the box. I then told him that all the number that are in that box are in the phone and that was a bunch of b.s. Mind you this that was a sprint corporate store not some kiosk in the middle of the mall owned by habib. Well after some arguing and i told them just get the phone ill just call sprint later and have then refund me these 35 dollars they come back and said they only had the blue one. I was pissed then he said they would waive the 35 dollars i yelled some f u at him and proceed to call sprint about the issue they are now sending me my phone and some added $$$$$ of my bill for the trouble.
Anymore updates? .. im planing to call telesales next week to get my replacement..

so exactly at 12 i called up t-mobile and pre-ordered my v20. the price of the phone is $769.99. i also took advantage of the free tablet offer. getting an LG G Pad X 8.0. looking forward to that. never really had a tablet. definitely going to root it and unlock it. in t-mobiles system they only had the titan color, which is what i wanted anyways. can't wait to finally have the phone in my hand....
X 8.0 is a decent tablet and you will love it.
It's rootable with dz and LGUP.
I will pay off and trade in my V10 for it.
Hmm.. I'm a bit too tired to call T-Mobile, but their website shows nothing thus far.
I'm still very hesitant.. I don't mind waiting a bit to see if LG will allow an official bootloader unlocker for the H915. But T-Mobile phones have been unlockable in the past. I don't know which one will see more developer action
If you log into MyT-Mobile you can order it. I actually ordered mine 10 minutes before Midnight PST
I ordered through the website this morning. I'm sort of curious since the website doesn't have it as pre-order and it's showing a ship date of 10-17 to 10-24 and the phone as in stock. So I'm cautiously optimistic that I could have this thing in hand this week.
Going to walk into the local dealer and order at 10am. Figure I've bugged them long enough that I should. Also going to take advantage of the phone trade-in. I see online that there are two tablets available. Is the one you listed the better of the two?
Ordered mine through T-Mobile as well!! It's expected to ship as early as today; can't wait. I didn't do the tablet because the customer service said you had to keep the data plan open for 2 years, which makes it a not free tablet since the plan is $10 per month. I'll get the headphones whenever the phone gets in, though, so that's a plus! Definitely looking forward to getting this now that my Note 7 is gone and I'm back to my Note Edge that has a bunch of dead pixels
Just a note on this, I ordered through the web then called the customer support because the shipping upgrade I did hadn't processed properly. The person on the phone said the phone is already backordered as of just a few minutes after I ordered and that any new orders from this point forward likely won't ship until early November.
Now I just need to find a solid case and buy the stylus!!

So much for the tablet. I don't use much of the tethering I already have. I don't need another data plan.
And that's not cool that they're already sold out. I was going to trade in my N6 and use my cracked Note 3 until this got here but I'm not willing to use the Note 3 that long. LG has made us wait long enough. They really should have had more stock in country than this.

Still worth a shot! You may order at the same time that someone else cancels an order! Plus, the phone customer service person seemed to have thought that it had been on backorder for several hours already, so maybe they sell from a different pot of phones than the web does. Look at buying on the web as that's what I did and got a ship out date of this week. Definitely worth it, IMO. I'm sitting on a Galaxy Note Edge that has several green lines running down the screen until I get this one, lol

Just realized my old Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a 4G phone that I can trade in. And hoping you're right about separate pots but that's not usually the case.

Unaccounted for? Probably not. Sounds like the next ones don't hit the country until well into November. Someone said they were quoted 11/15-12/15. I've yet to order mine. Heading to the store here in a little bit to do it. LG really keeps dropping the ball on this one. They better hope rumors of something really awesome don't hit before the V20 ships.
T-Mobile stores will have them in stock on release day. The ones being shipped to you through pre-orders will not cut into the stores stock.
For those of you being quoted a November ship date, just walk into a T-Mobile store on release day.
So it looks like you do have to be careful about which 4G phone you try to trade in. They just use a database and if your phone isn't in it, too bad. My Galaxy Nexus didn't make the cut so I'll have to send them my Nexus 6 instead. And just to note, they only apply the actual trade in value. (In my case $60) You have to fill out some promotion that I can't seem to find and they (LG?) send you a check for the rest of the amount. So for me, that would be the other $140.

Curious as to when that is?
Reason I ask, call me a conspiracy theorist if you must. T-Mobile is facing a potential customer dip due to the Note 7 fiasco. What better way to avert potential customer base loss (device lease fees etc.)by getting the V20 out as quickly as possible, primarily before the Google Pixel hits the streets... Do they actually have them in stock, or are they baiting customers? Seems odd to completely skip the "preorder" phase and go straight to "In-Stock" and shipping 17-24 October...
I am actually one of those folks, preordered the Pixel XL on October 4th which should be here this week. However, now with the V20 available I still have time to cancel my Google order and pick up the LG.
So now I have both on order and "technically" should have both by the end of the week. As outlined though, I doubt the V20 ships to anyone this week... Of course I could be way off base, but think the V20 thing is a tad more than coincidental...

I think the backorder situation on both phones is driven by the Note 7 fiasco. People are grabbing for the next best phones available.
Other than the battery issue, I think both phones are a step down from the Note 7.
I too was told early to mid November for delivery while my order acknowledgement says this week. I guess it'll be here when it gets here.
I just spoke with T-Mobile help on twitter. They checked my order and confirmed the 10-17 to 10-24 shipping date was correct. They're probably trying to get these out as quick as possible due to the Note 7 recall and the massive iPhone 7 back-order. I paid for overnight shipping, so I'm hoping that it really does ship today. I'll update in this thread as soon as I get a tracking number.
I just orderer mine via phone. Shipping date 10/17 to 10/24. He did not give me overnight shipping, i dont know if it will be cause of any delay. I'll update u guys as soon as i get any.

I'm wondering if we can have it added afterwards. Regular shipping is ground shipping, 7 days. Which means it is possible you might not get the phone until after it hits stores if it ships towards the end of the window.
Like 23 right now compare that to 6 AT&T and 7 Verizon branded units. What exactly is the deal with T-Mobile?
maybe people who are stuck in twrp bootloop?

A good number of All but one of 'em are unopened/New,they probably bought 'em to take advantage of the $200 Rebate & headphone offers.
As long as they have a net gain from purchase price/rebate/sale price,I suppose it's a worthwhile endeavor.........

T-Mobile is basically giving these things away. If they used the trade in thing, it makes the phone either free or less than $200. They probably have another phone they are using and don't plan on leaving T-Mobile, so they just got one and are selling it. T-Mobile, effectively, puts you in a contract doing this. They take the price of the phone and give you bill credits for the whole term of the EIP. If you terminate service, you owe the phone. Combine that with the free line promotion they had a few days prior, I am guessing this is what is happening. The contract does not say anything about using the phone. As long as they keep their bill current and keep their service, it will be able to be used (I think...). I would be careful buying one of these V20s in case you are not allowed to use the phone on a line that isn't associated with the account, but that is me being a worry wort.

Swappa won't let you sell a phone that still has anything owed on it. They check the IMEI.
I assume the bill credits wouldn't affect this as long as the phone is free and clear.

Won't work. When they go to get the unlock code from T-Mobile the imei isn't in their system so they can't get it and it can't be done. Trust me. I've seen this happen on the v10 and g5. Just look it up.

If that's the case, I'd think the sellers would know better than to post a listing on Swappa.
Guess we'll find out soon enough how many of the listings are fraudulent.....

There not fraudulent. Not sure why u think that. Theres nothing wrong with selling lg partner purchase program phones. They just can't be carrier unlocked and the sellers don't go out of their way to tell you. They just say their not sure.

Full disclosure is a given when selling on Swappa, anything less would be fraudulent,if not to the letter of the rules,it certainly would be in spirit/practice.
This is some good information though, glad you brought it up. :good:
I'm betting a lot of folks have never heard of such a thing.
Yeah ur right. Lol I wast trying to buy a v10 and g5 earlier this year and ran into this situation. Very difficult to deal with. Most sellers selling them do t really understand them selves and they blame T-Mobile. It probly is T-Mobile fault since it's branded T-Mobile. Just want everyone to be aware they can't be unlocked, even a third party unlock service can't. Having it on ur account for 40 days doesnt matter either. It's a crappy situation lol

I'd heard of employee deals/mfg-partner phones/etc..,but,I didn't know about the SIM Unlocking issue.
Again, many THX for bringing this up,you've no doubt saved some people a lot of trouble. :highfive:
FWIW,here's Swappa's policy on clean ESN's:
https://swappa.com/faq/sell/share_esn_numbers
Bulletproof,no,but,it sounds as if they're doing their due dilligence w/researching the ESN/IMEI,perhaps w/more tools than the general public is armed with.
Some sharp individuals here on XDA/Swappa running the show,I'm guessing/hoping they have this scenario covered, enough to ensure the buyers are protected in a worse-case scenario.
A little bit off topic, can you get square trade insurance for phones purchased at swappa?

Um I'm not trying to be a pain but I bought my G5 from Tmobile and had it unlocked in 24 hours as I was traveling out of the country. I used the app on the phone and the code the rep gave me. I've traveled to 7 countries since then and used sim cards from each one no problem.

I decided to reach out to T-mobile and LG regarding my $200 rebate trade-in status. T-mobile gave me an lg email address to inquire about it. After 2 days of no response I called lg. lg informed me there is a problem with their rebate system. basically they do not have anyone's information and can not send out the rebate unless we call in and give them our information. it has been 2 days since i gave them my information and still no response. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.
that doesn't sound good at all. now we will wont get rebate or what.
I wonder what happens when we won't get rebate from promotion. Many of us bought the phone just because of the promotion
No problem with sprint received mine two weeks after purchase.

Just got off the phone with Tmobile They now said it is up to lg to send it out .After telling them the situation they agreed to credit my account. my advice is to all tmobile and make them aware of the situation and have them credit your account since they are the ones in possession of our trade in devices.

That was the point of my post. People are waiting on something that LG knows noting about. 1 LG rep admitted they messed up on their end and they have no record of anyone's trade in because the system they set up to handle the rebate functioned. Sprint is the only company that seems to have realized LG made a mistake and started handling it on their own.
No issues whatsoever here with Sprint. I upgraded in a Sprint store on 10/24/2016, and received the $200.00 credit on my account on 11/05/2016 (12 days later).

It may just be a tmobile issue. Our promo states an electronic check not a credit.

My last post stated people from sprint are getting the problem resolved through a credit. The original promotion was no supposed to be a credit on either carrier. So that is proof LG dropped the ball and the carriers will have to accept responsibility.

That's just patently false. The promotion was announced as a credit when Sprint officially announced they'd be carrying the phone on 10/07/2016 (see the 3rd paragraph and footnote 1). The promotion was then confirmed as a credit when Sprint officially announced the launch date of the phone on 10/21/2016 (see the 3rd paragraph and footnote 2).
EDIT: Footnote correction on second link.

That's a lie on that rep's part(maybe just misinformed), as it was even up on LG's own website prior to the V20's official launch date.
So ive been on the phone, LG says it At&ts deal, so now im on the att for like 40 minutes plus and i think it gonna be figured out. Ill edit if its not handled after the call.
I got to get on this I haven't received anything
Same here. T-Mobile I called weeks ago. They said 1-2 billing cycles for the credit to show up. Problem here is that I was never able to access the promotions page. It always said there were no promotions for my line. I had to do the trade in over the phone with a label the rep emailed to me.
They received that phone probably a month ago now and still nothing. I don't even have anything that shows I traded in a phone.
I would so rather have gotten a check than a credit. I had intended to use it towards my monthly lease payments. Now it will probably end up just coming off my bill and only after I call and "make" them do it.
I just signed up with Tmobile after being with Verizon for almost 16 years. I'd like to keep my Note 4 instead of trading it in. Is it possible to purchase a cheap verizon phone to trade in to tmobile get the $200 rebate?
