This g920w8 has black screen that happened after some update. I can get screen on when going to download mode and can finish the process but when the phone tries to turn on after updating apps it gets stuck on black screen with blinking blue led. Tried few stock roms but at no avail. Tried rooting it and installed TWRP, cleaned practically the whole system and reinstalled new one but the problem remains. Sometimes the phone gets stuck on starting apps after flash and the cogs are spinning but the phone never gets past that point.
Thanks

Ok. So 14 days ago my wife and I both got S6's for Verizon from a local big box store. (yes, 14. Today is the last day I have to take it back.)
We took the OTA to OE2 and I was able to root both phones with PingPong. Everything was fine until yesterday. Her phone wasn't responding when a call was coming in, so she restarted it by holding in the power button. Now, when it boots up it goes to a black screen after showing the initial "Samsung Galaxy S6" screen. Nothing changes. There is a teal/blue pulsing LED that doesn't go away.
I can enter the recovery and wipe cache, factory reset, safemode, etc. I've tried all of those many times. I can enter download mode and use Odin 3.10.6 to reflash OE2 and it says "Pass". After rebooting, it goes to the "Android is upgrading" dialog and goes through and updates about 248 apps, and then changes to read "Starting apps." It won't go past that screen. I left it on that from 10pm last night until 6am this morning with no change. The battery eventually went dead (from 100%). I've tried Odin many times, and it passes every time.
What are my options? When booting, the padlock is unlocked and says "Custom". I'd really like to get rid of that so I can return it to today without problems. When in Download mode, the system status says "custom".
Please help!!
I've also tried using SmartSwitch on the PC, and it doesn't detect the phone.
Update: I'm trying an Emergency Recovery with Smart Switch. It's at 52% right now. I got a serial number from another S6 so it would allow the download/recovery process to start. It's kind of ridiculous you can't get the serial number for your device from anywhere but the settings page on the phone. (Note: not the IMEI, the actual SN). It's not on the box or back of the phone.
Ok, another update. Emergency Recovery didn't work. It finished, and said that it was successful, but didn't fix the issue.
I took the phone back to the place of purchase and they tried about everything that I had already tried. They ended up just replacing the phone. They said that they never saw this issue before.
I have almost an identical issue except I have not roOted or installed any custom ROMs everything is stock . The fingerprint scanner quit working today and said it required a restart, when I restarted the phone I'm experiencing exactly what you are a black screen and a blue pulsing light. In the stock recovery screen I've tried booting to safe mode USB debugging everything except the factory restore yet I think that is my last resort.
Hi all, I just bought a Nexus 5 brand new from a local carrier in Cambodia about 2 weeks ago and so far have loved the phone. I had upgraded it to Android 6 as soon as I got it with OTA updates and have never modified it in any way, or even rooted it.
Just last night while I was browsing the Internet on it the phone suddenly froze for the first time and turned off. Once I tried to boot it back up, it went to the "Android" text logo and froze midway, once again turning off. Now, whenever I turn it on, it stays stuck at the Google logo.
I've tried booting to the "Start - Restart bootloader - Recovery mode" screen, which works fine, but once I try clicking on Recovery mode, it stays stuck at a black screen which doesn't seem to go anywhere.
Is this a hardware fault? Software problem? Any way I can try to fix this issue without going back to the carrier?
Could be hardware. I suggest taking it back and exchanging it for another phone.
This happened yesterday. I was on CM 13. Everything worked fine. But now, the phone kept rebooting whenever I ran an application. What's worse, it started hanging for 5 minutes and even the power button didn't respond, after which it heated and then rebooted.
I flashed the stock ROM 5.1 Asia retail and the phone said,"Starting apps 1/76" and when it reached 76/76, the phone rebooted. When I tried opening recovery, the phone showed a black screen and kept showing the bootlogo, going black, bootlogo, going black, and again.
I've tried installing other recoveries but the same thing happens.
Basically, the phone is dead.
The only thing that works is bootloader.
So from time to time, more so recently, my phone will sometimes boot up and then not fully finish booting. It works, but is very sluggish. The "Android is starting" animation shows and then disappears. My phone will then seem to have a UI crash. The notification light turns solid blue and it boots back to the ATT logo, then I have to insert my password again. I haven't modified anything on my phone, 100% stock.
One other thing, when all this is happening, apps installed to my EX-SD card are unavailable. Any thoughts?
Hello everyone,
So I bought this one Samsung Galaxy S7 off the flea market for 3€ and when I plugged it in, it showed no signs of life. Then I plugged it in to my powerbank and suddenly, it showed the battery and even the charging animation. I left it charging for a while and then booted it up. It showed the Setup screen as usual, except it had an FRP lock on it. After bypassing that, I got told that I should reset it through settings because the installation is broken or something. After that, all it did was show the Samsung Galaxy S7 screen, then showed the Samsung boot animation screen, after that it showed the "Optimizing apps" and after that the "Installing apps" screen and after that it went black and restarted. From that point on all it did was show the Galaxy S7 screen followed by the Samsung boot animation which sometimes got cut off. After that, I wiped the cache partition hoping that would fix the problem but it did not. After that, I reflashed stock ROM with Odin and it didn't fix the issue either. After that, I flashed TWRP and tried factory resetting it through TWRP because out of nowhere the stock recovery stopped working. It showed the blue screen and then got stuck. In TWRP, after trying to factory reset, it gave me a bunch of errors. (view the image) After that, it got stuck in TWRP and froze. I tried force shutting it off but after that, the notification LED stayed on and the screen stayed black. I left it as it was for a while until the LED shut off. Now, it wont show any signs of life and wont boot in to recovery or download mode. After plugging in the micro USB again, it showed the Samsung Galaxy S7 screen but doesnt go past it. I tried booting it in to download mode but it doesnt want to. Now the screen is completely black and it shows no signs of life at all.
