It will work with non Samsung phones. You'll be missing functionality with Samsung's apps like S-health, though.

Samsung Pay won't work either.

Will it work with the LG V20 ? I read in the forums that the S2 wasnt compatible. I use android pay so not really interested in Samsung pay or Shealth.. thanks ..

Should work, it's advertised that it will work on non galaxy phones. Even Samsung pay the first 5 times will supposedly work, after that it must be connected with a galaxy phone. As long as you don't care about Samsung specifics you should be fine. But I think in order for LTE to work it needs to be synced with a galaxy as well when it's first turned on. Someone with a gear s2 may be able to clarify that.

Are we sure about that?
On Samsung's website it says the Frontier LTE will be able to download apps independent of the phone. It seems like they should be able to make Samsung Pay work independently also.

It will work independently for the first 5 times, after that it must be paired to a galaxy via Bluetooth to work. That's what the website states.

It's just speculation, but there's hope.

Here's what it says if you don't want to click on the link:
"Make up to five payments on your Gear S3 without a Galaxy smartphone nearby after initial setup. Reload payment capability by connecting to a Galaxy smartphone via Bluetooth. Only compatible with select cards, carriers and Samsung devices; see the Samsung Pay Support page http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/samsung-pay#compatibility for compatibility information."

Here's what I've found (no update as of now):

But here's an article to get the gear manager installed without requiring jailbreaking but it looks like a few people are having problems getting it to work with the iPhone 7:

Okay...the Samsung USA site says Samsung Pay works on the S3 with NON Samsung devices, adding to the pile of confusion. This would be a killer feature if true.

GT-P6201 = GT-P6200? (Plus N vs. Plus)

Hi all
I have bought a GT-P6201 - a Samsung Galaxy Tab™ 7.0 Plus N (WiFi / 3G) 16GB and I have some questions:
1. Is this device the "same" (as far as I know only the speakers are different, but I´m not sure...) like the normal Samsung Galaxy Tab™ 7.0 Plus (WiFi / 3G), the GT-P6200?
2. If yes, can I use the custom ROM´s and ClockworkMod Recovery for the GT-P6200?
3. Are there any XDA users out there having the same device? So that we can share "our" experience, questions, problems and solutions?
Thanks.

1) Should be YES
2) There's not a REAL custom ROM for our P6200 I'm about to realize one as soon as I have enough free time. You should be able to flash CWM and Root your device without any issue
3) As I've seen 'till now you're the only one who own this version of Tab Plus, hope someone else can share your experiences
'Cuz of that, I'd like to ask you if you can share some photos of your device maybe in its differences (speakers)

I don't have an indepth german language knowledge, but when I see UMTS I guess that means 3G and not Wifi only !!!
We can find even cheaper but just to have an idea about the product and the specification (in german that time, but google translate should help) :
http://www.amazon.de/Samsung-Touchs...DA6U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335349342&sr=8-1
I'm thinking about buying one but I have 2 questions :
1) Is it possible to place a phone call with this Samsung Honeycomb just as with P1000 ??? ^^
2) What custom ROM can we expect to replace this Honeycomb ???
I really love my P1000, but if can have the same formfactor much lighter in the pocket, with dual core and 1 GB RAM with the same quality as with P1000, why not...
Anyone can compare the functionalities between Samsung Gingerbread and Samsung Honeycomb, specially for multimedia and bluetooth support ?
I already saw some missed with galaxy Tab 8.9" and 10.1" as multimedia and bluetooth were not as good as with GT P1000...

You are right, i made a mistake.
P6200 = P6201 3G
P6210 = P6211 WiFi
The P6201/P6211 is the German version. Samsung had to change the appearance because Apple complained that it look like the iPad.
To your questions:
1) Yes you can make phone calls on the P6200 3G version!
2) There is only CM9 as custom ROM, but it is in Development, because it has many bugs.
For me Honycomb is very smooth and stable and Samsung has confirmed that ICS will come to our Device soon. About bluetooth I can not say much because I haven't used it yet.
Stock videoplayer on the 6200 has pretty limited codec support - but with mx videoplayer or moboplayer, I haven't found anything it can't play - most using hardware acceleration aswell. I have the hdmi dock and output to a 50" hdtv and it's every bit as good as my archos - and that's saying something as archos are unbeatable for multimedia support.
As far as I can see, there are few differences to justify the massive price difference between the 7.0 and the 7.7 - slighty more powerful cpu and a little more screen real eastate but no IR blaster. I thought long and hard about which one, I reckon for the money the 7.0 plus 3G is the one to get, it's even really good as a phone, I thought I might make the odd call on it but have ended up using it more than my arc s
i`ve searching around but still don`t find where the custom rom link is...can anyone paste me some link of it..
my device is P6200DXKK5 for baseband version
and 2.6.36-P6200DXKL3-CL608366 [email protected] #3 for kernel version

[q] HDMI + USB Ports + charging in one dock (Galaxy Smart Dock)

Hey Folks!
I´m wondering if there is/will be something similar to the Samsung Galaxy Smart Dock for the Nexus 4 in near future. The Smart Dock (Multimedia Dockingstation
EDD-S20E) is just available for the S3 and the Note 2 and offers the user a Dock with 3 USB ports, an HDMI port and a speaker line out (while the device can be charged as well).
This seems to be quite a monster accessoire imao, as one really can use the device as a PC replacement (in some way ). As I´m still fighting with the decision to either buy a Note 2 or to wait for the Nexus, I would love to know if the Nexus will offer me such a "flexibility" as well!
Someone out there with more knowledge than myself?

If you want a super smooth and a well designed and neat UI, excellent build quality and have money to spare, go for the latest iPad.
If you want real value for money and the pure Android experience and the awesome option to develop your own software, go for Nexus(7 or 10).
If you are in between both the two, go for the latest Samsung Tablet.
And most of all, if you want to send songs or apps via Bluetooth or have a file explorer, go for any Android tablet.

Nexus 7 or Xperia Z
Hi all,
I bought the nexus 7 a week ago but i haven't been that happy with the device (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232569).
Im not sure I really need a tablet, and having another device to carry/charge is also a little annoying.
My iPhone 3GS is on the way out anyway- so i thought of returning my Nexus 7, and getting the Xperia Z instead.
Any comments on this? I do plan to read a lot on it (ereader). How is the xperia z to read on? Ok size?

NOTE III has built in ANT+ support! (Breaking News so to say:)

I believe this is an important fact, however for some reason, there was no mention of this in any of Samsung's stage intros, news reports, or even spec sheets and even any Note 3 reviews.
How can such a big company with an enormous marketing department fail so miserably.
Its is a far more useful feature that the infrared which is mentioned. Also in the current days its even way more practical than the smart-watch they made (which in all honesty has not real life practical use if you have a phone and a BT headset. And without a phone it cant even function on its own).
Anyway it is good (now confirmed) news, not matter the blunder, That Note 3 does in-fact support ANT+
http://www.thisisant.com/news/ant-has-been-integrated-in-samsung-galaxy-note-3
I personally only realized it when and end user reported it in a forum which I follow.
Why they (Samsung) should play this so lowkey I will never understand. I am almost certain that this is going to be news to a lot of the people who worked on the GN3. And its not even funny.
So many sports/fitness people can make good use of it.
It seems to be working on all versions of Note 3 (SD800 I was sure, but a used reported that his equinox also has ANT+). I have to confess that this later part still has me wondering, as it is know that the Snapdragon has had integrated ANT on its chips for a long time (its not something that Samsung added by itself, hence you have it on the Sony Z Ultra also and if rumors are right then the S4 will support it with the next firmware upgrade), but I never heard (till this day) of an equinox that did support this. Doesn't really make sense. You can do a search on google with SD/qualcomm and ANT and you will return positive results. Qualcomm is a part of the alliance. How ever if you do the same for equinoxx you wont find any thing, not a single thing!.
All in all I am very happy. As I dont have to trash my Wahoo speed and cadence sensor. Just to buy a BTLE version of this, to which the android support is still shady and continues to disconnect according to current users. Also very few apps have BTLE enabled for android (As they really waisted time getting here). I think officially so far, only Runtastic pro has in integrated.
However a lot of apps have ANT+ support, as that has been with android since the (Sony Xperia pioneered) 2011 days. If you have problems connecting your ANT device to Note 3, then try this universal connection manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iforpowell.android.ipantman it works with any ANT sports app, not just the developers own. Also lets multiple apps use data from the same ANT device. Basically a must have!
There are very many sensors to choose from, all now compatible with the GN3: http://www.thisisant.com/directory you can filter at the side.
A little background on ANT (as I can see from the replies, that a lot of people are like "ok, but what is ANT?"):
For those that are new to this. ANT+ is a wireless protocol that is similar to Bluetooth, actually more like Bluetooth LE. It is usually found on sport monitors/sensors like a heart rate sensor and is used mostly to transfer information to a reviver/logger, like a "bike computer" (things like speed, cadence, power, pulse, etc).
ANT+ has a wide list of compatible equipment (as its older than BTLE). Formally you needed to buy an expensive receiver/computer (like Garmin) for $400. Now you can use your phone to do this for free and even do it better (as the phones can do much more and has many options for apps/customization.). Also you can simultaneously navigate a map, take calls, listen to music, etc. All-in-one.
See these for any example of ANT+ compatible Android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.strava or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.endomondo.android both of which, as you can see are very popular. Most of this really became popular with the Sony Xperia Active, which is water, dust and damage proof, so people didn't mind mounting it on their bikes.
Basically you dont need ant to use these apps. The built in GPS on these phone can do wonders (tell you speed, elevation, position). But if you want even more detail and also you wan these details to be more precise, then that is where these sensors come into play.
Ok. Now I know some people might have the feeling, that they have been "living under a cave". Don't feel bad. I too didn't know anything about all this about a year ago. That was when I dusted off my bike in the cellar. As I was getting too fat

So weird: If you do a search for Note 3 and ANT+ on google then all you get is the Sept 5th report from thisisant.com site that I linked and few tech news channels that echoed it the same day or the next. That is all.
So you have Qualcomm then, right? That confirms my supervision.

I am sorry if this has been mentioned, but I cant find any tread referring to it.
I believe this is an important fact, how ever for some reason, there was no mention of this in any of Samsung's stage intros, news reports. If I am correct samsung even forgot to mention it on the spec sheets.
I also read most reviews out there about the Note III and none of then mentioned anything about it.
http://www.thisisant.com/news/ant-has-been-integrated-in-samsung-galaxy-note-3
I personally only realized it when and end user reported it in a forum which I follow, that he revived his Note 3 and it paired with his ANT+ device.
Why should the play this on low-key, it a more important feature that a lot of other things that are published.
So many sports/fitness people can make good use of it.
I suspect that it might be limited to one version only, that is either Exynos or Qualcomm. Still looking for specifics, maybe someone can shed some light on this.
(I think Qualcomm is the winner here too?? as those have had this feature in Sony Ericsson Xperia and Motorola in the past)
All in all I am very happy. As I dont have to trash my Wahoo speed and cadence sensor. Just to by a BTLE version of which the android support is still shady and continues to disconnect according to current users. Also very few apps have BT LE enadled for android (As they really waisted time getting here). I think officially so far only Runtastic pro has in integrated. However a lot of apps have ANT+ support, as that has been with android since the Sony Xperia 2011 days.

Well you've just educated me on a feature that I love but had no idea what it was..
I downloaded an update for the ant+ software just last night..
Now excuse me while I go off to find and ant+ compatible heart rate monitor to pair with my UK N9005..

I think all version of the N3 have ant. My Garmin HR monitor works with the ant app. And my N3

You have N9000? OR you read it somewhere?
I never saw anything indicate that Exynos eve had/has ANT support.
thanks this is really good news for me.. I just want some more information as to which version has the ant+ support. I just sold my wahoo rflkt and bluesc. I replaced it with a garmin edge 500 and was thinking about getting the footpod for running so this will be great if I don't need a key. This was one of the biggest problems for me switching to android that I had to switch out all my sensors because they aren't supported yet.
I emailed them via thisisant page asking which variants had ant and they said all variants. This was a week ago. I have N900T.

That is exactly the story of my life. I had to buy a stupid OTG cable and mini USB ant dongle. All which made it impossible to put the note in the mount that I had.
Also heart rate monitor is normal bluetooth which only lasted 4 weeks (Ant would last 6 months).
So far it seems that N9005 is 100% confirmed. Also this is what makes sense (looking at the chip manufacturer).
I am yet to see any info on N9000.
EDIT: Randpost (post above this one) got an email from THISISANT clamming that all versions support ANT+. This would even better news if its true. Lets hope we see more confirmation.

Sorry Willcor, but you have some stuff mixed up.
Polar doesn't have anything that is ANT+ compatible. The have either Bluetooth or thier own "WIND" system.
Anything that has ANT+ written on it and is a sensor of some sort should be compatible with Note III.
Here is a comprehensive list of ANT+ sensors. Just fillter at the side, for what you want (eg cycling).

ANT+ is in this way different from BT. If you have say Endomondo app or Strava (or many other) apps from appstore then no mater what ANT HRM you use, it will work. ITs not connecting directly to the app, but rather to the ANT service on android which is universal.
Ray Maker of DC Rainmaker on Twitter reports ANT+ is coming to the Samsung Galaxy S4 through an October Firmware update and will be supported on all flagship devices going into the future
dcrainmakerblog
"We will support ANT+ in the Galaxy S4 in a firmware update coming in October" - Samsung (at the ANT+ Symposium)

"We do plan to support ANT+ on all of our flagship smartphone devices in the future" - Samsung (at the ANT+ Symposium)
Hell, got full set of ANT+ device and bougut a BTLE HR for note3... complete fail
And the saddest part for you wm2001 is that BTLE support is still veru buggy (no reconnect after disconnect) and most of the sports app dont yet support it. I think so far only runtastic and ipbike.

BTW I say again, the fail is on Samsungs part. I still can't get my head around it how such an omission can happen with all the marketing personal that they have.

Still on its way to deliver to me. My questions is, is the ANT support any better than BTLE?

Since the ANT Radio Service is unified across all phones with ANT including the Sony Xperia line I'd say there's a decent number of good reviews on it so far, but let's see what the Note 3 people say for awhile.

thanks, but you misread my post !!
( so i guess you have got it mixed up...!! not me..!!)
.That is what i was implying... polar, is not compatible( either ant+ or otherwise) and now i must fork out 100 dollars for compatible strap (ant+.....whatever make and monitor ! to work with S health app )
anyway, thank you for your reply.!!
Sorry if you got confused, with my cryptic post,...!!
Anyone try this with the n3 yet? If so how does it work? I'm thinking about getting a watch with a heart rate monitor and maybe some other features.

Gear 2 and Android wear? Lets Speculate!

Stories are floating around about Samsung's involvement with Google's Wear project. Also there are stories of Samsung having a Google Wear device. Anyways If the reason Samsung pushed their Tizen OS to the Gear 2 was to improve performance and battery performance. It begs the question to me if Google Wear becomes a reliable OS that Samsung might eventually push Google Wear over to its Gear 2 like it did with the Galaxy Gear and Tizen. This of course is pure speculation by me. I think it has a slim chance of happening but it it does that could be interesting since next week i receive my Gear 2. If not official i could definitely see the community porting Wear 2 the Gear 2 in the next year or so. I mean we are all aware that the Gear 1 ran on android so its not like the architecture is completely different. In fact they use the same CPU.
Lets all speculate together below XD.
Actually it's very possible for samsung to simply update the Google Wear OS and use it as a Major Update on the Gear 2
Like what they did on the Gear 1 which can use tizen

Yes well I mean to me it would make since in a stand point of wanting to get previous consumers better ready for a Google Wear Samsung watch that may come out possibly in the coming future. Who knows.
I'll be pretty mad if they come out with an Android Wear watch after I just bought this Gear 2. In fact, i'll sell the Gear.
I don't see Sammy abandoning Tizen after they have spent so much money on developing it and trying to release phones with the OS on it. I think they will have a watch for Android ware but i don't think it will be more then what gear and gear 2 is. It will be more like the gear fit and I could see them porting AW to gear fit.

If they did that, it would need the mic and speaker to support Android Wear - which is the reason I went with the Neo originally instead of the Fit, it didn't have the mic. That would actually be pretty awesome if they did that as I could get one for my wife as she liked the Fit's style and form factor but not the fact that they gimped it by taking out the mic and speaker.
Well i feel that Tizen on the gear2 was more of a porting and custom optimization move on their part. Its like hey since we already have all the resources for our new OS lets tweak it for the gear so it can turn a few more heads until we decide what wear might be like in the consumer environment. You have to understand that the original Gear was under alot of bad reviews for battery life. From a business stand point it might just be more cost efficient and smarter to port what you built in house and wait for the best alternative to surface. Especially if your a close partner to a OS that your working maybe months or years before it was announced.
I think samsung. Although a very intelligent design and coding company. Are trying to dig and to fill to many holes. I personally think they should have kept android for the gear and tizen for the cameras. Leaving the tv blue ray etc on standard linux . They would have sold a lot more gear 2 on the android os. And with the development community feedback would have eventually have mastered the battery drain and glitches. I mean i have a gear 1 and 2. And with undervolting on the gear 1 with the null custom rom . It makes my gear 2 like antique
Anyone agree

Even of they don't release wear for the gear. The highly skilled developers here on xda. Would soon make it happen. Look at sense. Ported to a samsung device. Took a while. Trial error and user feedback. But it happened.
Patience and determination a phrase I like to use. Anythings possible
I don't believe that samsung will stick to Tizen... Although is a good OS, no others brand will use it and I think samsung will keep his "apple policy" and galaxy gear will never connect to non samsung phones out of the factory!
I think that unhappily will happen to tizen the same that happen to BADA OS... It borned fated to die!
I just boght that too... pretty mad

There is no reason to be mad! You just bought the best smart watch that exist! I doubt that we will see a lot of android wear watches with the capability of taking photos and use as a phone to make calls!
And it is amazing beautiful!!! I saw two colleagues who has one and they bought a silver wrist and it looks even more amazing!

Well, i guess i was wrong. Anyone see the home key on the side like the original gear had? I wonder if they are going to abandon Tizen now.... the also means less dev will work on apps for tizen now as well.
Yeah screw gear live it's looks like an gear neo just running android wear. I'm sorry but I like my camera on my gear 2 and android wear don't impress me.in time we will see now if they update gear 2 to android wear and it supports the camera fine but to buy a whole new watch samsung is smart.

I actually really prefer the look of my Gear 2 Neo to the Gear Live. Not a fan of that shiny bezel. Hopefully we can get Android Wear on the Gear 2 soon!
I really don't like the look of the ui in android wear to be honest with you all
