Just saw the news about it on CNBC ... is that mean they are not gonna ship Note 7 anymore for us still waiting?

Be great to make and sign a petition making samsung give us 1st dibs on the next product that comes out if we still wanna stay as a Samsung user. I know that's just a pipe dream but I feel Samsung is going to lose a lot of business from here on out over all this bad battery issue. I do feel that for the money the performance could ha enough been better. I mean coming from the Note 3 its a big jump yes in some areas but feel it should have been a bit more. Expecially when I hear the s7 has a bigger battery, same processor, cam etc. .

To the general public consumers this is gonna hurt samsung image. Apple is gonna have a field day with this mess. Samsung took the cheap route fixing the issue and now it's gonna bite them in the ass . Hopefully prices drop for all there devices. I would power the phone down every night when i had it. I got a full refund and went back to my note 5. Hopefully people be smart and exchange the device or get a refund don't wanna see anyone die from a fire over a phone issuse that they could avoid. I love the phone but it's not worth it.

I dont know what to do either. No other phone out right now that I truly love and this Note 7 has exceeded my expectations in certain areas. Ridiculously enough I am considering simply keeping mine but I do not like to think it may be dangerous. Will check out the HTC 10 and maybe exchange. If I decided to keep it does anyone think Sprint/Samsung will attempt to FORCE me somehow to return it? I'm still using the original note 7 and got it the 3rd or 4th day after they first came out and have had zero issues. Use it throughout the day. I never leave the room if its charging just as a precaution. It would be helpful to know how long the people were using their phones before the batteries exploded and also what their usage patterns were.

I got mine the day before they announced the recall and quit selling them. And I've been considering keeping mine too. The only time I ever felt it get warm was when I used another charger than what came with it. I don't play games on it or run any weird software either. I bet if you `have even half a brain this is a non issue. Mine took the update by itself last week too so root is off the table now and I doubt too many dev's are going to waste much time on this one now since samsung is trying to kill it. What I'm thinking is I need root and a custom rom without the nag screen and my battery capacity returned and just ignore this recall crap.
I should have rooted it when I had the chance... That's what I get.

That's the unusual part. There was no pattern. From what I read, this affected heavy and light users. Also, some of the phones were charging, some were not and some were in pockets. There were at least 2 cases of phones being in pockets and the men got 3rd degree burns. I highly recommend everyone exchanging the phone.

It gets even worse if true.......

Mine is rooted, wifi tether installed, and all customized already. This REALLY SUCKS! After watching videos of the note catching fire and doing some more research I have concluded I really don't feel safe with it. Apparently it happens randomly no matter how long you've had the phone. Sigh.

I just doubt my odds of having a bad note 7 are that good, i think i have a better chance of hitting the lottery in some cases

Don't risk it folks ,the phone just is not safe there all defected . If you keep it please don't get on a plane just my luck one of you would be on the same plane as me with that fire stick. They won't be doing refunds forever. The s7 edge is not bad at all.

They can't force you to do anything - but they'll also be completely off the hook if your house burns down with your family inside, etc

I will probably take my chances.. think i have higher chances of my gf burning house down when she cooks

I would keep mine as well but since it will be discontinued, i dont think updates will be coming out. As well as development here. Devs will probably jump to a new device

G2x?

Hey everyone I am new to this forum and man it has alot of good infos. I have a nexus one and now planning to get a new phone and g2x caught my attention as i saw alot of them going for cheap on craigslist. I was wondering how G2x is in terms of reliabilty? I did come across alot of people complaining about the phone rebooting itself and some other issues. So i was just curious if it would be a better upgrade to a nexus one Thanks
After installing Custom ROMS and Kernels, the G2x is sweet.
but its six of one, half a dozen of the other...
Doing so will technically void the warranty on your new phone (if used, pffffsssshhhtt...install to your hearts content). But doing so will also make it run so awesome, youd prolly never need to file warranty claim.
Also when done right, it is fully reversible back to "stock" should you need to send it in.
Thanks to xda members and staff, the tool set for flashing the g2x is solid, well documented, and damn near full proof against permanent bricking.

Nice thats what I was hoping for. I want to get an used one so I guess using the custom roms should be ok for me. Will look around the market a little more for some and look around here for more infos on roms and stuff as I am fairly new here .
i picked up a 2nd very clean (like new) g2x off ebay for 180. With all the new devices rolling out, last years models are going cheaper. also keep in mind, TMO is having huge sale the 11th
http://bit.ly/A5eQDW
Everything "free", if you sign new or re-up contract, and do MIR. TMO will often offer the g2x free as a web only deal. keep checking if you want new.
Wow you got a deal on ebay, they usually go higher than that. Yea I checked those phones looks like they are giving the g2x for free too. I was thinking about getting one for free and get a two year contract but they told me that I got to get a new plan for that too which kind of sucks. Right now paying 79$ for 1500 mins unlimited text+10$ web2go(1 line) for 4 lines which I think is an ok deal hate to see this one go. I am out of contract too.
G2x great phone. Craigslist problems. Too many post from people purchasing from Cragslist and the phone not working or being blacklisted. You should do face time with seller and phone before making payment.
Or just buy a nexus s on Craigslist, way better imho, specially coming from n1

They're blacklisted when reported stolen. I would put your SIM card in the phone and make a phone call, send an SMS, and test data before you buy it.

ive had both and i can tell you that the nexus s is way better, just look at all the posts in there respective forums and that should tell you right away, look at all the g2x owners who say "nvidea never again" plus custom/roms/options/and the fact they EOL'd the g2x...nuff said...you own a nexus one so it should be a no brainer to stay with the nexus line...

Thinking of jumping ship....

Idk... I'm thinking of jumping ship in another 2 weeks.
Gonna jump from my G2X to a Sensation.. Idk... Maybe :|

I've been thinking about this for a while now. I'm keeping my g2x until the new nexus phones come out, and then sticking to pure nexus phones from Google. I'm sick of waiting for venders and carriers to work together for releases, and I'm sick of crap that carriers add to phones which is useless and slows them down. I normally root my phone and install CM on it anyway, but with the g2x even that isn't a 100% working solution anymore.
By the way, I read that Google is releasing up to 5 different nexus phones from different vendors around Thanksgiving this year. I'd wait for that!

No, in fact if you search up my previous post, my G2X, is one of the few that has zero flaws.
I'm jumping ship because the Sensation has more Dev support. (Really a lot of dev) They recently got official CM9.

I'm almost positive this was towards me, and well... ok. Maybe if people actually searched or didn't make retarded threads I wouldn't be, I help when help is needed (as in if someone searches and posts in an already created thread like these ones.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449382
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342085
I searched for 10 seconds and found both of these. It's pointless to make a thread like this, especially with the OP's statement, does he want a cookie for wanting a sensation? Lastly OP my interest is not to stock what you have said in other threads, if you make a new thread make it worthwhile to read for the community, not something useless and informative.
Hey XDA I just had Chipotle, and added way too much Cholula to it.
If you're gonna jump ship, just do it.
The community for the G2x has been flawless, but I have seen the future, and I left it for the GS II. Man, they're a live one over there. Everyone's awesome and welcoming; a bit impatient at times when they ask for ROM updates (lol smh), but generally nice people.
Now all the devs here are a capable bunch, and they've managed to do what LG/T-Mobile/Nvidia couldn't do. I've said this time and time again. But without those 3 giving this phone even half of the effort, we suffer ultimately. In Driver support, Camera support, ICS support, annoying bugs going unfixed. The devs have to pick up all the slack, and that sucks. I left because of the circumstances that those 3 have put us in, and I'd say it's a fair assessment.
But if you're gonna jump ship, I suggest you don't do it for whoever gets ICS first. There's no way I would have gone to the Sensation, too many hoops to jump through, S-OFF, bootloader, etc. That phone's pretty thick too, not enough internal memory either (Nice camera though). Jump when you decide your time here has come to an end, when you have felt like you can enjoy this phone no longer, or if you feel you just need an upgrade/better spec'd phone. I believe those are valid reasons, as well as explanations that don't tick off the rest of the community. x) Cheers on your future smartphone endeavors!
ya i was on the same boat when the phone came out but meh there is a lot of things that i love about this brick lol but mind you the galaxy S3 is coming out so i might go out and buy one of those this summer
Just jump already
It all depends on what you want the phone to do for you... and what you are willing to do for the phone!

previously owned the sensation and I believe that the g2x is way smoother and feels better in the hands, though the dev community over there is rocking
Really? G2X feels better in the hand? I got to try it out at the store, been looking to get my hands on a sensation off craigslist for a good price, probably trade for my GS2.
I'm sentimental with my devices, also, have lots of back NANDROIDS of the G2X and need to get my data out of them before selling it. Actually thats the only reason I still hang on to my G2X. Too lazy to move my stuff out of it. I can, just don't feel like it.

Board bent

I broke my N5 and the screen was shattered.
I read on the Google forums that if you send it to LG they will fix it (for a fee).
I sent it in.
LG sent it back without calling me as they said they would.
The placed a written note in the package stating that the board is bent.
The phone turns on and boots, but the screen is cracked and the touch capabilities do not work.
Any advice? Should I try to fix it myself? Has anyone had a similar experience?
I'm kind of disappointed in LG's customer service. Especially, since the same week, my wife's micro USB jack in her Moto X wasn't charging all the time and they let her get a brand new phone.

Yes, you are correct. They're different things. However, LG said they would call me about the phone l; they didn't. I was told they'd fix it; they didn't. I just received my phone back after having paid to so it to them. On the other hand, Motorola let my wife design a new wood Moto X without verifying the issue, sent her the new phone (before we sent them the old one), and paid for us to ship the old one back to them. Most Maybe I sold have clarified that more. It was the level of customer service. I will definitely think twice before buying another LG product (which sucks b/c they make cool phones). My experience with Motorola has been very positive:silly:, but I'll wait to see what happens with the Lenovo purchase.

LG to me seems like a crap OEM just saying my personal experience with all their electronics have been bad our TV for example has a couple dead spots or sometimes stuck green pixels
and if you do a quick google search for Nexus mic issue you can see results for the LG Nexus 4 and the LG Nexus 5
Nothing else Google is sayin Bye bye to LG and moving on to MotoLenovo

I wish they would move on, but they won't IMO. LG is the only one that can make the phones so cheap. Even though their service center is in the US, it's so bad that you should just hope that your phone doesn't have any problems. At least Google's service is excellent though.

Sorry to hear about your cat. Is it still under warranty?:silly:
How much did you pay LG to carry out a repair? - Did they do anything to the device except put a note in the box and return it?
A sent board may have prevented closig the device properly after a new screen was in pace or that one or more of the integrated circuits might have been damaged as well as the screen. They may have felt the cost to repair the screen and replace the board would cost as much as a new phone.
Plz tell me what sort of force will a drop do to bend the mobo? was it behind your back pocket? /facepalm

Presto LG G Flex
For all you know the tech at LG might have bent the board accidentally while trying to replace the screen. Just saying.

Ok gotcha.
Yeah they definitely should have quoted you for repair rather than return it untouched.
3rd party is your best bet now

I only paid shipping to get it there. No, they didn't do anything to the device other then ship it back with a note. The frustrating part was I called LG the day before I shipped it and they said they would call me to give me a repair quote and explain what was wrong with the phone. Instead, I received the phone back about a week and a half to two weeks later without being notified. When I called again, the customer service person was annoyed at my questioning about why it would be sent back without a call, at minimum, explaining what the damage was.

LG's service is still horrible horrible

At&t flex2 h950

Just picked up the flex2 from at&t at lunch today. So far its been performing great, at least when comparing to my nexus 5 on 5.1. Did not experience any lag so far like some early reviews suggest. Not sure if the 3gb ram helps here. Will report more on battery later.
Same. Battery life is my only concern. I feel like I won't be able to make it through the day anymore. It's 11:30am (I've been up 3 hours), and I'm at 62%. It's exactly what I predicted would happen in my post a few months ago (Link).
But as far as performance, this thing is rocking.

I understand a lot of the newer phones aren't showing up on AnTuTu yet, so I don't know the comparison with the M9, Z4, S6, G4, or P8M.
Mine is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I have a few things for you guys to check out. 1) any screen ghosting like on the first gen g flex. 2) is there any carrier I.q.?

Screen ghosting: No, burnt images no longer show up like they did on the first gen.
Carrier IQ: This is new to me, however, in the list of packages there is a "LADDM 5.0.1-H95010d". I also just did some research on it. I download 3C Toolbox and it definitely has carrieriq.
No ghosting at all. And the performance has been superb. One thing I noticed though is the screen brightness range being quite limited. Its not bright enough under sunlight and not dim enough at night. Screen in most lighting condition is great and vivid though with some noticeable grainy areas. And smart screen feature is not included (the phone stays awake as the front camera detects your face). Not a deal breaker but nice to have feature.
Battery life is great for me. I started my day at 7am and ended up 65% coming home at 6pm with 1.5hr screen on time. I am a light user with occasional YouTube and play music stream, and some email checking web browsing. Connected to my moto360 all the time. No GPS no Wi-Fi just lte. I know the battery life depends much on personal usage, and for me it is great and I'm going to keep my phone (was thinking about switching to the s6 edge).
One big plus is the quick charge 2.0. Boy it does charge fast, and I think it's the one feature I can't live without moving forward.
That's good to hear. Mine should be delivered in about 12 hours from now and I am sending my nexus 6 back. I am on my 4th warranty replacement , seems moto does not do a very good job refurbishing phones. Looking forward to getting back to lg.

US Default Applications AT&T H950
Is it at all possible for someone in this thread to help me in discovering which app I have deleted on accident with the AT&T Variant H950. I am unsure as to exactly why I have no data any longer but I'm sure it is because I have deleted a specific app that is needed in order to access the ATT Data as well as do any kind of call forwarding as well. Perhaps someone here in the thread can post a list of their exact applications so I can find out exactly what it is that I am missing. I have called AT&T about the issue and they are currently investigating the matters but If it is something I can figure out without help I would be much happier without the 90 minutes of wait time. Thank YOU!!
Re: H950 stock Firmware
I have searched the threads here and can't seem to find the ATT H950 firmware files anywhere. Does anyone have a link to the files needed to go back to stock?
There is none available at this time.

Craigslist Note 5-- Spengate victim

Picked up a T-mo note 5 on CL. Looked great; all features I could think to test were good. IMEI# check out as good mostly., I just didn't think to test the spen detection in the holder. It's broke. Dumbass must have inserted the pen backwards and yanked it out
Anyways I picked up all the tools I need to safely open the note 5 and see what I can do with the broken sensor; figured I'd keep this thread updated with my progress on fixing.

I wouldn't try a store, I would wait a week until tmo updates their system and sees that's the phone you hit and then call 611 and tell them the problem with NO mention of where you got the phone unless they ask and even then you can just say it was a present or something.
They don't like it when you don't buy phone off them and use Craigslist instead.
Like ThC23 recommended, I called 611 and they asked me when I bought the device, and I just said "IDK it was a gift." they asked me when the problem started and I said "IDK, it just never worked"
Tmo connected me to Samsung and they gave me an RMA number. I'm sending them my note 5.
Thanks for all your help guys. It's kinda a pitty though, I was looking fwd to taking it apart a bit lol.
Glad I didn't put my Note 4 on sale just yet. Looks like I'll be using it again for a few days.
So samsung didn't do anything to fix it, and they are just mailing it back to me. Looks like the A-hole who sold it to me lied (surprise surprise) the IMEI number has been changed, so samsung won't replace it.
So I'll be going back with my original plan of trying to fix it myself. I wish I could find that broken plastic lever that must have broken, online. but who knows. Maybe it's not working for another reason. There is at least one video where the guy takes Note 5 apart and shows us where it broke, but it just happens to work when he puts it back together, even though he didn't rly do anything to it besides remove the broken of bit off plastic that was preventing the sensor from moving.
As sad as this is, it just reminds us that buying off CL is not always a good idea. I feel for you. ?

My friend bought an S6 for $500 on CL. Seller reported it as stolen, IMEI was blacklisted. She had to pay $70 for a new IMEI.

I used to sell on Craigslist, but I wouldn't do anything unless it was in place that had a police substation.

Yea you can't take that to a T-mobile store ...you may have to contact Samsung. ..they won't entertain a phone not purchased at a store or online through T-mobile

Any progress buddy ?
yeah it's still taken apart cause my soldering iron is not meant for these tiny tiny components, but I have not given up. I actually got the spen detection working for a few minutes and it quit working, so I'm on the right track I just need to get better at the soldering. maybe I should stop by radio shack.
as for that plug I broke, i don't know what it does. I did a half assed soldering job and I got the note 5 back together to see what is not working and all I see is the lights on the front buttons don't light up. If that's all that that blue cable does I might not care...
does anyone know what this blue cable does?
https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/wMyYTEoFThUUNkHD.huge
it's on the bottom right of the image
Update: Spen detection sensor fixed!! hopefully it stays fixed this time.
Now I want to get that blue cable figured out. I suppose I could just quit and not have my front buttons light up. not much of a loss there.
--looks like its the gps cable.
-- no def not the GPS cable. GPS works fine.
-- finger print sensor gives an error. I bet it's just power going to the front buttons. weird thing is the lights on the buttons flickers with a vibration once when the phone boots up/.
