Im using a galaxy gear 2 with my nexus 4. Friday i will get my new phone, the note 4.
Can someone who allready has both devices told me if all functions off the gear and the gear manager will be supported on the note 4?
I have both and I set mine up last night. Seems to work just fine. I downloaded Gear Manager and I am getting alerts, etc. No issues I have found yet.

Thank you! Whats with s voice and s health etc..? On my nexus with hacked gearmanager. Its not possible to get weather information or the s voice.
You will get all of the functionality with this combo. N4 with gear 2
No problems with mine. My note is also rooted on stock rom.

No problems with either for me.
I recently bought a Samsung Gear S2 classic.
It connects to iPhone via bluetooth without any app, so here is my experience:
- Notifications work, (the ones from the notification center), however you cannot act on them, it is just a notification viewer. You can read the message that comes or e-mail or FB message, however you cannot answer them.
- No access to any other apps/watch faces beside the stock ones that are on the watch already
- Wifi network connection is limited to open networks only :/ (secured networks are not visible, why?) however range of the wifi signal sensitivity is awesome (I pick up a printer Wifi signal of my neighbour 3 floors up)
- Battery : At 8h I still have 50% (moderate use, loads of notifications, Wifi off, HR sensor frequent, Brightness 8, Ambient on)
- World clock is totally off, I mean the times are not right. I don't know why.
I read rumours that iOS appstore will get a Gear app by the end of this year, so support is on the way
I am an Apple fan (iphone, ipad, imac, macbook and so on) and I have to say... Gear S2 is going to rock the smartwatch boat a looooot!
The quality you get for the money is just amazing.

Hi I have an iphone, and the gear s2 3g pairs to it, but I don't see any notifications coming through (not sure how that would work, because I haven't selected which notifications I would want to send to the watch the way i do on my android phone (Note 4)). Are there any settings you had to change to enable this functionality?

Notifications that are in the notification center are working and they get through to the watch.
There is no app yet, I just connected it via bluetooth.
After reset, the secured WiFi networks are discoverable (some of them at least).
Overall, after 1 day of usage, I got 15h of battery. Now I am testing the battery with no HR sensor and Brightness 5.
I will post results soon!
I have a samsung phone that my gear s2 is connected to. I also have an iPhone for work. Do you think I could connect both phones at the same time? Lol.... I just got the watch and it is charging, so I can't try it.

I'm affraid that isn't possible, since gear s2 only connected to ios when they do a reset (never pair and update with galaxy appmanager on android).
What about the gear app manager for iOS ? Still working on it?

I think gear app manager still on progress, rumours say that will be available on early 2016, can't wait this to happen LoL.

The latest firmware update renders gear s2 unusable with iPhones.
After the update the gear s2 is not visible in the bluetooth devices on the iPhone ;|

Thats a good info for me, i just considering to update my firmware, because i'm experiencing always on mode is not always on, sometimes its totally turn off the display, i think that's because the firmware, but then i do a research on this forum, thats a common problem
Just unpacked my amazon-delivered gear s2.
As an iphone 6 owner I'm very happy that it does communicate with the phone,though indeed only readable notifications.
Hope the app arrives soon.

So i have both android and iphone. I was trying to get the android experience with gear s2, i tried to update the latest firmware.
After that, i switch back to my iphone which i prefer to use. The result is i can't detect the gear S2 on my bluetooth.
So... Don't try to update the firmware yet. It really sad :crying:

which Iphone do you use? and exactly your gear s2 version also. I'm update in gear s2 R730 is normal.
I can confirm this, as soon as I paired it with my android device, the S2 is unusable with Iphone...well after I used Gear Manager to update it.
Firmware update is fine, you just have to not activate it through the Manager on an Android device otherwise it's gone.

Yuo i think, it's because the gear s2 is paired with android devices, if you want to connect to your iphone again, you have to do a reset factory from gear s2, is that correct?

I'm afraid not. I bought the watch yesterday and was not warned that iphone users cannot update the software yet. I did a factory reset but my iphone 6 still couldn't detect the watch as it could before the update. ):

I have the same problem. I am using Iphone 6. I used the gear manager on my other phone (android) to update the gear s2 to the newest software version R732XXUU2BOKK. Hope this is helpful.

Factory reset doesn't do anything unfortunately. So mke sure u do not connect the watch using Samsung Manager on any android phone.
Using the watch to update firmware seems to be fine (using the built in wifi).

I see, so the key is, do not upgrade firmware via android gear manager apps, or you'll never get paired to the iphone anymore
But i'm doing the upgrade OTA via the device itself, and there's no update available..it says my device already have the newest firmware version, or maybe samsung OTA update has some kind of country limitation? since I'm in Indonesia?

I have Gear S3 Frontier & S7 Edge. My S3 is working great with exception of Samsung Pay. Actually, I don't even know where it is because it does not show up either on my S3 or Samsung Gear App. I tried many times opening the Gear App and select tab Settings and where Samsung Pay should be there is only the S Health tab and Samsung Galaxy App tab. Please help i have updated both softwares and even tried uninstalling and installing to negative results.

Yes, you can use the wall charger that comes with the S7E. I even use it for headphones & other electronics and is ok. The fast charging function will work only with the devices that have this function. In rest, the charger will be a normal (very good) charger.
What about hangout and whatsapp?
Hi, I couldn't find anywhere such an info. This could be a potential reason for me not to buy this watch.
Is it possibile to directly start an hangout chat or a whatsapp chat directly from the watch? I mean can I only answer to a recieved hangout or whatsapp message I guess, but can I even send a new message directly from the watch?
I own a Huawei Watch and, at least for Google hangout, I can start a new chat directly from the smartwatch.

Exactly what does "limited capability" (from Samsung's web site) for calls, messaging, email, wifi sync mean? I have a Gear S3 with a Samsung S7 Edge, but am trying to convince a friend who has an LG V20 what a great watch this is... thanks for any info!

Well if you have the LTE version of Gear, you can make phone calls from the watch without a phone at all.

As long as your connected via Bluetooth to your phone, then yes it works just fine. I use mine with an LG G5 and it works fine.

What dialer/ phone app are you using? I'm able to receive calls on the watch but only the answer/ decline option, not the answer directly from the gear (talk through the gear)

Well I just tested the calling options:
With bluetooth on and connected to my LG G5, it dials it from my phone but uses the watch's speaker and mic.
With bluetooth off and connected via the watch's sim, I can make and receive calls using only the watch.
I am using the default dialer on both the watch and the phone. Hope that helps...
Have you tried it with a bluetooth headset on a phone not Samsung? I and many others have serious problems because the bluetooth headset disables the Bluetooth "call profile" of Gear !!!
So the use of gear excludes the use of bluetooth headphones including the car handsfree !!!

I have V20 and I receive texts as notifications only. They donot store or sync into the messages app. So no conversation stays on device for reply too. Only chance to reply is when viewing original notification. A new message can be sent via messages though. My biggest complaint.

This was my experience as well with my Moto Z. The messages app was gone after pairing to the Moto. At least on my S3 Frontier LTE, the text messages are a little finicky (delays in showing up, no notifications at all) so this was a deal breaker for me. I switched back to my Note 4.
looks to work well with some phones, but seems not for all of rooted roms :'(
and on my oneplus2 (stock rom) can't find the Gear S app !! (just the Samsung accessory and Gear S Plugin)....

Odd, mine also says it has the latest version installed, but it's a different version than yours.
It may be because I disabled it the other day, and reenabled it to reconnect because it stopped staying connected to my GS3 Classic. That may have prompted some sort of update from Samsung but don't know.
I am beginning to believe this is another case of Tizen tweeting Fake News!!!

So I saw this article from TizenExperts that included the links for the APKs.

But it looks like its only for Samsung phones. I have a non-Samsung phone and I didn't want try it because it may cause something stupid that I will have to reset my phone again.
EDIT: I just did it anyway and I was only able to update my Gear Plugin and this is the screenshot before I installed it. I didn't notice any difference.
Any expectation dates for a new release of Gear Manager for IOS?

I installed it on my Moto G4 but I see no difference, the old app worked fine and so does that new one.
Also installed the APK nothing at all noticeable

I'm hoping for one too. I got the Gear S3 because I don't like how small the Watch 2 fits on my wrist. It's just too dainty and I love chunky watches. So far, I'm really loving it.
Anyone figure out what changed in the newer version? I couldn't see any difference...
