I am wondering if a slide card case is going to be possible with the fingerprint sensor on the back. I have not seen a single card case yet. I'm not going to jump off a bridge over it, but I'm kinda used to not carrying a wallet at this point.

I'm hoping something like amazonDOTcom/dp/B014EYVNV2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Que-xbGW3RKR3 comes along. Since the card slot pops out as a kickstand it would allow access to the print reader. It holds 2 cards well enough, but I've yet to find one like it.

I emailed this company to request that they carry a Google Pixel XL version of their card case. Maybe if we can get enough requests they'll respond with a case?

Also, I tried this size comparison tool, phonearenaDOTcom/phones/size#/phones/size/Google-Pixel-XL,Google-Pixel/phones/10263,10264 , and after calibrating to my credit card, from the bottom of the phone the credit card only comes up to an inch and a half away from the power button. And using the power button as a reference, the finger print reader should be slightly higher than that.
Overall I think it should be possible and really hope a manufacturer comes through. I'd sure hate to be limited to one of those wallet style cases with such a large device.

I recently, accidentally dropped my T-Mobile HTC HD2 in a puddle, luckily i was able to pick it up and dry it off before any permanent damage was done. I let it sit under a heat lamp for a day or so, but it was still glitching, so i took the phone apart, put the logic board, rigid flex board and LCM under the lamp and let dry over night.
The phone is now working flawlessly with the exception of the volume control buttons, which i seemingly tore from rest of the rigid flex board upon dis-assembly. Of course the take-apart video that i was using didn't say anything about making sure to separate it.
I realize that I am an idiot for having done so.
My issue is that I am having a hard time finding a flex board replacement anywhere online. I am able to find them quite easily, for the international version, but as far as i am aware, they are not compatible with the U.S T-Mobile version.
So what i am asking, is:
1) are they compatible?
2) if not, does anyone know of a trustworthy site in-which i could purchase one?
3) does anyone have one that i might possibly purchase from you?
I appreciate your time in reading and any and all help is extremely grateful.

nothing guys?
I'm holding out buying an international board, waiting for someone to reply and let me know if they're compatible or not..
ends up there was a cell phone repair shop near me that was able to find what i needed. the international version does use a different board, which requires soldering.

Has anyone had success with cutting their MiniSIM to MicroSIM format?
I just got my Nexus 5 today and did not realize it needs a MicroSIM. I was just going to use my old phone's MiniSIM and was able to research I might still be able to do that by cutting it into the right format. It seems simple enough and I downloaded and printed template, but I wanted to hear some firsthand experiences before I give it a go.
No one ever had success at cutting it

It can't be done

I've done it... it works fine.
Just make it a little bigger to start with and then fine-tune it with a nail file or similar.
Also don't force it into the slot if it still seems too wide or you might get it jammed and damage the slot.

I'm glad I posted, the nail file is a good idea I would have missed otherwise.
Just to report back, it worked like a charm and cost me maybe 3-4 mins. I used one of the many templates one can find online, stuck the SIM to the printout using double-sided tape and then used a utility blade to cut the card, applying lots of presure with one my fingers on the card to hold the card in place. I didn't even need the file.
You know your network provider will just send you out one for free if you phone and ask

Why do people bother cutting SIM cards? Why not just get the right SIM card from your carrier? If your carrier is so pretentious that they would charge you to swap a SIM card, I'd seriously reconsider buying your service from them in the first place.
T-Mobile is pretty good about giving out free SIM cards. I just didn't want to wait. And I enjoy DIY :good:
I have been looking all over for a SOLID car mount to hold my edge. After asking and harassing every phone shop and internet site and i stumbled into a verizon store and they showed me the iBolt. I bought it right away...
The good:
*solid construction
*adjustable grips for phones with or without a case ... even otterbox.
*microsuction in the suction cup
*built-in cable management
The bad:
*No wireless charging
*No rewriteable nfc.
*Price
Worth the price actually. Best ive found

Sir, yes sir

The iBolt car mount is the best one (in my opinion) out there. I have it since I had a Galaxy S4. They one I have is universal so I had it while using the S5, Note 4 and now with the Edge. The adjustable grip arms are fantastic, makes the phone feel secure. The built-in cable for charging is also great although I'd prefer wireless charging.

Sprint carries those. That is on my list to buy.

I've used that model of iBolt since it came out. In fact, I was part of the early group that didn't get the USB cable because of manufacturing delays, so they shipped it separately. Got two mounts at that time. We've used it with all models from the original GS-4g, SII, SIII, and now Note Edge.
The only real problem I've had is that the ball joint crushes the resistance band in the receptacle, which then lets the dock portion rotate much too freely. I had one replaced for that early on, but when the replacement did the same thing, I didn't bother to get it fixed again. My son recently took one for his car, and the spring that keeps the top clamp down eventually popped out and it doesn't hold his phone very well any more.
Another minor niggle is that the bottom left foot sometimes presses the volume buttons, so I have to mount slightly offset so the volume-up doesn't stay pressed.
If I ever switch away from the iBolt, I will probably find a better universal dock and keep using the "magic pigtail" that enables dock mode on the Samsung phones. Love it with Car Home Ultra

Samsung dock/carmode is a nightmare. But, with a tectile or rewritable nfc sticker, you can have your phone automatically do anything one you sit it on the dock.

Hi Troy, if you fill in the form on www.ibolt.co/support and we will send you a new dock. The xProDock has a latch with less force and you will not have any issue with this. The products are covered for 2 years so no sweat
Also, if you turn the phone around (and change the position of the "magic" pigtail) the foot will not touch the volume button, it will be on top instead.

If you download the two iBOLT Apps from the Google Play store, the Dock'n Drive App and the DockMode App you can turn any Android phone into "DockMode" without using an NFC tag. Just start the DockMode (orange icon) App and the Dock'n Drive will start. With this you can have Bluetooth, WiFi, Hotspots & more turned on/off automatically when you step into the car. Have a cool digital GPS enabled speedometer & much more.

Thanks! I think I'll take advantage of that.
EDIT: Oops, looks like I am slightly outside the two year window. I see an email from Kim on 1/24/2013 confirming my order via Amazon (sans cables). Looks like I had one replaced in May 2013 for the crushed resistance band where the ball joint connects.
Hello Mates,
I noticed that Samsung changed the behaviour of the notification LED in coop with the original FlipCase.
The LED is turned off (and even 3rd party LED manager) are not able to drive it, when cover is closed.
So no I have to open the cover to check for Notifications...
As I made a custom whole in the cover over the LED I would love to revert this behaviour.
Any Ideas, proposals?
Why do you people always upgrade to the latest Android with Samsung phones without waiting? Samsung stops giving ****s about their phones immediately they release them. Was 5.1 a forced update? If it is, I need to start digging for a way to stop my lovely 4.4.4 kit kat Edge from upgrading. Works fine as is. I have heard nothing but complaints about the Rom updates.
This Flip Case deal just seems ridiculous and even more of a reason to disable any form of update I would get in the future
Hmm NVM. It appears even on 4.4.4 my LED notification all of a sudden quit lighting up with Flip Case. This is bizzarre. Does Samsung always work to screw over its customers like this?
---------- Post added at 01:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:55 AM ----------
Edit: No it works. I just need to widen the hole on my flip case so I can see the LED. looks like its a 5.1 issue for you then

Little bit off topic but can you post a pic of the case you punctured a hole in? I was planning to do the same but couldn't gather the courage xD

Haven't done it. Yet but I don't suppose it would be rocket science lol. What I do for now is push the flip cover to the left to have the stock oval slit slide over the LED light area.

Awesome. Not bad. I wish the back panel wasn't attached with adhesive. Makes it much more difficult to change it out on a whim.
sooooo get moto care is what i'm thinking after watching that
I get a warranty match by buying the phone with my visa card, so one year from moto one year thru visa. I skipped moto care
After watching that I cancelled my Best Buy order which still hasn't shipped. I refuse to buy another phone that basically has to be thrown away when the battery craps out. Glued on back is just ghetto.

Sorry to say but it seems like most manufacturers are starting to go this route...the same with weeding out microSD support.

Yeah it's a shame. I'll probably end up sticking with my M8 or picking up a G4 once a fully functional AOSP ROM is released. I do hope HTC can pivot and release and more Nexus/Moto type budget flagship next year with the M10.
That's not nearly as bad as I imagined.
As soon as I figure out how to solder in the mod chip, I'll be set.
Did they discover if the pure has dual sim hardware?
It has a dual sim tray but not sure if the software or the sim reader on the US variant is capable of making any use of dual sims
That's what I mean if the teardown revealed if the phone has the hardware capable of dual sim operation ie multiple radios.

The video is just that...a tear down. If you watched the video, it doesn't go anymore in-depth other than opening it up and putting it back together
I looked inside sim tray slot for hardware for second sim don't look like it's installed
I'm thinking it might have the hardware to support it, the reason I say it is because the sim slot on the board is double the size of what it regularly is (even considering the fact it has an SD reader, its on the underside of it), and I don't think they would want to solder two different type hardware onto the board, its not cost or time efficient. I think if out of the box it doesn't work, it is probably disabled from the software, however I will pry off the plastic tab on the sim tray and try it myself with dual sims and see what I get.
Actually just took a closer look inside the sim slot, and there are solder points on the board where the pins to touch and read the second sim should be installed but they are not. All you would need to do I guess would be to take the metal shield covering that area off by using a head gun to de-solder the corners or by cutting it off from the top and then solder a second set of the pins onto the board in its designated slot. After that I don't see why it would not work.
Looks way easier than some phones I've watched. I wish he would have removed the battery Wonder if we will see any custom or higher capacity batteries in the future for modders to use. Also if you have motocare I don't see why they won't replace the battery just file a claim before the 2 years are up and say the battery is awful and get another. I don't see the battery life crapping out in 2 years.
I guess the S6's and Notes are ghetto since the glass backs are glued as well
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA Free mobile app
Looks like room for a bigger battery and the housing design seems better suited with a replaceable battery design and cover. Seems an odd design decision since no unibody contraint.
Glass doesn't do clips. Glued plastic is ghetto. They simply want to sell new phones every year and planned obsolescence is the easiest way to do it.
