I purchased a dbrand vinyl skin to cover up the silly looking back of the Nexus 4. I purchased the black leather one found here:
http://dbrand.com/submodels/nexus-4/
This thing is top quality. It was easy to install and looks amazing.
I wanted to make sure that it works well with the official Nexus 4 bumper... and it does!
I plan on doing a full series of videos for the Nexus 4, so be sure to check out http://www.reverendkyle.com for more videos and the REVTV Forums!

Welcome fellow brethren from the Sensation and N7 forums! LOL Glad to see you here!
Great video and review! I have mine coming as well from dbrand and can't wait for it to be put on with my Ringke Fusion Case!

I think I might buy one of the metallic ones too.
Is it real leather?
Thanks.

No
Cheers for the vid Reverend.
I followed your videos for the HP Touchpad and helped greatly.
I have a black carbon skin ordered but now I really like the look of the black leather
Ordered the black leather one.
Does is add any grip to the back? If it stops the phone gliding of the table it's good enough for me.

Yes it does. The leather style back has a texture to it so it will definitely grip/cushion the back well.

Good to know. Thank you for the feedback :good:
It honestly doesnt provide that much more grip it probally does more than the glass but when i had my BSE on the back the grip was better than with the black leather. It just doesnt have that much texture to it (The color ones have more) The carbon fiber and titanium ones do have a bit more grip aswell but the black leather is the least and most slippery of them all.
***SOLD
FYI I have a Carbon Fiber one im selling for 8 bucks shipped cause im getting my titanium one so if anyon is interested let me know
A skin for the back of my nexus sounds awesome to prevent scratches that are starting to appear on my white back.
I want to know, which skins are as grippy or grippier than the stock, naked back?
Thanks in advance.

You mean easiest to hold without falling? I think you will obtain one hundred different answers for this but my suggestion is a TPU case like a cruzerlite; rubber back keeps from sliding off anything and your hands. Look around here http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/accessories
cruzerlite: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...rds=cruzerlite+nexus+5&sprefix=cruzer,aps,190
Spigen is also popular, not a fan of their cases though. Google also has "official" cases.
I meant skin like dbrand and a few others. They're basically big stickers which is perfect for my needs but I want one that has some texture to it vs completely smooth.

Just bought this case and I'm very happy with the quality of it. Its not too bulky for me. It even came with a screen protector that went on nicely. I bought the Metallic Navy one with my black S5.
Looks like a direct rip off of the UAG model cases. Honestly that isn't a bad thing because UAG makes one hell of a case. Though I would be interested in feeling this next to a UAG in order to compare quality.

Here are a few pics
I don't believe this is a direct rip off of UAG because this case by OBLIQ is a 2 piece case and though similar is appearance to UAG it is different.
I agree with both of you. UAG has some nice looking cases. Never owned one though. Always thought they were pricey. I bought this one thinking it was like UAG. Turns out it was different. But i'm liking the difference.
Anybody mind explaining how a two piece work? Is there a reason why you'll remove that part of the case?
Right it has two pieces but it looks like a uag case..... No denying that.. Regardless glad that this case is working well for you.

Purchased the VENA clear case. I was looking for a Ringke fusion type case, I but couldn't find one so I went with this option. This is an excellent alternative. I'm very pleased. Very sturdy, fits perfectly (even with tempered glass screen protector) and it's non slippery, while maintaining a minimalist profile. This is just my personal opinion. I couldn't ask for more.

I love it as well, my only two annoyances are the scratches and fingerprint magnet, which is found on pretty much every clear/glossy case.
Is this case rigid? How large is the headphone/USB cutout for larger cables?

no, is a slim hybrid with hard plastic on the back and flexible tpu bumper as far as the cut outs go, they're pretty big i have not had any problems plugging in different cables

Where you buy from?
Im on Amazon, im seeing VskinCl and Retain models, which one did you get?
I just got the incipio octane in the mail yesterday. I guess its originally 25 but someone Herr posted a link with a code that made it 11 total so I grabbed it. People were saying they really liked it, imo its decent but nothing to go crazy about.
I was thinking about picking up something else. Had my eye on the cruzerlite bugdroid case. Then I seen this post. Not sure what to do.

Seems like he's talking about this one. I have one on the way. I had a similar case for the Droid Mini, and Turbo. They hold up well, and no matter how clumsy I may be, I never managed to crack a screen. Hopefully this one treats my X just as well.
Thanks...
....Thinking of ordering one, I have a cruzerlite bugdroid on the way, seen it on the 6p, it looked nice, so I ordered one for this phone.

Just ordered mine a few days ago, my only concern is the TPU turning yellowish over time so I opted for the black border, but I have a white/silver frame :/
The Incipio case has a frosted back and silicone bumper and is running at $14 on sale right now, might go for that one too

I don't really like the bugdroid on this phone. The thickness of the case, coupled with the cutouts for the buttons makes it hard for me to press the buttons sometimes. That's why I ordered the Vena case for this phone.
I'm still liking the VENA, I use it for more rough handling like outdoors or exercising... Most days at the office I prefer the PLESON tpu case, vile which is more flexible and has a slimmer profile

I've been using the hybrid case for a few months, very happy with it.

Probably the best TPU case for this phone
I posted a review/overview of the Vena VskinTPU cases on Youtube that I cant link because XDA thinks I'm a new user for some reason. I have had mine since the video was mad and alternating carrying them has kept them from yellowing at all. Just perfect TPU implementations. Not a lot of added bulk, good drop protection, and laser-accurate cutouts. They have been a real surprise.
Search 'Moto X Pure 2015 clear TPU' on Youtube to watch it.

Needs more pictures. Button side, top, bottom, and front. To judge case/screen protector compatibility, the front needs to be very zoomable to see the plastic ring between glass and metal.
Yessss i emailed them a long time ago and the said this was something they were thinking of making. $44 seems a little steep though. Whos gonna be the ginny pig and get one?
Is the visor part attached or is it a second piece?
I just ordered one. Knowing toastmade it will take them a couple of weeks before they ship it. I bet it will be beautiful though.
I would buy it, but I would like more pictures or a full review of this case from someone. =)

It's full-grain leather (the best you can get) from American cattle, sent to Europe to be tanned and back to Oregon Leather Company. Once dyed and finished, the leather is shipped to us, then we laser cut and handcraft to perfection. It's quite a process, and it took us quite some time to get the 6P all dialed in. The leather is ~1.5mm thick, so it'll take any drop and the phone won't wear through on the corners like the super thin Horween used by others. With that being said, we made the wrap all one piece; without the visor coverage, the surrounding leather would protrude and look pretty bad.
True story: Matias (owner) unknowingly dropped his leather wrapped iPhone outside his house when dropped off by a cab late one night. The next day, he managed to track it down at a neighbors' using the "Find my iPhone" feature. He determined that the cab had ran over the phone; there were even little pieces of gravel imbedded into the leather which managed to take all of the damage. Replaced the shattered screen and it was as good as new.

More pics and reviews are in the works. FYI - the leather is ~1.5mm thick. You could surely apply the front panels atop a screen protector, but I don't think you'll be able to cram it into a case. Honestly, I don't see why you'd want to case that smooth, buttery leather. It'll take any drop and the phone won't wear through on the corners like the super thin Horween used by others.

It's gonna take my leather toast skin a couple of weeks, so in the meantime I had ordered a Slickwraps leather back. The quality is not as high as toastmade but I needed a skin quickly.

Just out of interest, what made you choose slickwraps over dbrand?
I've only ever dealt with dbrand so far so I'm not really aware of how the different companies compare and what they actually do different?
The toastmade stuff I've seen on the internet does look top notch.

I guess I'd have to see it in person, from that picture it almost makes the phone look plastic.

I wanted a real leather skin for my 6P. I don't think dbrand sells real leather skins.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I just replaced my dbrand black leather (vinyl) with a slick wraps real leather one. It was a lot easier to apply, I don't think the fit is quite as exact, but the feel of it is so much better.

Okay, its official. The Slickwraps leather skin sucks. The leather is thin and plasticity feeling. It does provide grip though. It will have to do until my toastmade skin comes in though.

Will be interesting to hear feedback on the quality and fit of the toastmade wrap.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dbrand skins. I've got a combo of the light and dark brushed metal and it was like applying Armour it was that thick and good quality! Love how they give you some spare pieces as well.

Looks interesting.
I might bite. I would love a real carbon fiber version like the wood.
A carbon fiber pattern in the leather would do.

I would like to know if you used the Slickwraps leather or the Slickwraps "Natural Series" leather (one is real leather, the other is vinyl). I was considering the Slickwraps Natural Series because it looked fairly modest (doesn't cover the entire back), is less than $30 and looks fairly nice. However, if it is really thin and feels like plastic, I'll pass on it. Thanks!
