Spen stopped clicking........ - Sprint Note 7 Questions & Answers

So today for no reason at all my Spen stopped clicking so i could remove it from the phone. I hardly use it and am not even sure why i was going to remove it from he phone in the first place but in order to remove it i have to bang my phone on something (glad i have it in a case)
Has this happened to anyone else and does Samsung warranty this or do i have to buy a new Spen?

Solved my own issue. Went to two sprint stores showed them my Spen and asked did they have any and the answer was no
So my next question was do you have any recalled Note 7's that they haven't sent back and the checked. I walked out with a black one and a blue one.

Phone occasionally locks and drops data

So, I love this phone but have one issue that seems odd to me. As an example I am currently running pandora and tried opening the xda app which caused what appeared to be a fc but my phone kept running pandora and went to a black screen for a minute then a faded screen which eventually lead to a drop in data (briefly). Every thing was briefly unresponsive... It acted exactly like a reboot without rebooting. When I was able to unlock the screen I had no data service (briefly) and all apps closed. Xda app often fc's which is not a big deal to me but causing the black screen and data drop is concerning to me. I also had this happen when opening the phone info app while running nothing else. Should I be concerned about this? Software or hardware? I am running stock.
Edit: Have also had to reboot due to dropped data but it may have been during a switch between 4G or 3g even 1x.

same thing happens to me, not sure why. I went through and froze all bloat with titanium backup, and it still happens
It's not something I can make happen, just happens randomly. I have 5 days to return this so I would like to figure it out. If a software update would fix it I would just deal with it for now but I'm not sure what the problem is.

I just talked to Samsung on their live chat and they recommended I return the phone and exchange for new. I am still in the 14 day return window so I will ask for brand new even if I have to pay their $35 fee.

The policy is there is no $35 reatocking fee for the same phone swap. Don't let them tell you different. Your phone is DOA. Its a warranty exchange.

Thanks. I already exchanged and they did not charge me anything. Hopefully I won't encounter that problem again.

Replacement phone just did the exact same thing..... Seriously only one other person has this problem?

No.. tons of us have data issues. My phone hot booted in my hands the other night and it was the first time I experienced it, but I've seen reference to it before.
Your issues are not isolated.
I gave up with tech support and wishing a new phone would fix it and turned to third party development. My first time flashing a ROM. I used synergy and have been really thrilled with it.
Sucks to have to fix a brand new phone. Sucks to be a beta tester for Samsung and vzw.
Sorry for your troubles though.

Not the dropped data, the unresponsive black screen... Sorry, should have been more specific.

Ahh.. no. Sorry. Have you tried wiping/restoring the phone? Lame, I know...

I did not try wiping the phone because the first one was only nine days old and I had not done much with it. The second one lasted a day and now I am on my third. I really hope this does not happen again. The people at the Verizon store said they have never heard of this..... They think it's an app... I only have 12 apps installed. I don't know what I'm going to do if this happens with this phone. This is frustrating. I do not want to get stuck with a phone that has a problem like this.

Mine does the same thing. Besides the stock stuff, I loaded Pandora, Google Music, Amazon MP3, and Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Master of the Seas game. It was nice enough to wait until just after the 14 day return window to start locking up and misbehaving. The only way I could get it back was to do a battery pull. Of course, when I brought it to the store it ran like a champ! If you can get another replacement, make sure it says 'UPDATED' on the box. Those have a newer kernel / baseband and seem to be working better.
All of mine have said updated on the box. I am trying to limit apps for now and will slowly add them if I have no issues.

Is it possible my screen digitizer is broken?

Most of the time my screen unlocks it self while its in my pocket makes random calls deletes the text im typing and certain keys are non responsive like if i push the number one while messaging it pushes number 2 instead i have to put it in landscape mode to use the number one key also i went by cellphone repair store yesterday they told me that its prolly a software issue that a factory reset will fix it well when i got home i did that still the same issue i downloaded this screen test app and took a screenshot both sides are non responsive

[Q] Black spot/shadow on nexus 5's screen

I have just received a refurbished nexus 5 and i noticed a rather distracting blemish on the screen under the glass (on the status bar to the left of the wifi icon), it's not a solid colour so i don't think it's dead pixels, it's more of a shadow and it's barely visible when the phone is in landscape but flip the phone portrait and there it is.
I have never seen anything like it before so it would be interesting to find out what it is and if i can fix it easily myself.
Sent it back and get another

It's a defect, don't waste your energy trying to explain it further. Send it back for a new one.

I have been waiting a few weeks now for the place i bought it from to get in some new stock but they haven't as of yet.
It would have been nice to know what the defect is and if it's easy to fix so i know if it's worth taking it in for repair

Spen

Hey everyone! Absolutely love this phone. So as I'm trying to use my spen I am having a lot of issues. It doesn't write like the note 4 does. The spen will only pick up at a certain amount of pressure. Anyone else having this issue?

Having an issue with my spen too. Not sure what's going on. I remove it and air command comes up and I try clicking on it, nothing happens I have to either tap the screen multiple times or even press hard on the screen.

Reset your phone see if that works.
So I tried using someone else's s pen and it worked with no problem so something was up with my s pen. Thank God I work at best buy and someone had returned their phone. I took their s pen and I'm all set. Don't have to ship my whole phone back just for the damn spen

New v10 update coming.

Update - H90120J (Available, kdz link in post #47)
Supposed to fix the gps issue and battery life, also security update.

I'll believe it when I see it!

That would make sense as Eliminater74 saw a new kernel posted only for a day or so recently, so work is being done, that date seems a bit sooner than I would expect, but would be happy to see it!

Yes, that's why i posted here, from what I hear, others are supposed to get a update at some point but i don't know anything about them, i just know what I saw about the tmo v10 and hoping they really push the update today like it said.

My phone on stock rooted Marshmallow is starting to act up: it shuts down soon after hitting 15% battery, no animation, no shutdown screen, just goes black. And today it's been just randomly rebooting. I have no real mods or tweaks, just frozen bloat. I hope this is something they may fix with an update, or else it's just my phone?

Has anyone checked on LG Bridge for an update?
I am completely stock, locked and un-rooted. I'll give LG Bridge a try and see what happens....If I get an OTA notification I'll let you know as well
EDIT:
Manual check for update: NOTHING
LG Bridge: NOTHING

I had a similar issue with stock rooted lollipop. Nothing that I tried resolved - clearing data/cache, reloading OS from lg factory image. I ended up exchanging under mfg warranty. Thankfully the LGUP refurb option and factory image option replaced OS, recovery and even got rid of the message saying the bootloader was unlocked.
I ended up getting the carrier insurance on the refurb unit I just got back yesterday since this was a problem that plagues LG G4's. Many say the G4 has a mobo issue after a while. I'm hoping that I got a 1-off lemon and the durability of other v10's prove otherwise.
My wife's g4 has had 2 updates in 2 days, the manager at tmo only works Thursday-saturday, I'll be going back to find out what's going on.

Samsung is no better than LG in this regard
If OEM updates is a huge concern the obvious choice is a Nexus, Motorola was good for a 3rd party but hard to say anymore being they are lenova

Exactly the same for me. But then again, I never thought I'd leave Samsung. I too have been thinking about the Note 7 - assuming all the rumors are true.

Yeah, didn't he say he was able to grab it before it disappeared too? I'd be interested to see how what he grabbed differs from the actual release if and when we see it. :highfive:

Same situation here. Sammy is becoming more difficult to root everyday. LG is sadly following suite. If I did but Sammy again it would only be the unlocked international versions of their devices.
