Using LGFlashTool to flash to stock from 6.0, error: Factory Reset Status 2 - AT&T LG G3

First post here, you all are great with the information I could already find.
So as the title states, I tried to flash stock ROM from 6.0 and I got this error. Usually the screen should say Factory Reset Status 3 and everything would be good, but mine says 2. I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/problem-returning-to-stock-try-t2862463 which told me to use Board DL and not Upgrade DL, and to do some other stuff later.
My issue is that after setting up LGFlashTool and clicking the yellow arrow, I unplug my phone and plug it back in again and nothing changes. There is no "Waiting for connection" message in LGFT and my phone doesn't do anything.
My computer recognizes that the phone was just plugged in though, as I get a notification saying something like "this device can perform faster yadda yadda."
What can I do to try to troubleshoot this?
Possibly relevant software/programs in use:
Windows 7
LGFlashTool 1.8.6.527
LGUP8974.dll
LGD850AT-01-V10d-310-410-JUN-19-2014+0.tot

You need to choose board_dl and reflash.
Did you make sure your com port is still set to com41? Are you making sure your using a USB 2.0 port?

Thank you, turns out I was using COM 4 not 41. I had switched to a USB 2.0 port as I was using a 3.0 port before and forgot to change it.
LGFT now recognizes my phone is plugged in, but it got stuck on "waiting for connection" then failed with the message "CrossDL [Unknown] to [D850]. SWvers..." with other text that is cutoff.
EDIT: tried again, got past "waiting for connection" then failed with "can't change to download mode" and I'm certain it's in DL mode. I'm gonna keep trying to get it to work, maybe try my 3.0 ports again as I only have a single 2.0 port on my laptop.
Edit 2: Fails at "waiting for connection" three more times. Logs:
PID: NULL
IMEI: Unknown

You need to only be using a USB 2.0 port. USB 3.0 will not work at all for you. And making sure your checking com port.
Now when you said your phone is in download mode, did you restart download mode?? After each failed attempt you have to reboot your phone..

I checked the COM port and it is in fact COM41.
I also made sure to restart DL mode each time the flash failed.
If it helps, the text box in the Firmware Update screen on my phone says "USER B58."
New issue: It got past the connection issue after a long wait but failed with the "USB port open" error. I've tried it a few more times and still get the "CrossDL" error. Restarted DL mode each time.

Somehow got it to work. It ended with the "USB port open" fail message, but the phone powers on, I can access the home screen and apps, and it is on version 4.4.2
Thank you for all of your help!

Glad you got it to work. Remember almost all the time it will show fail. Anything after 80% is just rebooting so that's normal

[Q] Trying one-click root, keep getting 'cannot locate device' at command screen.

ok, trying to install one-click root on my Epic, i have up-to-date drivers installed, USB debugging is checked, my computer gives me the option to mount and it reads my device. when I go to the run.bat command screen, I keep getting the message 'cannot locate device, unplug USB, re-plug and press enter.' when I do that I get 'aborting script, phone still not connected' message. can anyone point me in the right direction or tell me what I'm missing, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to do a battery pull on the phone and try that. If that does not work, do a battery pull and reset your computer and see if that helps.
Not sure what OS you are running but the best thing is to do on Win XP.

Can you tell us the complete verbage of the error? I ran into a problem because I did not LITTERALLY UNZIP the rar file before running it. Kept saying the phone was not connected..but when I looked closer it was failing because the bat file was trying to run a piece of the program and for some reason it was failing on it. COMPLETELY AND LITTERALLY unzipped the rar to my computer and then ran it (making sure the phone was connected and in usb debug mode) and was rooted in a matter of minutes. hope this helped a little... good luck

Try plugging the Epic into a mobo usb port.

Your computer gives you an option to mount? If you have ADB debug enabled you should see something pop up in your device manager, but I'm not so sure you should get any kind of mounting pop-up.
Make sure you have all of the correct drivers installed for your OS, and try it again running each command seperately from the batch file. Then post here which command is coming back unsuccsessful so I can pinpoint the problem better.

I am having the same problem now for an hour or so. Tried everything I can think of , tried the all in one clockwork , used a different cable....i can hear my computer make that sound when I plug the phone in , and also when I unplug it. Just trying to get clockwork on here , ive read and read and read all the threads I can find. Got good drivers , windows xp. Rebooted laptop and phone at least 20 times ...dont know what else to try

Look in your device manager on your pc while your phone is connected with usb debugging and make sure there is no question mark next to Android ADB device. It needs to recognize this driver for it to connect.
HI
Hi i had that same issue an i went to the samsung official website becaue my phone can't connect to my pc i couldn't see my sd card pop up so the guy say my phone was defective so im thinking you have the same issue as me but samsung is fixing my phone now for free an free shipping i hope you still have warranty on your epic an they flashing a new rom an software on it for me they say to fix gps an wifi issues i had too
Got it to work, it was a driver issue apparently. Downloaded drivers again, completely removed old drivers. Reboot PC, make sure phone isnt connected yet. After reboot, install drivers, reboot again. I also had my phone turned off this whole time. When PC came back up , turn phone back on, connect using one of the main USB ports, not one in the front or anything. You should see windows detect and install the software. Then I ran the all in one clockwork , and here I am now fully rooted, syndicate rom , so much better than stock...hope you get it working! I definitely almost gave up a few times

[Solved] [Q] Bricked Help!

I am afraid I have made a very big n00b mistake.
Let me just say to prior to this goof up, I was well informed of the rooted SG4G world and had successfully flashed CWM and was running on various custom kernels and tweaks. I am currently abroad and had to revert back to my unlocked SG4G as my phone abroad, so my knowledge of the rooting world became somewhat diminished. Now here lies the problem. Earlier this morning, my phone had a random reboot. I decided to try and flash another kernel that I had saved on my phone via SGS Kerenel flasher(which I have used successfully used before). However, I think i may have reverted to the stock kernel that did not run well with all the tweaks I had previously installed. Now when I boot up, I get stuck on the SG4G screen (only for T-Mobile screen). I rebooted into recovery mode but it appears as if I have lost CWM, therefore I can not do a nandroid back up.
My question is: How can I restore my phone and make a nandroid backup without CWM?
I already took matters into my own hands and tried flashing CWM via Haeimdall through the kernel that is suggested in "The Definitive Noobs guide to Flashing and or fixing the SG4G" but Heimdall does not seem to recognize my device. It does say "Device detected" when I enter download mode but it is not giving me the option to click "Start."
Help will be much appreciated since I am relying on my phone while I am abroad and need to fix this ASAP.
Much appreciated and again,
Sorry for the n00b mistake
Take note of the 'kernel' in SGS Kernel Flasher. Not ROM flasher.
Follow the guide in the second link of my signature.
Thank you for the prompt response lumin,
I have followed your guide to the bone but I am unfortunately stuck on a certain step. When I reboot my phone into "Download mode" and connect the USB cable, nothing happens. The command prompt just says "Ready for Flash" and does not proceed to the "Installing Drivers" step.
Any thoughts on this?
I hope this does not mean my phone has become a paperweight and that my computer no longer recognizes the phone via USB .
Edit: According to Heimdall the Device status says "Connected" but according to the the command prompt it says "Device not connected" and "Ready for Flash"
Also, when I first plug in my phone, Windows 7 tells me the "USB device is not recognized"
Hope this doesn't mean we've hit a dead end...
Did you read the notes about removing other drivers that may have been installed on your computer for your phone?

Yes I did. I installed usbdeview before I began the process and deleted anything Android/Samsung related.
Windows doesn't seem to recognize my phone but Heimdall does say the "Device Status" is connected.
Any other thoughts?
When I first connect to my pc (holding buttons to get in download mode, gb bootloaders) I get same msg. But, once I press the volume button and enter download (Andy & shovel screen), the computer(Odin) sees it and that not recognized pop up goes away. Are you sure you got a proper/good cable?

If Heimdall see's it, it's soft bricked and fixable by flashing the right stuff. Still getting into download mode, it can be fixed.

That is great news.
But how exactly do I flash "the right stuff?"
I noticed that when I plugged my SG4G to attempt the "Installing Drivers" step via CMD, my laptop installed the drivers automatically and said "the device is ready to use." Does this constitute as "Installed Drivers" step completed and I can proceed to flashing KJ6 Heimdall via one click?
Thanks,
Eurik

I am using a data cable that I believe is from an old "V-cast" phone. I am not using a Samsung Galaxy USB cable but I have not had a problem with transferring files to and from my phone from my laptop so I assume it is not the cable... unless I am mistaken?
Use your cable that came with the phone. Just because the cable will transfer files doesnt mean it will work with heimdall.
You keep mentioning installing drivers through cmd line. While it does show the cmd line in the background - Zadig should open giving you a GUI to install/replace the drivers.
Is Zadig opening when you run the One-Click? Also, do you still have Samsung drivers installed on your computer? Go to My Computer > Uninstall Programs and look.

Hello lumin and thank you again for your prompt responses,
I checked again to see if there were any drivers installed and you were in fact correct. The KIES program slipped by my findings. I uninstalled it and again uninstalled anything Samsung/Android related via usbdeview.
I thought this might do the trick but Zadig is not popping up when I plug my USB cable in my "Download ready" Samsung. The CMD does read "Ready for flash" and Heimdall says its connected. Should I just go ahead and run Heimdall? WIll Zadig pop up after I click the "flash" button. If I am not mistaken, your tutorial says it should automatically pop up, which in my case, it is not.
Also, eollie did mention I need a the Samsung Galaxy S USB cable that came with my phone. I am not currently using that. Could the cable be the culprit to my issue?
I really appreciate everybody's help to my problem.
Thank you all,
Eurik
If it says connected in Heimdall and flash is enabled - then yes - flash. It does not have to be a Samsung cable. The cable will either work or not work. And it sounds like yours is working.

Alright lumin,
One more step complete, one more problem.
I got to the step where Zadig shows up. The drivers even installed and I got a message saying my "Device is ready to use."
Now the new problem.
When I select "List all devices" I do not see the option to select "Samsung USB Composite Device."
4 devices are listed and the include: HP webcam-101 (Interface 0). HP webcam-101 (Composite Parent), Gadget serial, and Gadget serial Control (interface 0).
No Samsung USB Composite device though.....

LG Flash Tool stuck

I have an at&t LG G3 D850
It was stuck with a McAfee lock and kill switch after letting someone borrow it.
I finally found a guide that let me get into download mode.
That guide wanted me to use LGUP but it would not recognize my phone it just kept saying unknown even though the phone shows in my device manager.
So now I am trying LG Flash Tool. But it seems to be stuck in the "ready" position.
I've heard that it doesn't work well with win10 but I am not sure. I only have this laptop and one with win8 on it. I was getting an error "milky way not connecting" but set the compatibility to win7 and that stopped.
Any idea why it is stuck in the ready position?

Your using a USB 2.0 port correct? USB 3.0 won't work. And you've changed the LG/Android com port to com41 in device manager?
If so have you tried unplugging and replugging the phone? Remember each time you attempt to flash you need to reboot the device. (Make sure your in download mode)
About the mcafee thing. I do know it blocked download mode, since you said you found away around it. I don't think flashing will remove the mcafee lock. But it's still worth a try!

Yes, USB 2.0 and I have tried unplugging and replugging the phone. COM41. I just rebooted and tried again but it is still stuck at ready. I am in download mode.
I tried it about an hour ago and read to disconnect the USB and reconnect to "jump start" the flash tool. At the time when I disconnected it gave me a "waiting for connection" message. When I reconnected it was starting to work but my cat unplugged the USB and I haven't been able to get it to work since.

You'll just need to keep retrying. But yeah need to unplug and replug sometimes to get it to work. Have you rebooted your computer? Also what sort of USB cable are you using? The oem LG one?
If you've changed USB ports etc each time make sure you check device manager as it can change the com port back.

Trying to go back to Oxygen OS from Lineage OS, problems with MSM Tool

Hello! First post here, bit of a doozy. I have a OnePlus 6 and this weekend I decided I'd try out LineageOS 18. I installed it fine and it works (phone isn't bricked) but I've decided I want to go back to Oxygen OS now. However, I'm having a lot of trouble making this happen.
I've been following all the various guides, which involve using MSM Tool to flash the stock ROM back to the phone, but it always hangs up when I hit "Start" on MSM Tool. It'll get stuck on "Waiting for Device," or sometimes I get "Open Serial Device Failed" and I've also gotten "Sahara Communication Failed."
It seems like I can get everything else right though, so I'm not sure why it hangs here. The phone, when plugged in, shows up in Device Manager as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3)" like it should, and it also shows up in MSM Tool under COM 3, so it should be good, but it just never works when I hit "Start."
Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? It's not the end of the world but I'm having issues with Lineage and it would be real nice to be back on stock Oxygen OS. Thanks.
I wonder if you're on a USB 3.0 port. If so, try a USB 2.0 port. Cheers.

This happens when 2 devices like printers or something uses the same COM port, make sure there is no weird serial devices are plugged in at the same time, also make sure your drivers are installed correctly and functioning.
When you get the Sahara message, leave the message on the screen and hold the power and volume up buttons on your phone. It will briefly re-establish connection then start the download. This worked for me when I had the problem. Good luck.

HARD-BRICKED AND NOTHING WORKING FOR ME

UPDATE: Turns out "Firehose getufsinfo failed" is basically your memory is dead. Got RAM replaced and it started working just fine again, without any loss of data. It was a hardware issue.
hi, My Oneplus 7 Pro (GM 1911) is bricked to the point that the volume/power buttons don't boot me into fastboot anymore.
I tried using the MSM tool. The first time it loaded until the point it got stuck at "Param Preload". Since then, at every try, it goes as far as 'Firehose GetUFSinfo Failed' at the 7 seconds point and disconnects automatically. The Power/Volume buttons however work when I connect the phone to the PC. Fastboot doesn't work, it just helps reconnect to the PC without removing the USB C cable. And when that happens, it again disconnects at the 7-second point at "Firehose GetUFSinfo Failed".
When I disconnect and reconnect my phone either by physically removing the USB C cable or by pressing the volume buttons/power buttons, I get the "Firehose GetUFSinfo Failed" error, but when I don't do that and click on the 'ENUM' option in the top left of MSM tool, the device is shown as connected again, and then when I click start I get the "Sahara Connection Failed. Please try again after power off phone (PBL:6)" error.
At this point, I've used several different drivers, USB ports (3.0 and 2.0), and different OOS files. This happened out of nowhere, I had OOS beta of about 2021 installed.
Try disabling driver signature on Windows. Reinstall the MSM drivers and try again. That worked for me

did you have the 'firehose getufsinfo failed' error? because someone I just spoke to said that the error means that the storage chip is dead and software isn't gonna do anything. I would need a motherboard replacement
Not really sure, about the "getufsinfo failed" part. Was some firehose error.
Hi,
What do you have in the Port COM section in your windows console device manager ?
Did you try :
- another sure USB cable ?
- another computer ?
ie : I had to change from a computer using a USB-C to USB-C port to an old one using a tradtional USB port to make msm work
I have the same issue with un-bricking oneplus7t "Firehose getufsinfo failed"... nothing is working for me.. tried everything, now i don't know what to do.
