LG Flash Tool stuck - AT&T LG G3

I have an at&t LG G3 D850
It was stuck with a McAfee lock and kill switch after letting someone borrow it.
I finally found a guide that let me get into download mode.
That guide wanted me to use LGUP but it would not recognize my phone it just kept saying unknown even though the phone shows in my device manager.
So now I am trying LG Flash Tool. But it seems to be stuck in the "ready" position.
I've heard that it doesn't work well with win10 but I am not sure. I only have this laptop and one with win8 on it. I was getting an error "milky way not connecting" but set the compatibility to win7 and that stopped.
Any idea why it is stuck in the ready position?

Your using a USB 2.0 port correct? USB 3.0 won't work. And you've changed the LG/Android com port to com41 in device manager?
If so have you tried unplugging and replugging the phone? Remember each time you attempt to flash you need to reboot the device. (Make sure your in download mode)
About the mcafee thing. I do know it blocked download mode, since you said you found away around it. I don't think flashing will remove the mcafee lock. But it's still worth a try!

Yes, USB 2.0 and I have tried unplugging and replugging the phone. COM41. I just rebooted and tried again but it is still stuck at ready. I am in download mode.
I tried it about an hour ago and read to disconnect the USB and reconnect to "jump start" the flash tool. At the time when I disconnected it gave me a "waiting for connection" message. When I reconnected it was starting to work but my cat unplugged the USB and I haven't been able to get it to work since.

You'll just need to keep retrying. But yeah need to unplug and replug sometimes to get it to work. Have you rebooted your computer? Also what sort of USB cable are you using? The oem LG one?
If you've changed USB ports etc each time make sure you check device manager as it can change the com port back.

Baseband

I just recovered my phone from it bootlooping into the s/w screen but now i'm getting no data connection to my carrier. I'm guessing the only way to restore this problem is to use LG updater tool to flash the OTA 2.3.3 which also flashes a new baseband(which is what i need)
I have tried using LG tool but for some reason it keeps giving me errors saying usb connection error or can't connect to phone. I have tried 2 different cables so that can't be the problem. I'm running Windows 7 32 bit, do i need to have the phone on fully booted into android, or should i be running it on the s/w update screen?
You might have already done this but what I would recommend doing is re-installing G2x drivers and then try again.

Yea, but it never hurts to try again from scratch. Thanks for the input.

When you get the connection error try unplugging the USB cable, wait for the computer to beep to confirm the USB device driver has been unloaded, plug the cable back in and wait for the computer to beep to verify that the device driver is running again and then click the restart button on the LG Update. This happened to me once and this is how I fixed it. I ignored the message about pulling the battery. If that doesn't work then you need to search for the thread on the KDZ method and update your phone that way. KDZ method flashes the same ROM as the LG Updater.
Ya, i've tried just about everything including the kdz method. I even ran it on my friends xp computer but got the same results i did when i was on windows 7. LG tool and kdz just friggin hates my phone and computers i guess because i have followed all the threads and peoples advice and still can never get past the errors those programs keep giving me.
Please don't take this as a patronizing question, but did you install the LG USB driver package for T-Mobile phones? If you didn't then none of the above mentioned tools will be able to connect to your phone. Did you also turn off anti-virus, firewall, all background programs, etc. before trying to connect? If you did that and you still cannot connect go into control panel with your phone connected, find the LG Modem driver for the phone and disable it. The modem connecting first can prevent the phone from connecting in a mode it can be flashed. Then disconnect the USB cable and plug it back in. When the drivers load about ten devices should be installed. The first time my phone was plugged into my computer only two devices installed. I then reinstalled the drivers from the LG Updater program directly (not the ones downloaded from the LG TMO G2X driver page) and then the next time I plugged in my phone about eight new devices were S/W update mode more drivers get installed. This delay sometimes causes a communications error the first time, but unplugging the cable and reinserting it will sometimes fix the problem at that point.
I welcome your feedback
Yea I installed that driver where it loads 8-10 additional drivers for g2x. So I think I will try disabling the modem driver and restart the LG update tool. At this point I've tried just about everything but am willing to try any other suggestions, like yours, and thank you for the help.

Infuse not connecting to PC, but charging

I just bought a used infuse today, and it works perfectly besides that it wont sync up to the computer. If connected to the computer it will charge fine, and the computer shows an unknown USB device has been connected. I downloaded Kies mini to 2 different computers try to get it to work but it does not.. I have tried 3 different cables, all of which charge but do not sync. Both computers used are running windows 7 ultimate, 1 cord is an OEM htc, one is the oem samsung, and the other is an ebay one. I have gone into USB and tried debugging and kies. Nothing works!! Help!

uninstall all drivers that you have tried...go here and download the Infuse drivers and reinstall...kk see if that helps

If you can't get it going you could probably do a warranty claim since you just bought it today...the infuse comes with a year warranty from Samsung

@ bigjoe2675Thank you for that link, I downloaded:
SGH-i997_Infuse4G_USB_Drivers
(Sorry i cant post links)
Then installed it onto my comp. Then reattached the phone and it did the same unknown device thing so I manually took it to the installed driver and it said everything is functioning fine.... It is saying it is an unknown device and it cant find the drivers.
@mg2195
I bought it from a 3rd party, so no warranty. The only real reason I want to connect to my PC is to upgrade to gingerbread.
try the one click lb3 by qkster same place where you got my drivers...one click heimdall uses diff drivers...it will put the latest GB on there....kk

Ok I am installing SuperOneClick now.
Ok so I installed one click, then went to forcefully install drivers and the phone then went into USB mode and windows said it was installing drivers, while the phone said it was connected. After about 10 minutes of it doing this I figured something was up so I restarted both of them...Now I get what it is shown in the picture.
Ok now I have it to the point on the phone where when I plug in the cord I can choose kies, media player, and mass storage. But no matter what I pick on the computer does not respond, still just shows that its an unknown device.

Well now it is set to where if its plugged into the computer it will charge immediatly and at all times. However IF I can get it to go into USB mode with the computer(Not really sure why it does, but sometimes the computer recognizes it and I can use mas storage but never Kies). Anyway if it goes into USB mass storage mode and i unplug the cable and plug it into an AC plug quickly the phone will think its still mass storaging with a computer but is actually only charging off of the ac socket....
Seems to be pure software to me as it will get a full charge off of AC when tricked into thinking its in USB mode.

Usb debugging is under apps -> development. But that's not it as your Pc simply doesn't recognize it.
I would keep playing with the drivers.. for now it's your best chance

No my PC will recognize it once and a while now.... Kies just never works. and it doesnt always charge and/or recognize.
I have never liked kies personally. It gives me the spine that it causes more bad than good.
I would say your phone's mini usb slot is damaged

Same happens to my boss and the Tech Support say that is a hardware malfunction on the USB, he go to the store and they replace is infuse.
Happened to me the other day..
Don't really know what fixed mine.. I am on AOKP ics and loaded a gb rom onto the SD card through my laptop and reflashed it.. ended up getting stuck in red cwm.. I was able to select "reboot in download" and when it rebooted, my laptop instantly started installing new drivers, then I reverted to stock with gtg unbrick and reflashed my current rom and all was well.. not sure if that will help at all.. probably won't, but it might be something to look into..
If it reads sometimes and and sometimes it doesn't, I am inclined to believe the USB port is failing..

[Q] XT926 issue - waiting for device

Phone: Droid Razr HD XT926, locked bootloader, was rooted, not sure now
Issue: OTAs had not worked for awhile, but I wanted to go to KitKat. So, I tried to use Matt's 1.41 utility. I may not have had the most up-to-date Motorola USB drivers when I started. The update did not work. Now, I just get the "Motorola Logo and Dual Core Technology text", but phone then goes black. I am able to get to AP fastboot screen, but all attempts to re-try Matt's 1.41 utility, or the House of Moto 4.1, or RSD Lite 6.2.4 are unsuccessful. All of them show <waiting for device>.
Any ideas why I can't get past <waiting for device>?
Fastboot screen:
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 0
Battery OK
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected
Fastboot Reason: Boot menu selected
Assuming you've updated the drivers at this point, are using the stock usb cord and following all the details in the op to a T? Might try another USB port...

You are correct on those assumptions except the stock usb cord. The cord I am using was fine when I first started my adventure. USB debugging was on and plugging in the phone+cord caused PC to recognize the phone. But, now my PC does not even flinch when I plug the phone+cord into the USB port. Should the PC be flinching (recognizing the phone) when all are plugged in? If it is not, any recommended tricks to encourage PC and phone to play nice together?
I have tried two different ports. I will check documentation and verify they are 2.0. I will also see about finding a motorola OEM cable just to rule that out.
Thanks for the response!

I used to do a lot of flashing from various laptops to different phones with mixed results. Certainly strange when sometimes one works and the other does not. Hard to pinpoint why with so many variables. In your situation, working at one point then bam...

Update: Decided to give it another shot today. Went back to original cord (when I had success prior to bad flash). Booted to fastboot. Plugged into USB port. Today, my PC decided to try and recognize it! Windows failed once trying to find drivers for "Fastboot VANQUISH S". So, I decided to disconnect and try again. This time, drivers found! Fastboot screen changed to include the "usb connected" message below the "Fastboot Reason: Boot menu selected" message.
Using House Of Moto, I was able to successfully flash 4.4.2 183.46.10. Phone is charging up now in preparation for rooting and unlocking.
Good news there!

Using LGFlashTool to flash to stock from 6.0, error: Factory Reset Status 2

First post here, you all are great with the information I could already find.
So as the title states, I tried to flash stock ROM from 6.0 and I got this error. Usually the screen should say Factory Reset Status 3 and everything would be good, but mine says 2. I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/problem-returning-to-stock-try-t2862463 which told me to use Board DL and not Upgrade DL, and to do some other stuff later.
My issue is that after setting up LGFlashTool and clicking the yellow arrow, I unplug my phone and plug it back in again and nothing changes. There is no "Waiting for connection" message in LGFT and my phone doesn't do anything.
My computer recognizes that the phone was just plugged in though, as I get a notification saying something like "this device can perform faster yadda yadda."
What can I do to try to troubleshoot this?
Possibly relevant software/programs in use:
Windows 7
LGFlashTool 1.8.6.527
LGUP8974.dll

Thank you, turns out I was using COM 4 not 41. I had switched to a USB 2.0 port as I was using a 3.0 port before and forgot to change it.
LGFT now recognizes my phone is plugged in, but it got stuck on "waiting for connection" then failed with the message "CrossDL [Unknown] to [D850]. SWvers..." with other text that is cutoff.
EDIT: tried again, got past "waiting for connection" then failed with "can't change to download mode" and I'm certain it's in DL mode. I'm gonna keep trying to get it to work, maybe try my 3.0 ports again as I only have a single 2.0 port on my laptop.
Edit 2: Fails at "waiting for connection" three more times. Logs:
PID: NULL
IMEI: Unknown

You need to only be using a USB 2.0 port. USB 3.0 will not work at all for you. And making sure your checking com port.
Now when you said your phone is in download mode, did you restart download mode?? After each failed attempt you have to reboot your phone..

I checked the COM port and it is in fact COM41.
I also made sure to restart DL mode each time the flash failed.
If it helps, the text box in the Firmware Update screen on my phone says "USER B58."
New issue: It got past the connection issue after a long wait but failed with the "USB port open" error. I've tried it a few more times and still get the "CrossDL" error. Restarted DL mode each time.

Phone unrecognized in download/recovery

So Ive just bought a brand new U12+, and obviously the very first thing I did was attempt to root it.
Main hiccup Im running into here is that my PC wont recognize the phone while its in recovery or fastboot/download mode.
If I had to guess, I think it's a driver issue, problem is I've been searching for hours now and cannot find the proper drivers for it to be recognized. (I've also tried every USB port on my PC, both 2.0 and 3.0.)
Ive tried using HTC sync, uninstalling it and leaving that driver, Ive tried letting windows auto install the driver, and I tried a generic android USB driver, none of which have seemed to work.
PC will recognize the phone while it's fully booted to OS, and I can even command it to reboot into recovery from there, but once its in recovery I lose connection.
Not sure how much of a difference this makes, but I bought a factory unlocked phone, still sealed, with all the plastic and accessories inside the box. But when I boot into download I get the message "Security checking failed DENY", this is only supposed to show up after the bootloader has been unlocked isn't it?
Anyways, if someone could point me in the right direction for these drivers it'd be greatly appreciated.

Strange suggestion but try a different pc. My phone isnt recognised when I try to install magisk on my phone on my home pc but it works on my work pc.
I got about 9 different USB ports on my home PC and none work
Also download platform-tools_r29.0.2-windows for fastboot etc.
While you're in troubleshooting mode, try another USB cable. I had issues running fastboot commands and the like when using a generic USB cable, but it worked fine using an OEM one. Can't hurt to rule that out too.
