Most of us have a basic understanding of how augmented reality can be brought to the cell phone. My idea consists of AR versions of some of the classics. Any programmers out there willing to give this a try? I don't know if all of these ideas are possible, but think they could be real fun.
AR Pacman - You are big round and yellow with a never ending hunger. Run around eating up pellets that appear floating in front of you. Don't forget to keep your eye on the radar for ghosts. If one is closing in on you you can turn on him and see him floating there in front of you as well. Eat a power pellet and chase him down. Team up with friends running the app to clear the stage faster.
AR Asteroids - Sit yourself down in the captains seat of your own star ship (spinning chair for best effect) and take on incoming asteroids. As you spin around you see asteroids coming from every direction. Keep track of possible threats and weapon/armor upgrades via the radar.
AR Pong - Place yourself in front of a wall or other opponent and move your phone left or right to hit the incoming ball on screen.
I can go on and on naming different classic games that would rock like this, but you get the idea.
AR Pong would be awesome
I am currently developing an AR card game
The goal is to display the cards as if they are on the table in front of you..
you can check my post here or the game is in the market called "Brainy Cards" at the moment the background is a panorama but i'm working on using the camera as the opengl background..
If you check the post here you can see the pictures and the direction I am headed...
I'd like to see something able to read the 3DS augReal cards..

Hi,
I've tried your game a little bit and would like to point out some things, which, in my opinion could be improved:
* main menu text is really hard to read in colorful background, maybe adding an background views, rounding them and making white with transparency, would help. I'm not a big fan of that font either, but that's a matter of taste.
* ad area view is larger than the ad itself, doesn't look good
* what's the point of having to drop all the obstacles from fixed height? It looks like it's only to demonstrate that there is physics in the game and make the construction more difficult than it needs to be
* first time playing I had no idea about ninjas and where are they attacking from maybe some in-game guide lines would help or maybe a way to try their attack angles before placing all objects
* I can't scroll level list if I start scrolling on a level button (that fires an event to go to the level)
* Some animal animations (hurt/happy/falling) would be nice

1) ya right i will add something like button behind this text
2)on which device you are i have test it in three devices in none it is outside of actual ad
3) thats necessary just imagine how it would be if you have to directly put the object where you want also that can create some weird issue what if one put object on top of other object also by doing this it will make some what accuracy to drop the object as because of physics you have to calculate little bit
4) i had written it clearly in android market description seems no one is reading that may be one extra screen shot in instruction can help
5) that's why there is no button at right side
6) not possible because that needs designer and with my current earning it is even hard to afford dog or cat even dare to say mouse so no chance for designer

2. I've tested it on Galaxy Tab 7 and then on Galaxy Tab 10 (in this case ad area is even more "outside of ad"
4. Well, still, I mean there's no indication of possible danger to poor animal when you start your first game And, it's true, no one reads market descriptions and I don't think many are looking for game play instructions there either.
5. Wrong answer, really. I'll write a bit more below.
6. I completely understand you there
So, to elaborate more on points 4 and 5, I think you should give your game to as many friends as possible (and it's best if they haven't tried it yet) and just let them try to play. You'll see how differently they think and behave in a game environment being there for the first time. In my case (simple running/jumping game) I was surprised to see them just blindly tapping all over the screen trying to do "anything" and, despite the fact that there's instructions in the start of every level, they had a hard time finding out that game character can do double jumps and will jump higher if they hold finger instead of tapping it.
In your game, gameplay is much more complex, so tutorial with clear instructions is a must, in my opinion.
As for game level select, I can asure you, that 9 of 10 will try to scroll the button list, not the side, where is no indication that it's scrollable and nothing to scroll there.
Also, I've experienced, that in the start of some levels animals are being affected by physics (or maybe a wind?) and starts to roll, sometimes falling from the platforms. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but it makes level unnecessary hard.
Ah, one more thing.. I'm not sure that asking users for a 5 star rating is a good idea. In many levels.
And, lastly, take my advice with a grain of salt, since I'm just an amateur developer, still learning all these little things: what can annoy your app user and what can make them happy.
2) ya may be i cant see that is out side of ad because i have all device with small screen 3.2 to 3.5 inch so in large screen it will totally visible.
3) yup i will add extra screenshot to with ninja and darts to show animals are in danger from ninja
4) well thinking to add scroll bar somewhat like in browser to move how will be that
also the idea to try game on friends will be much better i will definitely. use that from now

yup 100% intentional need to be fast to solve those levels
"Ah, one more thing.. I'm not sure that asking users for a 5 star rating is a good idea. In many levels."
well i am not giving popup in middle of the game so definitely it will not annoy user but i am asking every time at the time of exit to give rate until they give rate thought user will give rating if they dont like this just crazy experiment with not much good result
one more game
guys you can also try my other game "feed fruit to the animal'

This year we, for the second time, organized Global Game Jam in Ukraine. The theme was really cool – "WAVES". I particularly liked that it allowed multiple creative interpretations.
During the jam I was busy with organizational questions, but at night between Saturday and Sunday I managed to cut several hours from my sleep and made my own prototype.
So, the idea is such: imagine a water sufrace. When you drop a pebble into it, the waves start spreading from the centre. Now let's look at this process from the opposite side: where should you drop the pebble to create the waves of particular shape? Taking into account that the waves reflect from the walls of the basin, this can be a very interesting question.
Here's how the gameplay looks like (gif)
(can't post the images, sorry, but I expect you imagine the idea )
During the post-jam week I completed the game and now I'm ready for release.
Among the new features there are:
various waves shapes (triangle, square, etc)
sounds of real ocean waves which accompany your play
cellular grid to help you aim better
scoring system
storage of player's score history
You are welcome to check the game and share your suggestions. It can be downloaded from PlayMarket, if you find it by query "Emitter: launch the waves"
Tools used:
Flash Develop - IDE
Starling - graphics engine
Enhance - quick ads and analytis integration (it took me 3 minutes to integrate the banner, interlevel ads and retention measuring)
Physics engine is of my own

Thank you
I hope I'll contribute to some interesting gamedev threads soon to get the required number of posts to post the links.
Do you love a dynamic game puzzles? "Three in row" games are a kind of oldest puzzle ones. It's hundreds such games on the Google play market. Try enter "Diamond" or "Jewel" search word in the search edit box. You will see dozens of games as a result. Each one has an amazing special effects. A huge part of it does not require any thinking. Just make a moves and level will be passed. And many people love it. But it's not interesting for those, who prefers a logical tasks. The are some aspects of a puzzle game to be interested.
1. A player must have a several way of the next move. But it may causes confusing if possible moves are too much.
2. A game must provides a way to return to the previous position. It can be save \ load or back move function.
3. The variety of special game figures raises interest to a game. Classic "three in row" game does not attract players at present. It may be the most interest to get an extra move in a game.
4. A game position could be calculated some steps ahead. A game will lose thinking matter if player can't imagine a game position after next 2-3 moves.
The author is followed this principles in the free Android game "Diamond combinations".
Game brief
The game consist of 8х8 square game board and 8x4 square incoming diamonds area over it. Each level begin with some glassed diamonds. To pass level you need explode all glassed diamonds. Level is over when all glasses is broken or move limit is expired. The glass is trying to be restored in the cell of breaking. A player need to break glasses in series to prevent glass restoring. He has to prepare a move sequence to do that.
Many variant of the next move
The 8х8 game board provide enough count of possible moves. The situation of any available move is very very seldom.
A possibility to return to previous game position
This feature is not available in the most part of existent "three in row" games. The author didn't find any of it with save \ load or back move function. A player won't revert to previous position if wrong move has been done. Also he won't start level from the last game position. This functions add some comfort in the "Diamond combinations" game.
Special figures
Special figures were designed for more move variants. It expands classic tree-in-row opportunities. There are game figures listed below.
- A Gun can explode any glass or diamond on the game board.
- A Star can explode all diamonds with a color of the chosen diamond.
- A Lightening can add lightening to any non glassed diamond.
- A Brush can repaint any non glassed diamond to a color of the selected diamond.
- A Snowflake can freeze glassed diamonds. So glass restoring process will be stopped on Snowflake's life count moves.
Special figures have own lives. This means a figure can be used life count ones. Life count can be increased by exchanging figure with lightening or other figure.
Combination preparing
The incoming diamonds area is designed to stay some steps ahead. A player can see what 4 diamonds will fall next in columns. Also it's very easy to combine in the game with back move function. To pass a game level a player has to construct sequence of moves. Otherwise glasses will be recreated very fast.
At addition the game is lightweight. So, there is any delay while playing.
A game can be found on Google play market by the "Diamond combinations" search phrase.
