Azpen A1040 UnBrick Help - General Questions and Answers

Hello, my tablet is not loaded. Find the firmware in the network fails, the official website did not meet me. Maybe someone already faced with the need to flash this device? I would be very grateful for the advice and / or firmware!
Sorry for my english ((
Specs:
MT8127
1G RAM
8G ROM
1024x600 10,1 inch lcd
dual camera (0.3 front, 2.0 rear)
**If someone can shoot a full dump using SP FlashTool joint venture, I will be very grateful!

I have a firmware, but i don't have 10 posts =(

Mission Complete =)
I found firmware in the Chinese cloud. I suffer a couple of hours downloaded it. The firmware of the original Azpen A1040!

Bricked Azpen A1040
I recently came into possession of an A1040 which would not complete a boot. I launched it in Recovery Mode (+ Volume, Power) and checked the boot status. It came back with several files missing.
I've been on the hunt for replacement files and I tried the files you provided, zero1212 (I unpacked the .rar and repacked it as a zip, as well as copied over the files unpacked). While the system can see the .zip and the expanded folders on the SD card, it will not load them from the Recovery Mode.
Kingo Root was suggested in another forum. Their PC Root links no longer respond, and they've been removed from cnet.download.com.
At this point, I'm ready to crack the thing open and desolder any interesting bits. Before I do, are there any alternatives to get a working OS on this thing?

Unfortunately, I can offer you only a complete reinstallation of the system. This can be done via SP FlashTool. Also, my previous attempts were made to port TWRP to this device. Alas, they were not successful.

A complete reinstall would be fine with me! I'll look into SP Flashtool when I get back home tonight. Thank you. Will it make use of the files you provided above, or do I need different data?

I laid out the archive is designed just for SP FlashTool. Extract the files from it, and specify in SP FlashTool the path to the scatter file. Suggest to read carefully the instruction for SP FlashTool, which can be found on the Internet, because the program has several modes of flashing.

I hope you manage to recover the tablet. =)

This method necessary!
If the device is not loaded and not firmware in other ways! (If you downloaded the wrong firmware in the device)
I took the unpacked program files KDZ and added to them NVFlash and created BAT file!
Download ROM: http://www.mediafire.com/?wfokxjxi7rfoaey
Mirror: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=C5LBU3DS
Download APX driver: http://www.mediafire.com/?k559zgjlqkd5ted
Installation Instructions:
Download both files
Unpack it to the C drive to their respective folder
Remove the battery
Hold Vol Up/Down (and keep them held)
Insert the USB cable
Install APX driver from the your APX folder
For windows 7(and vista? please confirm):
Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error
Right click on the APX device
Select 'Update driver software'
Select 'Let me pick...'
Select 'Have disk'
Browse to directory you extracted the APX Driver
Select the *entire* 'APX Driver' folder
Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC)
Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat
Unplug everything
Hold Vol Up/Down (and keep them held)
Insert USB cable
open your ROM folder:
Run Flash.bat file and wait for the process
After the logo appears on the LG phone
Unplug USB cable
Insert the battery
enjoy!
After that, I recommend to firmware device with help programms KDZ or LG Mobile Update
I'm confused as to what this is? I'm guessing stock rom flash through nv flash? Kind of like odin for samsung phones?

Can't wait to check this out when I get home later. Regarding the kdz file, what exactly were you able to unpack from it? I've been able to extract 2 files (a very large .wbd file and a .dll file) but I couldn't figure out how to unpack them further, specifically the .wdb file.

Can you post the DLL for the G2X so we can use the LG Utilities to unpack KDZ files for this device please. So far we have been unable to get the proper DLL that enables us to unpack these files. If you unpacked the KDZ you must have the DLL unless you used another method to extract the files from the KDZ. Please elaborate on how you accomplished this. Both phburks and I have been working on this and so far we have had no success.

It is for people that have mucked up their phones to the point where LG Updater and KDZ Flash are not possible. This can be caused by many issues including, but not limited to, people flashing the O2X baseband to a G2X device. This method is purported to flash the entire Gingerbread ROM at the lowest possible hardware level. Hopefully this method is legit, but nobody has confirmed they have done it yet with the exception of the OP. Yes it is similar to ODIN for the Samsung but operating at an even lower level. With the NVFlash capability Tegra2 devices are virtually unbrickable.

Yes. It is almost as good as JTAG flashing the device. For Galaxy S devices using ODIN you still have to have the 'software download' mode working in the ROM and it is possible to brick a Galaxy S beyond the point of even getting this mode to be accessible leaving you the only way to fix the device through disassembling it and flashing via the JTAG pads. Using the NVFlash method you are flashing directly to the hardware through they Hynix flashing chip. I had another phone with a similar capability (I-Mobile i858 - Yuhua Touchstone device) and no matter how badly I F'd it up (I was developing custom roms for it) I had the similar low level flashing tool that could reflash the phone to stock so I could start over with a clean slate. If this method is legit, this is a big boon to the dev community for this device.

So you got them after the LG Updater extracted the KDZ into its component files. phburks and I didn't get that far as we didn't want to connect our already updated devices to the updater. To get to the point you did where you could grab the individual files you would have had to click the start update button. Good work.
I have 7-zip on my computer but I am unable to open up the file I just downloaded. Can you put it in another format and upload to megaupload or mediafire please? I don't want to go through that Russian site again as I got an invalid download. Also, please post the baseband file as a separate download.

What we really need is for someone to tell us how to create the config files for NVFlash so we can flash the baseband only. The new baseband is there and named 'P999_MDM.bin' if I am remembering correctly. No reason to flash an entire ROM when all someone wants is the updated baseband. If we can get the older baseband file also this tool could be used to revert the baseband also, if someone wanted to do that.

You don't have to buy anything. You just click on one sponsor site and it opens a new window. Thirty seconds later it will enable a download link. You need to click download two or three times if I remember correctly. I am at work now. I can mirror it in about ten hours if nobody else has done it yet. I looked at the files briefly and it looks legit.
Is this supposed to have a command interface? Or are you still typing in commands yourself?

Good question - that is what I am looking for rather then having to mess with the nvflash commands directly.
Update - this setup is similar to Paul's stock ROM recovery setup on modeco.com. As with his, you only have to "Run Flash.bat file and wait for the process". When I could not get off of the LGupdater screen by any other means, I ran this file from his post and it ran flawlessly - but of course I ended up with a 990's device. I tried to get back with other tools and firmware, but was never able to do it.
If this works OK, you would be able to restore your data, apps, or a nandroid and you are back in business.
I spent a week trying to restore my original (and best device as it turns out), so I am not going to fool with this right now myself. I did compare the config files from bot Paul's and this firmware and they are different - which looks real promising, as they are different.
HELP! I tried to use this and the tool failed, now I am getting ZERO response from the device. I can't even boot to APX. I'm freaking out right now!
EDIT: I managed to get the process restarted and the phone is in the process of rebooting. Hoping for the best.
EDIT 2: Phone booted up and it was all restored but for some reason the baseband was not updated :\
Did you run by using the flash.bat file? Did you hold volume up and down for the entire flash process?

Did you have old of new baseband on before flashing? What was the state of your G2X before running this?
UPDATE: It appears that this works - but would like to 100% confirm. After all the disasters that occurred from running the LGupdater tool, this would be an important fix and should be stickied at some point. Current members know of the updater problems, but new buyers and member may not - so many may still have this problem down the road.
Therefore, I believe this is an important enough item to bring to closure and make readily available.
U saved my phone's life
THANK YOU THANK YOU
followed instructions restored completley to stock just like how i got phone out of box 2 weeks ago.
I was running eaglesblood v8 and had altered the vold.fstab file to switch mounts
from sdcard to internal and after that point i rebooted and media scanner said damaged sd card well i figured it just to be like an extension of a permission of sorts. and thought if formated it would the paths would switch no problem.
im actually kind of having a hard time rembering exactly what steps i did take to **** it up royally. but went into clockwork 5 to flash another rom from internal storage or same i cant rember now and did factory reset then all hell broke loose .
couldnt mount nothing except for system i tried formating sd card even though i dont have one probally ended up formating internal lol. formated system,
re flashed all recoverie versions including stock. i was getting so mad i called google HA by the way they got some pretty good music when u have to hold.
only thing i didnt try was to load up a rom on sd card and mount that but i really doubt it would have worked and plus i couldnt even use phone to do it lol
i need to go buy drive saved me some serious cash I would say this should be enough confirmation!!

Custom ROM for THL W1+

I hope I've posted this in the correct place. Apologies if not... I'm sure a moderator will move to correct place.
Hi everyone,
I’d like to share my THL W1+ custom ROM with you all.
It is based on a CJ ROM which I believe is the international ROM version.
Natively, the CJ ROM had some benefits over the stock standard Chinese THL ROM such as not showing Chinese cities in call log etc.
I cant remember all of the tweaks I've made in this custom ROM as it was "cooked" over an extended period of time but here are a few…
Google Apps working and upgraded
Default IME keyboard upgraded
Removed Chinese Apps and input methods
Removed factory reset option from settings to prevent reboot loop (use custom recovery to reset)
Improved screen brightness
updater-script changes for Wi-Fi fix
Included Facebook, Skype and Flash in DATA partition (can be uninstalled)
build.prop changes: font size, English language is default, time zone default to Pacific/Auckland
Download and use at your own risk. No responsibility is taken for damage done to your phone through using this ROM.
I’ve included in this download package everything I can think of that you'll need including the CJ ROM, a version of SP Flash Tool, the update.zip file, zip files to root and unroot the phone plus ADB and VCOM drivers.
The all-inclusive package can be downloaded from here…
http://www.mediafire.com/?p08zo4jwypz23
It is split into four compressed files. Use software such as 7zip to uncompress.
#1 First, flash your phone via SP Flash Tools with the stock CJ ROM. I’ve added a custom recovery to the ROM which you will require later to install the update.zip file.
If you do not know how to flash your phone here is a great tutorial... http://bm-smartphone-reviews.blogspot.co.nz/2012/05/mt6575-flashing-tutorial.html
#2 Once you have successfully flashed the CJ ROM you need to install the update.
Copy the update.zip file to your microSD card or power on the phone and copy to internal storage.
Remove your battery and reinsert it.
Hold down the Vol+ button and power on. You should boot into recovery mode.
Now using your volume keys you can select the update from zip option (power button is select). Choose the update.zip file you copied to your phone and confirm.
Wait for the update to complete and then reboot.
That should be it!
Hope you enjoy this ROM.
Invalid imei
I install your rom and is perfect. i manage to unbrick my W1+ with this rom. only the imei is invalid and i cant restore them. i see a folder named imei drivers (something like that ) in your pachage. how i can use them to restore the imei. i tried meny tutorials from the net but still nothing
thanks for your time
Aris
Hello, it is good to hear people are using the ROM.
I think the folder you are referring to is one inside the DRIVERS folder and simply contains CDC driver files.
I've not had any IMEI issues on the W1+ so can't speak from experience but I would suggest trying the following...
ROOT the phone using the root update.zip in the package.
Download MTK Droid Tool... http://www.mediafire.com/download/a41a0u73dc7rw2h/MtkDroidTools_v248.zip
MTK Droid Tool has a Write IMEI function.
Once your phone is rooted make sure USB debugging is turned on (Settings > Developer options).
Failing that, another option would be to download Mobile Uncle Tools from Google Play. Again, this requires root privileges and you'll need to connect to a Wifi network as your SIM's are not working. I understand this app also has IMEI tools.
Hopefully this works for you.

[Completed] [Q] Want Original ROM For Bingo FutureStar - FS1.

Anyone, please give me link to download ROM for FS1.
It is new company, available only at snapdeal.
I really want it as soon as possible.
Please anyone help me.
Well i couldn't find anything for that device at all. Not even a root method on xda which you will need.
However I did find this thread which indicates that someone may have found root (likely outside of xda). You may want to contact him and see how he found root.
If you want you can learn to build your own rom by visiting XDA University
You can also ask for help in this thread here
Good luck
Take backup of ROM as soon as you root it.

I am the guy who created the post about partition tables. There is an application which needs to be installed to root the phone. This phone hardware is good but it contains adwares. Phone will install unwanted apps automatically. I had rooted my phone and removed that adware permanently. I will post the app in a while, i need to find it.
There are no ROMS available for this phone. I wanted to create my own ROM, so i created one. The biggest mistake i did was, i tried to increase the internal apps memory by adding the extra space from internal sdcard by repartitioning partition tables. I had taken a backup of ROM via CWM but i messed the partition tables in phone. I recreated them, but still nothing works. Now my phone is dead until that company releases the original ROM, flashable via SP Flash Tools.
My advice to you : first thing you should do is take a backup of your ROM, not CWM, but flashable via SP TOOLS. If anything goes wrong, SP flash tool can bring a complete dead phone to life if you have the firmware.
If you are ready to root, just reply back, i will post all links and tutorials.

Kiwami Samurai FTU152D stock Lollipop 5.1, Root and Xposed, Help and Tips

This post is to help users who have accidentally or on purpose tried to upgrade to Android 6.0 on their Kiwami Samurai FTU152D using software for FTJ152D (Japanese version of phone), and to help with root and installing Xposed on your phone. There is a risk of getting the phone stuck on boot screen if a user uses certain versions of SuperSU. If you searched the net and found this thread, and are still on Stock Rom for your FTU152D, Do not Upgrade until you have read this thread. Upgrading by flashing a rom using SP Flash Tool you risk losing your IMEI information in the phone forever. I am going to write this thread with an assumption that reader has upgraded the software in their phone using the Japanese Firmware. You can read through and use this thread based on your situation and if confused, better to ask questions on the thread than trying something on your own. I do not take any responsibility if you brick or hard brick your phone, so please be careful and do not just randomly flash things without full understanding, confused? ask questions.
Note #1: First and Foremost, Be careful to not flash a preloader.bin file in your phone from other phone models. You run the risk of permanently bricking your phone. Use the correct preloader made for your phone.
Note#2: Make at least a 5 GB backup dump of your phone using SP Flash Tool 'Read Back' tab before you attempt root or other customizations on your phone. This can be done using the scatter file from stock rom of FTJ152D Android 6.0 available at needrom website at:
https://www.needrom.com/download/freetel-samurai-kiwami-ftj152d/
You will need to input scatter file in the download tab before SP Flash tool will allow you to do a 'Read Back' dump of your phone. Be very careful when attempting this and do not accidently download (the whole reason of this thread and my troubles is because I did exactly that). In 'Read Back' tab, you can click on 'Add', name the raw dump, and add the starting address (that will be 0 of course) and make the length equivalent of at least 5 gigabytes, make sure that you have selected the 'EMCC_USER' as your region. Use 'Add' to add another 'Read Back', this time for preloader (in boot_1 region). You can open the scatter.txt file from the rom you downloaded earlier to see how long this 'Read Back' needs to be. Next, click on 'Read Back' to start the backup dump, power off and connect your phone via usb to the computer. (You may need the VCOM drivers, if the phone is not detected by SP Flash Tool or you keep getting errors, search for the driver online or download it from the needrom website, same page where the rom is (link above). Keep these two dump files safe as these are effectively your backup in case you mess up your phone.
ROOT and Xposed:
If on lollipop there are at least couple of options to root using kingroot (personally dislike) and others. If on Marshmallow, you can use my posts in this thread to root using Magisk:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/how-to-root-freetel-kiwami-samurai-t3610015
Recover from Japanese firmware and/or Going back to Lollipop:
In case you have flashed the Japanese firmware and now have problems using the phone and want to go back to FTU152D stock rom (Android 5.1) with correct baseband, use the attached file (mega link below) with SP Flash Tool. First, find an nvram.bin file online compatible for mtk6795 chipset or look at this page as you can download a nvram.bin from there:
https://afterroot.wordpress.com/2015/07/22/mtk-restore-nvram-bin/
***Very Important Note*** Nvram.bin file as the one on the above website will fix your phone, especially the baseband (all the better if you made a backup using the method mentioned in Note#2 above, you can use the scatter file and hex editor (such as HxN from download.cnet.com) to cut out the nvram.bin and secro.img (need both to restore imei and baseband) partition file from the raw dump) but the IMEI numbers will be specific to the nvram.bin file you use (and this is why i didn't provide my backup nvram file, but i did provide secro.img as it contains baseband info), and using wrong imei number with your phone may not be legal. If you use the file from the above website, your IMEI numbers will be specific to that file and you MUST change your IMEI numbers to your original numbers using a number of apps or other methods available online, just search the web.
You should unzip the rom zip from this link:
https://mega.nz/#!1v4GUaBC!Wj4JW6fZkxNB-ZISrdPmBcR_hu_XSu9NoCrnOKYMdYo
that I put together by dicing raw dump of my phone using SP Flash Tool and putting together some of the files from the MM folder. Some of these files may not be needed for a successful installation but i just wanted to be sure because I had issue with some folders not being visible in the phone's internal memory. Make sure you insert an nvram.bin file in the rom folder before proceeding otherwise your phone sims will be greyed out, choose the scatter file in the folder with SP Flash Tool download tab, and use 'format all + download' option in download tab, click on 'Download', power off the phone and attach to PC via USB cable. Once download is done, power up your phone and you are done. Now you can root and install xposed, and fix your IMEI numbers if they are wrong using the tips and link provided above if like.
I am trying to get a custom recovery to work with this phone but so far because there is no touch in recovery mode, TWRP doesn't work. If anyone have been able to install or use custom recovery, please share your experience and help out others. Thanks.
If anyone have internal phone storage not showing DCIM, Alarm, Ringtones, and other folders, make sure you don't have an SD card in the phone, do full factory reset after flashing, go to storage settings and make sure the internal phone storage is selected for write to memory, then insert SD card in the phone. That fixed this issue for me. It is just how this phone is setup that you have to select internal phone storage or external sd card for where the stuff gets stored.
Another fix that worked for me was to remove SD card from phone, format whole flash except bootloader in format tab first, flash all files except userdata.img and cache.img in download mode, and then make sure you go directly to stock recovery at first power on (hold volume up while powering up the phone), wipe cache and wipe data/factory reset, and then allowing the phone to boot up the first time.
Another tip for other Kiwami Samurai users i wanted to share is that both Freetel roms (5.1 & 6.0) come pre-installed on either variant of phone with 3 potential malware or PUPs that i just detected using Malwarebytes (see screenshot). I wouldn't have expected this from a Japanese smartphone manufacturer. These are installed as system apps and require root and an app like Titanium Backup to freeze and/or remove these. 'Debloater' app by Gatesjunior on xda forums can also remove these.
Thank you for the thread.
I have this phone, the US version FTU152D.
From what I can find on XDA and other places. there is no update to Marshmellow available for the US version. Can you confirm?
I see your methods above. I am thinking of flashing stock ROM to the phone to clean up some issues. Think of it as a clean install.
Thank you,

Onda v820w ch v3, dual boot, win 10 64 bit home + android 5.1 (files, instructions)

Hi guys,
I bought this tablet at the end of 2016. I played a lot with it, about 2 years. I sold it at the end of 2018.
These days i try to make some space in my hard drive, so i delete some files.
I have downloaded on 2016 many things about this tablet. Even now, Onda's official site is in Chinese and i saw that Onda Forum is down.
So i decided to upload here my experience, some instructions and service files about this tablet.
I will upload the files i have not at once, so before asking questions wait a little.
Enjoy
P.S : Sorry, now i saw that there is a limit on the size of files that a member can upload !! I wanted to upload the Original ROMS of this tablet (they are some GBs !!).
Please put the instructions
Hello,
I appreciate your good will gesture. I am interested in reinstalling the os on such a tablet ( I think mine is v5) and I can't find instructions and files for windows only the V820W_DUALOS_V5_32_1605279_20160602.zip(after windwos 10 reset I can't boot windows ,works only on Android). Hope you will continue, thanks.
Found solution to recover Windows 10 on tablet but lost Android
Hello , after some more search I found an interesting russian forum with many download links for this tablet. Here is a download link that contains many of the necessary files for Onda v820w from there:
........
For my case (tablet was reseted from windows options I presume, and was not able to boot anymore just some automatic repair started but did not work) , making a NTFS bootable disk with rufus and copied all the windows files from 10_V3.rar found in the download link provided and choosing ->"System image recovery"->then something about boot from EFI usb drive I remember. And it worked, it managed to reinstall windows and make it boot again by itself.
After succeeding this I became more confident and tried to update the Android form this tablet from 4.4 to 5 as I saw it has everything we need in the above link. After trying different versions of Manufacturing flash tool and Intel drivers for this tablet I managed to connect to it and make it take the provided image with Android 5 from fastboot menu when connected to laptop with the flash tool.
The only problem is it said it does not have enough space to flash system.img at around 84% on the Manufacturing flash tool loading bar. (strange as the tablet is empty, nothing on it, just default software).
Now Android does not boot anymore (haha, fixed something destroyed something).
The questions are:
-Can and how to use the other Android 5 images I found on the russian forum ? They are different type of backup files (with system.ext4.win type of files not .img files that the manufacturing flash tool expects).
From what I've read they are TWRP generated backups but my tablet has the default recovery.
-Can I convert the TWRP files to .img ?
-I found an TWRP recovery for this tablet (I hope) but I am not sure that if I flash the TWRP recovery it will not mess with the windows partitions already working on this tablet...
Here are the files I found and some english step by step tutorial for flashing the Android and a spanish tutorial for the Windows part of this tablet, on my google drive:
......
Edit: "To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!"
So I cannot post yet the links to images and the files but if somebody is interested I will sent in private massage. (If I will remember about this post in a few months , pretty lame the anti-spam rule...) Now I understand why who initiated this thread abandoned it...
RE: Links to Onda v820w windows files
Hi Olaruci,
I seem to have a similar problem to the one you and POWERSER have had. Please can you assist with the download links for this tablet. I can't boot the tablet into Android or Windows, only the system recovery option is available to me and it doesn't work.
Thanks :good:

Download links Onda v820w
Hello Grimm1,
I've sent the download links in private message.
I still did not manage to flash any of the system.img files ( I tried to unzip system.ext4.win images and change extension to .img but it's not working, not valid).
So I've changed the original recovery.img with the TWRP recovery found in the download link, and it works.
Now I have TWRP but with a small problem, it's in russian... now I try to find a way to change language (it's the materialized theme of TWRP 2.8 , and it seems it does't have a change language option)
Also windows 10 on PC needs latest versions of:
- Manufacturing flash tool (6.051)
- IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.10.0
- iSocUSB-Driver-Setup-1.0.4 or 1.0.5 (I THINK THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT to have latest version FOR THE MANUFACTURING FLASH TOOL TO SEE THE TABLET)
Also only connect tablet to laptop usb(in fastboot mode) AFTER opening manufacturing flash tool and AFTER selecting xml file and message "ready to flash" appears.
Hi,
I'm using an Onda v820w dual OS. I like this tablet and its dual OS capability.
I'm trying for days to find a way to change a few things but ondaforum is down so it's not easy now.
Once I succede I will give links and steps.
A first link where there is a lot to download : http://chinagadgetsreviews.blogspot.com/search?q=v820w&x=0&y=0
/!\ WARNING /!\ I did not test any of the software found on the link above so don't blame me if it screw your devices.
The first step was to install TWRP to be able to flash Android 5 instead of 4.4. The one I use is in russian for the moment so I use Google translate...
Anyway I just flashed Android 5.1 found on a russian forum a few minutes ago. For the moment the tablet is on the boot anim for at least 20mn...
I will tell you.
Need links
Hey @Olaruci can you please send me files as well?

Hi Olaruci, thanks for the link it was a lifesaver for me
I only stumbled to one problem - for some reason I can not calibrate my Touchscreen. It works, but nither the Touch PG or MS Calibration software helped me...the calibration is just off (few cm gap). Did anyone had this kind of problem and what do you think I could do to solve this problem?
Kind regards to everyone who contributed this feed....it helped a lot.
