Stuck on stuck on booting after Android update from 5 to 6. - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have big problem. My samsung stucked on booting.
Let me explain how this happened:
I tried to upgrade the phone with android 6.0.
Data on the phone was encrypted.
All gone smoothly but when I tried to turn it on its like this:
1. Can see Samsung logo
2. Can see mobile operator logo
3. Can see place to type password, after I type password it goes forward
4. Can see open lock, probably it shows that password is correct
But after that nothing happens. It stucks.
I need to get my pictures and some files, of course its not on MicroSD Card....
Another problem is that PC cannot see the device.
Any suggestion how to recover data?

Need to factroy reset phone bud.

how to do it?
Also I will lose all data, right?

With s6 edge, you could flash twrp, flash a zip file to enable storage to be mounted in recovery. Then copy the files to/from pc prior to factory reset. But yes this is an s6, not sure.

But I cannot access the phone by USB cable, so how to flash twrp, even if it works?

you have clockwork recovery right? theres an usb storage option in the recovery itself. connect it to your computer, turn on the usb storage. download a rom(and gapps) to your computer, copy/paste into the device, turn off usb storage, then flash the files in clockwork recovery. then reboot.
After you do what he said, either do alot of research about rooting, and flashing roms and kernels or sell your phone.

So I did follow your instruction. I went storage->mount usb storage->unmount(I can only select this, I try reboot the phone still give me this only option). so I also tried mount sdcard, mount system, all that.
Finlally, I got removable disk on my computer, but it show 0 byte, when i click on it, it says plz insert a disk into removeable disk. so i went click
property->hardwares->highlight Android UMS composite usb device(type: disk drive) and property. then I select driver-> and there is driver details, update driver. So do I update this driver? If so which driver?
I try to format it, it gives errorlz insert a disk into removeable disk
I have clcokworkmod recovery v5.0.2.0 and it is unrooted. thank you for the help!
I also install PDAnet into my computer but it keep saying connecting to your phone..... I try using different usb port and no luck.

By the way you just click on mount usb storage and LEAVE IT there for a few seconds. It takes a little time for the computer to recognize it usually. You only click unmount when your done...
ok i got it. now i could put files into the sd storage. Do you guys know what i need to put for stock, out-of box image?
I need to reset this to factory setting and root the phone.
I did some serach but the file needed to download is not working anymore. anyone know? thank you

Coming from someone that also finds conditions & situations similar but not precisely like my own in the multitude of answered threads..... Some of us can get to a certain point but get stuck, and since these are devices we need to work we want to be sure we don't do something to turn an expensive device into a pretty paperweight.
You learned by fiddling and asking questions did you not? If you are sick of the same old question don't answer the thread.
Sorry, I have no great advice for the OP, you aren't an idiot you are uninformed [just yet] of the proper fix for your problem. I'm still trying to fix something myself so the couple of snipes hit a nerve this morning.
I read read read and read again, its been almost a week. Good god I cant get the solution or may be i dont undderstand it. I try go to cmd prompt and "type fast boot lock" to get it rooted. No luck
my phone situation:
No back up or recovery ( I wipe all sd/back up/system)
fasboot mode-no boot or recovery img
Lock state- unlocked
can only go into clockwork mod
my Goal: lock the phone and flash it to factory stock setting.
I just own nexus s for 7 days and did a ton of research coz stuck at google X animation keep loading and install MIUI and unroot the phone. Soooo stupid of me now that I broke the warranty. Softkeys is no even working!!!!!! when i suscessfully get into the phone.
is there a proper step by step to do this? is there any expert here that can point to the right direction? I am checking this post every 5 minutes
Clearly this is too much phone for you.

Ok I'll try to help you.
According to what I gather from your posts, you've been successful in unlocking the bootloader and managed to flash CWM recovery, that's a good first step.
Your goal is still unclear. Ok, you want to re-lock the phone and 'restore to factory stock settings'? Does that mean you want a stock firmware on your phone or would you settle for a custom firmware, like Cyanogenmod or MIUI? Either way, visit the Nexus S Development forum, there's a full list of firmwares , just pick whichever you want and download that.
Here's a fantastic topic with a list of all firmwares and also plenty of links to guides:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067813
Enter CWM recovery mode (VolumeUP + Power button and select Recovery in the Bootloader options).
Go to mounts and storage. We want to mount or SDcard so we can transfer files from the PC to the SDcard as a USB mass storage device. Make sure the phone is connected through USB.
So, select the option: - mount USB Storage. Wait for a few seconds, it takes a while to get initialized by the PC.
Once it's recognized by your PC, copy the downloaded firmware to the SDcard. It should have a .zip extension and be approximately 100mb (of course depending on which flavour you picked, but that's somewhat the standard).
Once it's copied, go back in the CWM main menu and select "Install zip from sdcard". If you want, you can first wipe your cache and Dalvik cache, but since you clearly wiped everything already this shouldn't be necessary, so anyway; install zip from sdcard and select your firmware.zip file. Select it and press the power button to execute the install.
It will install the firmware plus the kernel that it's packed with, all this should be enough to get your phone booted. So reboot your phone and it should work.
Once you've successfully booted into your device, you can do whatever you like. If you want to lock the bootloader again though, you'll need to reverse the steps you took to unlock it. This is through ADB and Fastboot. But this topic explains it step by step and in detail, all credits to the OP: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875630).
If the bootloader is locked again, you shouldn't have any issues with the warranty. It's a Nexus...
Some of your posts were a bit contradictory so I can only assume what your current status is with your phone.
Maybe you should also understand what everything means and does instead of blindy formatting disks and running random commands. Learn what ADB is, learn what Fastboot does. See how the bootloader works and where the recovery comes in, read up on the different firmwares and what kernels do. It might seem like a big investment of your time, but it will help you understand the boot process of the Nexus.
Good luck,
Greetz

[Q] Phone can't access storage

All of a sudden, no apps on my phone can access the storage, any app that needs to just gives an error.
In recovery mode, if i try and format the cache partition, it can't access the drive and if i try via USB all i get is a few screenshots i have taken since this started happening, which are 0kb.
Any ideas? Thanks!

It's not common at all, but a bad file or maybe a virus can corrupt the storage. Did you unlock your bootloader? If not then do a factory reset + wipe storage in settings. Or unlock your bootloader because that does the same thing

I can do a factory reset, i think. Some apps do seem to work, like hangouts, if the storage is corrupt, how does hangouts access messages?

That means part of the storage is corrupt, but the fact that you cant access it means it's no use but to wipe it to prevent further problems

Okay, the reset button in settings didnt do anything at all (tried several times), so i went into recovery mode and tried to format the phone there instead. It started but never finished, now my phone will not turn on, it just shows the colorful loading animation forever.

wiping through stock recovery takes its own sweet time which maybe b/w 30 min to an hour, so you got to have patience for it, try it once more if it doesn't work flash the factory images

Oneplus One Freezing On Startup

He there, just recently my phone had an update and i said yes to it. After the update completed It rebooted but never started back up.
When turned on, it just get up to the OnePlus One logo screen and stays there. I have tried a factory reset as I can access the recovery menu but the factory reset doesn't seem to do anything. I let the battery drain until the phone died and then charged it but it still will not start. Plugging it into my PC lets it charge but it does not let you access the storage. Its not a driver problem as it was working fine before the update.
I have tried fast boot but it just gets stuck on the fast boot screen.
I tried using OnePlus One Toolkit but it cant find the phone
I have read that I need to flash it but it would seem I need to transfer a file onto the phone but nothing recognizes the phone to transfer it to.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,

Your persist partition might be corrupt. Grab this:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B98G0KTJwnBFUnJCNldodGs2dE0/view?usp=docslist_api
Then do this with fastboot:
Code:
fastboot erase persist
fastboot flash persist persist.img
Didn't work sadly. Maybe I should just flash everything?

Looking for help...

I have a Verizon Galaxy S6 that keeps rebooting. It will allow me to get to the home screen for about 30-45 seconds before it reboots again. During that very short interval, I was able to turn on developer options in settings. With another reboot, I was able to quickly accept ADB permissions from my laptop. I am getting ready to RMA the device, but first I need to get my pictures off. I tried installing TWRP so that I can do a backup, but the device is NOT rooted, and the DM security will not let me install a new recover image. The phone will stay on forever when in bootloader mode, but fastboot cannot "see" any attached devices. Is there any other way to get to my device's hard drive when this thing won't stay on long enough?
Any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Download the exact same stock firmware you are currently on from Sammobile.com that way you almost eliminate your chances of a bootloop
for your device and flash it in odin in ap /pda slot as long as you don't wipe in recovery or do a nand erase your data should still be there

did not work...turns out the harddrive is bad. device doesn't even stay on long enough to boot up after the firmware install. even opened it up and swapped out the battery. ended up resetting to factory default, which also did not complete successfully, cause the device keeps rebooting and doesn't stay on long enough for the reset to complete....
thanks anyway.

Nexus 5 bootloop, stuck in Rom intro - Don't know how to connect it to my pc

First of all, I'm pretty noob this days on Android so I'm very sorry guys, also english is not my first language.
My nexus was working great until today. I ended a Whatsapp Call and get a black screen, phone looks frozen (happened before). Reboot it and works fine for 5-10 minutes, after that it started to reboot itself the whole time in bootlop, stuck in the rom intro, after the Google text. My rom is one of the very first roms from Slim Roms, I'm sorry I don't remember the Android Version, but is "old".
I can access to the recovery mode tho. I tried to wipe dalvik cache and the TWRP failed, wipe and factory reset, fail as well... I don't know what else to do. I don't have any image to install in the sd, or any backup. Windows 10 recognize an "android" but can't access to it so I can't copy any file to it.
Is my phone dead or can I do something? I love this phone :crying:
Any help please? I tried using ADB and get to copy some files into the phone but still every time I try to do a wipe cache, factory reset or what ever I get a Unable to mount Data / Cache / Storage... every time the same error.
I google it and found that some people could fix that error by repairing the file system and select ext4. But I can't do that, my TWRP build is quite old (v2.6.3.4) and doesn't have that option here. Any suggestions?
Thanks btw
Me again
I've been reading forums for more than 7 hours today and trying different solutions, and nothing. But found this guy here https://androidforums.com/threads/is-my-nexus-5-dead.1099076/
He basically had the same issue as me few years ago, exactly the same, He didn't find any luck apparently.
How is it possible that a phone that can get access to TWRP or copy/flash files via ADB/Fastboot can't be saved? Theoretically in this case this is not a hard bricked, right? So? This is so so weird
It's possible that portions of the internal memory are damaged.
The only thing left to try is flash a stock ROM using ADB commands. I recommend trying a KK ROM.
No OS but twrp working
Hello friend.
If I have understood your problem correctly then you have twrp working but no os.
I found that there is an option in twrp to enable MTP. once you do that you will be able to access it. While the phone is in recovery mode connect it to the computer and it will get recognized and you can transfer zip file to it and then flash a new os.
Cheers!

Also tried that: new rom+ gapps via usb adb and the TWRP says Failed...
I mean I still have OS because every single time I try to turn on my phone the animation screen of the Slim Rom goes in. The problem is I can't install anything new, no new rom, no factory image, no new version of TWRP, I can't wipe data or cache or do a factory reset because I get a big red Failed always. Feelsbad

Try this: lock the bootloader and reboot back into the bootloader. If the bootloader remains locked, that's a good sign. If the bootloader is unlocked, that is a bad sign.

Shieeeet... So nothing to do I guess? I already ordered a new phone but if I can save this beauty would be great
It would be great to fix it but the simplest solution may be to buy a nexus 5 with a smashed screen and working motherboard. I've done this before and it's worked out well because the nexus 5 is pretty old by today's phone standards so I got it cheap.
hmm not a bad idea at all. Thank you!
