Oneplus One Freezing On Startup - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

He there, just recently my phone had an update and i said yes to it. After the update completed It rebooted but never started back up.
When turned on, it just get up to the OnePlus One logo screen and stays there. I have tried a factory reset as I can access the recovery menu but the factory reset doesn't seem to do anything. I let the battery drain until the phone died and then charged it but it still will not start. Plugging it into my PC lets it charge but it does not let you access the storage. Its not a driver problem as it was working fine before the update.
I have tried fast boot but it just gets stuck on the fast boot screen.
I tried using OnePlus One Toolkit but it cant find the phone
I have read that I need to flash it but it would seem I need to transfer a file onto the phone but nothing recognizes the phone to transfer it to.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,

Your persist partition might be corrupt. Grab this:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B98G0KTJwnBFUnJCNldodGs2dE0/view?usp=docslist_api
Then do this with fastboot:
Code:
fastboot erase persist
fastboot flash persist persist.img

Didn't work sadly. Maybe I should just flash everything?

Yeah, it's worth a shot. You can find full instructions in section 8 of my guide here:

Yay!
It worked, thanks a lot!

Fixing a bricked Nexus S

I had a Vibrant before and flashed it constantly. I soft bricked it several time and it was easy just to Odin back to stock and try again. Before I begin to flash Roms on this phone I would like to know how one would fix a bricked Nexus S. I searched "bricked Nexus S" and didn't come up with much.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Flash a stock img thru fastboot/adb. Just as painless as Odin was if not easier.
Sent from my Nexus S
Yeah I figured that much but I have never used ADB before. What are the commands to flash a stock img and where can I get a stock img? I already have ADB set up, serial # comes up when I enter - adb devices. I'm ready to root and flash but I want to be prepared for anything. I don't want to panic for ten minutes like I did the first time I bricked my Vibrant.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
You should be able to snag a stock image from the development section. As far as what adb commands to use check out any of the root tutorials in development.

That's why I love this phone. When I first rooted my wife's phone she was a nervous wreck about me ruining it. Now, she jokingly cheers when it boot loops or hangs on the google splash screen.

Hi Everyone.
I have my Nexus S for a 3 days - it's brand new. Last night i turned it off. It was about 50% charged. Today i can't turn it on. Phone is dead. What's wrong? There is no any response, even during charging (black screen).
Phone wasn't rooted. It has Android 2.3.2 update.
What can I do?

not enough information is present. you can attempt to get into bootloader / recovery, plug USB to the computer. When plugged, does the computer make a plugged in noise? if it does.. try turning it on, try using adb on it, etc.
as a last resort: if its not rooted or modified in any way, you can go back to best buy and exchange it since you said you've only had it for 3 days

First thing to do is pull the battery, let it sit a minute or two, then put the battery back in and try to boot.
Also, try booting into recovery or fastboot. With power off, press and hold volume up button, then press/hold power on switch. You should enter fastboot mode. From fastboot menu, select boot to recovery. The phone will reboot and you'll get to a screen with an "!" and an android robot on it. At that point you press hold power, then press/hold volume up (make note that this is the reverse of what you did earlier).
Once in Recovery, try wiping cache from the menu.
Reboot.
If still no good, then repeat the process but pick factory reset/wipe from the menu in recovery. Note that this will wipe all personal data and apps off the phone but it won't touch your sdcard contents.
The case with pull battery - not working.
I can't enter fastmode using 2 keys combination.

Last option is to try to trick it into Samsung's Download Mode (see the Odin thread in Development section), but if the keys aren't recognized you can't soft boot into it so you'll need a dongle with a resistor to get there.
Sounds like it's truly a brick at this point. You'll probably have to return it, but I'm concerned about returning a phone that has your personal data on it without being able to wipe it. Doesn't seem like much way around that at this point if you can't get fastboot or download.
get the 301k resistor JIG and then you can go into the download mode even without the 2 keys + usb plug
you can always make your own JIG if you have the materials at home or a nearby Radio shack
Thx for all Your advices
Problem was with the dead battery. The battery died during the night - i don't know why. I think the system waren't able to boot up ant start charging process.
My solution:
I took 9V battery, 2 wires and charged dead battery for a while from 9V battery. Then a put it into phone and plug in to wall charger. Charging process started
Now everything is ok
That's pretty scary that it wouldnt take a charge if run down completelty. But hey handy to know incase it happens to any of us,
If you get any repeat i would take it back to get a fresh battery of course (only right to do so).
here's hoping you never need to though

Bricked
Tried unlocking nexus s last night, now it appears bricked. Cannot connect to computer to reflash as it seems to have wiped the driver. Any ideas on how to bring it back from the dead? thanks
I have managed to see the phone with fastboot. I was hoping that fastboot update, would re-image the brick. Can anyone let me know the correct syntax. I am not able to copy an image onto the phone. Thanks again
Noob {MAC User}... Please be gentle
Greetings Everyone,
Okay, so I endeavoured to root my phone last night and was successful. I ran into trouble when the clockwork recovery and superuser permissions kept getting removed each time I reboot.
Now, I'm at the Google splash screen with no way to move forward. I'm a mac user and I don't really get the adb thing. Got adb to work with mac from a youtube video, but still not sure what commands to run.
What I've done so far:
- wiped cache
- wiped/factory data reset
- retraced my steps by using terminal to setup superuser permission from this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=927838)
What I think:
- maybe in all of my clicks I removed the ROM, so the phone doesn't have a ROM to work with.
This maybe a really infantile conclusion, but I know there's a solution (had a rooted G1 that I flashed all the time and thought I bricked once but was able to get it back to stock).
Eagerly waiting for a reply... no cell phone if this can't be fixed.

It would be easier to help you if we knew exactly what you did that caused the problem. You said you tried to unlock it...you mean fastboot oem unlock or something else?
If you can get into fastboot, you're not totally lost, but the computer needs to see the phone to do it.
I'm working in a vacuum here on what your real problem is, but without further details, the things you can try are boot into recovery (from the fastboot mode select boot recovery)...if you're stock recovery, press/hold power, then volume up once you see the android "!". From there wipe cache and whatever else it will let you wipe. Try rebooting. IF that didn't work go back to recovery and try a factory reset of the phone (will delete all your apps and stuff on the phone, but not on the sdcard (pics and stuff).
If none of that works, you can still try getting Clockwork recovery on the phone via fastboot. Boot phone to fastboot and then on computer type the command "fastboot flash recovery <put file name of recovery version you're flashing here>"
Once in clockwork, you should have access to adb via the computer. On your computer go to the Development section here and download any of the various nandroid images posted there. Now you use clockwork mounts and storage menu to mount the sdcard. Then use adb to "adb push <insert path and filename of your nandroid image here> /sdcard"
Unmount the sdcard with the clockwork mounts and storage menu. Now go to the backup menu, select advanced restore and find the nandroid image and restore it.
With any luck, you should be able to boot into a fresh phone.

Stuck in Fastboot Mode - Please Help!!!

Hi everyone. I have been looking everywhere i can and i cannot find any existing threads explaining how to fix this.
First off I am a little bit of a noob when it comes to rooting. I rooted my phone using a one-click method yesterday and was flashing roms fine. I couldnt find anything i liked last night so i restored the backup i made. This morning i was going to flash CM9. My phone was fine this morning. I turned off my phone and went into fastboot mode. When i went to recovery it came right back into fastboot mode saying "no boot or recovery image". No matter how i turn the phone on it goes to fastboot mode. Also, i can't seem to get my computer to recognize my phone no matter what i try. I have pulled the battery and left it out for 30 minutes and still nothing.
What am i missing.
Thank you in advance for any help.
I had a similar situation, don't get stressed, basically u'll have to force the phone into recovery, delete all the files in regards to android on ur pc, restart it, same for the phone, I don't exactly remember where it is but I think is around here on the forums at XDA that explain how to force the Nexus to be recognized by Windows again, or ;look it up on Google, lessons learned!!!
Also check the posts about Nexus being stuck on Boot and similar.

Since your in fast boot try to go to recovery. From recovery try to delete data and cache. Then try to reflash your rom. Chances are if it will not work. Maybe the file you downloaded is corrupted and u need to download it again.
PS don't forget to do a nand backup before flashing any rom or update.

[Q] HOX will not boot up or turn on or have LED response

Hey everyone. So everything was good for the last couple of days as I was on JellyBAM 6.6.0 evita. This morning after charging my phone I go to open it, view some websites etc. Phone reboots by itself, goes to lockscreen. I try unlocking my lockscreen everything good for about 10 seconds. Try to open facebook up, and boom phone goes black and will not turn on. I know for a fact that is 100% charged as when I woke up I checked the battery as I usually do to see if it charged or not.
I am pretty sure I am on Hboot 1.09 or less as I bought the phone close to the release date. Any thoughts because its weird how I cant turn even turn it on or have a LED light show up when it charges.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: Ok somehow my phone just turned on by itself and I took the opportunity to go into TWRP. Tried restoring but to a previous backup. Became stuck in boot screen. Went back into twrp tried to wipe the system and factory reset but somehow it says failed and that its not able to mount storage or anything. All of my data is gone now for some reason and it says no OS is installed. Do I have to RUU back again?

Yeah I forgot to mention I have tried getting into bootloader using the volume down + power process along with holding the power button. Nothing is working.
This phone has well-known power management issues. Sometimes the battery stats get corrupted and the phone thinks the battery is dead when it isn't. Unfortunately, this sometimes results in a brick.
Plug into your PC and see what pops up in Device Manager. If you get QHUSB_DLOAD, you've been bricked. However, this may be fixable since you're on 1.09.

Well, wiping /system and factory reset means the OS is erased. Could be the sdcard got corrupted. You'll need to reformat it.
Good news is you're not bricked; its just a matter of getting the software in order.

I had a similar problem last night with a "missing" SDcard in TWRP. Thankfully, I found a utility that you can run through fastboot that will restore the SDcard without ruu.
HOWEVER...that utility and website link that I found it on are on my computer at home...and I'm not at home
Although, I did find the utility through a google search.
Let me know if you find it. If not - I'll find the link when I get home.

[Q] Nexus 5 Mysterious Stuck on boot animation

Hi Everyone!
Really new to xda so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this at (sorry). I have a nexus 5 that after I (purposely) rebooted, is now just stuck on the boot animation, (it was not updating to 5.1.0 or 5.0.1). I tried leaving it on but it just kept spinning until the phone died. I can access fastboot, and recovery, have tried wiping cache, and factory resetting multiple times. Nothing has happened. I have gotten adb and fastboot on my mac, and downloaded a factory image from google to try and reflash, but ./adb devices doesn't show anything, even though the phone is connected in fastboot mode. (On the google website it says drivers shouldn't be an issue?). My nexus 5 is running stock, was unlocked before but now still unrooted, its the US version and I have tried connecting to the computer with multiple micro-usb cables (including the one included in the box). What should I do? Or how do I get my nexus 5 to show in ./adb devices?
I'm stumped, any help would be greatly appreciated , thanks!

As long as you're able to charge the phone still while it's off you'll have some options.
When you do factory reset, does it complete the process and reboot on its own??
Just saw this thread. You might want to try it out.

Yes it does does complete it, I reset it from recovery, so it completes and when it restarts its still stuck on the loop again for another hour. I'm downloading the file, hopefully it works
EDIT: Already completed the flash using the tool, but the first boot didn't work, reformatting again after the flash.
EDIT 2: Reboot doesn't work after the reformat after the flash.

I've used wug fresh nexus tools but you'll need the phone to boot up properly to get into developer settings to turn on USB debugging.

Nexus 5 boot stuck
Bro just try to write the following Command in cmd in the platform devices folder
'fastboot devices' instead adb devices. copy the stock image to the Platform-tools folder and just flash it via fastboot commands. mine was stuck in boot animation and did the same

Help me fix a bricked OPO :(

Phone memory was almost totally full and my sister was still shooting videos on it.
During one shoot the phone turned off and I can't turn it back on again.
Here is my problem, the phone just doesn't boot.
Shows only first screen with 1+ logo and then reboots. Not even the system boot animation.
When I try to enter recovery mode it shows TWRP screen and then reboots again. So I can't even access recovery.
And when I try to enter Fastboot Mode it turns on but the PC won't see it in adb.
What are my options here?

hi you need to follow this guide :https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-unbrick-oneplus-one-t3013732
Hi.
Firstly, you have recovery installed, so that is good.
Some things for you to try:
Can you hold down the power button for longer than 10 seconds. This will clear temporary memory and hard reboot.Press power button & volume 'down' button until you enter TWRP.
Try this firstly.
Can you access ADB at all?
15 second ADB drivers should work.
What Operating system is on your Computer?
TWRP should pop up & be accessible
If you have Windows 10 on. If it doesn't recognize your phone you will have to run an update for Media Center for Windows 10 (64 bit...I'm assuming its not 32bit).
TWRP should be read by your computer if you can access it as it contains the drivers inbuilt.
If it still is inaccessible you might have to flash TWRP again through fastboot mode using ADB.

Yes, I have TWRP installed, but cant access it. Shows the TWRP splash screen and then reboots after like 10 seconds or so.
ADB does not see device. Only shows the device during that 10 second TWRP splash screen time, but even then no commands are effective and it just reboots.
Already tried holding down power button for few seconds. No luck.
I already installed all the possible drivers and media feature packs on my Windows 10. Still no luck.
And yes, I am running latest Windows 10 Pro x64.
And no, since I cant access Fastboot, I can not re-flash TWRP either.

Daaaamn I really frankensteined the sh*t out of this one
I tried that Color OS unbrick method but it did not work. I mean the process itself worked, but the phone would not boot past the logo.
So I grabbed the system.img from old CM13 image, grabbed 2016 modem.img, then placed twrp.img instead of CM recovery and pressed START.
AAAAAND IT WORKED!!! The phone is alive!!!
Now I am in TWRP and I'm going to flash a new ROM. Hopefully everything will go perfectly.
Thanks a lot for your help @kallum7
EDIT: Flashed new ROM. Everything went just fine.

because i had bricked my phone a few months ago and that is how i got my phone back using the colour os

Thanks, but I already fixed it.
i had it in the past for some reason too. Managed to fix it using the color os method. Carefully followed the steps until i could flash again. That was a year ago tohugh. There should be some thread around wit some all-in-one solution against bricks.
