Yes, i have M2 for 2 years and speaker quality decreased caused of updates. It's so disorty and sounds very bad. I think this is caused by sony sound libs (sony sound normalizer, etc.) because Cyanogenmod haven't this problem, has crisp sound.
So, replacing sound libs from CM12.1 to stock 5.1 can solve this problem? And which files i should replace?
Thanks in advance.

There are some ways but sound gets distorted so if you like good sound you need to get better headphones. You need high sensitivity headphones that are more sensitive than 106Db.

Don't compare EarPod of iPhone5 with generic Sony headsets. If you want better sound buy a Dr. drey beats one. Sound quality of Xperia L is awesome. The bundled headphone is not that good because it is not expensive like apple.
I can provide mod for increasing the volume on headset only, but quality may decrease...
I just tested the Franco Kernel Audio boost for like 10 seconds on a song on maximum volume. Now I have a bad audio quality from the speaker even after flashing clean stock Android Lolipop. Is it possible I just ruined my speaker?
I updated my phone to 23.4.A.1.230 and 23.4.A.1.232
I noticed that the speakers volume now is noticeably lower !!! it has more bass now but lower !! my Z3 has Z3+ speakers now!!
I was shocked comparing to an another Z3 phone.. I thought I have dirt in my speakers I cleaned them but after that I thought that If I have dirt it will not be in the both of the speakers in the same time!!
and I remember that the "stereo notification zip" was not working before the developer updated it.. So YES MAYBE!!... Sony changed something with the sound driver!!
in 23.4.A.0.546. the volume in music noticeably higher !! 30% louder really!!
I'm so much confused.. anyone facing this problem also with .230 and .232 ???
Well, I haven't noticed any changes in that. Seems to be the way it was before. Maybe the fault is in your phones speakrs. ;/
yeah so that I'm asking.. I want to know the truth..
Hi everyone. I've got a problem with top speaker on Xperia 5. The sound coming from it is distorted. No damage to the speaker at all. Actually I've got it replaced. Still the same problem. It looks like a weird software issue. And it seems I'm not alone with it. Someone advised to switch off Dolby Atmos but it doesn't help either. Any solution? Thanks
I have the same problem as you
I am trying to search for the cause and solution of this speaker distorted problem. I think this is from some fk up software update. Hope sony will fix it asap
