Currently running slim 6.0.1 on my tab 2 10.1. However I find it a bit slow, I was hoping to OC the device but turns out you can't on this kernel.
Looming to see what everyone recommends for a version for this tablet and preferably one that can OC the device as well.
Thanks

I tried every rom in this site or elsewhere... And when I say Andi cm13 is the best.. means I have tested it thoroughly.. It was Karlox89 rom now it is Andi rom and I will give 5 on 5 satisfaction.. The rom is stable, fast and lag free all após run well. No complaints at all.. .. I used to install omni rom because it is stable and no bugs now the cm13 Andi version is the best the newest and the most important lag free.. ..., I have backup of every good rom 9n this site but I think i don't need more than cm13 Andi version.. It is perfect .. Try it and I guarantee your satisfaction.... Good luck
Can you OC it also?

Yes it does with Dhollmen latest kernel. ( devs don't like messing with their work... . The cm13 Andi version is very stable and fast so practicality for me it doesn't need to be overclocked)
If you want to overclock it use Dhollmen kernel and no frills cpu don't go over 1. 42 ghz or system start freezing
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.sineo.android.noFrillsCPU
How do I flash that kernel on? Ive got CWM on there now..

Cwm is outdated you better use twrp 3.0.24 get it here
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424963475
Put it with DhollmenM kernel in your external SD ...reboot into recovery .in cwm recovery go install zip from external sd chose espresso-common_TWRP_3.0.2-4.zip install it ( without wiping any thing) now go to advanced then reboot into recovery ...your tablet will reboot in twrp go to install select external drive chose DhollmenM-Espresso_Kernel_20160629.zip swipe to install reboot ...enjoy
Yah had a type, I meant CM13 i installed and used twrp 3.0.24.
So the kernel gets installed just like the rom basically, easy enough! thanks

Hello xda forums, I've done a lot of research and I can't find anything conclusive about this issue...
How do I flash a new kernel on my asus tf300t with custom rom cm10.1 nightlies? I want to do this because I can't overclock over 1.3 ghz .
I'm really happy with this rom on performence mode , but in heavier games like gta vice city it still lags a lot, so I'm guessing higher freq > better gamming experience. Please help this poor child :'( . And if I'm reposting or something, u have my sincere apologies.
Thank u so much for the help and I hope this post can help as many as possible.
Are you able to reboot into recovery mode? (Hold power, press reboot and select recovery)
If you can, just download the custom kernel .zip file and go back to recovery. Select 'install zip from sdcard', browse to and select the downloaded kernel.. reboot and enjoy

I use Cyanogenmod 10.1, CM's kernel is so good. Problem is in I/O. If you don't want to your apps lagging, you will have to move your apps to MicroSD class 10

Hey man, my tablet is rooted and I have cwm recovery installed, so i can boot up the tablet and acess the cwm menu via powerbtn+vol down.
So yes I can flash roms and kernels, but now I ask?? Can I install any kernel having already cm10.1 installed?? If not please give me a list of safe kernels i can install changing cm10.1 kernel on my tf300t.
If this method is to risky maybe I should install other rom with higher costumable overcklock? If yes please recommend roms with overclock ranges higher than 1.3 ghz.
Thank u for ur help

I think there is only one kernel for CM10.1 that you can safely flash and that is Surdu's kernel, what you need to do is get your CM10 zip file and open it with 7zip and then replace the kernel .blob file inside with the one you want to flash, close the zip and reflash your ROM, only wipe cache/dalvik and you should have a new kernel.
Another option is to try Surdu's CM10.1 build with its own kernel, that what I have and it runs great.
hope that helps.

Hey man thank u so much . Just to be sure, so i download the leatest cm10.1.zip extract, change the blob kernel of cm10.1 with surdu's kernel, zip again, flash > wipe cache and dalvik and it is done?
Is it really safe? And after this change can i go higher then 1.3 ghz?
Sorry for being annoying but I just want to be sure.
Thank u so much

Yep, just like that, all you are doing is replacing the CM10 kernel with a compatible one. and yes Surdu's CM10.1 kernel has GPU overclock and also CPU overclock to 1.7ghz.

Thank u so much man. So just replacing the blob didn't really work so I had to install Surdo's cm10.1 over my installed rom(cm10.1 too)>then wipe dalvik + cache and voila
Now I can overclock to 1.7 ghz

Hello man, so i finally figure it out, how to use perf kernel in cm10.1, and OMG it's so freaking amazing I've tunned up my cpu speed between 200 mhz and 1600 mhz in interactive mode, when gamming I use performance mode up 1.7ghz and 706 mhz gpu... Well I hope I'm not pushing to much of little tf300t xD
Thank u so much Ti2.
Ps. I use trickster insted of f.kernel app... Works really good too
You want to clock down good GPU a tad, I think 706 is really pushing it. Stock is ~440, standard Perf setting is 600.

Yeah you are probably right. Gpu with 706 oc it's to much and very unstable. When I play heavy games like Vice city and nova 3, the best settings I've found were 1.7ghz performance mode and gpu with standart perf settings(600mhz). So if u want a stable gamming experience on the tf300t, I would recommend this settings.
help?
Hello. I've flashed CM 10.1 and perf kernel and it oc my cpu to 1.7, which is good' but I can't find where to oc my gpu, can you help me?
Hi can anyone help me in installing cwm recovery in c2104 without flashing thunderzap, phantom or any other kernel?
My device is entirely rooted with an unlocked bootloader _
I don't know if this will work, but search xparts in the play store, it is an app for flashing xperia recoveries. Idk if it supports L though. But worth a try. Or just download a recovery from ROM manager. Also found in the play store.

Nothing different between flashing kernels or installing recovery. Flashing kernel is way easier and faster so I would just flash this instead going around and bothering with recovery instalation.

Thank you replying, actually i wanted to flash a couple of tweaks by using cwm_but it looks like now i really have to install a kernel_i have tried both phantom and thunderzap kernels before, phantom was laggy, and games were taking a lot of time in loading on the other hand thunderzap was pretty good but it consumed a lot of battery even when i was using the max frquency at 1ghz only_can you suggest me which kernel to install then, and if it is thunderzap what should be the cpu configuration?

Try Agni Kernel. :good:
try next kernel, oh and flash samsung-proprietary after flashing next kernel, it helps fix the mic issue
next kernel feels faster to me, though battery life isn't the best but if you want performance try next kernel, but if you prefer performance with better battery life you could try agni kernel

Performance is not bad either in Agni kernel,,, i tried it in cm based as well as touchwiz roms; it was very smooth.FYI,it even supports under clocking which will save a considerable amount of battery, ,, you will not see even 1% battery drain for the whole night.

@jongonzalez716705
Of course you can flash a kernel without a rom.
Make sure that the kernel is compatible with your current rom.
Profits about a kernel;
+ Some kernels let your overlock your processors
+ faster boot time
+ some kernels have some other advantages.
Which phone do you have?

I know but I've downloaded a ROM before that had its own custom kernel. Had fun overclocking but spent more time underclocking. Is there somewhere where I can download certain kernels?
Yes,you can flash Kernels.
Why are custom kernels android useful?
Ans:Kernels are the brain of your Android device and communicate between software and hardware. Therefore, they are responsible for managing things like CPU / GPU clocking speed, screen sensitivity / colors or voltage. By using a custom kernel you can not only improve battery life, but also increase system performance.
Many custom ROMs already come with their own kernels. This is done to implement software communication of the custom ROM with the hardware of the device and also to ensure a better performance. Nevertheless, you are often also able to flash custom kernels to custom ROMs. If you decided to stick to a rooted version of stock Android, flashing a new kernel can offer you additional performance with the convenience of a stock OS.
Always make sure to check compatibility of the kernel with your ROM and device, because flashing a wrong kernel can brick your phone!
You can use this apk called as Franco.kernel. The app is available in playstore.
