The LG G Pro 2 was announced last week earlier than expected (MWC was expected) and there are official images and specs by which I cannot be the only one who is intrigued.
Software: Knock Code, the evolution of KnockON that makes it easy to unlock a phone by tapping out a specific code.
Hardware: 13MP rear-facing camera of the G Pro 2 features OIS+, and is capable of recording 4K video. 120fps slow-motion video, natural flash, burst mode, and a flash for selfies that turns most of the screen white for more “soft” lighting.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and a massive 3200 mAh battery. Screen is 1080p and 5.9 inches with a side bezel of a miniscule 3.3mm

Which of you who have the T-Mo G2 and JUMP! service are going to jump to the G Pro 2? and will you later on jump to the G3?
asides from TMob , as an international D802 user im jumping over to the g pro 2 for both me and my wife (she hated her old Sgs3 and is currently hating her Sgs4)
couple of pluses for me and her are the cam and the external storage. screen should be no problem in that size and of course batt/cpu/gpu improvements are always welcomed.
I KNOW I should be using my Lg g2 for another year or 2 but i think those small upgrades are good for our type of use. i sure hope it hits the market soon as there are not many new top performers in our middle eastern market.
I'm leaving the G2 for the Flex. The curved design and battery life was enough for me to switch. I'm a phone whore though.

i'm waiting for the g3. that g pro 2 is too big for me. i like the 5 inch to 5.5 inch space. also if i upgrade i want to upgrade to a better processor so it'd have to have the 2.5ghz snapdragon 800 with the beefed up gpu or the snapdragon 805. also i'd need to see what this ois+ is all about in the store first. the ois on my g2 is underwhelming. with nokia losing its exclusivity rights to the module they use for their pureview camera's ois, i'm wondering which android phones jump on the tech.
To me it's not worth it ,I still love my lg g2..maybe in another year.

I don't like a device to be that big. I'm waiting to see what happens with the HTC M8
Nobody has mentioned that the G Pro 2 is running kit kat straight out of the box and has some of lg's tweaks. Maybe a port for the g2 in ota update later?

I'll jump to the G3

My reasons for wanting the G Pro 2 are that I want the upgraded specs, the kit kat outta the box, knock code, improved camera tech including the selfie "flash", And...... I know I'm gonna get the G3 so I wanted to explore something different first

Have only had my G2 for a couple of months. Still think it's the best phone I ever had. Not ready to give it up. And any phone from now on will be paid in full, no more subsidy, so I will most likely go Google Nexus from now on.
I think that upgrade should be noticeable. I like the specs of the G2 Pro but i buy always contract free phones, so for just that little i don't wanna spend money....
How much more battery time is the LG flex than G2? I know 500 more mah is quite much.. And maybe the screen will use less power?

I have both the G2 and Flex. The Flex battery life is noticeable better then the G2. It's crazy how much better. Maybe my G2 battery was a dud. lol I'm a power user and at timesI had to charge my G2 a few times during the day. With the Flex I only have to charge when I sleep. As far as the screen display difference I don't notice it but you may be different.
Flex battery life
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553239
I'll wait for the rom ported over and maybe get the G3.
If the Gpro2 comes to T-Mobile I'll probably do it. I had the galaxy s2 for almost two years, but when I switched to the G2 I noticed that bigger phones are still easy to use with my fairly big hands. Now that I'm used to this 5.2 inch screen I really want something even bigger! The gflex would be cool, but the pro2 has a few more things that catch my interest; Namely the camera, sound, and screen.
Honestly though, LG has been very impressive recently. I don't think I can go back to Samsung or any other phone now. Kudos, LG.

I get ridiculously good battery life on my G2, but I don't have Facebook installed or use any location based services except navigation. My biggest battery drain is gp music
Sent from my LG-D801 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I may play with a Pro 2 when I see one, but I'm more looking forward to a G3.
I'll be Jumping to the S5 , I like the G2 a lot and would keep it for 1-2 years but the back buttons are a deal breaker , wished they offered a G2/G3 with the side buttons instead.
I think the G2 is my favorite phone so far. I love it and having a bigger screen would be nice. I dont like the Flex because of the curve.
I like the curve/Flex because it's different. Tired of rehashed phones. Glad we have choices.

I stated in another thread. I think that the true signal is going to be great because signal on the g3 for me is bad.... And this looks more promising than any other phones coming out.....
I was eagerly awaiting a Nexus device but considering the pathetic specs of the 5x and the fact that the 6p won't be in stores has me really considering LG once again. I'm really excited about that 4GB of ram for this new device. I may not be interested in a dual screen phone though if this is what is coming. LG so far is really good at having a large single display and keeping overall dimensions to a minimum. Simply adding an additional screen would make it overall too big.

Great phone! Time to upgrade from LG G Pro 2
So it looks like a no brainer. I guess this is my next device but it's a little bigger than I really wanted to go. I guess I could go without a big bulky case on the V10 though considering it's very durable. Does anyone know if LG is still releasing an LG G4 Pro, or is that not happening this year?

Can't wait for the V10! Been switching between my aging LG Nexus 4, and my Samsung Note 4 (Not a big fan). My Nexus 4 has always been my favorite phone, can't wait to be daily driving another LG. Props to LG for sticking up for the power users who require a removable battery and SD card slot!
Interesting concept, but I've been wondering for awhile why is it that LG continues to use 3000mAh batteries, can they not improve the capacity?
The G2, G3, G4, Flex 2, and now V10 share the same capacity. Of course the G2 does best with 3K, yet that doesn't explain why 2yrs later they haven't moved to at least 31-3400mAh. From my quick research none of the newer LG's have comparable battery performance to either the OPO/G2, a trait that led me to love my G2.
From my personal experience newer LG's (going off of screen time provided by others) are comparable to the original Optimus G, which was between 4-5hrs (or G1 I suppose). LG is great with implementing strange features like dual this, dual that, flexible this, leather that. Yet, not much has changed for battery.

Good question. What about my G3 with 538 ppi screen? Still better than most new phones, I love this phone and I still think its beautiful in white with the metal edge. Now you see why I'm torn on any upgrade.
With the battery, it would make sense to keep using 3k mah when a lot of the new phones are still lower. Especially if LG can keep using at least part of the same battery mfg process to save on retooling and set-up costs. Maybe they feel like battery life is still competitive so they're not investing R&D money there.
Anyway, I'm ready for a change and I'm 85% sure it's going to be a Nexus 6P in Frost white!
I really want to go for the Nexus 6P but the AMOLED screen is a major turn off for me.
This doesn't look to shabby but having just dropped $600 on a G4 that has some annoying touchscreen issues I'm not too happy with LG at the moment.
Will stick to my G2. Only true upgrade would be RAM but I can survive with 2GB for now. Camera on G2 is alright and honestly 5.2" isn't exactly small.
More than 2 years and still not a single mAh extra. I can't understand their approach to the battery either but I can see why they chose snapdragron 808 once again. This will make the G5 stand out even more when they announce that it is powered by the snapdragon 820.

Nice general spec comparison to the iP6+
If it supports Tmo 12 band, I could definitely see myself moving on from my G3. I use the IR Blaster often enough where I don't think I will willingly move to a phone without one, very glad to see it's on the V10.
The only thing missing that would make it perfect for me is stereo front facing speakers, but at least the one speaker faces forwards instead of backwards like on my G3.
Bought myself a shiny new Nexus 5X a week ago, it didn't have the magic of the older Nexus 5 so I took it back and got myself a moto x style/pure, very happy with it.
Marshmallow should help with the battery drain
Other than that I love it

My own spoilt fault really, had the Nexus 5 a year ago, traded for Nexus 6 then my upgrade was due so I opted for a Galaxy S6, sold that and had an m8 in return, then swapped that for the dreaded iPhone 6plus then bought the 5X.
I basically spoilt myself for choice over the past year and haven't really settled on a phone I could depend on and have a play with, I knew straight away if I was going to keep it or not, I was a bit hesitant with the 5X but I was more certain I'd return it on my 3rd of owning it so I opted for the pure and I'm very happy with it,
Even rooted it this evening something I haven't done since my original Nexus 5
Not to mention all these so called flagships and their build qualities are awesome but they are too fragile and expensive to fix to walk around naked without a case.
The 5X was very light and almost slipped out of my hand a few times as I couldn't get a proper grip on it, otherwise a good handset just not for me. Fingerprint scanner was phenomenally fast and accurate, I don't use NFC much so can't comment on that, USB C was a bit of a pain as I spend on new adaptors and leads when I bought it, I don't think USB C will be mainstream for a good 18-24 months just yet, maybe ahead of its time we'll see, quick charge was really good and battery drain was typical but doze mode was very efficient hence the quick charge implementation.
Anyone on here that has bought a Nexus 5X looking for a case and an Orzly USB C to USB A lead I can send them to you free of charge I have no need for them can have them sent within the next few days.
For anyone outside of the UK curious how i can move from one phone to another, Here in the UK we can buy and sell handsets as much as we like as long as we pay our carriers their monthly charge then its no problem, we aren't locked to carrier specific phones and the network bands like in the US.

The biggest negative for me about the nexus is the lack of an sd card slot, as well as disappointing sound quality.
I love my moto x style, the sound is great, it's loud, two front facing speakers, with a fairly good base response, and I've got a 200gb memory card in it as well. It's also almost completely vanilla, apps load quickly, the phone does not crash, hang etc. The front facing flash is an superb feature too.
I debated over the nexus and moto for a while, I decided I'd only be buying a nexus for marshmallow out of the box and a finger print scanner... For me the features missed out weighed the positives.

Holy **** are we related? I have a Nexus 6, bought the N5x (cause like you I missed the great Nexus 5 from the past) and was throughly disappointed. The screen quality and speakers alone couldn't match the N6. Battery was fine and the fingerprint sensor and camera were nothing short of awesome, but that screen and speakers just was too much for me. So I placed an order today for a moto x pure, hoping its better all around. I wanted a smaller phone since the N6 is so damn big, and I hear the moto x feels smaller so I hoping it will satisfy. Can't be any worse than the N6.

On the ui i May agree, it's anyway better then the touchwiz in my opinion, but seriously? Poor software support? The g4 and g3 got marshmallow update before the end of 2015 xD
Also it seems that g5 Will Have a completly different design, metal and lateral volume buttons (which is bad in my opinion.
Anyway, for me g5, Samsung has too many negatives point from my point of view

Well the G3 hasn't got either the OTA or LG Suite's update in Europe yet except Poland if I'm not mistaken. There's only a file to flash from LG's website but thats not how official updates should be given.
Regarding the design, if it really has changed significantly in the G5, then yea I could go with the G5 too, but the G4's design is pretty much ugly for me.
Still the g3 has already received the update, s6 has not (only korea) and the s5? Nope.
I voted iPhone 7, but I'm still going to buy the G5 as a secondary phone. Samsung is poised for yet another flop this year with the S7. I was die hard Android, until 6 Plus came about. Getting updates 0 day, having apps that actually work and sleep properly, iMessage, universal search, and the wealth of accessories available for it have turned me to the dark side.
This isn't the ideal place to get a fair poll however. The numbers will be heavily weighted towards G5 since this is a G5 forum.

Of course, Iphone 7 has a good efficience, and is also more expensive
the reason is i don't want to keep getting a new phone every 2 years for updates, and updates are slow on android. but with iphone you get 5 years of update and updates are fast for all devices and you get more internal storage so i can install more games that are 2GB or 3GB in size. iphone you get 256GB internal storage.
You don't really need update once you find a stable version...

Following the launch of three new variants of the Moto G today, Venture Beat is reporting that Lenovo will be renaming the Moto X to the Moto Z. The company will retain the Style and Play monikers introduced last year, while the Droid devices on Verizon are also getting renamed.
The higher-end model that features a quad HD 5.5-inch display and Snapdragon 820 chip with 3 or 4GB of RAM will be known as the Moto Z Style. Meanwhile, the lower-end device with a full HD 5.5-inch display and Snapdragon 625 chip is the Moto Z Play. The Style and Play names were first introduced with last year’s lineup of Moto devices.
On Verizon, Moto devices will no longer be rebranded as the Droid Turbo or Maxx. They will retain the Z Style or Z Play name and be known as the “Droid Edition”. While it is a clunkier naming scheme, it should help Lenovo with brand recognition as they try to expand their presence in Western markets.
Furthermore, Venture Beat is also reporting that the modular backplates for both Moto Z devices will be called MotoMods. Several are currently in the works, including a battery pack, camera grip with optical zoom and flash, stereo speakers, and pico projector. The devices are expected to be announced at Lenovo’s Tech World event on June 9th.

Moto Z Force Specs
The Moto Z Force is technically the “flagship” high end smartphone from Motorola this year. Featuring a much bigger battery with even faster Turbo Charging (Quick Charge 3.0) a better camera and other changes we’ll detail below. Here’s the rundown.
5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD Display (Shatterproof)
Quad-Core Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM
32/64GB storage with micro-SD expansion
Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
21 Megapixel Rear Camera with Dual LED Flash, auto focus, phase detection focus, OIS
5 Megapixel Front Camera with auto-focus, LED flash, wide angle
Metal Design with MotoMaker customization and MotoMods
USB Type-C Port with Turbo Fast Charging, and USB-C Headphones (no 3.5mm port)
3,500 mAh battery
3.5mm to USB Type-C adapter for headphones
Water repellent nano-coating
The main difference here is the Moto Z Force has a shatterproof display, a bigger 3,500 mAh battery with faster charging, and a better 21 megapixel camera with the addition of phase detection auto-focus and other tricks. It’s also a little taller and a little wider for the bigger battery.

Not everyone cares about or needs the sdcard capability. I personally like having one for ease of transferring between devices, but I could get by without if I have 64 GB or better storage. I regularly back up my pictures anyway and I can download movies and music again.
Honestly, I really hope the new High end motos won't actually look like that. I hate trying to hold onto all these phones that are just flat slabs of thin metal. They're hard to hold onto, and that chin looks stupid. lol
I agree. One of the selling points for me on the MXPE was the fact that the curved back with the stock silicone backing provides excellent grip and usability for a phone on this size category. Flat metal and smooth plastic and/or metal backs trend to slide too easily in my hand.

True, but as we found out last year with the S6, MOST people do. The large majority want sd cards, and they were the loudest, most vocal, and annoying about it I've ever seen/heard. Samsung will never make that mistake again!
So true. For the most part, Samsung users had always had the SD card slot. The absence was a shock. However in the case of NEXUS devices, the absence of the slot is the norm. As you stated, many complained (including my spouse but won her over with automated cloud backup via wifi). This just shows that nexus devices are not for everyone.
On a side note: My reasons for the MXPE over nexus was not SD card related. I liked the overall specs and size of the MXPE and it was a better bargain for the price. While receiving the latest updates quickly would be nice, it is not a crucial sales point, more so since I'm not a developer.

Would it be worth it to buy the Moto x style or wait for the price to drop even further?

For the price to specs value, it is an excellent buy now. It is hard to say if the price will drop much more if any. Usually price drops are to get rid of stock and if the stock is emptied at current prices, you will never get the chance for lower prices.

OP updated with official announcement.
So, a [hopefully] unlocked bootloader won't be available till after the summer.
No worries. My MotoX is rocking steady.
Moto Z & Moto Z Force Release Date
So when can you get one?
Well, the Moto Z DROID and Moto Z DROID Force will be available exclusively in the United States “this summer” from Verizon Wireless.
Then, the Moto Z will be available unlocked (for most carriers) later this fall on Motorola.com and likely many other retail partners.

AWW crap.
Sadly, the better Moto Z Force will only be available in the US from Verizon Wireless.
Everyone else will need to settle for the razor thin Moto Z with the smaller 2,600 mAh battery.
Motorola further explained that these phones will be available globally starting in September.

Anyone here thinking about going back to a carrier locked phone?
Verizon isn't allowed to lock their 4G LTE phones. However the Droid branded phones may lack the proper radio frequencies to work well on AT&T and T-Mobile LTE.

Not a chance right now. There are enough options out in the wild with more than acceptable specs still. Of course, it will be another year or so before I get around to upgrading again so who knows.

Kind of disappointed... like the curved back design better... and the first round of motomods is not so exciting to see. I wonder if they will keep motoaction?
And anyone saw the livestream yesterday? At one point it's weird Ashton Kutcher walked off stage, like he's not sure if he's still needed on stage or not... In general, I think the CEO doesn't need to be on stage that much if he doesn't have the charisma...
The production values of the presentation last year were far superior fwiw.

Fewer LTE bands and no 3.5 mm jack so just not for me. I could probably live with the USB-C audio (I'll have to eventually anyway) but reduced band coverage is a deal-killer.

Looks like we were wrong about the X line
