Are Samsung Devices Rootable? - General Questions and Answers

Or does an emulator still need to be used? Can Samsung Devices with Marshmallow be rooted?

Of course they can. If using odin then most methods still work even after going from lollipop to marshmallow.

So my Samsung S5 Active could be rooted using Odin? The Marshmallow update just happened last week for this phone? What about the S6 Edge?

[Q] Flashfire?

Do you think there is any hope of using flashfire to flash custom rooms for vzw note pro 12.2?
I used flashfire on my fiancés rooted vzw note 3 last night to flash the jasmine rom they have available, so since the note 3 has a locked bootloader as well I wondered if we could expect the same capabilities if roms were developed? The thread on flashfire says it's been used on a plethora of samsung devices...

Did you roll back to 4.4.4 and root then use Flashfire to come back up to lollipop and keep root for your note 4?
Lollipop for the Verizon Note Pro hasn't released in the US yet, but you were abe to use Flashfire to maintain root and hop up to lollipop on your tablet as well?
Thanks for the reply! Happy to know flashfire is an option!
You don't need to roll back.Just rooted lollipop and kitkat is upgradeble and downgrade also.I tried both and did work as well.Flashfire has auto root option itself and during flash injects supersu.
In both my devices works as it suppose to do.Just like old MobilOdin did.

Who's your carrier for your devices? As far as I know there isn't a permanent root method for Verizon Note 4. The king root has gained temp root for vzw note 4 but it's lost upon reboot and there isn't a way to replace their su with chainfires su.
As for the note pro lte with vzw there isn't an official lollipop update out for Verizon here in the US and no dev roms to go up to lollipop so I'm curious how you e managed to do this for both devices?

All my devices are unbranded. No carrier.I never bought device in my life attached to any carrier contract. It is against my nature.
I suppose that explain why I don't have problems so far.

Ah well that explains it then. Thanks for replying though I think I'm gonna start doing the same thing, I want to buy the new nexus they are releasing this year straight from Google and then have it activated by Verizon so I can have the unlocked bootloader and such.
Thanks for the help!

you canțt there is no 4.4 rom for 361f only for 360 variants. you are stuck to 5.1.1
Most newer Galaxy phones have an eFuse on the board that prevents downgrading the whole firmware. You might be able to use a custom KK rom, if one is available, but will not be able to downgrade with Odin and the official firmware/software package.
Cant Diwngrade
"There Is No Actuall Way Yet The Mother Board has a vChip that protects Maleware and untrusted files from overwriting the system . Finding one is no luck i took my into samsung store they swapped it for a 4.4.4 Samsung Galaxy Core Prime G361F i would just ask them" ¤☆》《
Also Its a Efuse
Thank you for taking time to read this
why would/do you want to downgrade?
So no way downgrading sm-g361f from 5.1.1 to 4.4.? We have chance install 6.0 to sm-g361f?

it's because of that, that after i flashed a custom kernel a red "!" mark will be always at the top left of screen when phone is turning on? dose that means i did blow up the eFuse?
Would you know what lollipop firmeworks works on model SM-G360G, like 4G everything works ok here, vodaphone model. Sick of waiting for lollipop, or should i just wait....I noticed some people had used a Euro Firmware.
There Is Actually One Way But This Causes To Using A Different Model That Is Not The Same As You Android Device Or Changing Your Model To A Different One As The Same Phone As You Have But Having To Have 4.4.4 KitKat??

What device, what carrier, what ROM? For example, Samsung rolled out a nougat beta and Verizon stopped releasing more updates for it so if it wasn't compatible from the latest release from them then it's not going to until the beta is released. The gear VR was also not working initially.

Are the roms official? I've read about certain roms like CM having problems as well.
I am currently running a rooted V20 on T-Mobile with Samsung Pay working perfectly on my Gear S3 Frontier LTE. Only modifications are the Google Pixel build.prop edits for Google Assistant & the Kali NetHunter kernel. Stock rom.

Are you running a nougat rom?
I am not part of the official beta program so I have only tried a custom nougat rom... and Samsung pay does not install in the gear app...

As soon as you wrote the Samsungs and the Knox counter get tripped. Samsung pay no longer work with that device
I just got my G3 Frontier last night, and I love it! But to your question, I could not get the software installed on my Verizon HTC 10 with a custom Viper ROM based on MM. I then tried to install the software on my Verizon M8 with a stock debloated and rooted version of MM and it worked fine. So I figured I had to change the ROM on my HTC 10. I ended up going with a Nougat port of the international version adapted for the Verizon HTC 10 and now it works. I was able to install the Samsung Gear app and all the extra apps to achieve all watch functions.
So from what I can tell, the ROM your using needs to be as close to Stock as possible, and that's just what I have experienced for a non Samsung phone. It's also worth noting, that even though I am Rooted, Samsung pay allowed me to install the app, as well as add a card. I tried a terminal at work, but haven't actually finished a transaction yet, but I'm pretty sure it's working.
I can't get Samsung Pay on my S3 using my Nexus 5X with any ROM. I've tried stock, and a few other ROMs. Is it just not working with 7.1.1 yet?

I've got a SM-G920W8 with telus (candian) and yes I've tried but It says I need to purchase to root which I really shouldn't have to do because there are so many other apps that are free but none of which support my build.

G920F on G920V?

New to rooting ig, I have a Verizon S6 on Nougat and im looking to root it, but the last phone I rooted bricked so im kinda iffy on it. Every time i find a video or a guide on rooting an S6 on Nougat, its all for G920F, all i need to know is if I can use those files for my G920V.
I would be using TWRP 3.1.0.0, which I believe is universal, Odin 3.12.7, which i believe is also universal, and Magisk 12.0, which is what i am iffy about.
