What device, what carrier, what ROM? For example, Samsung rolled out a nougat beta and Verizon stopped releasing more updates for it so if it wasn't compatible from the latest release from them then it's not going to until the beta is released. The gear VR was also not working initially.

Are the roms official? I've read about certain roms like CM having problems as well.

I am currently running a rooted V20 on T-Mobile with Samsung Pay working perfectly on my Gear S3 Frontier LTE. Only modifications are the Google Pixel build.prop edits for Google Assistant & the Kali NetHunter kernel. Stock rom.

Are you running a nougat rom?
I am not part of the official beta program so I have only tried a custom nougat rom... and Samsung pay does not install in the gear app...

As soon as you wrote the Samsungs and the Knox counter get tripped. Samsung pay no longer work with that device

I just got my G3 Frontier last night, and I love it! But to your question, I could not get the software installed on my Verizon HTC 10 with a custom Viper ROM based on MM. I then tried to install the software on my Verizon M8 with a stock debloated and rooted version of MM and it worked fine. So I figured I had to change the ROM on my HTC 10. I ended up going with a Nougat port of the international version adapted for the Verizon HTC 10 and now it works. I was able to install the Samsung Gear app and all the extra apps to achieve all watch functions.
So from what I can tell, the ROM your using needs to be as close to Stock as possible, and that's just what I have experienced for a non Samsung phone. It's also worth noting, that even though I am Rooted, Samsung pay allowed me to install the app, as well as add a card. I tried a terminal at work, but haven't actually finished a transaction yet, but I'm pretty sure it's working.

I can't get Samsung Pay on my S3 using my Nexus 5X with any ROM. I've tried stock, and a few other ROMs. Is it just not working with 7.1.1 yet?

Samsung pay works on the watch with a rooted ROM and knox tripped, however so far only with marshmallow ROMs. I have tried several nougat ROMs with no luck getting Samsung pay installed on the watch through Gear... Samsung pay will not work on the phone....

Nope , it's lollipop
I have a galaxy ace (vanilla) with a rom that says 4.2 but I know its not
I have been running Gear Manager on the Note 3 leaked stock Lollipop rom since before christmas. I have some issues with the Gear not reconnecting automatically, but everything else works.
There was an update to Gear Manager, this morning, but cannot yet see any differences
Ever since the poland 5.0 update of S5, (i think that's december of last year) I have been using my gear2 with it, now on the latest release of lollipop for s5 and it still works. No issues what so ever. I've always wondered these kind of posts saying gear manager isn't compatible with LP.

Latest Gear manarger seems to be compatible with android 5. However because Gear manager download the apps during the installation will only work with samsung phones that are officialy updated to Lollipop.
To make your phone compatible with the gear and LP you need to use a samsung phone with touchwiz and build.prop like is an S5.
Just wondering if any kind soul could upload all the apk from the gear manager for lollipop to see if we can install it in a android 5 no-touchwiz rom.
We also need the files from the rom that make samsung phones to detect and connect to the phones (i don't remeber its name)

The is one of the reasons I dont update to LP. 1. Can't connect my gear and 2. Xposed doesn't work.
Gear Manager_2.1.14071502.apk works fine on LG G3 with lollipop. (Not rooted).
It workt on my stock M8 until I took a hard reset today. but I can't install gear manager now..
I probably have to downgrade to android 4.4 again and then install gear manager and so install lollipop...
krishell can you explain step by step what you did to get it work ?
My Gear 2 also works on Lollipop....
Hi,
I have also a gear 2 working on LG G3 lollipop 5.0 ChuppaChup rom 4.1 working (See Pic).
I made everything working on kittkat stock rom, then dirty flashed ChuppaChup 4.0.
Everything works... notifications, call-ing.......etc
Just wanted it to report.....
On my HTC M8 and G3 I just installed gear manager 1.2 and then 2.1. Everything works.
Then when the lollipop came. I just updated and it work just fine. but when I took a reset on my M8 the problem came. Can't get it to work. I seriously wondering to buy a new phone just to get the watch working again. Some people said it was hard to downgrade frome lollipop to kit Kat..
but the LG G3 still works like a charm. But it can't replace my HTC..
Is there any way to make it work again on htc m8 with lollipop? I try it all but the maanarger force close or doesnt work but the phone finds the watch. Can someone patch it up??
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
I could easily pay someone if they could make it work again!
Al that i found is that i have root the system but I got it working. With out root. After the update to lollipop the app stops working . I like the gear2 but it piss me off that rigth now all that i have is a watch

Gear manager working on LG G3: http://youtu.be/oFO3f-1hI-c
So you have to have it working on Kitkat first and then dirty flash lollupop to have it working on the M8? That sounds kinda risky. But the apk we need to get working is gear manager 2.2 or latest witch updated for lollipop. We need need to find a way to get host working so it wont be force closing. But i still get notifications and still connect on my M8 with lollipop. But cant use gear manager. Changing build.prop doesnt work anymore on new gear manager. If I could port the host app for gear manager I would but dont know where to start or what it looks for that cant find.

Known fix for android pay?

Let me preface, I'm using a 920T
I've been able to determine when I flash a 920T based rom, android su root disabled, I can configure and use android pay.
When I flash a 920F/925F rom I get an error that it can't verify device or software running is compatible. I've tried using xposed modules (device cloak and disable device checker) and still no go.
Is there some way to get the base to act/be/fake different than what is actually installed?
Similar to fix the Netflix bug you change the model in build.prop to 920K.
Could a rom that has a 920F base, be transposed or features migrated to a 920T rom, for example?
Either 1- I run a rom that doesn't have the features, battery, speed I want and have android pay. 2- run a rom I want and no android pay. 3- have a nandroid of a 920t stock rom and flash back and forth when needed (a pita for sure).
As far as I know there is no way you can use android pay and have a rooted device.

Yes you can.. The issue is because most roms are European base, android pay is only available in the US. So roms specifically for att, tmobile, Verizon, sprint all should work; as my test of two roms proved

I thought pay would detect the su binaries. That's what a Google developer said.

Couldn't test it though.

I tested by rooting a sprint s6 then adding a credit card with no issues what so ever. The problem definitely lies in EU based ROMS

Exactly. So some way need to fake our rom to be based on USA rom.
I hope some devs can look into this..
Maybe it's because of the fact that Android Pay is only available in the US.
I tested it by installing the apk on a stock unrooted G920F but it wouldn't let me add a credit card because Play Services force close.
And I live in Germany.

Are Samsung Devices Rootable?

Or does an emulator still need to be used? Can Samsung Devices with Marshmallow be rooted?

Of course they can. If using odin then most methods still work even after going from lollipop to marshmallow.

S Health on a Rooted Device

Hi there,
got one question for you. I hope I find some help here.
I rooted my G930F few months ago and now just updated to android 7 nougat beta. Now my device is not rooted.
The problem is, that when I try to launch S Health app, the app says something about that KNOX is tripped. Aaaand I'm not able to launch it. It has something to do with SHealth's connection with knox, implemented in version 5.0 (for security reasons).
The app itself is in my opinion a crappy piece of software on itself, but it's the only way to see all data from my Gear s3 watch on my phone...
Any ideas how to make it work? Any way to set a fake status for knox?
Thanx so much for any advice...
I have the same problem
There is no way to untrip the Knox so unless you find a modified S Health app (don't know if there is one or it's even possible), you are out of luck.

Yet with 6.0.1 in root never had a problem! The problem has appeared with Android 7.
The problem has appeared with the new version of S Health as OP himself or herself states. So except for downgrade or installing old version of SHealth I don't see a way to use it. Can probably be somehow hacked but who knows how

I tried to go back to old version that does not work either!
So Samsung is making our phone unusable once rooted if we want to use Gear watches or all the features of the phone? Very sad and a very bad move from Samsung.
I am rooted with Android 6 and can still use it, I will consider strongly about this before moving to Android 7 then... Thanks for the head's up.
Maybe install a rom that doesn't contain knox stuff?
so any solution ???
Try previous versions of S Health?
No previous version works. Only if we go back to MM s health works again
WTF happens?
Solution HERE
Thanks!
It worked! Thanks!

No this is not possible atm as Samsung has basically dropped support for this device and with no root and tarp method installing a custom rom will result in a bricked device

Pretty good though. That's about 4 years... especially considering Android's update schedule. I don't know how long a Wear OS watch gets updates for.
