Knox and warranty - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to root and flash some custom ROM on my phone but I'm afraid of losing year and half warranty.
Can someone from EU and other countries share experience with warranty and tripped knox, somebody say that warranty is still valid. Is it true?
Thanks!

if they will check, then no warranty, but they do not check always. In beginning of user manual you can find this information.

Once knox is tripped your warranty is voided. No saying that, it all depends on if Samsung check this if they carry out a repair, they may or may not depending on what type of fault it is. If it's a software issue that cannot be fixed by yourself, then most likely they will see knox is tripped. But for say a broken screen maybe not so much. It's risky though.

warranty void

i have bought moto g in india
i wanna root my phone
is there any way to get warranty back after once we have rooted?
Of course not. When you unlock your boot loader, after agreeing with Motorola that your warranty is then void. Period.
That's the way it is with any warranty for any product... Unless you live in Europe

I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998801 and this http://www.bitdefender.com/security...nty-in-eu-but-opens-new-ways-for-malware.html .
Here, they're talking about Directive 1999/44/CE ,who "protects consummers even if they have rooted and flashed their system in order to use custom ROMs". I don't know why on italian forums everyone says who root their phone, void warranty...
I tried to read this Directive, http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:31999L0044:EN:NOT but I am very ignorant on this subject (i "studied" law and economics for only 2 years,3 years ago :silly: )

Quick question on TriangleAway!

I would like to root my S3, Im from the UK and im on TESCO Mobile. Ive heard that rooting destroys your warranty and ive got a 2 year warranty on my phone that I don't wanna loose. If I root on a stock rom, So stock Touchwiz 4.3 and use triangleaway will it work and successfully set my flash counter back to 0 and not brick my phone?:cyclops:
If i had a 2 year warranty I would not root my phone but that's just me. But it would void your warranty with Samsung. But the loophole in UK law if it is a hardware problem and not software your warranty is still valid.
Maybe this will help you

Root (even temporary) without tripping knox ?

Just bought N915F and want to root it to use adblock, TB and call recorder.
Is there any way to root it without tripping knox counter ?
Read about Kingroot but not sure if it safe.
Really tempted but want to know for sure if there is a way to have root (even just until reboot) ?
P.s does app like adblock need to have root access all the time or it enough to give it root once with temporary root (kingroot for example) and it will still work afterwards ?
Thank you for helping.
What firmware do you have?

If that is 5.1.1 I'm not sure if root works. If it is 5.0.1 or below there is root.

It is 4.4.4
How can I root it without tripping the knox for sure?
I don't want to update it to lollipop because I read that there are bugs and battery life decrease.

You can't root it yet without tripping knox. Maybe kingroot has an option, you can search for it in play store. They don't have a working solution for lollipop yet, but maybe for kk. You can try, but remember the risks..
Personally I chose to root with cwm and then flashing super su. Knox 0x1...
I'm on 5.0.1 and I don't experience any battery drain compared to kitkat. Nor any bugs. Guess some are unlucky.
Only thing is camera shutter is no longer on the edge, and Facebook notifications can be a little bothersome when you're playing games as they now comes both on edge screen and main screen. Samsung really should do something about this.

There is anyone that tried kingroot and can give his opinion?
If Knox tripped, Samsung won't repair even if it is a hardware problems? I don't care about software services but only about the hardware.

I have heard from ppl that some SC are not that concerned with KNOX.
Personally havent had that pleasure yet.
I rooted my phone today itself. God forbid something bad happens and i am forced to do a trip to SC, and they refuse my warranty on the basis of KNOX, i'll find a way to hard brick it so badly that not even the splash screen would boot up!
After reading and searching, I rooted mine N915F yesterday but only with Chainfire root method. Cf-autoroot didn't work for me.
As for sc, you right! If they won't honor warranty because of knox, making hardbrick will shut them off.
Personally, I have a Nexus 5 and never had Knox or rooting problems but my wife stick to Sami. Have knox on her S4 mini and now on Edge. I really hate Sami for this but as you all know, happy wife = no heading for the husband

Return policy?

Anyone know if returning to stock is good enough for returning the device? Does Knox have to be reset?
Tmobile doesn't blink an eye at any phone being modified when returning

Odin back to stock will do the trick, I've turned in a few Samsung phones with knox tripped for warranty and JOD. No issue at all
Awesome, thanks for the help.
T-Mobile doesn't check to see if Knox has been tripped. Just flash it back to stock and your good to go. Only time you may have to worry about Knox is when sending it to Samsung for a warranty issue.

T-Mobile doesn't care, but just to let you know, Knox can't just be reset.
