sd card (in android phone) suddenly became RAW format - how to fix it ? - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
The 32GB Samsung EVO in my AMOI N828 became suddenly RAW format (instead of fat32).
I have tried to get the most data out of it with EaseUS data recovery wizard ( and with a bunch of other programs too) but the SD card lost most of its data.
But even when i want to format it again, it says RAW format, so i tried to repartition it with MINITOOL Partition wizard but without any luck.
I cannot create a new partition like fat32, primary with default clustersize. When i click APPLY the program tries to create a partition but after a minute the programs seems to have created it but in fact the SD stays "unallocated". Therefore i cannot format it either.
I have tried in win7 via CMD, diskpart, list disk, select disk, clean (gave error) , create partition primary(gave error)....but nothing happens and there is always an error-log.
Also tried in diskmanagement to format but without succes ( because it is still in RAW format ofcourse)
So, i have tried almost anything but nothing works.
Has anyone another fix perhaps ? Or is my SD a total loss ?

Flash card partitioning problem

Hi. I tried to create a few partitions on my microSD card (PC -> phone connection) using Windows 7 Disk Management tool. A few first operations went ok, but then options to delete, resize partition, create new one on unallocated space became unavailable. Formatting is still working. Does anybody know what could happen and how to fix this?
Thanks.

Try again in cwm...
or else insert sd few more times in pc using memory card reader(adapter) til it stops saying bad disk and then try to format in minitool
tried both and still not working
thanks anyway

wats the problem with cwm? Wat error it shows?
Insert it in PC card reader. Find some partition manager, other than mini partition tool, for PC and try to repartition it.
If you use Windows 7 go to Control Panel->System and Security->Administrative tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management
and check if your card (and it's partitions) is shown. If it is try to remove existing partitions and create new FAT 32 partition spaning over entire disc.
i've used easeus partition master, and
easeus partition recovery + partition table doctor +hdd regenerator + sd formatter + minitool partition + [email protected] partition recovery+ flobo
i think it's hopeless
@tomashokenberi all of the programs including disk management , are showing one unallocated partition (1 Gb) and everytime i try to format the partition, the program fails, all of them
@vikraam the cwm just says formatting then done ( nothing else )
somebody said to me to try an mbr tool or program, and i havent found one that works on my pc (x64) do you have suggestions
How many partitions are actually shown in disk management? One or more? If there is more than one partition try to delete all partitions then create one new partition.
Also if your Windows PC uses some "ext2/3 enabler", that is software and driver that allows access to ext2/3/4 partitions from windows it may interfere with disk management and create problems.
it is showing only one partition, i've tryed gparted live cd, on several different pcs and different sd adapters all saying ( access denied, or write protected ), and yes the switch is correct,,
so what should i do now, make a hole in it and use it like a Key Chain

Gave me the same bad disk error, I tried every partition manager but nothing worked!
I found my solution by changing my sdcard adapter (or usb card reader) and it works perfectly fine now

thanks, though this is an old post but you helped me with my sd card also.
faced the same problem....
simple solution:format with blackberry
Command Prompt
I don't know if the problem was solved. I have suggestions. They are worth trying but not guaranteed to work.
The 'Disk Management' thing doesn't work. I use Windows 10. It gets stuck (becomes entirely Unresponsive) until I pull out the card from the reader. And the same also happens when I double-click or right-click on the SD card in Windows Explorer.
Maybe this can work-
Check the Lock switch on Card. It should not be locked.
On the computer, disable any antivirus feature of auto-scanning USB disks when connected. Also disable Windows USB AutoPlay.
Connect Card to computer with a good card reader.
With Windows Explorer, find the drive letter of the connected SD Card.
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and write
format <drive letter followed by colon : and no slash>
Example - Attached to this post.
If error appears "Insert New Disk and press ENTER", just press 'ENTER' directly.
If error appears "Cannot open volume for direct access", write the format statement in 5th step again.
These errors appear 3-4 times, but keep following the above steps till these statements appear -
"The type of the file system is FAT32. Verifying <your card size>"
Good luck !!
Otherwise, try this http://www.cardrecoverypro.com/

minitool> format>corrupt memory card>fix help please!!

i was using mintool to partition my 32gb microsd for use with link2sd on xperia mini pro
it formated cleaning sectors
but now its not picking up on phone or pc
can adb via android fix it
tried to format on other android and old windows 6.5 phone but no success:crying:
any ideas to fix greatly appreciated
It is not clear question. Although it is quite long time ago, but i know minitool can partition sd card perfectly. i dont know why you format it, if you want to convert files system, you can use minitool partition wizard to convert files system directly and without data losing.

[Q] The mysterious case of the "invisible" SD card

Smartphone Newman N1 with lingfude ICS custom ROM.
I extended the userdata partition following this guide. Unfortunately, after flashing the phone wasn't able to property start Android anymore (but I was able to start in Recovery Mode).
So I have re-installed the ROM (factory reset and wipe all the data) and now the phone it's OK, except for the SD card. It seems like I have no SD card at all.
Some facts:
The SD is OK. I tested it on both PC and on a different smartphone, no problem at all.
The SD is correctly formatted FAT32 (no multiple partitions).
In Recovery Mode I can still access to the SD card . I can mount/unmount it, I can even install software from it in Recovery Mode.
I think the problem is related to the extension of the userdata partition but I'm not sure.
Any ideas?

Can't crate more than one partition in SD

Hello guys. I've been struggling with this for 3 days now.
The thing is that I need to have an SD with 2 partitions for internal storage on android. The wierd thing is, no matter what procedure I take, the second partition cannot be formated. I can create the partition, but I when I format it it ends up with the file system "Other".
I've tried with A LOT of procedures, a lot of programs, I read a lot of guides, and nothing works.
This is all the info I can provide:
First partition works well in every case, I can read and write in it.
If second partition is Primary, file system is ALWAYS "Other" and NO free space left (all space marked as used), but if partition is logical, it does not even create it (updates as unallocated after commitment, as if nothing ever happened).
That "Other" partition is not recognized by nothing, and there is no way I can explore it.
I've tried in Windows 7 64 bits, Linux GParted Environment, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Android 4.4 Kitkat.
I've tried in 3 devices: A PC, a Notebook and Moto E android with stock rom and CM 13.
I have 2 MicroSD, Kingston 16 GB Class 4 and Kingston 16 GB Class 10. All the procedures where repeated in both SD cards, so I discard the SD being broken.
I've used MiniTool Partition Wizzard, Acronis Disk Director Suite, EaseUS Partition Master and Paragon Hard Disk Manager on windows and AParted, Apps2SD: All in one tool and Parted4Android in Android (As well as GParted).
Tried both MBR and GTP. Same issue.
Tried FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, ext2, ext3 and ext4 in both first and second partition in MBR and GTP, primary and logical (ALL combinations, yes, a LOOOOT of formatting :3)
If third, fourth (and so on) partitions are created, the same as second partition happens.
I can succesfully create a second partition in a USB PenDrive.
Tried for example this: Created 2 partitions as FAT32, as always second partition marked as "Other", entered the first partition from windows, created a file. After that I switched the partitions with wasp. Once the other partition was active, when I tried to enter windows said "Drive X has no format, want to format?" Yes "Could not format X".
So, WHAT in the world am I supposed to do? D:
Thanks in advance guys :3 And sorry for my bad english.
