Try again in cwm...
or else insert sd few more times in pc using memory card reader(adapter) til it stops saying bad disk and then try to format in minitool

tried both and still not working
thanks anyway

wats the problem with cwm? Wat error it shows?

Insert it in PC card reader. Find some partition manager, other than mini partition tool, for PC and try to repartition it.
If you use Windows 7 go to Control Panel->System and Security->Administrative tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management
and check if your card (and it's partitions) is shown. If it is try to remove existing partitions and create new FAT 32 partition spaning over entire disc.

i've used easeus partition master, and
easeus partition recovery + partition table doctor +hdd regenerator + sd formatter + minitool partition + [email protected] partition recovery+ flobo
i think it's hopeless
@tomashokenberi all of the programs including disk management , are showing one unallocated partition (1 Gb) and everytime i try to format the partition, the program fails, all of them
@vikraam the cwm just says formatting then done ( nothing else )
somebody said to me to try an mbr tool or program, and i havent found one that works on my pc (x64) do you have suggestions

How many partitions are actually shown in disk management? One or more? If there is more than one partition try to delete all partitions then create one new partition.
Also if your Windows PC uses some "ext2/3 enabler", that is software and driver that allows access to ext2/3/4 partitions from windows it may interfere with disk management and create problems.

it is showing only one partition, i've tryed gparted live cd, on several different pcs and different sd adapters all saying ( access denied, or write protected ), and yes the switch is correct,,
so what should i do now, make a hole in it and use it like a Key Chain

Gave me the same bad disk error, I tried every partition manager but nothing worked!
I found my solution by changing my sdcard adapter (or usb card reader) and it works perfectly fine now

thanks, though this is an old post but you helped me with my sd card also.

faced the same problem....
simple solution:format with blackberry

Command Prompt
I don't know if the problem was solved. I have suggestions. They are worth trying but not guaranteed to work.
The 'Disk Management' thing doesn't work. I use Windows 10. It gets stuck (becomes entirely Unresponsive) until I pull out the card from the reader. And the same also happens when I double-click or right-click on the SD card in Windows Explorer.
Maybe this can work-
Check the Lock switch on Card. It should not be locked.
On the computer, disable any antivirus feature of auto-scanning USB disks when connected. Also disable Windows USB AutoPlay.
Connect Card to computer with a good card reader.
With Windows Explorer, find the drive letter of the connected SD Card.
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and write
format <drive letter followed by colon : and no slash>
Example - Attached to this post.
If error appears "Insert New Disk and press ENTER", just press 'ENTER' directly.
If error appears "Cannot open volume for direct access", write the format statement in 5th step again.
These errors appear 3-4 times, but keep following the above steps till these statements appear -
"The type of the file system is FAT32. Verifying <your card size>"
Good luck !!
Otherwise, try this http://www.cardrecoverypro.com/

Broken SD Card?

For the last 5 hours I have had hell with my sd card I redid my phone with JF new build and wiped out my 8gb class 6 a-data sd card but all of a sudeen it been acting weird
one thing is in paragon it shows the partitions still there (ext2) which takes up the whole card and should not, while windows shows its fat32, and i can access it in windows but it wont show up in in partition program nor delete
while when i mount it into the g1 (where it ask to mount or dont mount when plug it into pc) it instantly unmounts and i click mount again but just makes a noise and unmounts also saying its blank
now my 2gb chip seems to work fine (sometimes well if i unstall the drivers and let them re install then it works for a great amount of time), but this 8 gb,...well
what do you guys think? is it fixable? I can record video of it all (errors and stuff included) if u want
idk if its my chip, my phone or my pc can anyone help?
i think this has something to do with the way windows handles sd cards with no partition table. i assume you formatted the whole card to fat32 using a third party utility? that will totally confuse the system, because it cached a version of the partition table and now there's nowhere to find the new one. a quick solution is to use the build-in format tool to format your sdcard (right click on sdcard's icon and select format...). this should force the system to recalculate the size of the partition. then you have to unplug the card reader and plug it back in. now paragon should work.

after a long while, finally got windows to format the whole thing to fat32, but yet still acting weird
what kind of card reader are you using? certain card readers has their own controller and do not allow you to partition properly.
but i am sure mountd in android will allow you full access to the sdcard when it's mounted.
also how much total space do you have in that fat partition after format? a full 8gb sd should have approx. 7.45GB actually space. if your partition table is correct, windows should only format the fat partition and give you a size smaller than 7.45G.
I strongly suggest you try again under Linux using the phone as reader. any livecd with a partition manager will perform much better than windows.
Well i try it both on my phone and a mem card reader, but once I put it on my phone it does not detect a sd card (my 8gb im trying to fix) while detects my fat32 2 gb chip
on my laptop and pc cant format nor delete that ext2 8gb sd card
BUT that 8gb ext2 card im trying to fix loads perfeclty and can access it on ubuntu so im guessing its not physically broken

What do you mean by "it", the GUI. How about doing an ls on /dev/block from the terminal on the phone to see what linux sees?

Hmm, what do you mean by delete the card? You can delete a partition, but not a card: I'm not sure makes sense.

You say ext2, but yet above you claim to have reformatted as FAT. What does your ubuntu machine think it is? One way to tell is to mount it and try to set permissions on a file, if you can, it is not FAT.
What is your objective, do you want a FAT partition, an EXT2 partition, both?
Well I got it working guys, I dont know what was happening as I said before different programs where detecting different file systems, but soon as I found out how to do it ubuntu I saw it was working and erased the whole card (all partitions and everything)
and now it works again thanks guys ur tips helped

Any idea how to format a corrupted sdcard?

I got a class 10 micro sdcard yesterday but when I tried to put music on it the write was like 2M/s. The computer froze in the process so I took the sdcard out before the process was finished. After I restarted my computer the computer wouldn't recognize the card anymore (no show in Computer). It wouldn't be recognized on my phone neither. It did show up on my friend's computer but if I clicked on the disk icon, it asked me to insert a card.....so I guess it might be corrupted because I got it out before the transfer was done.
So is there anyway to format the sdcard (micro sdcard)? I know there are many software that can format the sdcard but they won't work since the computer won't even detect the sdcard....
Wish I knew this as well. I have a corrupted 16GB Micro as well. Trying to format using SDFormatter tells me that it's in read-only mode or some nonsense like that.
Try this first:
http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low-Level-Format-Tool/
Even though windows won't say anything when it's inserted, doesn't mean it wasn't detected, just means windows couldn't mount it. Insert the sdcard and theh download and run the program, selecting the proper drive to wipe.
If that doesn't work u both could try linux. Download any live distro, I recommend slax. Burn it to a CD and boot ur computer from it with the micro sdcard inserted via adapter.
Then use this command with variation to ur specific hardware setup
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/???# bs=1M

SD Formatter has revived many of my cards, it will also re-partition them and format it to a single FAT32 (or FAT if its a small card) partition. All you need is the PC to see the device (such as the card reader) in device manager. Also, if you have a supported card reader (90% don't though) it can do low-level functions such as Flash NAND (of the SD Card) erase.
If it doesn't show up, I would agree to try the /dev/zero method under linux, followed by a SD Formatter wipe once the card is back to appearing in device manager.

[Q] MicroSD problem

My Pico stopped recognizing the microSD card. Can't view it nor formatting, nothing. Under Windows, Linux, Android recovery... I was using 2.3.5 with Link2sd and now my 8GB card showing up 30 megs and it seems to be locked for some reason (like locked SD card by the lock. but microSD doesn't have any locks) Please help me, what can I do? Could you reccomend someone who can help me with it?
I know that I removed card without releasing it properly from phone... I had some important files there :/
Have u try using windows disk management to see the drive is present or not?
If a partition was corrupted or missing, most of the time it won't be shown on my computer

Help with 128GB SD card needed

Hello!
My 128 GB SD card (Sandisk) had corrupted files. Every time I delete files, they appear again. I even tried to quick-format the card on Windows, but the files appear again. I also formated it without quick-format which took about 24 hours and the files were again on the card.
Is there a tool that could delete everything? A partition manager maybe?
Is there a way to find logs of what is happening exactly to that SD card? The card is 17 months old.
Thank you!

Ok, but does Android give it a new partition and file format?
Ok, I formatted it from Android within, but there are no changes. All files are still there again.
Is there a write protection on my SD card?

Use this tool in your PC and format sd card in FAT32 format.
@Droidriven: I deleted the partition, but was unable to create a new one. As a result, I was unable to format it again and Windows does not assign any drive letter. Thus, I was unable to use chkdsk. However, Android still recognizes the card, but I cannot make any changes to it. Even when I format it again on Android 7, it says "format succesfull!", but the old data is still there.
@ Ashwinrg: Thank you! But now Windows does not even recognize the card because of the reason I mentioned above.
Update: I manually assigned a drive letter, started CHKDSK, but it says that during "examining the map bits of the volumen" ("el mapa de bit del volumen" in Spanish) errors have been found, but the lost archives cannot be recovered.

To fix the errors
chkdsk X: /f
Where X is the SD assigned letter
To recover some deleted files or files that you couldn't move from SD card you should have used programs like : testdisk or photorec to restore them before you did a format.
@-Hope-: CHKDSK does not work because it throws some error messages.
How do I know if the card lost its abbility to write data? All I can do is read data. I don't want to recover data. I just want to fix the card.

Hello
Seems that the SD is write protected
We can try to disable the protection using diskpart tool in windows
Connect the SD card -via card reader is a recommended step- or if your laptop have a buildin reader
Open a CMD (admin)
Type diskpart then enter
Type list disk then enter
You will see a list of disks and partitions etc..
Type select disk <number of the disk> for example
select disk 2 then enter
Type then
attributes disk clear readonly and enter
Then type exit and enter
The method is explained here with pics on wikihow

Unfortunately, I think after all of this, your card might be too corrupted to repair/reclaim. You might be chasing your own tail with this but I guess it is worth continuing to try.

Format a Micro SD Card used as Android adopted storage (android_meta and android_extended)

I have this SanDisk 32GB MicroSD card that's ended up with two partitions -
android_meta and android_extended as result of a failed attempt to use the card as Adopted Storage in a Lenovo Phone.
Neither Windows or Android now detect the card, and I've tried quite a few methods to get the card to work. These include using diskpart, chkdsk, testdisk.exe, mounting it using a pc running linux and using a few other disk repair softwares. But, none seem to be able to format the disk.
Is there a way I can get this card back to normal. It's a blank card so data recovery does not matter.
Go to the menu that says "Settings."
Select the MicroSD card listed under Storage and USB.
Near the top right, tap the three vertical dots.
Select "format as portable" from the drop-down menu.
I've tried that before. This is that happens (see screenshots).
Trying to format it using a Windows or Linux Machine also does not work.

In Linux, if your distro includes gPartEd (or if it's available in your distro's repository), you can use that to delete the 2 partitions, then create a new partition and format it.

I couldn't use a Linux Machine, so I tried the Gparted Live USB route on a Windows 10 Machine.
Problem is, Gparted detects the partitions. But when I select delete or any other action, the operation completes without errors, and after a few seconds it'll again show up as 'unknown'. The partitions are 16MB and 29.5 GB.
