Enable text message codes? (425) error. - Sprint Note 7 Questions & Answers

One of the first few days I had this phone I texted something one of those short text message codes and I got a reply back saying it potentially cost me money and accidentally I hit no instead of yes now everytime I try to use the text codes it gives me a failed message with a (425) error code. Does anyone know how to enable this again? Any help is much appreciated.

You're gonna have to call Sprint to get it enabled again.

Well I did the Sprint online chat and they said they enabled all of the ones that were recently denied and told me to simply reboot my phone to fix it. I rebooted my phone and got 14 text messages (from every number I've ever texted) telling me I was unsubscribed and if I text them back the same error code (425) pops up and still doesn't work. Almost seems like what Sprint did was make it worse lol

That's the thing, it's not fixed. It flooded in a huge amount of random text messages to my phone and I still get the error code if I reply to any of them. I guess I'll be back on the Sprint chat in the morning.....

I actually found this video a few days ago and couldn't find the option to allow them as he shows. I did get them back but was only to from a factory reset. I did the Sprint chat and called them and they couldnt figure it out so I did the reset and now it works. Thanks for the help buddy.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I think you found one of the kinks in the chain here...lol

I just got off the phone with someone who knew what they were doing at Sprint. Settings>Applications>Application Manager>More (top right corner)>Show System Apps>Message Service>Send Premium Text Message>Always Allow
This was for my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Unfortunately there is no premium message setting in message services on note 7.
What is the premium message thing anyway?

Solution
There's a solution on youtube, but I can't post the exact link. The title is "Galaxy S7 Edge / Android Nougat 7.0 How To Fix Messages Failed to be sent (Premium SMS)" Though the title says S7 Edge, this solution worked for my non-Edge Galaxy S6 operating on the Nougat system

They are seeing this error because it's blocked in the phone, not on Sprint network.

For anyone who is having this issue currently, I'm using a Galaxy S7, and I went to settings > Apps > Special Access (located in the top right corner dropdown) > Use Premium Text Message Services
That allowed me to fix it

Doesn't appear to be anything special and samsungs only suggestion was to send it in. With its markings they would not guarantee its return.
Verizon won't update its status and I seriously doubt it would be covered by assurion.

I think that it was flashed prior to your purchase based on the name of the build number... try flashing a stock rom to see if it changes or ask for a refund from the guy you bought it from
Edit....
Restoring my stock image now perhaps that will shed some light on the subject....

These are the details from the stock rom as it was received. To this point the only thing I had done was gain root access.

I spoke to the guy that sold me the phone. He has filed a request with verizon wireless to get the MEID updated in the system to show the proper device. He is a verizon rep so hopefully they will get this pushed through.
I have a friend who works for HTC and I've gotten quite a few dev phones from him. I was in the same boat once and Verizon corrected the meid number with no issue. It does take 2-3 business days though.
The problem is that the phone goes right to HTC, in my case, and not too Verizon. The phone is never tagged in their system so that's why they have too add it.

Sounds like this was a phone they had in a Verizon store that had the smart phone dummies instead of real phones. I think sometimes those stores get a complementary model for people to use when they want to see the real thing... maybe this could be it?

[Q] Visual Voicemail Not Working?

Anyone get visual voicemail to work? I signed up for visual voicemail first month free with Verizon. I go to text messaging app and scroll left to the visual voicemail tab. It asks me to sign in, i type in my 4 digit password, it loads for about 20sec, then get an error box saying the below picture attached.
Normal voicemail works just fine with same 4 digit password so i know it's not incorrect. Tried calling I.T. in Verizon and they are a joke! Literally lady just went on a website it seemed and looked up troubleshooting for visual voicemail, and you call yourself I.T.?!? She basically said it's a new device and no complaints on this issue yet and maybe a software update will come out to fix it. Basically beat around the bush and told me nothing so told her to just take the free trial off my account.

I used it while on Sprint several years ago. It's never been compatible with Verizon. Verizon had blocked it since day one. They want you to use their VVM and will not let you use something they can charge for.

(Mod) Enable voLTE

I was looking around in system/customize/ACC/default.xml and found settings to enable volte, voice over lte, (Google it) Its under app name phone, enable volte, then enable toggle by changing false to true. Sorry I can't be more detailed at the moment, I'm short on time.
If you can find any more tweaks in this file please post it here.

How would one even confirm that it works? I'm willing to try it out but I can't figure out a way to isolate the LTE signal. As long as LTE is enabled so will be regular voice, and there's no way for me to figure out over which band the call is going.

You can force LTE Only. I use the old LTE On/OFF from the Thunderbolt days. It gets you into the advanced Phone Info menu and you can select LTE Only and you will not be able to send any texts or make any calls.
So if you then can...Verizon has voLTE up and running in your area.

Hi guys,
I'm new to this and would like to give this volte a go.
I changed my settings to

true

true

and pushed it into the /system/customize/ACC/default.xml
I then pulled the file and confirmed the settings is there. If I go into the phone and looked under settings the IMS toggle doesn't show up. If I reboot the phone then default.xml's values reverted back to false.
Questions
1. Do i need to reboot the phone to see the values taking place?
2. If so, how do i make my changes permanent?
thanks
Richard

Darn! I just tried this too. I'm on an unlimited plan, so I activated the phone on a different line, then switched it over to my line. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.
is this a root problem, or bootloader? You could try to run "root cloak" app on Xposed Framework. I know that worked for people wanting to get ISIS wallet to work. It fools the app into thinking that you are not rooted.
It didn't check for root or anything

They typically don't need to ask for root. If you are rooted try root cloak. Have you edited your build prop or super cid?

I just read this article: http://www.pocketables.com/2014/04/thinking-rooting-htc-one-m8-hold-second.html
Apparently if your bootloader is unlocked Drive will not activate the bonus storage. In the comments someone relocked their bootloader and was able to activate the promotion. I am not that interested to relock for the promotion, but maybe right before it expires.

Raising this topic from the dead in case anyone else is in the same boat as me...
I didn't even know about this feature but recently read about it when they upgraded existing users to 100GB. I unlocked my device the day I got it so never opened the stock drive application.
I called the 888 number and they just asked for my IMEI and email address and they sent me an email. I already pay for 100GB, so they added another 100GB on top of that.
Thanks!
Odd, I didn't have any issues getting the promotion and I unlocked/rooted (with Firewater) day 1 as well.

Clicked and confirmed, all good. Pleasantly surprised after I procrastinated on the initial offer of just 50GB, lol.

Hostpot bypass with latest update APD3

Ok so i got the sprint S7 Edge with the latest update and like most of you know you cant change your APN settings with the latest update. Since I had no idea about this before i took the update I lost the chance of gettinf free hostpot. Now if you changed the APN settings before the update it will stick after you take the update. I found this video of a someone turning hostpot on without the need to change any APN settings but it wasnt in the latest update. I still went ahead and gve it a shoot and it worked. This is are the steps you need to do.
1- Resrtar your device.
2- Once is back up quickly turn on hostpot.
3- If you get the error message try turn it on againg without restarting your phone.
note: I got my hostpot to stick in the second try. The first try got the error message after like 10 seconds so without restarting the phone gave it another shoot and it worked. If the secodn time doesnt work just go ahead and restart and try step 1-3 again. Good luck.

yeah, thats is the reasong why i posted. I dont have the time to be here 24/7 like other ppl so it took me a while to find out how to get hostpot working with APNs grayed out. There is like 1 post mentioning this hostpot fixed but that was in another update, not the latest one so I didnt know if it was going to work.

Hello, so this is free and Sprint won't limit you to like 3 GB? I must have tether as I live out in the country where there is no cable or dsl available, and I thought I would have to wait for root for the S7. And would this work on the Sprint S7 non edge as well? thanks.

Yes, it is free and I don't think sprint has a way to find out. Not sure if it works on the regular S7 (non edge). Give it a shoot and report back [emoji106]

when that happens all you need to do is repeat the proccess one more time and it should work just fine. I'm on the latest update PF2 and still works. It didnt at first for some reason but after few attemps it finally worked.

I'm on PG1, and don't have hotspots on my plan, but the feature works without any error messages. I was able to connect my s5 to my s7's hotspot and surf for quite a while. I didn't have to do any mods or change any apn settings.
Just to let everyone know, this still works with September patch PH7.
I can confirm this works on all sprint galaxy roms from s5 to s7edge
If your hotspot shuts off you have it set to time out
Go to configure hotspot and set time out to never i think its 1 hour by default. It will work till you shut it off if you set it to never time out.

This no longer works since the last update. After a few minutes the sub message pops up
