Ok so i got the sprint S7 Edge with the latest update and like most of you know you cant change your APN settings with the latest update. Since I had no idea about this before i took the update I lost the chance of gettinf free hostpot. Now if you changed the APN settings before the update it will stick after you take the update. I found this video of a someone turning hostpot on without the need to change any APN settings but it wasnt in the latest update. I still went ahead and gve it a shoot and it worked. This is are the steps you need to do.
1- Resrtar your device.
2- Once is back up quickly turn on hostpot.
3- If you get the error message try turn it on againg without restarting your phone.
note: I got my hostpot to stick in the second try. The first try got the error message after like 10 seconds so without restarting the phone gave it another shoot and it worked. If the secodn time doesnt work just go ahead and restart and try step 1-3 again. Good luck.

Hello, so this is free and Sprint won't limit you to like 3 GB? I must have tether as I live out in the country where there is no cable or dsl available, and I thought I would have to wait for root for the S7. And would this work on the Sprint S7 non edge as well? thanks.

I'm on PG1, and don't have hotspots on my plan, but the feature works without any error messages. I was able to connect my s5 to my s7's hotspot and surf for quite a while. I didn't have to do any mods or change any apn settings.
Just to let everyone know, this still works with September patch PH7.
I can confirm this works on all sprint galaxy roms from s5 to s7edge
If your hotspot shuts off you have it set to time out
Go to configure hotspot and set time out to never i think its 1 hour by default. It will work till you shut it off if you set it to never time out.

T-Mobile Galaxy note is getting a new OTA, to build no.*OH4. We don’t have proper details about the OH4 update for T-Mobile Note 5 yet, but looks like Samsung*and T-Mobile noticed something that needed quick fixing. After all, it isn’t been long since Note 5*was launched by T-Mobile and Samsung.
The full version of the*software updateis*N920TUVU1BOH4, and it runs onAndroid 5.1.1*exactly.*
For now, pick up your T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 and see if you have already received an OTA notification. If not, then it’s time to tap as many times as require/you can on ‘check for update’ button under Settings > About device > Software update.
Mine updated about an hour ago. I was hoping it would activate the Samsung pay app since i was accepted into the beta program but it did not. I wonder what's changed...
From what I can tell so far at least this update has fixed the wireless charging issue I was having when using the Samsung wireless pad that came with my S6. So far its been charging to full with no issues since this update. Before it would constantly pause and never charge fully.
This should be the video calling feature http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...oday-on-the-galaxy-note-5-and-galaxy-s6-edge/

I think I saw it in a similar thread when it was first reported yesterday. Wireless charging fix and auto brightness fix.

After installing the update I'm noticing that Wi-Fi performance is significantly worse than before. To the point where Wi-Fi Calling isn't a reliable way of making phone calls any more. Running a simple speedtest shows very spikey results, jitter is much higher. Tried it on multiple Wi-Fi locations.
When on LTE, service is excellent as usual. I'm stock.
Anyone else having this issue?
Anywhere in TMOs footprint using Carrier Aggregation (CA). I'm starting to see Band 12 as a default instead of Band 4.

Not sure what this update did, but my phone has been randomly locking twice now since the update. Never had this issue before, no roots/mods applied and no new applications.
Edit: Went into stock recovery and did a cache wipe to see if that helps at all. Really prefer not to wipe this phone but may have to if it continues :-/
Did not work, it freezes constantly now and will now try wiping it....Samsung really tore it up now.
Okay really upset now...did a factory reset and it's freezing at the setup screen. I just got this phone not even two weeks ago.

Sorry to hear that. My phone only restarted once so far. Hope it doesn't continue.
So update here... Whatever this update did has tore my phone to inability to function. Constant rebooting/crashing even after factory resets in recovery/in-OS. Looks like I'm yet again going into the Sprint store to get it fixed.
Last edit i hope: So after letting it set there and reboot constantly, it has stopped and is behaving itself for the past hour so far. I do not know what it was that caused this. I've already activated Samsung Pay again and still good. Will keep updated.
If you keep having issues, download the stock tar and try to flash in Odin and then do a factory reset. If that fixes it, just don't update.

Has it been tested that we can "downgrade" to the previous version? Saying this did activate Samsung Pay and it dealing with hardware it might have incremented the firmware. Did that once on a older phone and rather wait till it's a green light to do it.
On another note, I'm noticing that my phone crashes when I'm at work. I can be anywhere else so far and be fine, just when I get to work my phone starts to act up. I know the firewall is heavy on reading all data going through it. Could it be possible that Samsung Pay is not liking the breach of certificates in it's data and causing the phone to reboot in panic?

Edit: Phone has a black screen that reads, "Installing Applications" after it rebuilt ART. The progress bar isn't moving after a few minutes. Is this normal?
I never had any issues with that before. Performance and battery seem great so far. Android System/OS each are using less resources than before too. Very happy so far.

Still early to see if I see any difference in battery. I think they just fixed the way battery stats report android os use. Before the update, Android was #1 on the list showing 800+ mah of estimated battery usage. Now it's showing 326 mah usage. Not sure why my android os usage would change after an update on the same charge?? Maybe someone can explain that to me

Things might still be settling in, but I've noticed that my fingerprint scanning times are much quicker and accurate, and the speed/fluidity of the entire OS seems to be much, much smoother. Since the device is still in its infancy, Samsung might have gone to work patching and smoothing out things, working out better resource management, etc. which might be reflected in the battery stats?

If you had hotspot enabled via changing the APN settings prior to this OTA, it will still be enabled after. The OTA leaves the option to edit the APN settings grayed out, but doesn't reset the values. I just confirmed that tethering is still working for me.

I rebooted my phone and got 14 text messages (from every number I've ever texted) telling me I was unsubscribed and if I text them back the same error code (425) pops up and still doesn't work. There's a solution on youtube, but I can't post the exact link. The title is "Galaxy S7 Edge / Android Nougat 7.0 How To Fix Messages Failed to be sent (Premium SMS)" Though the title says S7 Edge, this solution worked for my non-Edge Galaxy S6 operating on the Nougat system
They are seeing this error because it's blocked in the phone, not on Sprint network.
For anyone who is having this issue currently, I'm using a Galaxy S7, and I went to settings > Apps > Special Access (located in the top right corner dropdown) > Use Premium Text Message Services
That allowed me to fix it
Pretty big, at 300+MB. but very little on the change log.. Didnt get a screenshot, sorry. Beyond September Security updates, I r touch issue fixed, and performance improvements...

I don't see it on this update.

No differences in LTE speeds for me.
Here's another PSA: Sprint service in Austin, Texas (and surrounding areas) sucks!
I cant find anything new on my device at all.. There could be other things that could auto-install after the update via sprint ID app. ... I turned that of (with package disabler) as it kept installing bloatware immediately after I would uninstall it. That issue alone is worth the price of Package Disabler... or even installing the U ROM.
Anyone know how to tell if the bootloader has been updated?
I was hoping for some more functional AOD updates like the Note 7 has. At least we get the September security update.
So someone who's installed it in About Device what's the Android security patch level?

No AOD features added, battery life still sucks on this phone. I have a feeling with the Note 7 recall its going to be awhile before we get any of those features.

Yeah probably. To be honest I'm surprised we even got the September security update.
If I don't use the thing the battery life is pretty great, I can go almost 2 days on a weekend when I'm not using it much. But man, stream radio or music, it just eats it, which is weird because I'll eat more battery in an hour of streaming radio with the screen off than I will watching a show or movie off my SD card for 30 minutes.

That's why I'm glad I have a nexus 6p to play with and enjoy android N while my S7E sits in my nightstand lol. I regret buying the S7E man..
I do regret getting the S7E as well. I feel conned by all the hype and early reviews of this phone. I must say that after this update has settled in, battery life is better finally on this release. Too little to late. The phone is still laggy and struggles to close open apps and will still lock up for a few seconds as well. I am confident that Samsung's horid touchwiz is to blame as it happers the phone.

I think the lag is more from the Sprint bloat than the Samsung bloat b/c on the 935U ROM, I practically don't have any lag. My GS7E is faster than my Nexus 5X on the latest 7.0 Nougat.

I could totally see the sprint bloat causing that. This will be my last carrier phone. Not sure what's next yet but I'm eyeing the inevitable price drop on an unlocked HTC 10 during the holiday shopping season at the moment.

I've disabled the bloat, and have no performance issues, or significant lag, on my Edge. No problem closing open apps. You may want to look at what apps you have running in the background.
As far as new features, there's now an option to automatically set a default app or be prompted, and if you're prompted you can choose Always or Just Once.
