Help with unlocking phone to GSM carrier - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

Is there a tutorial or guide to unlock the note 5 or do I have to pay these websites or someone from Craigslist. This seems to be like a secret people cashing in on. I had sprint recently took my services to metro pc now I have 3 useless phones. I might sell them if I can't get it to work on metro without a lot of trouble. I can't even find nothing on YouTube they all asking for money and I really don't trust any website with my cc information

I paid a service to unlock spr note 5 and I use it on att. Different services cost different amounts. I used Idoneapps and can not complain. Price was a bit higher than others but it comes with their app. Ability to re unlock if need be. Access to radio settings via their app. Shop around. Just make sure it isnt a cheap scam site. Google.

Local guy told me 80 at his shop is that a fair price

I paid 39$ with Idoneapps. Ive seen others pay less with other services. 80 seems a bit steep. But that is local. I would look around more.

How to check note 5 Sprint is unlocked or No?

I unlocked it through the Sprint website, if that is the same unlocking were talking about. On the sprint site it says my Note 5 is unlocked but when I put in my AT&T sim it says invalid sim. No unlock code pops up, I'm thinking the phone needs to be re programmed to AT&T settings?

To carrier unlock it just pay the 34.99 from idoneapp app . Took less than 2 minutes now my phone works on every carrier . Using my sprint version on metro pc with no issuses

metro PCS at where I live sucks...im using ATT and cannot get LTE...I did once actually but it switched to roaming some martiland or something and it actually was slower than ATT 3g...
Now i need to consider metro then...been playing and testing out the carriers, changed every month from Straight talk (used 3years) to cricket (bad choice) to freedompop (worked good on my iphone 6s but data messes up on my Note 5, I hate to deal with that) then to ATT...Not 100% happy but dont see any other choices...I may check Metro PCS but coverage here is not good...

Sprint just unlocked mine with a few calls and 3 days of waiting. I can now insert my AT&T sim and not get the invalid sim error. Now I get "Unable to establish a wireless data connection". Add the AT&T APN and everything looks OK but I'm sure I'm missing a step.

Sprint is even worse here lol. I never even considered sprint, especially when I got the phone as a gift, I called their customer service, and they say I can only use postpaid service. So i got idoneapps and unlocked the phone and was using GSM actually. i actually looked on Metropcs website I didn't see they have compatible plans with n920p? But since they are GSM company now they sure use sim card then...I will do more research.

On ebay there's a seller who does it for 7usd.. done it from him.. worked well. He is from spain. Then root it and flash one of the ROMs to enable 4g on gsm carriers.

It's a way for anybody with bad credit to get a phone. A lot of my employees have it because they can't afford a security deposit with Verizon or any other large carrier.
Do they ride the bus? Do they call *every* Android device the "Google Phone" or "Droid"? Are they familiar with government assistance? Well sir you have yourself a Cricket customer.
Flashing a Thunderbolt over to Cricket is like parking your Maserati at a swap meet. What a waste.
That's like putting unleaded fuel in a Dodge Viper. She it looks at fancy but its gonna run like crap. Flash a US Cell phone or something. Not a 4G device! Waste!

Seriously if someone buys a Bolt retail without contract you're paying north of $600 on retail outlets like Amazon. So you get a Bolt from VZW for $150 (maybe even $99 when they run sales) plus you pay for a month of service + data and cancel ($175) and you're still around $400. That's a lot of wasted money to get a Bolt that's not going to be using LTE. This kind of kills the affordability of Cricket.
Have you seen Cricket's data coverage map? I think I can step in and out of it no matter where I am. One step to the left...coverage. One step to the right...no data.
Android plan on cricket is $55/mo too so you're not saving a ton of money per month for Crapit I mean Cricket.
Alright I'm off my Cricket soapbox but seriously nice work getting it working on their network.

VZW Cancellation fees are $350 for a phone, plus $150 for the phone, another $100 for a month of service. Making the total price 600+. Either way he was paying 600+.
But if you can pay $600+ for a phone, but can't afford a monthly plan from verizon, you are doing something wrong.

[Q] Straight Talk and 3g for Sensation Help!

Hi all, I did a search and didn't get very far. Here's the deal I learned after buying my girlfriend and Tmobile Sensation 4G and putting it on a ST SIM(uses att service) that it doesn't have the 850mhz band that att uses for 3g. Is there any way possible to change the frequency to pick up atts 3g wether it be a radio/RILEY or a ROM that changes this. I don't think it is a hardware issue seeing as the galaxy s is able to change this setting easily. What I need to know is has anyone addressed this issue or found a work around? I am even willing to replace hardware if necessary. Maybe a Bell Canada radio/ril?? Currently we have Insert Coin ICS installed. Any help is appreciated! Thanks
Nope,
Maybe someone else will prove me wrong, but I don't believe there is any way to make a T-Mobile branded Sensation work on AT&T's 3G network. There were some rumors early on that this might be possible, but I don't think anyone has been able to make it happen.
There must be some way to access these network options to edit the frequency. If they can do it on some other phones maybe a Dev can get his hands on an RUU from the Canada Bell files and possibly find where this is hidden? There must be some way haha!

Not great, not bad at all actually. Especially for the price.
People over on howardforums swear there are 100/mb/day or 2gb/month limits on data though. At which point they claim they either turn off your data or close your account altogether.
I use wifi most of the day so I don't care but your situation might be different. Tmobile prepaid is what I had before though. $60/month for 2gb @ 4G speed isn't bad.

Looks ok I guess. I'm still a noob at reading those speed charts but I'll just take your word for it. The only problem I might have with them is , I'm scared they might just cancel my number completely or that i loose data completely. So would you recommend this or the t-mobile monthly $50? I'm paying 50 for my metro atm so I really don't want to pay more, I'll be glad with the same or a little bit less.

The thing is that on the $50 TMO plan you'll get 100mb of 4G and the rest will be 2G speed. Meaning that you'll struggle to play video like YouTube. That's why I recommended the $60 plan.

They have sims for TMO or ATT network.
Thanks guys! I ordered her a SIM from straight Talk for TMO. Should be here Tuesday. Anybody know how their voice/data service is in Michigan? I am spoiled by having excellent data with VZW but definitely pay for it.... Will she have worse service than with her current ST ATT SIM? Hope it goes well and they let me swap SIMS and keep her number!

T-Mobile vs Straight Talk (AT&T)

Hi guys, just curious as to whether you think it would be a better option to go with straight talk using AT&T's network, or chance it with T-Mobile (unlocked phone). The thing is, I am not sure if this phone will receive data properly with T-Mobile, as I understand it, the frequencies are different.
So, do you guys think I should try to chance it?? Also, how does T-Mobile's HSPA+ compare to AT&T's?
HSPA+ on T-Mobile is fine, but you're not gonna get it with a one x. So... Go with straight talk.

Ok, thanks. I heard that T-Mobile is doing reforms to their network, but wasn't sure if it would apply to me in this case, and if they were ready or not.
I've been using straight talk for my last two phones, and the HOX. Service has been pretty good, no issues especially since they openly allow bringing your own phone. Data is almost always at H, with a few occasions where it drops to edge.

Straight Talk gave me the boot after using 1GB of data. The only good thing to come of it was being able to port my number to T-Mobile. I hate to say it, but Straight Talk is shady. I did not use the proxy. It seems that AT&T reported that my usage was "excessive" (at 1gb?) and they gave me a phone call that was extremely distorted. I couldn't understand it at the time, so I called them up. In retrospect I would have ignored it.
Here is the message...
Hmm, seems like I'm going to have to be pretty careful on my ST account than.
I am getting a T-Mobile sim I ordered (before I knew it wouldn't work) in the mail today, ST sim comes tomorrow. Should I even try the T-Mobile one? Is there any chance at all I will get data?

I bought the HOX after T-Mobile started turning on the 1900mhz data in the Seattle and surrounding areas. It doesn't seem to be officially deployed as the store associates can't confirm if it's active and stores also aren't advertising iPhone users.
SO it's mostly Edge service for now but in many areas I have been getting 3G and H signals and speedtest gets well over 8Mbps, not to be confused with 8mbps. More than enough for mobile use once they officially launched 1900 in the area.

You will get data. It'll just be EDGE. And I'm certain if you bought another SIM later they could switch them on the account.
As far as data, it's the band. My Galaxy Exhibit worked great. 4G and all. The HTC One X works great on AT&T/ST, but when you put in a T-Mobile SIM, welcome to EDGE. I think maybe T-Mobile is starting to open up more bands for the iPhone? Good luck... but T-Mobile is not as vast as AT&T so you might get frustrated if you travel.
@zounduser those look exactly like my settings. I may have had port 80 in the first Port section though. Oh, and be careful with that kennel.
Another thing to note about Monthly4G: they do not let you modify you're voice mail provider. A bit frustrating if you use Google Voice like me.

it looks like T-Mobile will likely be using their LTE spectrum to roll out its own LTE service
http://androidandme.com/2012/10/car...obile-combined-company-to-be-called-t-mobile/
from the comments:
"MetroPCS already has a LTE network on AWS spectrum, which is the same spectrum that T-Mobile plans to roll out LTE in 2013. It sounds like this merger will only accelerate T-Mobile’s network upgrade."

EDIT: however, I'm not sure how this will affect pre-paid on T-Mobile. Right now, there is no LTE on MVNO's and I'm sure that will likely remain the case for a while.

Verizon's Galaxy S3 - using on Straight Talk

So,
I've read with android v4.1.2, this phone is factory unlocked. If I cancel my contract with verizon, can i switch directly over to Straight Talk (on AT&T network)? Is there something more I need to do besides maybe a factory restore? I would appreciate any help or if this topic has been shared already and i have over-looked it, please point me in the right direction.
Thank you.
You'll have to have it flashed to ST. PM Viper32. I'm gonna get him to do mine when this month is up.
Sent from my S3, because iPhone is faget.
So this can be done now? Anyone got any instructions on how to do this? This would be greatly appreciated.

I need to do this as well. My Verizon contract is up and I want to take my S3 over to Straight Talk.

As far as I've heard, the data connection is EDGE only without 3G or 4G. Is this correct?

I've got 3G, or what seems like 3G on it. But I've yet to achieve 4g, and it'll probably never happen with this phone.

How much data are you using? The talk around town is that breaking 2gb will get you the boot. What's your experience?

My honest opinion? With these speeds, you'd be hard pressed to use that much data. I can't speak on ST policy or know why they'd boot you. Seems a bit ridiculous. Unless you go over your plan?

I used to be a Straight Talk customer with my HTC One X. I left them due to the terrible service, and not having the same reception and priority as AT&T, even though I had an AT&T SIM in it. You be warned and dropped if you use over 2Gb of data. You can be warned and dropped, if you use streaming video (youtube etc...)
Their plans simply arent designed for that. And you cant blame them.... as youre only paying $45/month here in the U.S. If you want more data. If you want more data without limits on how you use it (streaming video etc...) then you need a bigger plan from a different carrier. You cant expect it all, for $45/month.
Also, I dont think any company like straight talk, will give you 4G. They are piggybacking off of the towers of big carriers.... those carriers dont want you clogging up their 4G network through Straight Talk (or any other) for only $45/month

I have an unlocked Motorola Atrix HD (AT&T) Ive been using on ST for close to a year. At first, I only had "fake 4g" aka hspa+ which isnt terrible. My speeds were between 4-6 mbps.
The day I heard att was allowing lte on st I bought a new lte compatible sim from st for $7. I threw it in my phone, updated my apns and have been running lte ever since. Speeds are between 8 - 16 mbps now.
Only issue is sometimes ppl dont get my texts. Its really random so it hasnt been enough of an issue for me to change anything. I probably just need to tweak my apn but its fine for now.
As for streaming, I stream music quite a bit, youtube any time I want, and even netflix a time or two. Never had an issue. Now I also use less than 2gigs a month. For whatever all thats worth

Sprint spark speeds - wow

I'm consistently getting 65 to 75 mbps. Huge improvement from the wimax and initial iteration of lte. What's are your speeds like? Post a screenshot if possible!

Fast but not as fast as you guys are getting.

Sprint is NOT a national carrier.
I got ZERO sprint signal driving down the main highway in South Dakota.
Luckily I took my Verizon company phone, had LTE almost everywhere.
I guess you get what you pay for with sprint, they are $30 cheaper a month.

There are several areas in the south where Verizon doesn't pickup at all, so I guess they don't qualify as a national carrier either. And I believe sprint was named the fastest national carrier in Dayton, Ohio. Verizon was named overall fastest network, if I'm not mistaken, but my sprint speeds make my uverse look like dial up. Sprint still has a way to go, as far as reliable coverage, nationwide, but I'm glad to see that they are finally making positive upgrades to their networks.

I barely get 3g and was told by sprint that i pay to have "access" to there network. ...there are no guarantee to service. .....abs after i threat a complaint to better business Bureau after months of ****ty service and horrible customer service .... on top of them getting caught in a lie about cell towers being down when they were not .... they gave me back what i paid into my previous device and cleared the balance and gave me the phone "note edge" and gave me 100 dollars credit.... and gave me a extra line with free upgrades for both i got s note 5 still horrible signal but i can still upgrade again... so if your service is bad and you have the time to complain. ...do it but you have to be smart on your replies because honestly they are not.

This speed test was on band 41.
---------- Post added at 06:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:19 PM ----------
Here is more on band 41 in my area.
Sorry, there is NO comparison between Verizon, which may have a few holes in coverage, to SPRINT which has almost no coverage besides Roaming on the Verizon voice network in most states west of the Mississippi.
I'm sorry, but they don't have "holes", they have half the USA uncovered compared to Verizon, which has 4g in twice the area of sprint.
If you're out west, sprint is almost useless unless you stuck to the towns.

You are correct, but I wasn't comparing their coverage areas, just stating the fact that all carriers have holes in their coverage, and that doesn't disqualify one from being a national carrier. Sprint works fine for my location and to where I travel, but may not for others. I have used both carriers, and although Verizon has a much larger network, the difference in cost between the 2 led me to stay with sprint. To each his own....

I'm going to be in a Spark town this weekend, will be running test's to see what they come up to on speeds. My town has 4G but it's only one portion of it. City is stingy with letting towers in-town so they are mostly all circling the town.

Ok. I just think a "national carrier" should have nation wide coverage. not skip entire states.
I was very disapointed after driving 4 hrs in south dakota to get no data. And when i researched it after the fact was shocked at how much verizon lte there was and sprint had absolutely nothing.
You are correct, you get what you pay for i guess..
