hey all, just joined the forum, been lurking for a while, trying to learn about the whole rooting process. i am still not 100% confident on the whole thing, but i am thinking about giving it a shot.
have had a few smart phones, all from t-mobile except for this last one, which is a samsung galaxy s3 from verizon, running android 4.1.2. i have watched a bunch of videos, and read a bunch of threads, but want to make sure i don't turn my phone into a brick by doing this, so i am asking here now.
if i follow the instructions in the video by officialphonerebel for the SCH-I535 will that give me root access? i tried to post a link to the video but since i am a new member the site won't allow me to do that. what else do i need to do in order to delete all the bloatware that comes pre-installed? do i need to unlock the bootloader? or will the process described in the video do that already?
thanks in advance from a dumb union plumber and pipe welder...

Ok, sorry about that, thanks for moving it.
However, you found the time to move my thread, but not to help me? Cool, thanks for that too.

1.Does the video show you how to root from 4.1.2 jelly bean?
2. Yes you need to unlock the bootloader in order to flash anything.
3. Most custom ROMs have bloatware removed.
4. The only way to brick your phone is by flashing something meant for another device.
5. Kenny is a moderator so he doesn't really have to help you just moderate the forums which he did.

Kenny moves threads once they are reported so don't go subtly suggesting anything.

Thank you for the info. The video I watched said 4.1.2/4.1.1., so I am not sure if they require the same procedure or not.
So after I root the phone, I need to flash a custom ROM? I can't just run an unlocked stock version of 4.1.2?
Understood about the bricking, I will pay attention and read what I am flashing first to make sure it is for my device
This forum must run differently than other forums. I am a supermod over on a motorcycle racing website, and we need to be knowledgable about what we are moderating, and give advice and help the members, not just moderate.

I wasn't subtly suggesting anything. I think I was pretty straightfoward saying that in addition to moving my thread he could have helped me answer my questions.
Follow the instructions in below post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35418324
This will give you rooted stock rom.
Thanks doesn't hurt....

follow the directions in this thread >>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439 and you will be rooted with an unlocked botloader and ready to flash.
from there you you can stay stock rooted and remove apps yourself. alot of people like titanium back up for that. or you can flash a touchwiz/samsung based ROM that has most if not all of the bloatware removed and allows to add what you want thru the installer at setup. you can find these ROMs in android development. or you can flash an AOSP (android open source project) ROM that is based off "pure google" with developer mods and preferences included. you can find these ROMs in original android development.
backup your phone. i use nandroid and nandroid manager but there are others that may work better for you. only flash stuff for vzw. have fun.

be careful of what?
and now i understand that this forum is different than the others i frequent. like i said, i am a supermod (voluntarily as well) on another site, and on that site, all of our mods, supermods, and admins need to be familiar with all aspects of what they are moderating, so i assumed (incorrectly apparently) that this site was run the same. my apologies for that.
my attitude? i thought it was rude of you to just moderate the thread, and not even let me know whether or not you could help or not. it was fine to tell me you moved the thread, and it was my fault for posting it in the wrong section, but all you had to say was "hey listen, i don't know much about your device, but you posted it in the wrong section, so i moved it for you." and everything would have been fine.
i read tons of "support" threads on this site, and was not aware that it was for developers only, again, my apologies. can you direct me to a site that is for support please?
for those of you that helped, i thank you.

Thread closed, I will assume you feel it necessary to vent your frustrations, but again, your above post does nothing towards the contribution and/or furthering of development.
One of the main rules of XDA is to read and follow the posting rules prior to posting. Nowhere in these rules is there a requirement for, or of, a moderator to answer your questions just because you asked one. We act on reported posts from users that violate XDA posting rules, and yours did.
If you are a moderator elsewhere, you should be familiar with the codes and standards that it takes to moderate. Firing back and getting the last word in to moderators here is not a classy or nice thing, might be on the site you volunteer on, but not here.
Now, KennyGlass123 may unlock so that you can reply to him. Or, you could have used the PM system to express your dissatisfaction of things. But you did not, hence, me locking this thread.
Have a good weekend.

Ok, maybe I've posted on the wrong section, but regarding the device, there isn't a Pocket 2 forum section here, so I posted on the most similar I've found. Is that really a good reason to make a report?
I read the rules once, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember where it says "report a user when he posts a thread of the device X on device Y section if the device X section doesn't exist".
Anyway, thanks for reporting me and I still need help and about this thread, I will wait the moderators tell me if I am wrong or not.
If I am wrong, I hope they point me where to post the thread (or move this one).

I don't want to be mean but posting a question on the development selection is not allowed.
Anyway, I make a research and there is no way to root your device (yet!!!).
You can try Kingo root

I've tried that already.
Like I said, I guess I've made a mistake by creating on this section, but I think I can't delete a thread (can I?).
About "a way to root", I don't know any yet, but I'm hoping there is, that's why I've created a thread (after a lot of searching).
First of all, thanks for moving the thread.
I still need help. Does anyone knows a way to root this device?
I have the Hipstreet Titan 2. There is barely anything anywhere I have found, besides a hint these devices come partially rooted, & Super user needs simply be installed. I've done this, with nothing but errors as a result. Root checker confirms the device isn't properly rooted.
If it makes any difference, it was a 'kids' version (Kids mode app came preinstalled lol). My son just doesn't bother with it, so I thought I'd have a tinker rather than let it collect dust, but it looks like me and two other people have it in total. Only thing found on YouTube is tutorials on how to install apps from Google Play....
Does anyone else have this tablet, or know how to get full root?
Thanks
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. I can't find anything relating to your question on XDA, please ask your question here:
Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Thread closed, thanks.
So I've rooted this device several times and only once.... have I gotten the wifi to stay on.
But I decided to turn off the device and after that next reboot, the wifi was no longer allowing me to connect.
Attempting to turn on the wifi will freeze the device. I have no idea why it's doing this nor how I got the wifi to stay on previously.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
I have successfully rooted many devices and this is the only device that has given me this much stress.
I do not want to go back to stock again, KNOX over heats the tablet and Samsung devices are known to have
heavy bloatware. I just want this device running on wifi and block the mobile data option but that requires root.
N O T E : >>>>>> Any form moderator reading this please... please ...PLEASE DO NOT re-direct me to a form
that has not given a specific answer to this problem nor close this discussion, This issue needs a solution. I can not stress the importance on this request. Any time I ask a question generally I get re-directed to another post with in the vicinity of nowhere near the request and only to go back to square one. I just really need this issue resolved as soon as possible.
I have already search on this form
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/root-sm-t237p-t2849224/page2
as well as this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/rom-sm-t237p-rooted-odexed-2015-04-11-t3079083
and still no solution was found.
Again please DO NOT re-direct me nor close this post.

Hi there,
First of all I think you need to read our sticky threads about the purpose of this XDA Assist Forum. Take a look bellow with highlighted words:
The mission of XDA Assist is to provide basic help to those who have tried searching but can't find what they are looking for and need assistance. This is not a "helpdesk" providing technical assistance but more to point you in the correct direction with your problem. Perhaps you can't find posts on how to root your phone, install custom recovery or maybe you have questions about how to navigate and use features on the site.
Our XDA Assist team will give you links to threads/forums that are relevant to your problem. You may be pointed towards guides and instructions that can be quite complex, so you will still need to read carefully and be cautious before attempting to make software changes to your device. It is essential you are in the correct forum for your device model; what works for one can ruin another.

Now, reading that i'm sure you understand that the best place for your question is just in the device specific forum from here:
Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Thank you for understanding,
Good luck
Please help me! I know this is the wrong thread, but I just got this account so I can't post in the proper one.
I've tried downgrading my GPad to version 4.4.1 with that one leaked KDZ, and now my device won't get past the AT&T logo.
It was on version 5.0.2 using an OTA update.
I attempted flashing using LG's 2014 flash tool, it said "Cannot connect to server" or something along those lines.
I had root at one point but uninstalled it due to Kingroot's weird permissions. (I know, stupid me.)
I'm really at a loss here. I thought I had TWRP recovery but I apparently don't. Weird.
I'm on the verge of tears trying to fix this, lmao. I have the proper drivers and ADB installed on my computer.
Can someone please help?
Looks like you've asked about this here too:

From our forum rules:
5. Create a thread or post a message only once.
As a large forum, we don't need unnecessary clutter. You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer, revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time so it might take a while before you receive an answer. (Also refer to Rule 16)
